5 comments about Terminator 2: Judgment Day [Blu-ray].
  1. Terminator 2 is one of the best movies ever made. It has inspired novels, comic books, games, two more sequels (one of which is in production), and a TV series (The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which is my favorite show since Firefly). Needless to say, this is a film who's greatness is never to be doubted.

Unfortunately, this Blu-Ray disc is crap. It uses the old MPEG2 video encoder, so the picture quality is not what it ought to be on this format. The special features are absolutel bare bones, which is a darned shame since Extreme Edition and Ultimate Edition were both loaded up with lots of great goodies for fans to dig into. I would have settled for just getting the content from those two releases here in standard definition, just because they were so thorough and complete. Sadly, we get none of that here.

The worst sin that this disc commits of all though, is that it does not include the special extended version. The extended cut of T2 is the definitive version of the movie-- once you've seen it, there's really no reason to go back and watch the original theatrical version. There was a load of good stuff that got added to the extended cut, and a lot of it was very important for the story. Whoever put this crappy Blu-Ray disc together obviously made it with the intention of double dipping in the future. If you must watch T2 in high definition now, then I won't stop you from buying it. However, be warned that in a few months it's bound to become a coaster when they put out a brand new version containing the extended cut, immaculate picture quality, and loads of special features. This disc is a temporary Terminator fix, at best.

  2. There is no question that Terminator 2 is among the best sci-fi/action movies ever created, surpassing even its predecessor. The picture quality on the Blu-ray, however, is rather disappointing. Here, I am seconding Mike P's review. The DVD is just as good for less money.

  3. These idiots who purchase these movies on BluRay and then give the movie a poor rating because of the transfer should go ahead and keep buying the older movies both on DVD and BluRay, or better yet, just mail me your money. You cannot go back and re-shoot an entire movie in a HD format. So thus, you cannot make it an HD movie just like that. Now the features on the other hand, is something that can be surpassed from the DVD releases and is multiple times not done. I just get sick of hearing the same old tearing down and poor ratings of a movie all because of the retarded expectations of people thinking a movie should be magically re-done in HD when that is not going to happen. Just purchase new releases for the BlueRay and buy older movies in DVD and save your money!

  4. What can you say? This was one of the first movies I wanted on Blu-Ray. And I was not disappointed. It wasn't the first Blu-Ray I bought, but when I saw the deal on Amazon I had to get it.

  5. After the success of "The Terminator" in 1984, it strikes me as somewhat odd that there wasn't a sequel rushed directly into production as soon as the original was deemed a hit. Nowadays, it seems like once a movie surpasses what it cost to make the movie then a sequel is virtually inevitable. This also seemed to be the mindset around certain movies back in the 1980's, especially the slasher type of films; but for whatever reason seven long years passed between the release of "The Terminator" before director and writer James Cameron re-teamed with his stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton for "Terminator 2: Judgment Day".

"Terminator 2: Judgment Day" picks up approximately ten or so years after the events of the first film. Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) has been locked away in a mental institution after her crazed warnings of an impending holocaust at the hands of machines, and her 10-year old son John (Edward Furlong) is living with foster parents. After the initial failure of the first Terminator to complete its mission of eliminating Sarah, the evil Skynet has sent back an even more advanced model, the T-1000 (Robert Patrick), to hunt down and kill her son John before he can grow up to become the leader of the human resistance. However, John's future self is not without his own resources as he has sent back a weapon of his own to protect his younger self, a reprogrammed Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) identical to the one that attempted to kill his mother ten years before.

A general rule about movies is that nine times out of ten the sequel may be on par with the original film, but rarely will it ever surpass what had come before; however, I feel very confident in saying that "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is easily one prime example of an exception to that rule. "The Terminator" was an excellent sci-fi movie that mixed futuristic elements with those of the modern day, but some may have wondered what more story could there possibly be since Sarah defeated the first Terminator, which should have saved her son and the future as well. Based on what I saw in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", or "T2" for short, what happened in the original was merely the beginning of a much bigger problem for mankind.

Writer/director James Cameron has once more crafted an extremely taut, perfectly paced, sci-fi thriller that is leaps and bounds above what was done in the first movie. The story for "T2" is much bigger, the drama is more intense, the action is pulse-pounding, and the visual effects are still incredible even to this day. James Cameron must have known that he was merely laying the initial groundwork in "The Terminator" for a vast mythology surrounding mankind's future against the evil machines, because that last scene in the original movie hinted that something bigger may be on the horizon. Even though so many of us had seen the first movie and caught on to the hint that there may be more to tell, who knew it would be this massive blockbuster of a film that remains just as popular all these years later. Where the first film briefly touched upon Skynet and gave us brief glimpses at the war that awaits us in the future, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" takes all of that and builds upon it greatly. "T2" explores how events in the original movie actually set into motion the events of the future, shows us a very emotionally raw heroine in Sarah Connor, a different side to the Terminator from the first film, and to top it off gave us even more glimpses into the future battles that will ravage mankind. The only thing I can say about the story for "T2" is that it is simply awesome, and is quite possibly one of the greatest follow-up story's I have ever seen come out of Hollywood.

The cast of "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is comprised of a few familiar faces and some new ones as well. Linda Hamilton reprises her role of Sarah Connor with a much more emotionally charged performance than what was required of her in the original movie. Sarah is a completely different person than she was when we last saw her, now she is this highly trained warrior that is emotionally scarred and torn by what she feels to be her duty to train her son to become the leader of man, and yet to still protect him and care for him as her child. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back, just as he promised in the first movie, as a reprogrammed Terminator, and proves yet again that this was the one role that he was born to play. Even though the character is just a machine, there are very neat moments within the movie where without saying much of anything, Arnold allows the Terminator to convey that there is some kind of connection that exists, a bond if you will, between the Terminator and John. James Cameron's script really aided Arnold in what he was able to do with the Terminator this time around by exploring the fact that the machines can learn from and mimic humans, which allowed Arnold to show some, albeit limited, emotions while still remaining in character.

Joining the returning cast members we have newcomer Edward Furlong ("American History X") as John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance. Considering the fact that "T2" was his first acting gig, Edward did an amazing job of bringing John to life in a very realistic way as a troubled kid whose destiny is too big for him to possibly fathom. The way Edward handled John's interactions with the Terminator was very interesting, because early on John sees the machine as a means to an end, nothing more than an overgrown action figure of sorts; however, over the course of the movie he begins to form a bond with the Terminator that becomes almost like a father-son relationship, that was at times quite poignant. The other new addition to the series was actor Robert Patrick ("We Are Marshall") as the new, deadlier, and much more sophisticated T-1000 Terminator model. Robert was given a very physically challenging role that required a lot of physical activity, but from an acting standpoint the role didn't really challenge him all that much. That being said, as unchallenging as it was onscreen in the acting realm, I'm sure the preparation for all of the visual effects associated with his character were most likely quite time consuming and at times daunting.

In the first movie the visual effects were very good, especially given the time at which the film was made, although over time I admit that some of the effects have lost their luster. While that statement is true for 1984's "The Terminator", it couldn't be farther from the truth when referring to the stellar special effects work done for 1991's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". While technology has definitely improved significantly since 1991, the effects within this movie still hold up quite well, and while maybe not as perfect as today's effects, they are still very impressive in their own right. For example the morphing technology, used to create the numerous effects sequences for the liquid Terminator, was so mind-blowing back in 1991, and yet even today it still looks astonishing.

As I stated earlier, while "The Terminator" was a great movie, what James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger were able to achieve with the sequel "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is simply amazing. Everything about this movie is just bigger and better than what was done in the original film, and this is an example of the kind of sequel that all studios should strive for when making a franchise.

"Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is rated R for violence and language.

5 comments about Battlestar Galactica - Season Three.
  1. Season 3 is the best yet - amazing episodes and story lines. Does not disappoint!

  2. I love this new series of Battlestar Galactica, but Season 3 is much more the soap opera than the preceding seasons. Prepare to learn about everyone's disfunctional relationships in most episodes, along with extended head trips within Baltar's psyche. This is not to say that there isn't any good action, but fewer and farther between than in previous seasons.

  3. Season three of Battlestar Galactica was just as the pundits panned it...a drag! I kept hoping that the next episode or next disc would wake my feet up, but in the end I just gave up and plugged in season one "the mini series" for relief. I also wanted to remember what the damn thing was all about again.

I hope season four is "back on course", so to speak. Season three left me longing for the 1970s series (frightening as that might sound).

  4. Season 3 was great. I think it suffered less from a mid-season lull than season 2 did. Of the two "stand alone" episodes, the first two on disk 5, only one could I understand any complaints. I thought Dirty Hands was great. It reminded me of a quality STAR TREK TNG episode that really made you think. It was great. And then other than those 2 or, possibly 3 stand alones, everything is moving forward great. There was no lull. I give season 3 5 BIG stars and call it the best season, if you remove the "new factor" from season one.

  5. From the first part to the end, season 3 is extraordinary TV. The new home followed by the invasion was suspenseful, difficult, intriguing and just about any other superlative you can throw at it. Col Tigh, Roslin, Chief, Starbuck are all in top form for this season. Lee Adama, while not in top physical form, nonetheless plays a key role as well. From the ultrahot #6 to the other cylons we've all known to love and hate, the action and drama are both equally on display. I know I will see this whole series again in the near future but season 3 will always be the best one.

5 comments about Stargate Atlantis - The Complete Fourth Season.
  1. super season it just takes to long to get the next one. But I guess this what the company wants. :-)

    I can recommend this season.

  2. I have enjoyed all of the Stargate Atlantis series, including season 4. I plan to also purchase season 5 when it is available on DVD. (And I would have purchased the later seasons if the show had not been canceled).

In season 4, I especially enjoyed the episodes about Todd (Sheppard's Wraith "friend" from late season 3) and the ones on/partially on Earth. And of course, the solution to season 3's dramatic finale (the city of Atlantis drifting lost in space, and almost out of power to sustain the shield) was excellent.

  3. sorry I cannot give you a review as I was unable to watch it as it was not compatable for Australia. I have now returned it to you and am awaiting a refund. Many thanks
    Sue Cox

  4. It's a nice distraction but after so many seasons its becoming kind of the same.

  5. Thank goodness that a good space opera series is still being made.
They really try to put out a quality show with stargate atlantis.
This series may not be as exciting as season 3 overall but it's still a
good show and well worth watching. I do think it was a mistake to
remove the head of atlantis; the dr. wier character from the show, just as removing Dr. Becket character from the previous series was not the best move in my opinion. Still it takes guts to remove major characters and the Samantha Carter character does a good job at being the bases new leader. She has to let the others do most of the work though as she mainly runs the base. I still loved the show though due to it's overall quality and fine acting so it's worth watching for even non stargate fans who enjoy good sci fi that is very well made.

5 comments about Supernatural - The Complete First Season.
  1. The first season keeps you wondering whats going on..Jeffery Dean Morgan is amazing!! Well worth the watch!

  2. Supernatural - The Complete First SeasonVERY EXCITING SERIES AND VERY GOOD ACTING BY JENSEN ACKLES AND JARED PADALECKI. THE BROTHERS TEAM MAKE FOR A VERY SATISFYING SHOW. IF YOU HAVE SEEN IT GET THE BOXSETS. TRY IT YOU WILL LIKE IT NOW AND LOVE IT LATER.

  3. In season one of most series, you're sort of getting a lot of bits and peices. Mostly because the bulk of the money and imagination was spent on the pilot before the networks decide to pick up certain shows. If you're not a patient person, or really into the genre of this show then you probably won't be blown away. It is worth the watch though, even if this is not your kind of show. If for no other reason, simply because of the leads Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. The latter really is a truly gifted actor with mannerisms and a persona that really make his character of Dean believable. Jared comes into his own as Sam also. But watching for the different directors in each episode and their styles is also fun. And once you begin to see where the creators and writers are taking you with the mythology of this series, you really get hooked. It's because they somehow manage to make a weekly creature-feature and include the over-arching story line in every episode at the same time. And it's nice to be able to tell when the people involved seem to enjoy making the show as well, as is evident in Supernatural. And it only gets better as the series progresses through seasons.

  4. I bought this DVD television series, never having seen it on television; due to its premise looking interesting. Two good looking men, one a blue collar type and the other a pre-law college graduate, take up the family business of hunting monsters and ghosts due to their father going on a ghost hunting mission from which he has never returned. The acting on the episodes is superb (Jensen Ackles being the real standout), the writing is excellent (most of the episodes are both horrifying yet funny at the same time) and the special effects are great. If you are a fan of the X-files or Buffy the Vampire Slayer you will also like this series.

    The episodes that are included:

Episode I (pilot) Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) hook up due to their Dad being on a "hunting trip" from which he has never returned. They encounter a mysterious ghost, and accomplish their first ghost killing mission together as adults. Sam's girlfriend mysteriously dies the same way the boys Mother died soon after Sam was born.

Wendigo Sam and Dean encounter a a strange spirit of Indian lore while hunting for their Father.

Dead in the Water A series of drownings in a lake in Wisconsin soon becomes seen by Sam and Dean as the work of a vengeful spirit

Phantom Traveler A jet crashes due to a phantom that takes over pilots/random people/stewardesses on a flight. Sam and Dean attempt an airborn exorcism.

Bloody Mary Sam and Dean discover a ghoul who lives in mirrors who gorges out the eyes of its prey that must be stopped

Skin A demonic shape shifter, who also appears at one point as Dean, causes a lot of mischeif and mayhem.

Hook Man Based on the suburban myth of the man with a hook who attacks couples on dates

Bugs Sam and Dean investigate outbreaks of insects in a developement that was once a sacred Indian land (that has a curse attached)

Route 666 Sam and Dean investigate a series of murders by someone-or something-in a big truck that targets African American victims at first. A pretty blonde who is a recurring character with a secret starts appearing.

Nightmare The two brothers pose as priests in order to gain access to a house where their has been a mysterious murder. Sam realizes his psychic abilities.

The Benders Shades of Deliverance abound in this tale about backwoods people who like to hunt humans. Sam is taken as a prize and Dean has to rescue him

Shadow A shadow killer is hunting random people-or so it seems. Sam uses his psychic powers to help find potential victims.

Hell House A house is a place for a homicidal spirit, but Sam and Dean's efforts are thwarted by a pair of strange paranormal investigators who want to use ghosts to pick up girls.

Something Wicked A witch is terryfying a small town, and this witch has ties to the boyhoods of the Winchester brothers.

Provenance A portrait of a long dead family has an equally horrifying history and causes murders when purchased.

Dead Mans Blood The boys Father (played by Jeffrey DEan Morgan) is finally reunited with his sons. The Vampires have gotten possession of a gun that is rumoured to kill anything, ghost or demonic.

Salvation A demonically possessed woman Sam met reappears, with disasterous consequences-she wants the gun that can kill anything, and John (the boys Father) is kidnapped so she can get it.

Devil's Trap This is the season finale. Anything is game concerning the gun, and getting back Dad. A riveting final shot ends the series of season I

Also, the special features are wonderful on this DVD set, particularly the Gag real. Buy it, it is worth your time.

  5. I love everything I order from amazon most of the time. Anyway I love this DVD set b/c it shows where the show started in a way where you couldn't see it in the TV show. I loved it truly and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Supernatural the show. And even if you aren't a fan of the show this a great way for you to see what the show is all about trust me you will get hooked!! Always ~~prissy~~

5 comments about Firefly - The Complete Series.
  1. A wonderfully mixed crew of nine, and raw space adventure
I am so sorry ended too soon. Terrific set.

  2. At first it looks and sounds light and even amateurish, and then you understand it is fully positioned on another level. It is a mixture of several genres within the frame of a science-fiction film entirely contained in , and around, a special spaceship called Serenity, a spaceship that is a firefly, a bug, a burning insect. The first genre is the functional and psychological happenings within a team of nine people who are together for both the best and the worst, in order to transform the worst into the best, or at least the better by being together. The team is limited to nine people, a perfect diabolic and satanic number, and no manipulation like Serenity is the tenth character will take that dimension away. Nine is perfect because you always have at least one who is totally set apart from the regrouping of people into couples or pairs. And in the end you wonder who is the one who is really apart, who is totally odd, alone because of the various and subtle compositions with only one couple that is really defined as such and all the others being transient, multiple, varied, changing, shifting at various levels of possible realization. In a way it is Star Trek revisited but without all the hullaballoo that goes along with the soldiers, the mechanics, the petty personnel of a flagship. The second genre is of course, recurrent and varied too, the western but in many realizations too. Of course we have the very traditional space western or space cowboy film, like in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, seen from the point of view of the driver marooned on the side of the road after having been forced to lend his car. But there is more. We can think of other models: Dead or Alive, Bonanza (even), Mad Max, a vague allusion to Star wars with the Alliance, a lot of Jules Verne, William Gibson and a few others, even at times, though they might not know it, Ron Hubbard, and the bordello in the desert is so close to some Indian bordello in some Bollywood classic. We do not have John Wayne and the Indians, but we can afford not to have that genocidal side of the western. The next genre is more trendy and modern with some kind of loose and yet very emotional sensual, erotic even, life or imagination. Many allusions, visual or linguistic, and even here and there an allusion to gay people, slack, as they come up like in one episode, though this side of personal life is warded off nicely, and the allusion to crazy, insane and yet envisaged incest was purely rejected from the series and is a supplementary scene, meaning, a censored one, even if self-censored. We could go on for ever with that game. But what is important is that the film or the series is highly original in the end. It is deeply human and humane, deeply attached to justice and fairness, even with someone who trips into treachery for a slight moment, or one episode. At the same time it is ruthless and even maybe cruel by indifference like when bringing the millionaire to the easy lady he had made pregnant and whose child he had tried to steal knowing that he was going to be shot blank on the spot by the mother, or also when they get rid of the bounty-hunter by just pushing him into space where he is going to die slowly, except of course if he shortens his life himself and commits suicide. The series is also highly imaginative and each episode really has a knack and appeal of its or their own. We enter the episode and we will be released only when the case is concluded. Each episode is perfectly self-contained, even when what is announced in one episode does not take place in the next one because the announcement is the punch line of the concerned episode and it would unbalance the next episodes if it were made true. So they whirl around with a pirouette, when they bother, or they just forget, or they think of it and discard it to the supplementary scenes. Self-containment is the best quality of each of these episodes. In other words quite a successful series that, it is true, found its magic achievement in that final symbolic metaphoric blending of Serenity and River, of the escaping spaceship and the mentally disarrayed girl. Then the team is one and the odd shot of that team becomes the heart and soul of it in this final blending. The route has been run from the beginning to the end and the final harbor has been reached beyond all the deserts and dangers possible. They can live happily ever after. There is a certain fairy tale dimension in this series, and it is one of its stronger assets.

Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, University Paris Dauphine, University Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne & University Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines

  3. As my brother said, this is Star Trek should have been. It's funny, but it also has more layers than that and the characters have various strengths and weaknesses. You know, like real people. Not like the cardboard cutouts in most TV series, who each have one defining characteristic.

The only flaw is the Inara character, who is a "Companion," the polite name for a unionized hooker. Sometimes this is used to advance the plot, but there are a number of sex scenes (fairly explicit for prime time TV) which serve no purpose except to fill time. So you might want to put the little ones to bed as you enjoy this fine series.

  4. The world is divided into people who get Firefly and people who don't. In this series Joss Whedon created one of the most realistic post-war visions of the future ever committed to tape, that at the same time spoke about yesterday and today. Maybe a little too much today for its own good.

The series is anti-corporate, anti-government and, while it takes the stand that some things are worth fighting for, it is largely anti-war. No wonder FOX did everything in its power to kill it off, including airing episodes out of order, skipping weeks after airing only three eps and, inevitably canceling the show without even airing episodes 12, 13 and 14 (out of 15). This was particularly damaging, as Firefly had a greater sense of ongoing plot than any other Whedon series in its first year. Viewers were left wondering, on more than one occasion, when a character would reference something we hadn't seen yet.

The backstage dramatics aside, Firefly is intelligent and, like Buffy, mythic - except this time Whedon is dealing with the myth of America: the Frontier, the Civil War, the rise of the Corporation, etc . . .

Firefly is a demanding show. It asks its audience to appreciate the shades of Grey in its characters' moral scale. The villains are not comfortingly dressed as an alien race. In 500 years mankind will still be its own worst enemy. Technology will be in the hands of a privileged few, and others will in "The Black" - Whedon's frontier third world - where it is possible to exist without the interference (or benefit) of civilization and government. Things will be dirty, and used. Firefly creates a universe that almost totally opposes that of (that bastion of television sci-fi) Star Trek: its Federation-like central power (the Alliance) is interpreted as being oppressive and dystopic. We are on the side of those who resisted (like the Maqui) and lost.

The acting is strong, the writing as excellent, funny and moving as on any Whedon show, and the effects and sets create a consistent, believable world. It is a shame the series didn't have a more hospitable environment in which to grow and become all it could have been.

  5. GREAT SET
I WISH THAY HAD DONE MORE
I LOVE SUMMER AND THE REST
A MUST HAVE TIES IN THE MOVIE

  1. I enjoyed Continuum much more. Maybe because it gives closure to the series. But, if you have enjoyed Stargate SG-1 all these years, you will enjoy this DVD then.

  2. This is just an episode of Stargate, SG-1. It is not a movie by any measure.

  3. I love the stargate television shows Stargate SG-1 & Stargate Atlantis, when i saw this was available i had to add it to my collection

  4. A great addition to the Stargate universe. This gives an end to an on-going storyline without sacrificing the story. It's good to see all the same characters fight the good fight. I really enjoy this movie.

  5. If you enjoyed the series and were looking for a wrap up of the lose stings left went it ended you will most likely like this movie. I really enjoyed this movie and recommend it for any SG-1 fan looking for closure. I found it to be a satisfying wrap up to a story line of a series that I have enjoyed since the original theater movie came out. Of course any chance to see Claudia Black and Amanda Tapping again would get four stars, minimum from me.

  1. This is one of my favorite movies. A good combination of drama, comedy and just a little bit of cheesiness makes it very entertaining. It has a great soundtrack as well.

  2. I loved this movie, can't believe I havent seen it before. Wonderful cast and acting. If you like a little real majick you will definitely enjoy this movie.

  3. Yes, I am perfectly aware that this movie strays far and away from the book (which I also happen to love). However, I think the wonderful themes were kept and the story changed enough to give this film its own magic.

I like it because it tells the tales of two very different women who happen to be sisters. I like sisterhood tales because I'm sentimental that way. And, call me a sucker, but I loved the dreamy romance. I know relatively little about Wicca and don't wish to accidentally offend anyone, but I kind of liked the witchcraft this film portrayed. It was pretty, classic, and properly spooky.

Nicole Kidman is a goddess and Sandra Bullock is as cute as they come. The rest of the cast certainly held their own.

It's cute, spooky, and gives warm fuzzies. That's good enough for me and I have proclaimed this my favorite movie for about ten years now.

4 comments about Firefly: The Complete Series [Blu-ray].
  1. Since the FireFly series is one of the greatest TV shows to grace the Tube, this is going to be amazing on Blu-Ray. With all the same features as the DVD set, and some more commentaries, since Jewel Staite was called to see if she would like to do another commentary for this release of the show, going to be even better. Can't wait, oh and if you've never seen FireFly, go ahead and stop reading this, pre-order it, and then go any buy it on DVD (Super cheap anyway) and once your done watching it on DVD, you'll be ready to re-watch again on Blu-Ray... Gonna be a mighty fine shindig!

*Here's to hoping that big sales of the Blu-Ray release will help make another movie or... even better... start plans to bring the show back...*

  2. Ever since the release of Serenity on HD-DVD, everyone and I mean everyone, have been anxiously awaiting this. If you haven't seen this series yet, you're in for a treat. Joss Whedon created a once in a lifetime masterpiece. Like all of us(Browncoats), you will watch the series and like Oliver you will be asking "more please". Fortunately, Serenity was made and I'm sure will be released to Blu-ray soon.(are you reading this Universal Studios?)

  3. See the DVD reviews. This is a well done show that never had a chance to flourish beyond 1 season and a movie. Honestly, I prefer it that way. Japanese anime follows a similar TV format and the stream of great programing is amazing.

Back on track, it basically is a mix of Sci-fi and western... I hate westerns (not my genre), but love Firefly... Why? Well, it has great character development... likeable characters (all of them), and good humor. Honestly, I think anyone that can give the series a chance will LOVE it.

I identify most with River, but I have a bit of Capt. in me too... Like Capt. Morgan, JK.

  4. This time in Blu Ray, now where is Serenity in Blu? No date, why not?

This is going to be awesome, I already preordered it and will watch it as soon as it gets here.

5 comments about The X-Files: I Want to Believe (Three-Disc Special Edition + Digital Copy).
  1. An embarrassment to the entire X-Files story. Dialogue was ridiculously bad. Huge gaps in dialogue for lack of anything to say so some dialogue is repeated to make filler.

  2. I can't believe this is being called an X-Files movie! This piece of junk pales to even the worse ever episode of the series. It doesn't even come close. Why Scully and Mulder were raked through the mud of this movie is beyond me and is a total embarrassment. I am a huge X-Fils fan but this movie made me sick. The whole story sucked as did the attempt to make it creepy? The political agenda behind this movie makes me wanna puke in the faces of the writers. It was so entrenched in the plot that you had to be blind not to see it.
I hope they never make another X-files movie again because they don't deserve the chance and shame on the actors for making this one.
X-Files my a**!!!! This movie is CRAP!!

  3. The most underrated film of the summer? I think so. Maybe people were expecting aliens, i don't know, but the movie is not as nearly as bad as some make it out to be.

I got into the fantastic show only 2 years ago, so maybe it's fresher in my mind about what the X-Files is all about. It's not a CGI mess, nothing like that. It's a verbal thinking movie where you have to actually watch the film instead of waiting for high tech explosions that you see in movies like 'The Dark Knight'. It's always what X-Files was, and it's the same with this movie.

The story is not as bad as others make it out to be as well. Maybe not supernatural or paranormal(there was a physic however), but more of a freaky type of story. Also, it's about Mulder and Scully just as much. It's what the X-Files has become.. and it's really played out well. The acting from the two is great, anyone saying otherwise is wrong. Some complain that series favorites didn't show up. Well, this isn't a mythology(alien) movie.. and that's where you would see them. We did however get to see Skinner again, which was great.

The only downer about the film is that there's moments that seem slow, and this movie definately could have benefited from another month of production. Don't blame that on Chris Carter though, as FOX is the ones that wanted the movie out a week after 'The Dark Knight'.

This movie is highly underrated, and deserves more credit then people are giving it. It's about Mulder and Scully, and that's the joust of what we got. Be appreciative that they came back, because it could be the last time you see them again. I guess the only thing I can suggest is go into watching the movie not expecting much, and I think you'll be surprised. Hopefully an XF3 is made... but we'll see.

  4. We waited so long and this is the story we got? Well it IS a typical X-files episode. I almost felt like I was sitting in my living room watching another season finale. But for a movie in theater it lacked a little. I think we all expected big bangs and special effects, like in the first movie. This one felt low budget.
There are 3 plots going on, Scully and Mulder's relationship, Scully trying to save a little boy, and Mulder helping the FBI to locate a missing agent kidnapped by a modern day Frankenstein. I was glad to see Skinner, I liked his part. I was disappointed to hear Amanda Peat was cast because I can't stand her, but I was pleasantly surprised, in this I actually really liked her! I think she was my favorite character. The role suited her well. She seemed to have the hots for Mulder. I am so disappointed with the direction they took her character toward the end.
I didn't like Scully's character all the time, the fact that she pushed Mulder into helping the FBI and then when he did, she told him he better stop or she'll leave him.???? I really didn't like the pedophile character. They make me nauseous. Plus the pedophile was kind of one of the good guys.???? Never in my book!
I think this episode was important because we see that they are no longer fugitives, and they are in a solid relationship. Now that we have all that out of the way, in the next movie I would like to see something about their son. Overall I think the movie should have had a better plot and way better special effects. Also the tension needed to be cut with a little humor. It was pretty on the edge of your seat stuff but lacked the X-Files humor I like so much. I hope they make another one, but thanks to the grumbling of the fans we may never see another X-Files.

  5. Instead of hollow SFX ladden trite Hollywood is serving us since "Jurassic Park", "X Files: I want to believe" is an excellent character study that deepens the relation between two TV icons, reveals their human dilemmas, and makes the viewer actually THINK about faith, believing, good and evil. Excellent acting, atmospheric photography and suggestive music score only cement the effect. I was not surprised that the audience that made "Dark Knight" a superhit, burried this gem at the box office. Chris Carter does not have anything to be ashamed of here, on the contrary. My deepest respect and gratitude!
I understand that this is going to be one of the best Blu-ray packages so far, concernig special features, pitty that FOX only makes region locked Blu-ray discs...

1 comments about Futurama: Bender's Game.
  1. I saw an early release of this movie and it is great. If you liked episodes such as "The Route of All Evil" or "A Taste of Freedom", then you will find this one very funny. My favorite part was when the evil robots use magic to turn Leela into a centaur. Fry goes on to ride her pretty hard.

Buy this now if your looking for some good laughs!
