5 comments about Escape to God: A Desperate Search for His Presence.
- This is a very personal search beyond hypocritical religion to discovering God in a profound and life changing way. But this search is framed without trying to "put a favorable spin" on the challenging and sometimes very humorous experiences of a "city family" trying to "make-it" in the wild and harsh wilderness of Glacer National Park.
The beauty of God's character is highlighted while your own religious experience will be challenged.
- This book changed my life & that of my family. I was so impressed with it that I ordered 10 of them to give to other family members & friends. I long to have the relationship with my Lord & Savior that Jim & Sally found. I realize not everyone can move to the wilderness but I now know that it can be obtained where I am. I found what has been missing in my life all these years.

- A truly practical guide to experiencing the presence of God in one's life. This is a page-turner. It makes a great gift. I have given a copy to my dad and mom, my sister, my co-worker. I plan to give additional copies as Christmas presents and you should too. You might change the direction of someone's life for the better.
- Enjoyable to read. Full of personal experiences from the author's life that will keep your interest while at the same time serve as a "how to" guide to enhance your life. You won't be sorry if you buy it.
- There are some good points made in this book, but I disliked it for two main reasons.
The author moved to a mountain home in Montana to "escape to God". In the New Testament, the pattern for Christ's disciples is an active involvement in the world, not a retreat from it. Jesus ate with sinners and tax collectors. After their respective conversions, Paul, Barnabas, Timothy, Peter, et al. did not retreat to some mountain hideaway, thinking that they could avoid contamination by the world--they actively ministered and powerfully spread the gospel by staying in the culture in which God had placed them.
The other pattern in the book I disliked was the way the author constantly listened to voices that he heard (which he presumed to be the Holy Spirit) telling him what to do. The great eighteenth century minister and theologian John Wesley said, "Do not hastily ascribe things to God. Do not easily suppose dreams, voices, impressions, visions, or revelations to be from God. They may be from Him. They may be from nature. They may be from the devil. Therefore 'believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they be of God'." In other words, Scripture, not our impressions (which may or may not be from God), should be our guide.
The author does seem like a nice guy, but I wouldn't advise anyone, especially a new Christian, to read this book due to the fact that it seems to favor retreat from the world instead of active involvement in it and relying mainly on voices and impressions for guidance.

3 comments about The Crisis of the End Time: Keeping Your Relationship With Jesus in Earth's Darkest Hour.
- This book provides the reader with background information on what to expect in the final days of earth's history as we approach The Crisis of The End Time. The book provides very practical advice on exactly how we should go about developing and deepening our relationship with Jesus Christ as we enter this awesome period.
A clear vision of what events we can expect to precipitate the persecution of the Saints is given along with signs that the trouble is about to begin. This is a guide book to spiritual survival for the Christian in the end time.
- No other book on the topic of "End Times" paints a clearer picture in the mind than this book! Marvin Moore walks you very carefully through biblical prophecies that have already taken place in our world, and through this world's END TIME CRISIS events which are soon to occur, as foretold straight from the Bible.
Be prepared so you won't be deceived! Tomorrow will reflect how you react today.... A MUST READ book for anyone wanting to know the truth about the Second Coming of Christ Jesus..
- My goodness, 14 years as an SDA was TOO long!!! Marvin Moore takes Adventist prophecy to new heights of historical and theological ignorance in his latest piece of end-times FICTION. I encourage my Adventist friends to read up on the history presented here, without Adventist or even general Christian bias. Just a 2nd glance from first a historical then theological viewpoint at some of Moore's conclusions will open your eyes to the follies of man concerning the mysteries of God. ...

1 comments about Messages to Young People.
- This book has blessed me beyond measure. It gives inspired and scriptual answers to questions young people have and motivation to live life God's way. The section titles are: God's purpose for the youth, conflict with sin, gaining victories, walking in the light, preparation for life work, service, health and efficiency, devotional life, stewardship, home life, dress and adornment, social relations, courtship and marriage. It is an awsome book that has caused me to sqirm in my seat with conviction, but then move on and overcome. Please buy this one for sure.

5 comments about Steps to Christ.
- "Steps to Christ" is a wonderful book! If you could just read one book, this would definitely be the best one to read indeed! It brings God's love closer to you than you could ever imagine. It opens your eyes to just how much God really loves you, a love that none of us deserve. This is a must-read classic! I would highly encourage anyone to get this book and read it and pass it on! You'll never be the same. It opens to the heart the great impact of the Gospel and shows the way, the only Way, to salvation-Jesus Christ.
- Of Ellen G. White's many astounding books, this is probably her best seller. Literally in the tens-of-millions. A beautiful guide to understanding and personally accepting Jesus Christ and His Grace. The perfect gift for anyone even considering following the Son of God. And despite false accusations from many, after reading her inspired works you'll better understand why she is America's all-time best selling female author, and most widely translated of any gender. A beautiful light to the real Biblical Jesus.
- This is one of the best Biblically-based books that I have read on the lift of Jesus! I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to learn more about Jesus Christ. It's a must buy, in my opinion.
- Without a doubt, once one has read this gem of a book, it will be confessed that Steps to Christ is one of the Greatest Christian Classics of all time! One of the greatest things that the author, Ellen G. White, has done, is take the complexity out of a relationship with Christ that has been portrayed by too many who do not clearly understand. She shows a clear and steady path that can be followed by any and all who sincerely want to come close to Jesus. Because the author had such a great understanding of what it means to surrender, trust, and to follow Jesus, she is able to give in simple, easy to understand language, step by step guidance to bring the child of God into a life of humility, repentance, forgiveness, prayer, and service! As I was recommended to by my University Professors, to read this book at least once a year for the rest of my life, I have found over and over again deeper and deeper insight to my relationship with Christ, bringing me closer to His desire for me! My hope is that you will pick it up and read it too, that you may know the Sweet Jesus that I have learned of!
- This is one of the best books I have ever read on the Christian walk. I would highly recommend this book to any new Christians. It is deep without being overwhelming. After reading this book, I immediately began ordering more Ellen White books. I haven't been disappointed with any of them.

5 comments about The Desire of Ages.
- Read it and see. As if one were stepping into the world of Israel 2,000 years ago. Even into the various individual lives themselves. A great companion to that greatest of all books, the Bible. We find a real Jesus, with a real man's body, and a real man's voice, yet with the compassion of God Almighty. For He was also God in the flesh. The true God He came to reveal. Not the one shrouded in superstition and tradition, but the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah. For the honest reader looking for a blessing, the Prince of Peace will touch the soul, after the reading of this inspired commentary of the Holy Gospels.
- The Desire of Ages is an interesting book that gives information above and beyond what is given by the Bible. In that it was written by someone who claims the prophetic gift, that is understandable and expected, but it can be unsettling for those who don't know about, or believe her claims.
Even for those things that included in the Bible, the author gives a unique twist, for instance Pilate's question to Christ -- "What is truth?" the author gives a different interpretation of Pilates motives and attitude in asking the question and why the question is never answered by Jesus than any other author I have ever read.
Also, the author gives little golden nuggets on how differences between the gospels are harmonized that is exceptionally compelling while not doing violence to the text like many other authors do.
All in all a beautiful book that thoroughly uplifts people to Jesus.
Now I wish someone would do a review of the narrator of the audio recording of the book!
- I have read this book so many times, that my first copy fell apart. It blesses me every time I read it.
"Everywhere men are unsatisfied. They long for something to supply the need of the soul. Only One can meet that want. The need of the world, "The Desire of all nations," is Christ." p. 187
"He who tastes of the love of Christ will continually long for more; but he seeks for nothing else. The riches, honors, and pleasures of the world do not attract him. The constant cry of his heart is, More of Thee. And He who reveals to the soul its necessity is waiting to satisfy its hunger and thirst. Every human resource and dependence will fail. The cisterns will be emptied, the pools become dry; but our Redeemer is an inexhaustible fountain. We may drink, and drink again, and ever find a fresh supply." p. 187
- I have read this several times. It is an EXCELLENT commentary on the life of Jesus Christ, replete with Scriptural references. You see what God is REALLY like, not an opinion expressed by someone who has never studied the Bible, but an account shared by the Bible itself and spoken from one who served Him and saw Him as Lord and best friend.
Beware, after you read this, not only will your life be changed but you will want to study the Bible for yourself to become close to Him !
It is a book that I purchase and give to friends, strangers and anyone who is searching for truth and meaning in life.
- Much of this book is copied from "Night Scenes in the Bible" by Rev. Daniel March and is not even White's own original thought. Why not just read the original?

2 comments about Before the Flames: Story of David Koresh and the Davidian Seventh-Day Adventists.
- To be honest, I did not like this book. The printing was filled with errors which really irritates me. I expected the book to spend significant time discussing David Koresh and the events which led to the fire at Waco. However this book spend the bulk of its pages discussing everything that happened before David Koresh. It comes off as a very dry read. The history which led up to David Koresh really is not that interesting. The only good points this book receives from me is for the few pages in which Koresh is actually discussed. Pass this book up unless you want to read up on the history of the Seven Day Adventists.
- This book has much useful information, but the bias of the author shows. Houteff certainly shines in comparison with Roden and Howell/Koresh who led the Branch Davidians to disaster, but Houteff suffered from many of the same delusions as his successors. The book whitewashes Houteff's many problems and only discusses his side of the dispute with the SDA church.
