1 comments about Adobe Fireworks CS3 Upgrade [OLD VERSION].
  1. Originally, I purchased the Design Premium Suite which does not have FireWorks in it. Then, I decided to switch my web site over to Joomla. I purchased a template from RocketTheme. They use FireWorks in their video tutorials. I learned many of the features of the program including the native PNG files it creates. FireWorks PNGs are fully editable which is not so with PhotoShop, etc. Therefore, I purchased it and use it as my web graphic editor for Joomla. It was a nice upgrade for around $150. If you used ImageReady regularly, you will like FireWorks CS3.

5 comments about Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier - Single User [AntiVirus, Utilities, GoBack, Ghost, CheckIT].
  1. My 2002 Norton Systemworks service, a reliable, seamless product was due to expire at the end of March 2006. Naturally, I tried to renew the subscription but was directed by Symantec web site to continue service by the only available option, the wonderous 2006 Internet Security/Systemworks package. My 2002 version would no longer support a simple yearly extension as it did three consecutive years prior. Without hesitation, I paged into the Symantec web site and purchased the new version online. After a successful download, I proceeded to install the product, only to have it cough up an error message halfway through the process. Strangely enough, the progress bar on the install began to go backwards and then submit a pop-up message directing me to click a link and follow the instructions within. Unfortunately, all my files on my system turned into dead links with a .lnk extension and would not open, including the message itself. I could not even open up the control panel, and the process of booting into safe mode and other failsafe methods proved futile. I did open up my administration error logs and found that this accursed product from hell tampered with my registry, particularly the class root portion that controls the file extension, and that the explorer.exe shell related to this situation was also disabled.

Notwithstanding, I had to completely reinstall Windows XP from scratch.

So far I have received a credit for the download fee but not for the disastrous product itself after filling out a letter of destruction form; a refund request takes 7 to 10 business days, but that time allotment is about to expire, and I will raise holy hell if my refund goes undelivered.

The "customer support" seems well hidden behind a shroud of links that do not lead to an actual service tech. I wonder why?

Just for the record, avoid this bloated, ineffectual piece of garbage with all costs. Go with a freebie like AVG7 combined with Ad-Aware, Zone Alarm, and other tools, which defeat the purpose of being taken for a ride by the likes of this company...

  2. If this was only about performance i would have to give a 5 star rating. But this is not about performance. I bought my norton sys.works a little over a year ago. recently i bought a new computer when i went to install sys.works on it it said it had been installed on too many computers. Told me to send in my copy of norton along w/serial# and the receipt from where i purchased it. now its been over a year, now if some of you guys out there deep receipts like this over a year, then maybe its just me, buts but the amount it cost me for the software i expect it to be mine. But now because i don't have a receipt they are taking it back

  3. I've not much opinion about most of NSW, but I do have to say that I've used both NSW 2003 and 2005, with each clobbering my system nearly outright.

    My systems: Win XP Pro SP2 / 3.0 Ghz P4 / 800 Mhz FSB

When I switched to NOD32 all the slowness vanished. As a software engineer for 20 years, I am well aware of how programs can bloat.

And this one is an unbelievable dog.

  4. For over fourteen years I had been using Norton's utilities, starting with my first 8088 PC, but I will never purchase any product from Symantec again. Attempting to purchase and update Norton's antivirus utility proved to be one of my most challenging computer tasks to date. Removing all traces of Norton from my system after finally deciding to forgo using Norton was just as difficult. It may have been quicker to have reformatted my hard drives and to have reinstalled all my software - it certainly would have been less frustrating. Norton provided no help in the matter.

  5. Ater all the negative reviews this product suffered here, and on other boards, I will NOT be buying SystemWorks.
It seems like this product is being served before it's time and they need to spend more time in QA than a rush to market. Let them experiment on their own machines - my data is a not a 'field test'

No way will I buy this at this time.... thanks for all the critical reviews.

  1. Don't waste your time with the Plus version that gives you the backup options. I disabled it shortly after installing as it greatly increased the startup time. It seemed to do a complete backup check every time.

  2. Works ok, however, you cannot quickly turn it off when necessary. Seems to be a bit of a memory hog. I no longer use this product.

  1. This product works as claimed, and the interface is well designed and easy to use, with lots of customizing options. An update some time after I purchased went smoothly and easily, and online support forum is friendly, lively, and informative.

  2. Window washer is a neat program that frees up alot of space by erasing un-needed stuff on your computer. It is a little to much money for all it does.

  3. This product is too expensive for the little it does. It is a lame duck compared to Webroot Spy Sweeper. Ultra wincleaner one click is a far better product.

  4. Easy to use, does what it claims, many options for technical intrest or at the same time can be used very simply.

  5. I've used the free version for years, but finally broke down and bought this for real. Very glad that I did. my buddy's new used computer would take 4 hours to defrag and never get close to a quarter of the way done until he used window washer. He ran it 2 or 3 times and then it cleared the way for his defrag to work. His puter is running perfectly now

  1. I am a freelance web designer. I know basic Flash MX, enough to do Flash intros and simple presentations. However, I chose not to offer Flash services to my clients because I am a stay at home parent, who freelances on the side. I just didn't have the time to do any Flash work. As anyone who uses Flash knows even a simple and short Flash intro can be quiet time consuming to build.

Thanks to Motion Artist 3.0, I have now started offering Flash to my clients. You can literally do in minutes what could takes hours in Flash MX. Motion Artist has multiple animations built in. For example, if you want a piece of text to fade in simply click the text and then choose Fade In from the list of animations and that's it. There is a very easy to use timeline that allows you to control each piece of your project. There is a slider for each object in the timeline. You can make it shorter or longer to control the length of an animation. You can also drag it to another location in the timeline to determine the order in which that object executes.

I haven't had a chance to build a full Flash site yet, but from playing around with the various features, it seems like it wouldn't take too long. There are some built in templates, for menus and the like, but I haven't gotten around to using them yet.

I highly recommend this product for people who build websites. I wish I had heard about it sooner.

  2. This is a good program for those who want to make some pretty cool websites. I wasn't expecting much because I just wasn't. I use Director 8.5 for animating 2D fun stuff.

    The Good:
    1. It's very easy and comes with a lot of built in features such as fade in and fade out.
    2. The timeline is like a score if you use Director.
    3. It's very simple and easy to master.
    4. Thank God you don't need to script in any computer language.
    5. You can easily do tons of stuff at once.

    Now for the bad:
    1. I'm used to dragging the item not seeng a see through version of the characters (cast). I can't stand that when you click straight that it shows the transparent version right on top of the original.
    2. You can't drag your pictures to the background area or use them as backgrounds.
    3. There is no proberties option to make something Matte or Transparent etc. option like in Director when you're animating. So when ever you draw something in a program like paint it comes out when you try dragging it on the screen to be bordered in white.

So the goods out do the bads so I took away one star. It's still a fine program, but with some annoying options that are clearly not in there. I reccomend this to people who want to make a website quickly in a short time.

Director is a very good animating program and you can do a lot more stuff in it with animating. It says on the Motionartist box "Flash animation in minutes" which is true when you think about it, but it is not a serious animating program like making flash movies for the internet. Oh yeah this is also pretty good for making presentations too.
