  1. The headphones are awesome. The bass reflex is great for headphones this size and price. They have great range of motion and durability. When I use them the background noise is almost noexistant. Good for all types of music. I love them.

  2. Really awful headphones, this is my third time replacing them! The connection to the mini jack shorts after awhile and the swivel where the speakers attach to the head band breaks apart.. Happend three times to the same model..

  3. I paid full price for these at Best Buy, and I have already returned one pair to the manufacturer that literally fell to pieces in my hands for no reason. Now my second pair has abruptly stopped working too; the sound cut out for no reason in one ear. They were working fine 24 hours ago when I was wearing them in bed to watch something on my computer. I put them on my desk, put them on last night to wear them out of the house, and all of a sudden Houston, we have a problem.

Not only are the headphones themselves awful; the people at the company are awful too. I got into a fight with the guy who was in charge of orchestrating the first replacement because they forced me to pay my own shipping to get the headphones replaced.

I simply cannot say enough terrible things about this product and this company. I will never buy Phillips again as long as I live, and I heartily encourage others to do the same.

  4. i am rough on headphones and these have been holding up great. i love the sound and feel.

  5. The sound on these headphones are good, I don't have a problem with that. The problem I had with the headphones is the band that fits over your head. Unlike other DJ style headphones, they don't bend to go over your head. It's just stiff, and when you adjust the length, the top just stays flat, so it looks like you're wearing a helment listening to music. I believe that when Philips was making this model of headphones, they ignored how it was supposed to fit around the head. Other than that, if you're looking for good sound, no matter how it feels on you, check these headphones out. Me, I ended up returning these and getiinga much better and confortable brand. Peace.

  1. I just bought it off of AMazon a week ago (which is the lowest price for the full version I have been able to find so far) and IM glad I did. For new people to the software, you may wanna stay with your older version for a bit and just get used to it before shelling out the money, but if your serious about design and making your workflow work to the max for you, this new collection is a must. Tight integration and the help of the version Cue additional file managment software will help even the messiest designer keep thier files inline. If design is what you want to do, then theres no better package to get. Ive been using Photoshop for years and Illustrator and Indesign for a while now and this is defenitly an inovation in design.
I gave it 4 stars due to small problems I had installing the whole suite at once. I have never had the problem with anything else and it was frustrating. But after that its smooth saling.

  2. ...then i needed to contact their technical support because illustrator crashes when you try to label layers. they go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible. no email support. instead you have to ring an area code 206 number and wait until some overworked undertrained person tells you to reinstall the product or the operating system... very helpful. just like their software.

i'll look elsewhere the next time i look for an illustration package or a graphics editor. and i won't even bother discussing their inept page layout program.

  3. No software is perfect, but Adobe comes as close to well designed, intuitive, user-friendly software as I have ever seen. Photoshop and Illustrator have always been the industry standards, and here they are both improved - particularly the digital photographer will be happy with the new photo filters in Photoshop CS, and the much improved file browser and the new filter gallery are also excellent additions. As far as publishing programs are concerned, InDesign is a greatly more intuitive program than Quark at a fraction of its cost, and because its pallets function much the same as in Photoshop and Illustrator, it is an easily acquired program if you are familiar with Adobe software.

I use these programs on a Mac OS X platform and for me they are very stable. I have had none of the crashing problems or tech support difficulties that another reviewer of the Adobe Creative Suite has had. For anyone using many design programs at once, enough RAM is always a requirement for smooth operation. But if you have enough RAM and a Mac platform, you should have no significant problems at all. PCs crash more by their nature because their operating system is not as stable as a Mac's, but still Adobe products are not only more intuitive than Microsoft's (for example), they also will crash far less on a PC than most other types of software (like Microsoft's).

Photoshop and Illustrator have always defined the state of the art for photo editing and raster graphic software respectively, and here Adobe is carrying on the tradition. InDesign looks as though it is fast replacing Quark in the publishing industry as well, so if you are a creative professional you will be more than happy in the end to own the Adobe Creative Suite. What else would you use?

  4. I grew up on Adobe products. They used to include great manuals and tutorials. Now I have paid more and received less. I am trying to learn how to use GoLive but the online manual doesn't make a whole lot of sense. How come a printed manual isn't included? Oh, I have to pay more for it? How come I seem to be paying for printing costs then? Customer support? To get real help I'll have to pay for it. I used Adobe Premiere for Mac but that product got abandoned. I will not buy another Adobe product until they either give more or charge less. If you are getting started with web design I would suggest going somewhere else. That being said... Illustrator and Photoshop are both still great products and the upgrades were easy for me to understand (probably because the last versions I had included a printed manual and tutorials). Let's face it, if it wasn't for OS X, I would have just stuck to the older versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and PageMaker and bought Dreamweaver instead. Photoshop CS - Classroom in a Book = $45. Illustrator CS - Classroom in a Book = $31.50. GoLive CS - Classroom in a Book = $45. InDesign - Classroom in a Book = $45. Acrobat Pro - Classroom in a Book = $45. $211.50 in manuals right there. Its a good product but it keeps on costing you in time and money.

  5. I love the new Adobe CS. It doesn't have a printed manual, but I like the fact that I can click on the help button and search for the answer I need.
I much prefer InDesign over Quark. It is easier to use, and you can set the shortcuts to be the same as Quark if you are having trouble switching over.
I had used other html programs before, and I jumped into GoLive with a limited learning curve. Any questions I had were easily answered by searching the help.
I highly recommend this group of programs!

  1. Windows XP users beware! You'll need lots of bug killer with this supposed "upgrade" - especially the GoLive module.

Speaking as a long time user of Adobe software (Photoshop since version 3.0) this is the most bloated and unstable iteration ever. The added goodies in Photoshop CS would be great, if my (quite adequate) Dell Workstation didn't freeze up every other minute.

Most annoying of all is a screen redraw problem most visible in GoLive CS; a problem that makes GoLive essentially unusable. If you plan to use GoLive - most especially if you have an NVidia graphics card - visit Adobe.com and look through the GoLive User Forum BEFORE you buy the CS version. LOTS of good reading there.

Adobe has (reluctantly) admitted the screen redraw problem to be a "bug" that they are "working" on... but jeez! Wouldn't that bug have been far better stomped on BEFORE Adobe CS was released onto loyal, trusting Adobe users??

To sum it up - BUYER BEWARE! Check out the Adobe Forums before you shell out your hard earned for Adobe CS, because that's where you'll get the real truth about real-world use. Download the trial version of CS if you can - maybe it will run for you... but if not, no money lost.

For now, I'm thinking it's back to my previous versions so I can at least get some work done. In fact, it's so bad - I'm beginning to consider getting a MAC! Aaaargh!!!!

  2. I have spent 9 hours in 2 days on the phone with Dell to try to install this piece of s**t. Version Cue will not install nor will photo shop. No 800 number for support from Adobe. Paid for call and recieved many voice ads for products and was told if I need support call at 'top of the hour'. Dell says the problem is in the installer. Adobe Foroums have pointed to the same but no suggestion has worked. Guess I will work on amazon to try to return it for a full refund, it was shipped defective.

  3. Maybe I’m just lucky, but I haven’t had any problems with this new design collection from Adobe, which represents good value and tight integration for the packages, with a heavy emphasis on the use of .pdf for reliable output compatibility for printing and viewing.

Performance issues may arise for those using computers at the budget end of the spectrum from the likes of Dell, etc. Not because they are poor machines, but because this very featured collection requires reasonably serious hardware to work smoothly in spite of its comparatively modest cost.

My experience suggests that a P4 in excess of 2.4 GHz, loaded with a Gig of good quality RAM, running Windows XP Pro SP2 with NTFS partitions, is likely to prove satisfactory.

Some commentators have considered changing to an Apple computer, but this possibility is unnecessary if a well specified PC is used in the first place.

  4. Before purchasing this package, I read several of the reviews and was scared silly by the warnings. Fortunately, I didn't have any problems loading it and haven't experienced problems using any of the programs. I should add that I am on a Windows XP platform.

The Creative Suite has incorporated several changes in all of the programs, but they remain familiar enough to get through them if you've used the previous versions. The video tour is great even if all of the possibilities seem overwhelming at first. Photoshop is still the industry standard for image manipulation and the new version has some goodies that makes it indispensable. Coupled with new features for Illustrator and InDesign, the Creative Suite package is a great tool for those of us who work as graphic designers or photographers.

Finally, InDesign is very easy to use and offers more features than Quark. Although I love Quark, I wonder if this will be its doom? I hope not, but change is inevitable.

  5. I purchased CS2 several days ago and still have been unable to install it. My hardware (RAM, harddisk space, CPU speed, operating system) all exceed specifications and yet, CS2 won't install past the initial stages. I followed Adobe's troubleshooting guides, including installation from the desktop and Windows Simplified Mode, but absolutely no success. It's unclear where the fault lies (is it Microsoft Windows XP or Adobe CS2?), but I've never had installation problems with software before and it's hard to believe it would occur with such an expensive package from such a major company. Do check the Forums and reviews prior to purchasing this particular package to ensure you're comfortable with the risk. I hope I can get my money back.

  1. All it is is spywear and all its wants to do is uninstall all my other protection, Like the Firewall. I got the technical help and I knew more than them. Don't waste your money.

  2. This thing crashed my computer. I did everything I could think of to remove it, repair the damage, etc. nothing worked. Once installed, you cannot remove it. CA tech support told me my operating system was not supported, even though it is listed as one of the supported systems on the box. We exchanged several e-mails, during which they first tried to blow me off, then offered a non-solution. I ended up formatting my hard drive and starting over. This is malware in a box (in my opinion).

  3. This product is not very good. I gives you a lot of problems when you intall it, and It keeps demanding to renew the license, even thoug you do not want it. it absoutly get you more problems than what it solves

  1. So far, so good. The software installed easily, but I wish it would have wiped out traces of the Norton A-V software. Even with uninstall, there are traces that of Norton that ZoneAlarm flags as potentially dangerous. Slowly we are tracking them down or quarantining them.

There's a feature that allows the user to set security levels for each program used on the PC. Nice. But for us non-experts, it's daunting to try to determine what settings to use. I had a few glitches with ZOneAlarm's default settings (too conservative?)

  2. One can not separate the antivirus from the firewall. If you would like to continue to use the firewall, but not the antivirus you must delete the whole thing. The antivirus is not that good, it missed a virus that (free) Trend remote scanner caught.

  3. and Amazon's version was a great price, but out-of-date. Thankfully, the company upgraded me to the current version without additional cost. I am very happy with their antivirus product...easy updates, easy to scan. A small reminder: when installing the product, one must type in the license key to activate everything. In my case, a 'vertical bar' was cryptic...was it a number "1"? a small "L" or a capital "I"??? Took me several tries and some e-mail with the company to figure it out. That was my biggest/only complaint.

  4. I've had Zone Alarm for about 6 months and will not renew. Is it effective in preventing viruses? Maybe. I avoid as much as I can exposure to potential sources but can say I seem not to have had any inhabit my computer. In this regard it may be doing its job.

What I dislike is a feature that drove me away from Norton, the popup message that it was scanning my email, I felt Norton was simply using that opportunity to promote themselves and now Zone Alarm does the same - slowly. It should run in the background but instead takes center stage and prevents me from accessing any other programs until it is done. If I have a large number of messages in my in-box it will scan them each time I open Outlook, even if they have been scanned before.

The thing that troubles me most, however, is that I may not do a complete system reboot for 2 or 3 days. When I do, Zone Alarm claims it's anti-virus is out of date and needs to be updated. Why isn't this happening in the background real time? Am I 2-3 days out of date and at potential risk for infection because Zone Alram is not routinely checking for updates?

  5. I have used this program for a couple of years and it is really annoying. First, I hate its updates, its locking my machine when it decides to do an update, stops Acrobat from running, stops the whole the machine if I step away and here is the worst.. it checks itself and stops its own scanning program from launching. Norton finally looking good again!

  1. This Filemaker is the best version yet! Highly recommended!

  2. I have been using Filemaker 7 for Mac for 2 motnhs now. I am so happy with all the improvements they have made. Hands down this is the best database program (Mac or PC) ever made. A must buy!

  3. The improvements made over version 6 are monumental! A must have for database users and users of previous versions! A+++++

  4. I'm a database professional, one of the few MySQL Certified Professionals in the country. I've been familiar with dBase, InfoFile, Clarion, Microsoft Access, FoxPro, Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL, most since their earliest incarnations.

I've been tinkering with FileMaker since version 3 (1995). It never seemed much more than an oh-so-slightly souped-up version of the database in ClarisWorks/AppleWorks.

I've always evaluated FileMaker's time-limited downloads, but was never impressed.

But version 7 is a quantum leap, highly matured. If you want a replacement for the buggy and unstable Microsoft Access, here it is.

On a note, I bought a copy of FileMaker 7 on eBay. When I registered it, FileMaker told me that it was a pirated copy, which diminished my opinion of that online service.

I believe that if "a software is good enough to use, it's good enough to pay for". On a shoestring budget, I needed to find the best price, and it was here on Amazon.

  5. FileMaker Pro 7 (and it's new version 8) have one leg up on Microsoft Access: the are cross-platform. You can use FileMaker on Macs and PCs. Microsoft doesn't make an Access for Mac, either stand-alone or bundled with Office.

If you don't know how to use Access, if you don't know too much about relational database management systems, FileMaker is probably for you. It's much easier to use than Access. But if you have invested the time to learn Access enough to do the basics - create tables, complex queries, and forms, and to produce useful reports - stick with Access.

Switching to FileMaker means learning a whole new system, and once you do, you will not be any more productive than you already are.

  1. The main points about the creative suites are that the latest ones are usually not necessary - once you have one, it usually suffices for all that you need and upgrading is not a top priority. They are excellent, but IMO far too expensive - unfortunately if you need Illustrator, Photoshop, and Flash - the Creative Suite is the way to go since it is at least less expensive than buying them each individually.
I think they are great products, but I also feel they are very pricey. They are worth it in that there is little else in terms of option (yes, gimp is a free Photoshop replacement - but I still prefer Photoshop in ease of use, and Illustrator is my preference for vector graphics regardless of any other option so far, and I don't know of any other way to make interactive Flash movies/games without owning Flash itself).

Personally, the other stuff that comes in the Creative Suite is useless. Especially Acrobat on a Mac - perhaps I am just not a PDF power user since just using Mac's built in PDF creation ability works just fine for me.
