3 comments about Clue Finders 4th Grade Adventures Puzzle of the Pyramid.
- My third grader just received this. He loves it and has already spent several days solving the puzzles. What a great way to get him ready for 4th grade. This is the second year we have gottne Clue Finders to work on over the summer and both have been a real hit in our household.
- This was a great game. The tasks were repetitive like having to collect 12 cairoglyphys five times. The graphics and story lines were really good and I think this would be a great game for kids who already know how to read, so from grades 3-5.
- I have twins who just turned 9; I bought the first copy of this through their school about 8 months ago, and the boys were totally hooked. It's entertaining as well as educational. Some of the stuff is repetitive; but I think that helps them learn how to concentrate on completing tasks. I bought the second copy of this game when our CD drive cratered and destoyed the disk. BTW, these games are MUCH cheaper on Amazon and through office supply stores rather than through school!

5 comments about Quicken Lawyer 2003 Business Deluxe.
- I am an owner of Quicken Lawyer 2002 Personal Deluxe. I had to reinstall the software when my computer quit. I bought a new one and installed QLP2002. When I went to use the automatic web update of the software, I was informed that "This version is no longer supported, and Web Update is not available... we recommend that you upgrade... for only $29.99. It is an outrage that Nolo has revoked patches they had previously made available. The lack of any support is the reason I will NEVER purchase another Quicken Lawyer product.
- I bought this software a few months ago but didn't get around installing it until today. When I tried to register the software I got the message that the software is no longer supported! I was asked to call an 800 number to get a discount on an upgrade. This is the first time I ever ran across a name-brand software package that discontinues support before the software is even one year old! While I may still use the software I found it appalling that the publisher of this software dares to force customers to pay for an "upgrade" immediately upon installation of software that they just purchased.
- This is exactly what every small business person, good neighbor and informed consumer needs!! Excellent product, simply has everything we wanted and more...easy to use...very self-explanatory and has great on-screen guides.
- I just purchased Quicken Home and Small Business Legal Suite 2003. I am surprised that the software is no longer supported and that no updates are available. I am also surprised that there is not a residential lease document. There was a residential lease document in Quicken Business Lawyer 2000.
There are also far fewer legal forms available in the software than were available in earlier versions of the software.
- [02/21/1999] A federal judge in Texas has moved to out law Quicken Family Lawyer, a legal software program. The reason. It was too helpful. Judge Barefoot Sanders determined that by helping people fill our their legal documents, the program treads illegally on lawyers' turf. Specifically, it violates law that bar anyone but licensed lawyers from giving legal advise. The case was brought by a lawyers' group, whose interest is clear enough. Lawyers typically charge anywhere from $100 to $650 an hour. Quicken costs $29.95 for life.

- THIS IS GREAT...easy to use and wonderful interactive tour that shows you how to use the program. I reccommend this program for all classroom teachers who are trying to do multimedia and animation like they do at ...this is the best money you will spend for non-linear editing!
- LO VI TRABAJAR CON UN AMIGO Y CREO QUE ES EL MEJOR SOFTWARE PARA EL TRABAJO DE EDUCACIÓN Y PRESENTACIONES INDUSTRIALES
- The .avi file created with Studio PCTV can not be imported. It always give a error message "end of file reached", although the same file was played perfectly well in other media player (e.g. Microsoft Media Player).
- I learned how to use this software literally in one minute flat. If you have ever made a CD, you can do this. All you have to do is import a tape or many scenes from a tape in a VCR, internet, etc., and go to work. You can move scenes around by clicking and dragging. Add music from CD-ROM drive or WAVs from your computer. Text can be added easily. Why use 2 VCRs to cut and record your home video. With this software you can easily make fading and other types of cuts between scenes with the click of a button.
Avid software took this product off the market because it found out that professionals were using it for their work. I got my copy off eBay.com. Go there to get yours! I give you my personal guarentee that you will be making movies in no time at all. I recommend practicing with a few home videos. Say you like the arena scenes from Gladiator, but don't like the talk...put the tape in your VCR and record the fight scenes on the computer and paste them together. Now you have a version of Gladiator that nobody else has! I will be using this software for a video course I am taking. along with many other projects, the final one is a 15 minute movie that I have to make: taping, acting and editing. I believe that if you want to make movies, you should get this software!

2 comments about Documents to Go Professional 3.0 DVD Package..
- The 5PK DOCUMNETS TO GO PRO 3.0 by DataViz is an excellent value if you have several Palm OS handheld users in your office. Outside of Chapura which lets you HotSync with Microsoft Outlook, this is the Best Palm Application available. Since I use Word and Excel on my laptop, I used to use a third party application to convert Microsoft Word documents to the Palm Doc format and I needed a separate Palm Doc Reader. Not any more !! Documents To Go Pro 3.0 lets me transfer MS Word and Excel documents directly to my Palm. It even keeps the formatting (bold, italics, bullets, etc)!!!
In addition, Documents To Go Pro 3.0 also works as a Doc Reader, so I no longer need a separate program. One program reads MS Word, MS Excel, and Palm Doc format. Plus - since this is the Pro version, you can Edit Word and Excel documents on your Palm and HotSync the changes with your PC, so keep the laptop at home or in the office.
- Documents to Gp Professional 3.0 is deffinatley the most necessary Palm appliation ever! The fact that it lets you view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel Documents on you handheld is what first cought my attention. At that, I decided to buy it.
Though Docuemnts To Go 3.o Professional contains scaled down viewers for Microsoft Excel and Word documents, it provides just enough without taking up tremendous amounts of space on your Palm powered handheld. [It] makes it much more convient than converting all your documents to the Palm document form, and best of all...it retains all formating. Instead of going through the pesky process of converting all my documents whenever I want to put them on my handheld, I can now just copy them to it. And another good feature of this program is that when you Hot Snyc, it automatically updates the files on your handheld is newer versions are available. Now, the reason that I would reccomend buying this product from Amazon is that it is at least ten dollars cheaper than buying it from a local store, shipping included. I made the mistake of buying it from Office Depot and I payed a whopping $79.99. Now whoever you are, if you hae a handheld, this is a program that you MUST have.

1 comments about PumaTech Intellisync 5.1 - DVD Case.
- I have been using Intellisync off and on since the very early days when Puma (it's manufacturer) was the highest gaining stock on the NASDAQ, or even before. I just had a heck of a time setting it up, and I am reasonably technically adept (and stubborn). I use it to sync Lotus Organizer 6.1 with a Treo 650. As far as I know, Intellisync is the ONLY program that will allow these two programs to talk with each other. I believe it also works with more popular business database programs like ACT.
If you are like me and must use this program, it is because you refuse to kowtow to Bill Gates and the virtual monopoly of Outlook as a time manager and work organizer. Thus, all your life data ends up in this other program. Low and behold, I get a Treo 650 (and the 180 and 600 before that), and my data would be locked in the unit, or rather I would probably have just given myself over to the DARK SIDE of Outlook and Microsoft Mediocrity.
Intellisync installs easily, but then you have to get it to dance between your handheld and your organizer of choice. The program acts by setting up "conduits," which like their name would indicate, are channels through which the information in your handheld is directed to send its synching information, rather than sending it to the Palm Desktop.
It has been awhile since I last conquered this achievement (5/05?). What I can remember is that there was some trouble in getting the program to recognize and work with an already established profile in the Palm. It took a couple of months of trial and error. The technical support people had me at one point going into my desktop registry and editing out the old data. This may have been the ultimate answer, but it drove my tech guy who works on my office equipment crazy as it messed with something else (or I did, inadvertently). Once it is set up, you point the program to the exact database in whatever Organizer you are using (for example, in Lotus Organizer, I enter in the conduit section the address [mydatabase name].or6. And boom! Synching occurs. When it does finally happen, you will cry tears of joy!
Once it works, it works, though I believe that over time either Intellisync or my Palm have slowed significanly, and a 5 minute sync has turned into a half hour plus affair. I don't know whether to blame this on Intellisync. It could be the memory of my Palm, or another aspect of Palm synching, or the size of my database. Intellisync would definitely prefer that you not be working on the computer database while you are synching, though if it takes a while, you may not be able to avoid this.
The program will give you an optional screen where you can resolve conflicts in information between the handheld and the desktop program, which is nice. Usually this works out well. Because there is not really a compatible "Phone Call" function in the handheld, I do get stray "To Do" data synched into my handheld from phone calls I have already made and checked off in Lotus. I consider this a minor annoyance, though I do go through and check them off as "done" in the handheld.
I use version 5.5.1 of this program. If you buy the versions listed here, you may need to download updates, which may be an additional cost. You will just have to try your luck. But if all your data is locked in your handheld or your desktop, it's worth a lot of trial and error and/or some money rather than enter all that data in both. This is why the program first took hold, and I think it still holds true. Until Palm starts supporting other organizers, which it shows no indication of doing.

4 comments about Ubuntu 7.10 (64-bit PC Edition).
- Ubuntu is great as an operating system (I'm writing this on my AMD X2 desktop running Ubuntu 64bits edition). The only problem I see here is that Ubuntu's shipit service will send the disc for free! Heck, last week I just received 11 copies of it for free! 11 people! That's 10 Ubuntu x86 copies and 1 64bits one (I specified this amount). Don't buy it, order it via UBuntu's own system. It's free and it takes no time.
- The previous reviewer gave Ubuntu two stars simply because he could get it free elsewhere.
I think most folks browsing Amazon who come across Ubuntu are going to know what it is. Simply put, Ubuntu is a Linux based Operating System that will run on any PC. The product on the page you're viewing at present is for folks with AMD64 based processors.
Ubuntu is the OS of the future. And while there's a bit of a learning curve associated with leaving Windows behind, it is well worth it.
With Ubuntu, you can do everything Windows can do without the instability and without having to shell out money every time you need to acquire software. That's because Ubuntu is a free, open-source OS as is nearly all software you will need to meet your day-to-day computer needs. And never again will you see Microsoft's blue screen of death. Ubuntu is unbelievably stable.
This version, 7.10 (also known as Gutsy Gibbon) is a major step forward in terms of hardware compatibility (my modem and wireless card in my HP laptop just worked without me having to install any drivers).
On the downside, and this is true for Windows 64 bit as well, Java and Flash are still unsupported by Sun and Adobe on 64 bit systems. The good folks in the open source community have stepped up however to create to packages that will fill the bill for you though--Gnash (an open flash player) and Iced Tea (an open Java platform). Alternatively, you may install 32 bit Firefox with 32-bit Java and Flash plugins.
For more information, check out http://www.ubuntuforums.org as well as http://www.ubuntu.com.
- I have to agree with the former reviewer that there are cheaper means of getting this operating system, such as downloading an .iso image and burning it to CD. However if you were to give this as a gift to someone else it certainly looks much nicer than some silly disc you've scribbled "Ubuntu" on. Perhaps this way the Ubuntu people make some money on a seriously amazing software product. I am running the OS now, and it is elegant and stable.
- in regards to the 1st review...
while it's true that you can get the cd for free, also note that it takes 6-10 weeks to ship. personally, i'd rather pay $12.99 and get it in a few days rather than for free and in a few months.
not to mention, i also like documentation.

- Graphics are just as good if not better with an Nvidia based card. PLUS!...they sell the Team Area install disk for linux too!!!!
- Quake three arena is a great game with a new set of 3d-graphics quality, but the game gets boring after a while.Actually the game gets boring really quickly, but i still like it.I like the

- Quake 3 runs GREAT on my Linux system. That's not saying all that much, I suppose, until you realize that my Linux machine has a 3dfx Banshee as its video card, yet I can run at 1280x1024 without a single stutter or hickup.
On a technical merrit, this game gets a "5." On a gameplay merrit, this game gets a "3." That is, I really enjoy plots... feeling like I'm playing a key role in some momentous event. Half-Life... System Shock (1&2)... Deux Ex... all great examples of this. It's fun, but it's not "absorbing." So, I give the game a "4." The main thing to take away from this is that the Quake3 engine works GREAT in Linux. I recently installed the Linux binaries of Return to Castle Wolfenstein onto this machine. It also uses the Quake3 engine. Wolfenstein, so installed, is beautiful, and it DOES have a plot. ID Software, who developed the binaries for this port and who developed the Quake-series engines, have singlehandedly proven that Linux is a great gaming platform, yet again. The Quake3 engine is being used everywhere these days, and there's no fundamental reason that ANY of them can't be easily ported over to Linux. Well, that's not entirely true. It's true that there's no TECHNICAL reason that we can't have those games. And it's true that there's no MARKET reason that we can't have those games (minimal effort to create the port using all the same content, then a secondary distribution channel). However, there is ONE reason... the illegal marketing practices of Microsoft. Will this play out like all the other "Competition with Microsoft" activities of the past few years? Stay tuned...
- The game is beautiful and I'm sure it works fine on Linux, but with a simple download from the Quake3 website, you get a fully functional WINDOWS version! In what looks like an attempt to boost sales, they included instructions for doing this in the package, so this is an officially endorsed alteration to the program.
Don't waste big bucks on the Windows version. Buy this version and apply the patch! It worked flawlessly for me on WindowsXP.
