  1. If you're looking for a program that will help you find a new hair style for yourself, I wouldn't recommend this one. There aren't many styles to choose from and some of them are unrealistic. I have dark brown hair and none of the hair styles matched my hair color. Also, those hair styles that I liked were only in Blond and Red and there's no option to change the color to my own. The lipstick section is very difficult to use and never seems to look right. There aren't many sunglasses to choose from. But some of them look okay. The ones with different colors (pink, blue) never look right. The hat section was okay, but I doubt most poeple would wear them. Most of the jewlery looks very odd, but some of it was okay. I would only recommend this program to those who just want to have a little fun with making people look kinda funny. If you're looking for something more realistic and with lots of styles to choose from, this program isn't for you.

  2. This program is simply terrible. It is EXTREMELY hard to use. The hairstyles don't look like real colors, the masking process is really hard, and the only pros to this program are that you can see the names of the makeup, and you can use template models. If you want a true digital make-over this is NOT what you want.

1 comments about Corel WordPerfect Law Office 2000 Upgrade.
  1. For loyal WP users, Corel still produces the best word processing application out there, but Version 9 that ships with WP Office 2000 is a disappointment. A new bug in the Template area -- Corel's KB states that it didn't exist in the first two builds of Ver. 9 -- requires a kludgy workaround. The Address Book doesn't convert your Ver. 8 data. In fact, the new installation leaves the old one on your system intact -- maybe the developers knew that there were going to be some de-installations with this product.

I broke down & purchased the "upgrade," after an unrelated installation hosed my address book. Version 8 users who need to reinstall components have had to do another kludge on the mapi32.dll file to maintain compatibility with IE5.x for quite some time now, a sure sign that a version is getting a bit long in the tooth, & I decided that it was no longer worth it to maintain Ver. 8. I was wrong.

Ver. 8 is much more stable & much more functional. Don't switch as long as you still have a choice!

I purchased the Law Office suite, because I expect to receive my J.D. this school year, & my full-time job in risk management already emulates in-house legal work to some degree. I haven't had a chance to explore all the extra features, but they seem useful & interesting, with the exception of Dragon Naturally Speaking, which I already had to uninstall because it was causing crashes, even though I had not yet used it.

One redesigned feature that I would really like if it were more robust is the new CorelCentral My Calendar. I have been using it instead of my old Organizer application AND my paper planner, but I haven't managed to coordinate it with my PDA yet. There are only two things I dislike.

First, leaving the Calendar running on the Desktop leaves it vulnerable to crashes in other applications that cause freezes & reboots. I've already had to run pfreg.exe TWICE in two weeks to revive it.

Second, its default docking area on the right-hand side of the screen interferes with scrolling. If other people use the scroll bar the same way I do, they park the mouse pointer on the scroll bar while reading. When you do that, the Calendar keeps popping out at you & covering what you're reading, so you constantly have to move the mouse away from there & then move it back to scroll some more. If there were a "Preferences" item or drag-and-drop to place it in another part of the Desktop either permanently or while reading, it would be a huge improvement.

I remain a loyal WP customer, but Ver. 9 reminds me of the bad old buggy days of 5.2. Corel should do better.

  1. I manage a small law office, and have been using Corel WordPerfect as our standard word processing since v.4.2. The current version is not much of an improvement. Although some of the anscillary programs intergrate some useful features into WP, most of the "extras" are somewhat worthless. The calendaring program does not integrate with any other calendaring program, so it is impossible to share calendars with any other program or anyone else using a different program (or WP for that matter). But for the basic WordPerfect word-processing system, we have chosen to use other programs for spreadsheets (Excel), calendering (Outlook). We have Word installed on our system, and it appears to be a far more flexible and integratable system. All in all, WordPerfect 2000 Law Office is not worth the price.

  2. I also run a small law office. After some research, I agree that the new version of the office suite and Corel Word Perfect is not worth the bucks. First of all, a more dependable word processor would be appreciated. Though WP has some great features, it tends to crash. There is NOTHING WORSE when you are on a deadline with the court. Further, the software manufacturer should remember that this is a very cost conscious group to whom they're pitching the product.

  1. Bonjour. This software is amazing! I only started a week ago, but it definitely seems to have all the material necessary to learn to think, speak, and write in French.

The package comes with a headset (headphones and microphone) to practice your French out loud. It has word games, writing tests and speaking quizzes. You can also program the software to be an easy judge or such a difficult judge that a native French speaker would have a hard time.

The voice recognition software shows the sound frequency of each word spoken properly in French and then compares the sound waves of your speech to see how close you are speaking to a native French speaker.

This program is NOT easy. It's easy to use, but it is still a challenge to teach yourself French. It can be total immersion if you choose, or you can ask for English translations along the way. If you really want to learn French, with some effort this will work. Merci beaucoup. Au revoir.

  2. I remember the first time I used Tell Me More. I was amazed by the quality of the product. I could not believe what I was seeing. Tell me more is the best software to use to learn French. This software transports to you to a whole new world in France. It enables you learn the French language and the French culture. This software also enables you to improve your accent while improving on your vocabulary. As a result, the learner becomes fluent in the French language; while speaking the language with a French accent. In addition, the practice exercises are interesting and educational. As a French tutor in college, I will strongly recommend Tell Me More to you.

  1. I bought this program because it claimed it could help with my pronunciation. I was getting frustrated because the software was rejecting my pronunciation so many times. I asked an american friend to give it a try. The software rejects even the pronunciations of american speakers!

  2. This is the best English course I have ever used.. I have been teaching English for 5 years and this helps with pronunciation, making sentences, grammar and vocabulary. It is interesting, fun, complete and a joy to work with. It's a shame it is discontinued as I wished to purchase again for my personal use.
The person who gave a bad review did not graduate the speech recognition to his level. You have to read the instructions!
