  1. I needed a few new images, so picked this up. Wow, there is a sea of images from which to take ones pick.
    Very cool.

  2. This product is misleading. There aren't 3.5M images, fonts, photos, etc. not even close. It's a lure to get you to sign up for 1 year of their online service. The disc that comes in the box has a few hundred images on it at best.

The word "includes" means that it's in addition to, as in the disc had 3.5 million images, fonts, etc. Don't buy this product if you think you are getting 3.5 million files on a disc. You are really paying for 1 year of their online service. I expected better from IMSI. In the past their clip art collections were great. Now they settle for duplicitous practices to lure people into giving them repetative income.

  3. The user interface is very hard to use compared with other clip art collections I have used over the years. There are comparatively very few images on the disk - they want you to subscribe to their online service. I would DEFINITELY recommend skipping this product.

  1. Please, please, please, do yourself a big favor and save your pennies, stand on the street corner if you have to and take donations and buy Final Draft. Sometimes when you pay less you don't get a bargain, you get a lot of headaches which is exactly what this program is. THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS EXCELLENT. I feel sorry for them because it takes both: a good product and good tech support. This does not format stage plays professionally. If you're like me, you don't have the time for all of this aggravation. Spend your money on the professional quality programs, work like a professional and spend the extra time that you're not being aggravated perfecting your craft. I'm giving it 2 stars for the tech support.

  2. Although it doesn't come with much of a manual, it will get my screenplay "down on paper". No software will make me a better writer but, if you just need something to do the formatting as you write, this is it. You can learn how to use it in about 10 minutes, and it doesn't cost a bundle.

  3. Hollywood Screenwriter is not worth the time nor the money; it is designed for the amateur who wants to get "something" on paper, not a professional who not only wants to get something on paper, but wants that something to be the best he/she can create...and then be able to have it work with other elements of filmmaking including Scheduling, Full Production Breakdown Reports, Industry Standard Revision Draft Colors, Rundown Sheets, Budgeting, and Storyboard Linking.

Of what use to the film industry is a program that limits how producers, directors, other writers and production members can use a script, such as that produced with Hollywood Screenwriter? It makes no sense to have to re-type a script using other software that is Industry Standard. Why not just buy a professional program and use it, from the beginning.

I recommend Movie Magic Screenwriter, which formats for--among other types--films, stage plays, telvision producutions, multi-media productions and animations...and also meets Industry Standards for working with various elements of productions. It also imports and converts scripts written in Word, WordPerfect and other formats; so there is no need to retype a script.

A writer who wants to be thought of as a professional should use professional writing tools.

  4. This program is great. The process of writing a screenplay was sped up by the drop down devices employed by this software. It's really easy to use and upload. Yes, you have to leave the disc in your drive in order to use it, but who cares? If all you want is a script that will print onto plain white paper (spell check included), you've found what you need at a very low cost. I was tempted to pay over $100 for the other programs, but decided to stick with this one. All I wanted was a script, and that's what I got from this software. 5 stars!!!!

  5. It's a nice program but based on older technology. It won't download to the harddrive.

  1. Although this product can be used as a stand alone, it works far better as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop CS3. Fluid Mask 3 makes the task for developing "masks" on photos a lot simpler; it is reminiscent of the old "paint by number" idea that was very popular in the 1950s. This product is well worth the price in terms of time saved and frustration avoided.

5 comments about Photo Explosion Deluxe 2.0.
  1. I bought a Canon Powershot camera, a Canon Pixma MP500 printer, extra ink, great paper, and this program. The only bad thing about my experience was this software. It was slower than molasses (my computer has more than enough memory and a nice graphics card) and it made my computer crash several times. I finally managed to do "something" with the program, hated it, and packed it up and returned the product. The store gave us a hard time but finally gave us a full refund.

    Pro's: NONE
    Con's: slow
    caused computer crashes
results were not worth the time, money, nor pain

It looks like a few people love this product according to reviews but it is obvious that not everyone has had a positive experience with this product and/or the company. Many other products made by this company have good reviews you can read on Amazon. Maybe I just had a bad experience and the software was not designed to meet my personal needs but I must give this product a rating of 1.

  2. Got Photo Explosion Deluxe just before Christmas, and it makes the whole digital photography process a delight. Finally. I've tried lots of other programs. Some are clearly very powerful - Photoshop Elements, for example - but they're way too much for what I need, impossible to navigate, really designed for professionals. Photo Explosion's approach is entirely different. There's lots of hand holding, it's a step by step process, and you just can't go wrong. And there are lots of neat extras, like a morphing program and a montage program and a nice CD slide show maker. They've just really thought it through, and while I've got half a bookcase shelf full of other digital photo editors that have left me underwhelmed, the Nova folks do get it. With respect to rebates, I got mine - and fast. It had the company name on it, not the product name, so I scratched my head for a few minutes before I figured it out. I wonder if that was the problem some other people experienced. Anyway, no rebate problems with this one.

  3. I am still learning this new software---but it is so easy to learn! Unlike most programs, Photo Explosion is so easy to navigate. I have just finished working with approximately 75 photos from my camera. The download was simple and the editing is so entertaining. I would highly recommend this for any artistically inclined amateurs who don't want to spend a fortune on software.

  4. I just got this and so far happy..The only thing is I can't figure out how to do Black and white with color yet? Also the price here is very high when you can get it at WalMart for $20!!!

  5. It was very dificult to use at first, I still haven't gotten to use all of its features, however for a quick banner or stanionary, or a quick photo edit, this software is excellent, I use Adobe photoshop at school, and this program gives me the oppurtunity to open a photoshop file on my computer

2 comments about Cakewalk SONAR 6 Studio.
  1. I was looking for a sequencer application to use with my soft synths and Cakewalk's SONAR 6 won out over Sony's ACID 6, which is still slanted towards working with loops, because that's where it started life.

SONAR 6 comes in a few different flavors, and I settled on the middle choice (Studio), because I didn't want to be at the bottom of the upgrade path. The price is reasonable for the power they give you, but...

Don't expect to dive right into this one without having the manual nearby.
You probably won't be able to kludge your way through SONAR, because just about every feature you work with has options and sub-options, and there must be three different ways to do something easy that should just have one, clear method. Case in point is the metronome - ok, you've got menus and submenus dedicated to metronome control -swell, but it's just too easy to inadvertently turn it off, then spend several minutes tracking down where you went wrong...I'm just trying to keep time, for cripes sake!

It IS highly customizable as a result, and to be fair, the more I work with it the easier things get - but not everyone has the time for option overload.

Plus the look of SONAR is kind of clinical, and it's 2007. You wouldn't see this interface on a MAC.

Propellerhead's Reason 3.0 Propellerhead Reason 3.0 is beautiful and comparatively far more intuitive than SONAR 6, but it's a self contained application that doesn't do plug ins, per se.

So you need to make sure the tool you're considering does what you need it to before you buy, unless you like having a bunch of tools.

  2. I wish i could have got the producer version for this price because it has the PSP vintage warmer($159)But at 40 bucks this is a steal, and your able to update to version 8 for $100. I've been using Cakewalk products since 2000, and they keep getting better. 1 1/2 thumbs up (only cuzz there is no warmer)

2 comments about Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Design Standard Upgrade [OLD VERSION].
  1. I bought this Adobe suite to primarily learn computer graphics and page layout software. The learning curve is so steep I lost time, money, sleep and interest. Couldn't Adobe come up with a Creative Suite Light for those of us who don't or can't spend years learning how to use these software packages?

  2. After having the usual glitches with Vista and Creative Suite CS2 continue with no fix in sight I decided to upgrade to CS3 and it cleared up nearly all the small problems that were encountered with the CS2 version. Creative Suite CS3 is used here at the USFS Mt Adams Ranger Station to make guides and maps for our forest visitors as well as plans for new construction and is used between 3 and 8 hours a day, seven days a week. No further problems noted though a new H/P 4750 printer was required to print InDesign and Illustrator pages exactly as they were laid out and appeared on the screen. If a designer is struggling with Vista and the CS2 version of Creative Suite upgrading to the CS3 version will bring some relief though keep in mind that the latest printers might be needed to show CS3's full potential.

5 comments about Starry Night Complete Space & Astronomy Pack.
  1. Starry Night is technically a good product but is not very user friendly in use. Limited view area due to clutter in the page layout limits the useability of the product and the screen area setting of 1024 X 768 pixels required is not very compatible with most older Windows programs. I have to change my screen settings each time I use Starry Night to get the best page layout and then change back again when I leave the program. Several of the programs provided with telescopes are better at providing a much more realistic view of the night sky for star location. Advantages of Starry Night are very current data on satellites, comets and other fleeting phonemena most of which is only visible to observers in very rural areas away from urban light pollution.

  2. Starry Night is the best astronomy program i have ever seen! Starry Night is very easy to use and it has great graphics! Starry night has great pictures of the planets and has a cool spaceship mode allowing you to travel through the universe and visit other galaxies! Definantly a great program for the astronomy beginner!

  3. I have always enjoyed looking up at the night sky but I couldn't identify very many stars or planets. With Starry Night Complete Space & Astronomy Pack I have solved my problem. It will show me what the sky will look like before I go outside. It names the stars that I am trying to locate. In most cases it will even give me the proper pronunciation of each star. I have learned how to go forward or back in time to see what the sky will look like when I'm on my next vacation or what it looked like on the night that I was born. Love the program and recommend it for any amateur astronomer.

  4. Bought this as gift for someone who's been into astronomy for awhile. I didn't know much about it; had to rely on the reviews of previous purchasers. She told me it's terrific - no problems computerwise and it does everything it advertises.

  5. I like the manfrotto mono pod. It os light weight. My canon 70-200 zoom has a collar and i can lossen it a bit for vertical as well as horizontal shots. The only problem is the bottom pull out could be a made sturdier.
That is why i gave it 4 stars.
