5 comments about Audio Cleaning Lab 11.
  1. The program is easy to use, it comes with a small manual that gives a brief description of different features, and produces very nice recordings, and I have barely begun to "play" with the user-adjustable controls.
If you are planning to connect a turntable to your computer, you WILL need a pre-amp. Try the TCC TC-750, available here on Amazon. It received a good review in a major computer magazine. I'm using it and am quite pleased. It produces fine sound, is very small, and has a ground for your turntable.
In short, buy this program! It has all kinds of enhancement features for LPs, cassetes, and MP3s, auto volume management, overmodulation and lost frequency correction, etc. A winner!

  2. I was ready to purchase fairly expensive, high-end authoring software for converting vinyl into CDs until I read a review on this product. While it is not 'no manual needed intuitive', it has incredible features and does an excellent job at cleaning up albums for conversion to CD and is a lot easier to use than other products I have demoed. My main complaint is that when I upgraded to the next version, I did not get the upgrade discount and after sending 3 emails to customer service not a one of them have been answered. I even posted a complaint on their forum and that went unanswered. Don't expect any customer service, but the product is worth considering - definitely.

  3. I ordered Audio Cleaning Lab 11. It worked for a while but after downloading an upgrade it would lock up and require me to power down my system because neither shutdown nor Task Manager could exit it. I am now using Audacity which is free. It doesn't have some of the features of Audio Cleaning Lab, but it works. Also, MAGIX tech support will not reply to my emails!

  4. This product is just fantastic!

I bought this item simply for restoring my vinyl for more accsesible listening, it took me a day or so to work out the bugs as it does with most programs. Once i got threw the steps it is like falling off a log. Now you are not going to take an album that has been used as an ashtray and get opera hall sound. It does restore your albums to it's fullest potential! My only comment is if you are trying to stay true to your records you should'nt add all the EQ and Stereo effects, i think it just distorts the sound but experiment and you will probably come out where you wanna be i am not a perfectionist. However the cleaning aspects are great it can take many flaws out of the recording with the exception of deep pops but it can muffle them so they are not as pronounced. One of the best things about this prduct is that it registers the breaks by marking them between each track so you can play the full side and then pause the recording process flip the record to side two and begin that side by clicking pause again. WOW! You can even name each track indivdually in seconds for transfer to Mp3 album folders. If you are recording classical of acoustic music with silent moments within the track it is easy to delete certain markers so that you dont have false starts, i hope this info helps. It is a very afforable product that delivers on every promise just be patient it will come to you, Oh and make sure you buy a pre amp if you dont have one Circuit City sells a very nice General Electric one for about 30 bucks and it runs on a 9 volt battery. You will find most Phono pre amps on this site get negitive reviews and for good reason they are expensive and dont come with an accurate power supply.

I had previously bought Magix Mp3 Maker 11, well if you are looking for a platform to work at Skywalker sound someday by all means buy that product. It is overly complicated, Tedious and too much for just transfering your record media to Wave or MP3 if you buy it i suggest you stock up on Excedrin and/or Advil.

  5. Not a good product. There are better options.
One of the worst customer service companies that I have ever dealt with. Takes days for them to respond (if they bother), then their responses have been unhelpful.
Never again will I do business with them.

  1. It did the trick, i didn't need all the fancy stuff the other ones had.

  2. A caveat: I am inexperienced in computer graphics, attempting to acquire the quickest and least frustrating way of creating a camera-ready document.

Approaching this program as an inexperienced user, my aim is to create a simple business card, professional looking and cost-efficient for printing (assuming 1-color ink vs. 4-color). This is a no-frills, user-friendly program, with a very low frustration quotient (extremely important for the unskilled user). With some knowledge of design and layout, and assuming a modicum of good taste, this program is more than sufficient. The formatted designs offer a broad range of styles, and a limited choice of colors. If the card is to be commercially printed, it is necessary to confine the colors to one or two, because of the expense involved, and this program appears to take this fact into consideration. In addition, in the "help" section, it is possible to locate (and print out) directions to change typefaces, styles, formatting, etc. For the relatively inexpensive cost, this program is well worth purchasing as a precursor to acquiring more extensive skills in graphics programs.

  1. Editing features are pretty cool, improved from last versions.
But capture is so buggy when it comes to capturing video originally shot in analog mode (like all your VHS tapes) just won't work with this software. You have to capture with another program, like CapWiz or Win DV, then edit with Video Studio.

I've been using VS since version 5 and usually had no capture problems before version 11. both in XP and Vista.
So unless you want to be a beta tester for Ulead (now owned by Corel) and PAY them for the privilege, forget this version for a while. Try Roxio EasyMedia Creator or Nero.

  2. I purchased VS 11 after using version 9 because I had found some decent ratings for this upgrade on the internet and I was already familiar with VideoStudio and how it works. After receiving the application CD ROM I attempted to install the software, but after what appeared to be a successful install the setup installation froze during the final stages and then aborted with a Fatal Error message. Ater 3 unsuccesful attempts and one attempt using Ulead tech support suggestions I finally gave up.

Ulead tech support was unnable to come up with any fixes so that I could successfully install their product. Very frustrating.

  3. I've only been using this program for a week now but i'm loving it. It does however, some of the time, have an error pop up when your trying to start it... but everytime i go to restart the program, it runs fine... Didnt take me long to figure out how to work the program.

  4. the program locks my computer up nearly every time i try to do anything. i've installed and re-installed several times. i have more than enough computer memory and a video card with enough memory as well.

but in two months, i've managed to partially complete one video project of a playdate of my daughter's. and their website is awful, also.
    BUY SOMETHING ELSE.

  5. I had version 9 and it worked fine. I never did like the fact it took 8 hours to convert and burn the first DVD. It would not burn to a disk at all once I installed Vista so I upgraded to version 11 and it still comes up with an error when trying to covert and burn the first disk. It only works to make small mpg files for web sharing. Do Not Waste Your Money on this Product. I bought Cyberlink Power Director and it works much better and only takes an half an hour to convert and burn the first DVD.

5 comments about Apple Logic Pro 7 [OLDER VERSION].
  1. As a pro-tools and a Reason 3 user, I have some good amount of experience with computer based music recording and sequencing. I have had nothing but problems with Logic pro 7 since it was installed on my audio computer. Error windows, and a very clumsy and counterintuitive user interface. Like another reviewer said, if making music instead of operating a clumsy interface is what you would like to do, then stay clear of Logic 7 pro. And guess what, if you don't like the program, or if it doesn't work for you, a person can't return it, and they are out almost $1000.00 Reason, and pro-tools are at the top because they are the most musician friendly software out there, Logic pro 7 is not.

  2. I bought Logic 7 around a year ago at Guitar Center after reading about it, seeing it demo'd by experienced users and was excited that Apple bought Logic 7 from eMagic. I thought that Logic 7 would be the next big thing as Apple would turn this powerhouse app into an easy, intuitive, yet powerful tool like so many other Apple products I am a HUGE fan of....boy was I ever wrong! One year later and having spent $1,000 on Logic (Ouch!) I've come to realize that Logic is anything BUT logical! *DO NOT BUY APPLE LOGIC UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED PRO/ENGINEER* *DO NOT BUY APPLE LOGIC IF YOU ARE STARTING OUT!* Over the course of the last year I've attended numerous seminars and clinics on Logic and found most users who got "tricked" into buying this application just as confused or more confused about the product that I was/am. In one instance I was sitting next to a professional film scorer who has a Master's from the school of film @ USC + A Phd in Computer Science from MIT and he was struggling with Logic too! NO B.S.! Plus there are VERY few reference/resources materials to learn Logic with. It appears that Apple has put Logic on the backburner to instead focus their efforts on selling iPods and all associated iPod periferals to converge the multimedia experience in the living room. I recently tried DigiDesign's Protools and ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT! Within 10 minutes of working with DigiDesign's Protools I was making music intuitively, powerfully and having a blast! However with Apple's Logic I stuggled for over 1 year and was getting ready to give up making music this way. Even my sales person said he had mixed feelings about selling Apple's Logic to unsuspecting customers. I went to several Apple stores asking Logic questions and 99.9% of the time the Certified Apple Technicians said they couldn't/didn't understand Logic. Case in point - Unless you have much experience working with this technology and/or have lots of time getting "religion" about Logic, save yourself time, $$$ MUCH MONEY, and tons of frustration and consider another product such as the industry standard Protools. Protools is straightforward, or as complex as you want to make it, their tech support RULES, and their product migration path makes sense. Don't waste your time using Logic or you'll likely end up wasting $1,000 + like I did. I don't usually write reviews but wanted to help others from having the negative experience I did - good luck!

  3. I was an early adopter of Logic, from version 3 on the Windows platform. I now own version 7.2.3 and it still rocks my world. I use it for professional recording and use an FW-1082 firewire interface by Tascam that operates with Logic very well. I know the interface and operation of the environments in Logic can be challenging at first glance and the books delivered by Apple aren't very helpful. When you are able to buy this application, do it, but also have some cash to buy books that take you through all the hidden features of Logic 7. On Amazon you will find a plethora of books on the subject that will help you out. I also found courses on DVD. After this you will be able to integrate Logic in your (home) studio set up.
If you would compare Logic to Pro Tools, I find Logic more attractive. It supports most hardware on firewire and USB and it does not bind you to Pro Tools hardware (this is far more expensive). People that say that Logic is a memory hogging software, should take a look at how they lay out their plug ins in their projects. This problem is the same in any software. Pro Tools needs more "rendering" than Logic in my experience, using the same amount of physical memory.
I gave it four out of five stars, because I believe Apple dropped the ball with the manuals they delivered with the package. Emagic in the early days, gave a binder with better step-by-step training for the product. This binder was updated as well, when you bought an upgrade. With the recent upgrade by Apple to Universal Binary: No manual update, but there were a lot of upgrades made behind the scenes. Now you have to get your own information through the Logic Forums, which are a great source of information by the way.

  4. I have never used Logic Pro but I still want to say one thing. I went over the Apple forum to ask about Logic Pro stability because I was thinking of buying it. I posted a link to the apple store that had well over 50% bad reviews, mostly because of poor program stability. Not only did Apple delete my thread they went and doctored up the reviews on there store web page. They left a couple of pseudo-bad reviews where the text wasn't to damaging to make everything look up and up but for the most part they just deleted them. Something to think about before plunking down hundreds of bucks for it.

  5. I'm a new Mac user and a new Logic user having come from the Windows world and I'll admit to having now spent over 40 hours just going through tutorials and working with the program but my experience has been absolutely positive.

Having invested the time in the program I am now convinced that there is absolutely nothing that can't be done with this program and every day am finding more and more things that I like about it. I combined this with a Mackie Universal Pro control surface and am just in heaven for live recording and studio work. I've created midi tracks using my Alesis keyboard, duplicated those tracks to Logic Instruments, reassigned the midi to play to an audio track using the keyboard's sounds and layered the entire thing with effects on several busses all in about 10 minutes without breaking a sweat.

I've used lots of other software and find this to be an extremely capable and "Logical" piece of software.

In reading the reviews of those with error messages I'm wondering if their systems are configured to handle this software. I'm using it on a Macbook Pro with lots of RAM and fast external storage and have had literally zero errors since installing it (other than when I unplugged my Firepod! ).

Having said that - if you are a beginner in the midi/audio recording arena then this is NOT the software for you. There are some pieces of the interface that are way less than intuitive (just TRY to find how to assign an instrument sound to a track instrument without knowing where to click) and there are so many options that it initially appears daunting even if one knows the terminology. I'm still exploring the depths of the "space designer" and after weeks of working with it am beginning to understand the depth of this one plug-in alone.

I chuckled at the review by the person who had never used the software. That's like saying negative things about a book or picture that one hasn't seen - uninformed advice is just that - uninformed.

Truly, this is a fabulous and very capable piece of software and I highly recommend it.
