1. I am a huge fan of the awesome Lord of the Rings movie and these are the coolest things ever out there! Totally collectable, there's one for each of the 4 main characters, Frodo, Gandalf, the hunky Aragorn + the evil Ringwraiths and contain loads of movie info, including actual movie stills, story + bio information, the movie music as well as the 4 trailers! The graphics are gorgeous but you also interact with them, using the ring to navigate your way through the cardz. However the more you use it the more it attracts the evil ringwraiths to your screen so beware!!! There are 4 tiny hidden images across all cardz too that once found unlock the gorgeous screen saver.

   Gotta have them, they are fun now, but surely will also be important souvenirs one day..?




2. This is the only PC/Mac Two Towers product out there. Just got it today, get believe all of this content before the movie hit. Such a better value than the fellowhsip game. Rock on!



3. I bought the first set which is the Fellowship of the Ring 4 CD carz set. That was a lot of fun. You got to play the ring game in the first one which unlocks a special screen saver. This is just as much fun! Both of these are a must for any lord of the rings fan. Have a lot of stuff for you to explore through.

1. I've used several desktop based video editing programs over the years and this is simply the best. The free download type programs may get you started but you will not be able to deliver "production values" that today's market demands. Yes, you will need to learn it's ins and outs, but there are many free tutorials if you just google Adobe Premiere.

1. This product is the standard for graphics professionals and is an essential in our studio. However, Adobe prices have been getting WAY out of hand lately, and with posted revenues of approx. $1.3Bn U.S. last year, the price of this software is outrageous. If not for that, CS2 v2.3 would have garnered 5 stars from this reviewer.

1. FaceShop has been around for 3D programs like Poser and 3D Studio. It is now also available for Photoshop. It is fun to operate and rotate heads in real 3D. I especially recommend it for CS3 users who can create a 3D head for the 3D layer and manipulate any face, be it a friend or a celebrity.



2. Beware of reviews by Laslo - as he is one of the producers of Faceshop.
   
   I have found the Poser version of FaceShop to be unstable and terminally unable to operate as described - mirroring in particular produces grotesque mutant heads that are nothing like symmetrical in either geometry or texture.
   
   Support is non-existant :(



3. At first I had this crash every time it got to the point of applying textures. I then upgraded my Video Card (I went to a 256 ATI RADEON HD 2400 XT). After that I had no more problems with it. I am very happy with this as it will do what it promises. For a program of this price it really does a great deal of work and the better your video card and memory is, the happier you will be with it.

1. There are some compelling reasons to upgrade to Visio 2000 if you're using an earlier version of Professional. Here are some of my favorite features that I did not have in version 5.5 include the ability to quickly lay out deployment diagrams and create more precise drawings with the dynamic grid feature. It lets you distribute and align shapes on pre-defined grid templates (or ones of your own making). It also has automatic shape numbering, which I find very useful when I am creating a complex flow or process chart. I include a legend in the drawing that corresponds with the numbered shapes to further clarify that is happening.

   Another feature that is plain wonderful is the page tabs, like in Excel and other applications. This is a vast improvement over the hard-to-find pages in earlier versions. The best feature, though, is the ability to use your arrow keys to "nudge" shapes in small increments. If you are doing web-enabled diagrams you can now embed URLs (links) in your shapes that can point to web pages, other documents, drawings or even another shape on your drawing. This is an incredibly handy feature even if you are not publishing your diagram to a web page because it allows you to create drawings that can be "drilled down" into, or point to entire documents for additional information. The possibilities here are endless.

   Although I don't use it, a friend raves about the feature that allows you to model directory schemas, such as Active Directory, Novell's Directory Services (NDS; now called "eDirectory"), and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol). Since directory-enabled enterprises are based on one of these products or standards this feature alone might be reason enough to upgrade. Note that NDS modeling has long been a feature with a wizard that Visio provided for free before Microsoft acquired the product. This has now been integrated into the core product and the other directory types added.

   This version can also be extensively customized without resorting to Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). ALthough the documentation that ships with Visio 2000 is lame Ralph Grabowski's excellent book, Learn Visio 2000 for the Advanced User, will show you how to fully customize Visio to meet your unique needs. This book is especially valuable if you use Visio all of the time because it will show you how to use a lot of features that you might not otherwise discover (or discover by trial and error), and how to configure Visio into a fine tool fitted to your needs instead of the generic implement it is out of the box.

   Yes, Visio 2000 Professional is bloated, and yes, it still does strange things when you're editing a diagram within Microsoft Word. However, it is also incredibly powerful and easy to use. The learning curve for creating diagrams is shallow. I estimate that most people become 80% more productive even if they only use 20% of its capabilities. And the diagrams certainly add clarity to documentation. Despite the warts this version has some innovative features that make it an improvement over earlier versions. If you need the new features I cited above then the upgrade is worth it.
