  1. When I placed my order, a description was not available. I found the selection of symbols poor (5,000), and limited. While the item was described as "religious symbols", it actually only contains Christian symbols. I feel this is a misleading label. The CD also contains stories from the Bible and a few fonts. That's not what I need, and I resent the attempt to pad the contents. I will not purchase products from this software publisher again, this is not a good value.

  1. I started buying this series for my 6 year old one year ago. She received "Mr Bach comes to Call" for her seventh birthday. She has spent hours listening to it and then to other Bach CDs. The music is well selected and the historical content is described quite well. Her imagination has really been excited. As we live in Germany for the moment she has expressed a wish to visit Liepzig to see Bach's grave. We have four in this series now and think they are brilliant. All of us enjoy listening especially on long car journeys. Great entertainment with educational value.

  2. Excellent story for the entire family to enjoy. Music and information is blended together to make the audio version of this story enjoyable for a wide range of ages. Great way to introduce kids to famous composers in a format that is interesting and fun. And, the listeners don't Have to sit still while the story is being read.

  3. Beethoven Lives Upstairs CD is an intriguing imaginary story told by a child who lives in the apartment below the elderly, deaf Beethoven, whom the child believes to be a mad man. The story of Beethoven's life and his greatness as a musician, even after becoming deaf, is woven through a series of letters the child writes to a relative who teaches the appreciation of Beethoven and his music. It is a beautifully written story of the great and tragic composer's life, interwoven with marvelous renditions of his most beloved music. This is one of the Symphony of Stories for all ages collection of Classical Kids CD's from Children's Group. You and your children will want to own all of them and listen to them again and again!

  4. my children are 6 and 7. they love this touching story of beethoven. we have taken many a long car ride and this cd is always our companion. it would be a good idea to also get a background book of beethoven for your children as they may become so intested, as mine did, that they simply had to know more about him. i bought the teachers notes that go with this. i would have done better to get a more thorough book, but it has served us well. this cd is highly recommended

  1. As a piano teacher I am always looking for technology to keep students motivated and this product is perfect for all ages (my 3 1/2 year old loves the Groovy shapes) The explore learning program does not require any music knowledge so students can be successful the first time they use it. I love the instrumental examples and it is a great way to introduce musical concepts along with the sounds of the entire orchestra. The explore section also gives examples and ideas to use in the create mode. All of my students enjoys composing in the create section, recording from the midi keyboard is an excellent feature on the Groovy Jungle and City. I highly recommend these programs to anyone interested in getting or keeping kids involved with music.

  1. I learned a hell of alot about producing through this amazing software. No, it does not accept vst's as effects or instruments, but you can rewire it into Cubase, Logic or whatever. It is a DAW, but not one that can record audio, however, if you have Recycle and like to make your own loops, you can upload your own rex2 files. It does have samplers which will accept any .wav files you throw at it. The synths are mean, the samplers are great, the effects are awesome and its an easy way to teach yourself how to produce. I highly recommend it. I use it alone and/or with Cubase SX 3, depending on what kind of a song I want to make. Have someone demo it for you and you'll see, its awesome!!! Get it!!!

  2. If you are looking for a very inspiring software, easy to use, something you can use for any type of music, look no further. Reason 3.0 is all that and much more. It is a musical "monster". It has great sounds through a great variety of devices (Malmstrom, NN-XT, ReDrum, Rex Loops, etc...) The sky is the limit.

    I suggest you get the instructional DVD from Line 6 as well. For those who are looking for some great acoustic drum kits get the Smartloops Dry Drum kit CD of Pro Drum Works CD. You will never need a real studio drummer.

    The ReWire funtion is great. You can hook up Reason 3.0 to Cubase, Live, Pro Tools etc...

    I use Reason to create my backing tracks (drums, bass, keys & musical f/x) and then import the song into Cubase and then record guitar tracks in Cubase.

    BTW, you should get yourself a MIDI controller, I got the M-Audio Oxygen 8v2 and works very nicely with Reason.

    It is well worth the money.

  3. Addendum - My original review of this software started with:

    "Do not be swayed by those elitist reviewers who pan this program."

    Now I realize what some of them were getting at - I still think this is a fantastic piece of software, especially for people who just want to have fun making computer music and are content staying in the Propellerhead playground (and it's a huge playground).

    The issue is, aside from using the Rewire application to get Reason 3 synths out of the playground, you can't bring outside synths (VST plug ins) into the Reason 3 playground.

    I very much like the Reason 3 sequencer, but I can't run a 3rd party VST synth with it, and that's what some other people are griping about here. Mea culpa.

    Here's the rest of my original review;

    If you're into electronic music and have ever invested any amount of money
    in midi gear, only to find yourself wanting more after spending, say, $3,000,
    then you should check out the easy to install free demo of Reason 3 available
    on the Propellerhead.se (NOT .com) website. You'll go ape#$%*!

    I can't fathom how these people managed to get this thing to do so much
    for such a modest hardware requirement.

    I have a P4 with only 256Mb of ram, and I have not experienced a single
    crash yet, no matter how many devices I add to the virtual rack.

    Any wimpy sounds in Reason can be beefed up using the
    effects modules- show me a synth that doesn't have some "cheesy" sounds.

    My only gripe is, I wish the rack components could be enlarged onscreen
    like the sequencer window. Unless I'm overlooking a button or command
    somewhere (entirely possible), I hope Propellerheads adds rack resizing
    in a future version.

    Again, get their demo! You can play with it for 20 minutes at a time,
    and you'll know if it's right for you.

  4. I never tire of playing with this software, although I am not a professional musician or sound engineer. It allows you to create songs with a nearly limitless range of sounds, beats, and arrangements. I also enjoy visiting the Propellerhead Software Web site to check out songs from other artists, and analyze how those artists created different styles of music. Reason is really an inspiring tool for experimentation in musical composition.

  5. Pros:
    Reason is a awsome way get a professional sound from your synth music quick. It includes some of the best sounds, synth, samples, and effects there are. The midi recording and automation options are exellent. You can self-contain your files, export to 24-bit or 16-bit audio, export as a midi, or publish the file for sharing. It is also compatible with tons of different midi keyboards.

    Cons:
    Not much is compatible with the program plugin wise. The instruments you get with the program is all you get. The Real Time effects while great quailty are not vast. And as far as i know any sort of plugin cost way too much. Most the refills are either extremely wack or a little too expensive. Importing audio can only be done in a sampler so if your audio file is long you have to restart from the beginning to hear it (not real time).

    All in all I still use this program to this day and consider it one of the best there is. But you make the call. I would try this and Ableton Live and decide which you perfer.

  1. I have a large an assortment of music and mostly incomplete albums, and creating a complete cover library was a hard task. I initially would find my album art from various websites an physically drag the image into my iTunes. At the suggestion of my brother, I purchase the program CoverScout. It made finding album art convenient. In a matter of about 15 minutes, I had covers for the majority of my iTunes library. It can even take all those covers that itunes finds and copy them to the ID3 tags. Overall the program worked excellent and was easy to use.

  1. If you have little or no notion of Special Effects and animations or are a well experienced Designer or Animator, After Effects is THE animation and composing software for you. Get all you want and more with this product that goes well beyond the horizon. After Effects has all the features to make bick bucks and it's price will pay for itself in the first project Garanteeed!!! Get online and BUY IT (unless you're online allready)

  2. At the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention at the end of April (2001) in Las Vegas, NV, the most impressive software product being demonstrated was AfterEffects 5. Now, I'm an AE-user, and before NAB, I was thinking, "I really haven't driven AE past the surface in version 4.1 Production Bundle, I can't see getting the upgrade." After seeing the demo at Adobe's booth, I gotta say: "Do you take Visa or MasterCard?"

    You have to move up several price ranges to buy into a compositing solution that does more than the newest release. The 3-D elements they were showing made my jaw hit the floor. The web sites and magazine reviews just don't give this product the justice it deserves. You need to see someone use it in a real-live application to see the true potential. AE5 will eliminate the barriers to entry for novice 3-D animators like how Adobe's LiveMotion did for people wanting to get into Flash.

    This release is incredible. A must-have for the digital artist.

  1. Need to back up your DVDs? This is the program for you. Upgrade to "Platinum" (only available online as of this writing) for even better features. However, you MUST have a DVD decrypting program (free online) if you want to copy commercial DVDs, but, happily, the manual that comes with this program all but walks you through how to do this if you do not know how to go about finding one.

    With this program, you can:

    Copy DVDs in their entirety;
    Copy only the main movie;
    Edit out chapters from movies that contain objectionable content while still keeping an otherwise functional menu (something a similar freeware program CANNOT do);
    Edit out trailers, commercials, studio logos, etc., again, while keeping menu functionality (menu links for removed items will still appear, but will be non-functional- the rest will fuction as usual);
    Make "Best Of" DVDs by taking content from different DVDs and burning them to the same disc! (Platinum version only);

    and much more! See the product description above.

    Download the 3-day, fully-functional trial version from the InterVideo website and try it yourself. You will love it and HAVE to have it! If you're a DVD aficionado, you will think this program is terrific.

  2. This software has a lot of capabilities for recording DVDs, but the one main thing I wanted it for and perhaps many others may use it for was to copy DVDs from origin disc to DVD-R. I was not able to do this because the software doesn't allow copying of material with Microvision or other copy right software on the original disc. I thought this software would do just that. Will have to find another software that will accomplish this task.

  3. Yep I have mixed feelings about this animal. First of all the function of copying DVD's and so for there are already in windows XP Movie Maker 2 which is free. Of course you can never have enough rivals as different people respond to different software better.

    Next this product is decaffeinated and has no ripper(decrypting software). This is the reason you bought the software. They say "Go fish". If you find a ripper you will again find the copy function as a free part of the ripping product.

    Then you can already get to their site to ask for help. Yep you guessed it the help page says you are seriously behind and want more money for an update even though you bought this off the shelf today.

    Finally after you do get this animal installed and use it you may find it is not that intuitive and has little explanation on its working innards.

    I after tossing out some booboos did get it to perform the last step of converting PAL to NTS and region 2 to region 1. It works in computers and one of three players. One player says "Disk error - Please eject the disk - Playback feature may not be available on this Disk"

  4. This DVD copy 2 compress data stream from input DVD when clicking a box of "Fit to 4.7GB DVD". The logic of compress is
    looks too simple. If the total data is more than 4.7GB, it doesn't remove the same bit pattern on the total data but it remove bunch of the same bit pattern from the beginning of the data. Quality should be ahead of performance. Anyway,it ruins the quality of movies too much.

    The logic of deving DVD into multiple DVDs is OK though.
