  1. not my kinda thing it may be good for beginners though!!!!!!

  2. I currently have another version of KeyCAD in which I ct\reated my own library. I use it quite often to assist in my dailt duties at work. The only thing I had hoped that it could do was some mapping (geographical). I was wondering if the KeyCAD Pro had this function in it. Thank You.

  3. Dont be fooled by the price with this program I
designed numerous plans that have already passed plan check

And it is so simple. If you cannot sacrifice time to waste
trying to figure out cad programs, give this one a chance.
I am really amazed that this is all the money these people want for this program

5 comments about Adventures of the Teen Furies.
  1. This book brought back both good and bad memories from my teenage years, but isn't that what a good book is supposed to do? I really enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to anyone who has teenage children.

  2. I enjoyed the vivid descriptions of life as a teenager (although it did bring back some painful memories!). Well written and thoughtful, Adventures of the Teen Furies explores the often painful, confusing world of adolescence with humor and honesty. Ms. Davidson obviously remembers what it was like to live through, and she uses that knowledge to great effect as she follows her characters through some of the pressures and decisions that plague teenagers. I highly recommend this to all readers.

  3. It is unusual to find a story that can make even the difficulties of the high school years seem both fun and funny. Davidson succeeds in showing realistic characters and situations in a positive way - without being preachy. I almost miss my high school days... almost.

  4. I am a 55 year old mother of two and I loved this book. It is teenagers all the way. It is exciting, well written, fast moving and a joy to read.

  5. I have read and loved all of MaryJanice Davidson's novels and novellas and decided to give her Young Adult offering a whirl. This is a wonderful novel with a great deal of humor and some poignancy to boot. Andrea Grouper is a typical teenage girl going through growing pains while convincing her paranoid driving coach that she has been driving since she was eight years old and keeping her eye on her troubled friend Meredith. When she convinces Meredith to join her in visiting her old friend Brenda, she does not know how she would interact with her. But it turns out that not only is Meredith adored by Brenda and a new crop of male friends, she also becomes part of a game in which they pretend to be superheroes and villains. They also have some adventures with the male friends. Andrea accepts to become George's girlfriend while she drools for Kyle, the one Brenda has set her eyes on. Meredith hooks up with Terry, who is as eccentric as she is at times. However, how will the group cope with Meredith's suicidal episodes and the extreme side effects from her medications? How will they cope with the knowledge that she'd had a nervous breakdown a few months before? Will Andrea be able to break free from George and tell Kyle how she feels about him? And are their imaginary characters a way to escape from their sometimes troubled realities?

This is one of the best Davidson stories I have read. She has a wonderful sense of humor, as all of her faithful readers are well aware, but she also adds some dark situations and poignant scenes in this offering. Meredith saddened me at times. She goes through some rather painful things brought on by her depression. She has a wonderful friend in Andrea. Speaking of whom, Andrea is the signature Davidson heroine in that she is a smart mouth and is fiercely independent. She likes the idea of having a randy boyfriend who worships her even though she is not that into him. Those scenes made me laugh. Terry is also hilarious. He is a hopeless flirt who is not afraid to voice his opinion on everything. Kyle is the quieter one of the bunch, but he also turns out to be as three-dimensional as the other characters. As said earlier, this is one of Davidson's best stories. This also happens to be one of her first writing efforts. She started out writing Young Adult books and then branched out into writing romance and fantasy (or a combination of both genres). But she will release another YA book later this year. Adventures of the Teen Furies is a true testament of just how talented and versatile Ms. Davidson is. She is now one of the most popular romance/paranormal authors out there and for good reason. I recommend this YA novel most highly.

4 comments about Turbocad Mac Pro V3 2D & 3D Cad for Mac.
  1. I think this program may be a fun and powerful CAD program; however, the User Guide has very few examples and there are no tutorials. It is impossible to follow the explanations because they a vague and not detailed enough. If you are a CAD user already, it may be possible to follow, but I would not recommend this program for the person who buys it for fun and does not have an "expert" close by. Also, the TurboCAD web site is void of help.

  2. I recently bought two packages of this application, one for a family member (a savvy Mac user but CADD novice) and one for myself, an experienced Microstation (Windows only) user. As always, there is a significant learning curve to any CADD application and I expected no different here. With few, if any, third-party references for the Mac version of TurboCad, all we have to rely on is the included help files, the PDF User Guide, and a few downloadable tutorials which are, in fact, hard to find.

I attempted to put together a simple sequence of topics (where to begin, what next, etc.) using the help files and user guide. First off, the help files are not accessible from the Help menu in TurboCad, but they do reside in the TurboCad application folder and are in HTML format so, no problem, we just open them in Firefox. It turns out many of the help files are "broken" which is perhaps why they don't appear in the Help menu. I am persistent, so I examined the HTML code (simple enough text files) and found that many of the included image files simply have the wrong filename. Rename the files or correct the HTML references, either way they're fixed.

Next I created a support ticket at IMSI asking about a fix for the help files. After quite some time with no response, I checked on the ticket and found it had been "resolved." I created another ticket to inquire as to the nature of the resolution: had the problem really been solved? The response I got went something like this (paraphrased):

'Your request did not appear to pertain to any resolvable issue; rather
it sounded like a bunch of complaining.'

So I replied that not only was the problem 'fixable' as I had repaired a couple of the help pages myself, it was a simple matter of editing HTML/text! This went on for several messages back and forth. Each specific question I asked was literally ignored until the very last response finally answered the main question: the issues (complaints) I raised would be fixed in the next release of the software, no ETA known.

The Mac version of TurboCad is built by another company and IMSI has no control. I've read some complaints about TurboCad support elsewhere just like I've read complaints about almost any product out there. However, their support for the Mac product is simply awful, even when compared to their support for their own venerable 'TurboCad for Windows' product line.

I am, to say the least, sorely disappointed. I even mentioned at one point in this futile exchange that I had yet to pen an Amazon review, thinking they (IMSI) might take the hint and at least pretend they were interested in the problems I was having. I take this platform seriously and would not lightly give a bad review, but this is without a doubt, some of the most condescending and worst "customer service" I've ever suffered.

I owe an apology to my in-laws for whom this was a Christmas present.

  3. I am disappointed that IMSI hasn't fixed any of the weak points of the previous version (V2) in this version (Pro V3). Maybe I expect too much for under $100. Documentation is still useless. Tools work, and the tool set seems to be complete, but nothing is intuitive. For instance, you have to de-select all drawing elements before you can switch between some tools (but not all tools). Drawings created with V2, then imported to V3 come in at an unusual scale. At first I thought maybe it was a simple metric-to-American conversion, but the multiplier turned out to be 7.737. TurboCAD Pro V3 came with a rebate coupon which I sent to IMSI, and they acknowledged by email, but I'm still waiting for the rebate. TurboCAD for Mac bears almost no resemblance to TurboCAD for Windows (except for the weak documentation).

  4. If you are looking for a Mac version of TurboCAD, don't buy this program - it isn't TurboCAD. It appears to have been produced by Punch software and the support from IMSI is of little help.

The first problem I encountered is that when zoomed in on a drawing, the screen display often becomes hopelessly inaccurate. Lines don't meet where they should, and snaps are way off the displayed line. Also the rendering of curves is very crude.

The showstopper for me (I've returned to Autosketch on PC) is that line thicknesses can't be controlled properly. Line thicknesses (Pen Weights) always scale when printed - there is no way to print them to a specified width. For example 1.00mm line thickness, shows OK on screen, when printed at a scale of 1:50 it becomes a hairline. To get an actual 1.0mm printed line, I have to set the pen weight at 50mm, which is useless on screen. There appears to be some confusion in the minds of the designers of this program. Genuine TurboCAD had a Width Scaling setting ('Device' or 'World'). TurboCAD Mac Pro appears to be fixed to 'Device' on screen, but 'World' on printing. This can't be changed - according to IMSI support this is an issue they are "working on".

There is a lot about this program that could be really good, but save your cash until they've got the bugs out. It is worrying that IMSI don't appear to want to get them out.

1 comments about Paint Shop Photo Album 5 Standard Edition.
  1. Jasc's Photo Paint Shop Album (PPSA) Version 5.0.1 is a nice upgrade to version 4 that puts the program on equal or slightly better footing with ACDSystem's ACDSee version 6 and Adobe's PhotoShop Album (PSA) version 2. Version 5 introduces a prettier interface; adds a calendar-based organizational view, a bunch of creative project and print templates - for coffee books, CD/DVD labels, calendars, etc.; and some basic archival features. PPSA's strength is that it bundles together the most variety of features of any consumer-grade digital media library manager, and that makes Paint Shop Photo Album the most well-rounded choice for mainstream beginner and intermediate users new to digital image management.

With the addition of creative project templates, Photo Paint Shop Album 5 becomes a better choice than Adobe PhotoShop Album 2. The latter's crippling weakness is that it is unable to automatically detect and synchronize new or deleted photographs to and from its internal catalog database. Unlike ACDSee 6 and PhotoShow Deluxe 3, PPSA's creative projects are things users may print themselves. ACDSee and PhotoShow Deluxe simply supply links to websites (Snapfish, etc.) where users order and pay for their own creations.

Consumers should understand that given Photo Paint Shop Album's low price, competitor programs may exceed the depth of any particular module(s) in PPSA. For example, ACDSee has the better file-level manager. Simple Star's PhotoShow Deluxe 3 has the better slideshow module. With these other choices however, users may find themselves purchasing additional programs to match the breadth of Photo Paint Shop Album's functionality.

If there is a weakness to Photo Paint Shop Album, it is metadata. Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but not always. Without aid, the casual viewer may not understand a picture's content or context. (E.g., When and where was this picture taken? What is this a picture of? Who are these people?) Even the photographer himself may not remember these things one or five years later. Metadata is the useful mnemonic device that stores this information.

Photo Paint Shop Album locks picture metadata (image title, description, and keyword category) inside a proprietary database instead of supporting the EXIF and IPTC metadata standards (which embed metadata inside the picture file). PPSA users therefore cannot easily share a complete memory with those who do not use Photo Paint Shop Album. Without accompanying metadata, an office party photograph (Office Holiday Party 2004: Roy and his wife Maya, Ciara and Laura. Unbeknownst to Maya, Ciara is Roy's workplace mistress.) quickly becomes just another picture. As digital photograph collections become mainstream, support for EXIF and IPTC metadata should become only more important, to provide a standard, seamless way to share, search for and organize images based on timestamp and picture caption content - among a user's chosen image manager, online photo-sharing service (such as Fotki.com), and family and friends (who may use something other than Photo Paint Shop Album). PPSA users who want to share picture metadata with other users must manually copy and paste it for each picture they want to share.

In Version 5, Paint Shop Photo Album's continued lack of EXIF and IPTC metadata support becomes a functional liability. Version 5's new Calendar View utilizes EXIF timestamp information to create its timeline-based organizational view of pictures, but ironically, the program lacks an EXIF editor. Users who want to scan and organize their shoeboxes of old photographs and film negatives, and those who order picture CD's along with their analog film developing orders cannot take full advantage of PPSA's Calendar View. PPSA sorts pictures lacking EXIF timestamps by the file system's Last Modified Date, because the program cannot timestamp the original date the photograph was taken. Fortunately, users can turn to freeware EXIF metadata editors to mitigate this issue, such as Exifer (http://www.exifer.friedemann.info).

Despite PPSA's letdown on EXIF and IPTC metadata support, most consumer-grade digital media library managers also still do poorly in metadata management, which sort of defeats the purpose of their existence. Of Paint Shop Photo Album's competitors, only ACDSee has EXIF metadata editing abilities, and therefore, a fully-functional Calendar View.

Jasc's Paint Shop Photo Album 5 is a well-rounded introduction to digital image library management. Curious users may quickly outgrow PPSA's rudimentary implementations of many features and look for more advanced software, but Paint Shop Photo Album 5 introduces people to more exciting possibilities of digital photography and digital image library management than its competitors.
