1 comments about Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard (Mac).
  1. Acrobat 7 Standard on the Mac offers nearly all the features of Acrobat 7 Professional. The windows version of Professional includes a whole extra program (livecycle designer) for creating forms and using xml data. The Mac version does not include that program.

However, Professional does offer a couple of very important features:
    1) The first is building indexes of documents. Indexing is similar to a search but is much more powerful. An index is a pre-built catalog of all the words in your document, saved as a separate file. After the index is built, whenever you want to search a document, you search the index instead, and searches are almost instantaneous. Searching a regular pdf without an index is quite slow. The real power of the index comes when you index multiple pdf's at once. You could have 100 reports, or a dozen books, or whatever, pre-indexed, and any future search is very very fast. Indexing is definitely a slick feature and an impressive trick if you create content for end users or clients.

    2) The other important feature is mostly for the advertising/design/print community. Acrobat Pro allows a lot of interaction with press-ready files. You can view separations, preflight documents, and chop large pages into smaller pieces and print any portion of a page you like. If you work with documents for a living, the Professional version is almost a must-have.

Finally....speed. Version 7 is still slow to load. But on a Mac you can leave your computer on for weeks at a time and just leave Acrobat running, so that's not too big of a deal. You can speed up load times by de-activating plug-ins that you don't use. If you just use Acrobat to just view documents, you don't need a lot of the plug-ins. If you use Acrobat professionally, I'd leave the plug-ins active. Do a Get Info on the Acrobat program, click open the Plug-ins tab, and you can uncheck plug-ins to deactivate. For a full description of each plug-in, look under the help menu while in Acrobat.

CONCLUSION: Great program. Good upgrade from 6. Pro version offers useful power features. Mac users a little shortchanged on forms creation.

  1. I am just about to return this application. The printed guide is only a few pages long and of little help and the cd tutorial sucks. I got this product to make a floor plan for a remodeling. I have some CAD experience with electronic layouts and I spent 2 hours on this thing and couldn't figure out how to use any time-saving short cuts or handy tools. I would have spent the same amount of time drawing by hand.
This may be a great program once you learn how to use it, however, its not "The Fastest, Easiest Way to Design!".

  2. I just got this and tried to get support for it. Guess what, it's to old. It also is not the easiest to use, I have since went back to an old AutoCAD program I have. That is much easier and more defined. I design and build my own furniture, not with this program. I have taken it off my system and just consider it a lesson learned, "no more cheap programs, if I want them to work".

  1. I got tired of having tons of unused business cards with outdated info and I've decided to try making my own cards when it's needed. I bought this program and some Avery CleanEdge paper and installed it on my laptop. What was my impression? Well, it was easy as promised. Of course, many of their 4000+ design samples were not very impressive, but I found something very close to what I was looking for and customization took just a few minutes. When I entered my Avery paper code, it picked picked it up and printed just perfectly, the cards came out looking really good. So it does it's job and I've got what I've been promised in a very quick time. I can't say anything bad about this software, so I gave 5 stars.

But I want to give you a little warning. if you're technically savvy and not going to use really advanced features like matching envelopes, blanks etc, then you can probably get the same thing done in regular Microsoft Word. It will take a little bit longer, but it's pretty much the same standard document editor with some clip art collection. So before you buy make sure you understand clearly what you want to get and it's really beyond what you can do with your favorite text editor.

  2. I am familiar with the Greeting card factory delux and since I was familiar with the layout it was very easy to learn the Business Card Factory Delux program because it has virtually the same user interface which works very nice.

It only took me a few minutes to have some professional business cards printed up.

    Great program

  3. Product did work. Several attempts were needed because you were not aware of transfer completion. Better directions are needed to complete transfer. Not all programs worked on new computer. Some had to be reinstalled manually. Installation took approx. 2 hours.

  4. I've had most of the versions of this program over the years. It is one of those "must have" programs to make business cards of any description. There is plenty of clipart to use with the templates; the templates are good starting points for designs, which are customizeable. It's fast and intuitive. With Avery print to edge labels the results are outstanding. Installation is slow, I think all the clipart is copied to the computer. Art Explosion software I've had always goes the extra mile.

  1. We use this to seam together pictures for use in real estate. It works great, is easy to use and worth every dime.

  2. I recently bought a 1GB Fujifilm XD card and Panorama Maker 4 was included as a freebie. I was sceptical at first but i just followed the instructions and used a tripod (you must use a tripod) and the software stitches the photos together pretty much automatically. If you click on my name above you can see some examples on my homepage. I highly recommend this software to people wishing to capture the "feel" of a place...sometimes one photo just isnt enough.

PS: Horizontal, vertical and 360 degree panoramas are all possible with this software however ive only used 360 degree and horizonal ones so far. They turned out great!

  3. While I enjoyed the free-trial version of this product, having inserted the software disc into the computer quickly became a nightmare. I was not given a license number to even allow me to go beyond a set-up screen. I also could not register the product and received no helpful information from ArcSoft, or whoever designed this software. With all the online manuals on their site for each product, one did not exist for Panorama Maker 4. I purchased and chose to have the actual software mailed instead of downloading, since the free-trial version refused to work the first time I attempted to use it. Definitely do not buy any ArcSoft products.

  4. The Arcsoft Panorama Maker 4 is OK. If you have a simple picture series, it will work OK. However, if you start clustering shots with slightly odd angles, it produces a distorted image and not all of the edges align. The software doesn't save the panorama in layers, so you can't hand correct misalignments later. It's a pretty simple program, fun to play, but not a cure-all.

  5. Each month I take a series of pictures on the walls of a three sided room ( 180 degrees)off of a hallway for an art gallery web site. The result I want is a horizontal sliding picture, this program stitches the pictures into one non sliding picture and it also distorts the picture where the wall turns 90 degrees with an unusable result.I went to Arcsofts FYI page and others had the same question as to this result and were told that future updates would correct this and in fact make a sliding picture.I keep checking for an update and so far none, so the program does nothing for me.

  1. I am a computer programmer by trade and I can tell you that this product should have never made it to market. It constantly throws "ActiveX object errors", which from a programmers view are sure sign of poor programming. I have tried the music management portion and the DVD ripping portion of the software & neither one works. Save your money on this one; you will be glad you did. Too bad it is not possible to give negative stars, because giving it one star doesn't begin to describe how bad this product is.

  2. This program should be shareware at best. Program is poorly written and designed and if you need to reinstall you have to contact the company and fax them a copy of the original cd. A lot of work for a product that was not ready to be released in the first place! Don't waste your money!

  3. If I could give this product NO stars I WOULD! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! They do not offer a phone number for Tech Support and when you email them, they NEVER reply! I used there product for a few months and even gave them a positive review on it, but then it STOPPED WORKING!!!!!!!!! I had the 2007 Podmaxx BUT WARNING......... The 2008 Podmaxx IS WORSE!!!! It will NOT record ANY DVDS in your Collection EXCEPT for home DVDs!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!

  4. In this case, the "trailer is better than the movie." I tried Podmaxx'08®, the next release, on two machines. It would not install on a Vista machine, but did install on the XP machines. This software is not ready for prime time, as few features worked as claimed. I really wanted this to work and fulfill some of the claims.

  5. Ive tried Podmaxx on a XP Pro desktop and a Visa Laptop. Does not work on either.
Customer services asks the usual questions about operating system etc. but then disappears.
Dont waste your money on this program.
