5 comments about Nero Mix.
  1. I bought this software looking simply to burn different audio formats to audio cds, a simple task right? Not for Nero Mix... Nero Mix is [in my opinion]essentially a... copy of Microsoft Media Player with fancy graphics and a horrid "Winamp" style interface that conforms to no known windows conventions. After 20 minutes, I am style trying to figure out how get to the part where I can look for my mp3's in a directory and compile them onto a cd. I read a review that said there is crossfading and removal of the 2 second pauses but could only find an option to GLOBALLY remove the pauses and not mix them on a track by track bassis. I can find nothing on crossfading, so much for mixes. The worst part is you can't just select files off your hard disk, you have to make your mixes out of their "Playlists". Also when ripping wave files off of audio cd's it lists them as "Track 1" even though it gathered the info from CDDB. Everything about this software [is bad] so far and I am done messing with it. Buyer beware, you can't return software, no matter how hard it bites...

  2. Very easy to use and very powerfull software.

First, it's a media player, similar to WinAmp and many of these features are found in WinAmp. Very easy to make playlists by just dragging whatever files you want from explorer into the playlist window. You can then save the playlist for later use. I actually dragged my entire rock collection (a few 1000 files) into the playlist. Then saved the playlist and I can now shuffle my whole collection. Use the same concept for Internet radion stations like those on Live 365. You can save the station as a "playlist".

You can edit the ID3 tags of your MP3 files, though it's not as full featured as some shareware I've used.

Burning is what you'd expect from Nero. Fast and perfect (helps if you have a burn-proof burner of course). With just a couple clicks, I can burn my whole playlist as either a regular CD or as a data CD. You can also make your own data CD compilations with a similar interface to regular Nero. Not sure what the other poster was talking about with ripping tracks. My rips have full Artist and title descriptions in the filename although it lacks advanced naming conventions such as track number and album (that I can see so far).

MP3Pro encoding is very fast and the quality is excellent. You do have to pay extra for the encoder, but it's worth it.

I'd highly recommend downloading the free update from Nero's web site as it adds a lot of functionality and options.

All in all, you can do all these things with other software, but I find Nero Mix a good place to put it all under one roof so to speak. I hope they add advanced filename generation and ID3 tag generation, but those are minor nitpicks.

  3. this software isnt bad, but its nothing really special about it. its just like nero 5.5 (which i do believe is the best burning software out there) bundled with their version of winamp 2.0 and CDex.... just get 5.5 and programs like these, save a little

  4. just installed mix VERY BUGGY!! AMD k6 Athlon 950 mhz, msi
motherboard, nvidia geforce, win 2k pro. Have nero burning rom,
satisfactory with short comings. problems encountered with mix -
RESOURCE HOG, visualizer in full screen random locks up and freezes control devices such as mouse and esc key. Must ctrl alt del and key scroll to restart - reboot system to solve. can't end task must reboot. VERY ANNOYING. connecting to internet drastically slowed with player running. Do Not Like how icons are replaced with file associations selected, de-select (un-check box) and icons are not restored properly - outlines with no colors. Un install and icons are still not returned to original state, indicating registry corruption. Tried using tweakui rebuild icon - didn't repair.Volume contol now does not use default ding wav with corresponding level to indicate how loud speakers will play, now just gives error boop wav. Does not normalize volume so tracks from different sources have different volume level, requires constant adjusting. VERY ANNOYING. Wish I had not installed. Very disappointed NOT HAPPY. It Now appears that the only way to get my pc back to how it was before NeroMix is to format and reinstall all my programs and files. ... Why do so many program designers (esp. microsoft) release programs long before they will run with just a few glitches vs with major problems. Gotta be greed cause sure do have plenty o cash already! WILL RECOMMEND AVOID INSTALLING MIX TO ALL END USERS.

Signed NOT HAPPY & VERY ANNOYED

  5. I got this to make CDs with mp3 files and i haven't been able to make a single CD with it. I tried it on at least 3 computers and they all had a different error reason for it not to burn the CD. I would not buy this again

5 comments about Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Web Premium Upgrade [Mac] [OLD VERSION].
  1. I didn't exactly buy the product....I had to return it because I made the mistake of purchasing the wrong software. I meant to get the Design Premium not the Adobe Web Premium. Anyhow I was pleased with the service I got from J&R. They were easy to talk to and made the return simple and easy.

  2. i waited almost a year for an intel-native mac build of creative suite. declined the upgrade to cs2 as rosetta is only a barely passable solution. previously complained about cs1 - feature set was good, stability wasn't. this release has a number of nice new features & its stability has been good. there are still a number of unwanted bits & pieces, fireworks being one, the adobe stock photos being the most annoying (how do you stop its incessant upgrades if you haven't installed it in the first place?) but photoshop, dreamweaver, illustrator, & flash are all brilliant. i run the first two all the time, the latter two now&then. recommended for all web developers. a good effort from adobe (too bad about the naughty phone-home problem). still find bridge, contribute, device central, & other items of dubious value, however.

  3. CS 3 does not disappoint! With the special new features in all programs, the products have become even more seamless.

  4. This is a great upgrade and the creative suite applications keep getting better and faster.

  5. The Adobe suite is still the only option out there for serious Mac developers. However, the price and heavy handed approach to registration is overwhelming. I now can't use my version because the computer it was registered on was upgraded to Leopard and Adobe thinks all registrations are used. Requires an internet connection to even launch. It may run in demo mode for 30 days without an internet connection after registration, don't know for sure. I don't like being treated like a crook after spending thousands of dollars and being a loyal customer for a decade.

Also the updater seems to run every other use since so many products are in the suite. Granted, I only need it about every two weeks. Arg.... another Microsoft!

5 comments about Microsoft Expression Web Professional Design Tool.
  1. For the most part, there isn't much difference between Front Page 2003 and Expression Web. I created two websites in the last 6 months and I found Expression Web far easier to use.

If you really want to make full use of this program, you'll use style sheets and some of the other advanced features that are not completely intuitive. FP 2003 had those same features, but I found ExWeb not only easier to use, but it rendered previews more accurately than FP2003.

It's not a bad program. If you're serious about web design and standards, this might be the product for you. If you're just learning, you may want to find something cheaper or something downloadable for free. (caution, free downloads often contain spyware or other malicious code within the program).

  2. Microsoft has made some real improvements over the horrible FrontPage series... but it's amazing how many bugs this thing has. I've been using it for a couple months now, and besides the fairly frequent hangs, it'll occasionally undo the changes you just made when you save, has difficulties pasting in from a Word document, and creates and absurd amount of junk CSS at the top of your page by default. I frankly don't need an entirely new CSS class if I want to bold and italicize one word on a page, yet it'll create one and throw it at the top, so if you do a lot of formatting, you'll have a mountain of junk CSS in your header. It does handle CSS a million times better than FrontPage which offered virtually no support, but it still has a LONG way to go and probably should've been subjected to a couple more months of Beta testing before this release.

  3. I bought this because I had a website in frontpage that is being discontinued by Microsoft. I watched the tutorial which was just an overview...but when I have tried to watch it again to study it....it is frozen up. It is not my computer because it is new and top of the line. I called the company that produced it (a microsoft vendor) and they have yet to get back with me with the resolution.

This program is extremely more complicated than frontpage and does not have a simple way to learn exactly how and when to use all of the many features. It seem like 3 programs in one overlayed on top of each other.

  4. This is the first WYSIWYG editior i have used. Other reviwers say this program is not for beginners and does not have any help for them. I dissagre because if you use the online help you can find the subject you are looking for. I am a beginner to web design but I found this program easy to use and very good. I use the basic features but as I get more advanced I will probaly use them. I do not know CSS but i know how it works. On of my favorite feutures is that you can type in things on the design view and the program will generate all the code needed. The program itself looks sort of like Visual studo. Overall I recommend it. Great program! It lacks php and secure ftp though.

  5. I bought this software to help me design several web sites including an e commerce site. Overall, this software is very user friendly. Having never used any major web design software, I found it easy to navigate and figure out although I must admit that I had to refer to a help book to decifer a few things - especially with the e commerce site. Once you understand the basics though, it is very straight forward. The tutorials are good. The help links are also good. No regrets in buying it!
