1. I've used the free tutorial available from the net (dBase site) to learn this reports generator : it's a very efficient tool (both). But it requests some tricks that can't be found easily by his own. This book give some interesting tracks to follow, and could be qualified as a good "Reference book" where it's easy to have a quick look, just to find some new solutions. thank's to the writer(s)

1. I boought and read a couple of other IBM press books looking for this one. If you are a DBA or a wanna be BDA then this is the book that you want to read. I found the writting smooth and usefull. I did read a paragraph that was lifted almost directly from the IBM db2 administration guide. I have not made use of the cd yet nor have I taken the certification test so I can not comment on the works usefullness in those two areas.
   
   I recomend this book to the DBA or the developer. I would not recommend this book to the nontechnical reader.



2. Realmente estoy muy complacido con este libro, el cual me ha servido para prepararme y poder certificarme, lo recomiendo ampliamente.
   I'm relly satisfied with this book, it has been a big help to get ready and get my own db2 certified, i'd highly recommend it.



3. So it claims that Chapter 1-8 covers the objectives for Exam 700. It should have said - and MORE, SO MUCH MORE. Which borders on garbage.
   
   Please focus only on the exam objectives. The topic on MDC perhaps should have covered over 30 pages in a book titled "DB2 New Features" instead of this one?
   
   I passed 700 and 701 thanks to FREE IBM Exam Prep Tutorials and the Supplementals. These 2 are ALL one needs.



4. When I first started with DB2, this book was recommended to me by someone who read the v7.2 book by the same authors. This was the most confusing techie book I have ever read. Amongst all the typos, my biggest gripe is the index. You may as well rip the index out of the book because it is useless. There hasn't been one time where I wanted to look something up, referring to the index, and found what I was looking for. Its like a 900 page book with a 7 page index... useless.



5. Once again, I'm guilty of judging a book by its title. I expected a somewhat comprehensive treatment of DB2 in this one, instead this book focuses on the differences (improvements) over previous versions of DB2. So, if what you're interested in are the new features, you'll find a survey treatment of those here. Of course, Version 9 is the hot thing now, so the "new" features of 8 aren't so new anymore. Hype just doesn't make for a classic book. Not a great book; but it is okay.

1. If you are new to Delphi *and* database programming, this book will ease you into some simple applications and provide a general overview of Delphi programming.Despite being a tad redundant in it's explantions, the authors manage to get enough useful information into this modestly sized volume. For more advanced Delphi database programmers that have all the standard texts (ie Henderson's, Swan's, Leif's et al) , 'Kick Ass Delphi...' provides some interesting peeks into the professional world of coding...

1. I use it frequently when I want more details, use it in addition to redbooks and manuals



2. A concise & up to date guide on all things relating to DB2 by one of the top authers. Highly recommended.



3. I updated my library with the new edition of this Book. As in the older versions, it will be a valuable resource used daily. Thanks!



4. This may be considered the Bible of DB2 books but it is lacking a whole Testament! If, like me, you are looking for info on dynamic and extended dynamic SQL to avoid having to read IBM manuals, you've come to the wrong place as this book says words to the effect of "If you want info on dynamic SQL, read the IBM manual" and leaves it at that. You would do better to hunt around the IBM online library and grab the manuals from there - they are actually pretty good, too.



5. THE BIBLE - this is how I call this book. I read this particular edition for the first time in February 2005. Several months later once again, and it's always at my desk. Enormous amount of priceless information. I don't think there has ever been any other publication that managed to cover so much in just 1,000 pages.
   
   And the book is not just "developer's guide" - the book is "The DB2 professional's guide".
