1. I'm only 40 some pages into the book and there are quite a few errors! Luckily I know a little about Visual Basic 5.0 and can kind of figure out how to fix some of the errors that I'm getting. But it's not very good for someone who is just starting to learn VB 6.0! I think I'm just going to skim through the rest of the book and then return it. I suggest looking into other VB 6.0 books if you want to start learning Visual Basic.



2. I wanted to learn programming and had no experience with it. Thinking Visual Basic sounded easy enough, I bought a copy and quickly became frustrated - having no idea at all what to do.

   I then bought a copy of this book after seeing it used as the text at a community college my wife attends. The book turned out to be exactly what I needed. It starts at ground zero - assuming you have no knowledge of "visual programming" and then builds. When you finish, you not only know VB pretty well, but you've got the concepts of programming down as well. Highly recommended.




3. Warning: be sure you get the second printing of this book and not the first. When I first bought it, it was riddled with typos - I contacted the publisher and they told me that the first printing was only a couple of hundred, and all typos were corrected on the second printing. They then replaced my copy and there was not a single error. I found the full color screen shots to be wonderful, and using different colored text in the code really set this book apart from anything else out there. The writing style is very relaxed and the exercises reenforce everything relevant. Best of all, were the case studies.

1. I wanted to prepare myself for Visual Basic 6.0 books and I bought this one, while this book provide good tips and work arounds to arm yourself for the exam. I also recommend Exam Cram book.
