2 comments about 8088 Assembler Language Programming: The IBM PC.
  1. Over all the book was meant to educate the reader about the 8088 processor and how to communicate with it on the machine level. I hope this doesn't ruin the plot?! To me, it was well written, although some parts are a little machine particular, that can be over come with a little common sense. I'm very thankful that Mr. Willen decided to write the book, otherwise, I would be lost "in unknown territory."Thanks!!

  2. SAMS

    8088 Assembler
    Language Programming:
    The IBM® PC
    Second Edition

    In this book, you will learn:

    * How the IBM Personal Computer works.

    * About the 8088 microprocessor and other important components of the IBM PC.

    * How to program this computer in assembly language to gain fast execution of programs and close control over the actual circuits of the computer.

    * How to control the system hardware, including the keyboard, video display printer, serial-communications adapter, and diskette drives.

    Includes sample programs.

    Written for anyone, whether hobbyist or professional, who wants to know about the IBM Personal Computer and the Intel 8088 microprocessor.

    Machine Requirements:
    * IBM PC Compatible Systems (96K)
    * 1 Disk Drive
    * IBM Macro Assembler

    My Comment: This is one of two books that, in my opinion, are essential if you want to program the 'metal' of the IBM PC and its descendants. All of the basic hardware elements of the PC are covered with many diagrams that explain exactly how this computer can be programmed.

1 comments about An Introduction to HP48 System RPL and Assembly Language Programming.
  1. This book is very good introducing SysRPL and ASSEMBLER, but just 20% of the SySRPL comands are explained, also on the assembler part there are a lot of things missing, The book is good but not enough information for serious programers. Good for starting out of UserRPL.
