- The "Sepia Sinatra" delivers some gorgeous music. "Poverty" is a great song, as is "There Ain't Nothin' You Can Do," and Bland's singing matches. I'm a bargain shopper, and this is one's a bargain.
- ...the legendary Bobby Blue Bland's classic cuts all on one great priced right CD. "I Pity the Fool", "Turn On Your Love Lite", "Don't Cry No More" and the definitive version of "Stormy Monday"...are you gonna luv this.

- There are few surprises for the Lightin' aficionado on this - or any - cd. Unless you've never heard him play piano, of course. Curiously, he plays the same notes on it as he does on the guitar, through in E minor, rather than straight 'E'.
But Lightin' people don't want surprises. They want the old fellow doing the same ol' thang, and this cd is packed with all the usual favourites : a touch of testifying ('Glory Be'); dolorous, heart-rending dirges (''Last Night', 'Awful Dreams') ; masses of lovely walkin' boogie ('Mojo Hand', 'Shake That Thing') ; and meditative. Lightnin' always did give great meditative, and 'Sittin'Down Thinkin' and 'Last Night' are right up there with the best of his more reflective pieces. But for the real harrowing, spine-tingling down home sto' po'chin' Hellhound on my trail, just listen to track one, 'Lonesome Dog Blues', where he hits that second string on tenth fret and bends it all the way up to Galveston, making it it howl like a houn' dawg. If ever the blues gets better than this, this old blues-man doesn't have the heart to stand it. Gorgeous stuff!

- I simply love Lightnin's electric guitar playing. He's like a sprightly John Lee Hooker when he plugs in. I really like this album even though I know I "shouldn't"! It's a low-budget wonder. Lightnin' stretches out in this incredibly slow-granding way with tunes like "Brand New Automobile" and "Mister Charlie II". I play this album often because it is so innocuously enjoyable.

- I really love this album, 'though I know I shouldn't in the "snob" sense. Lightnin' Hopkins is simply my favorite electric guitar player. I like every single song on this album -- Lightnin' is like a sprightly John Lee Hooker when he goes electric. I prefer Lightnin' plugged in to unplugged. Plugged in he's something else entirely. "Brand New Automobile" and "Mr. Charlie (Pt. II)" are slow grinding wonders. I keep going back to this low-budget enterprise time and again, and really enjoy it. Well worth the piddly-squat price!

- The Sound that Made Bobby Bland famous was not created by Deadric Malone. Deadric Malone is the pseudonym of Duke Records owner Don Robey. Joe Scott created and wrote all the hits for Bland when he was signed to the Duke label. Joe Scott's catalog of music under the Duke label has Robey's Name(Malone) with it. Don Robey was not a muscian and he did not write any of the songs that are listed. In that time it was a common practice for label owners to claim credit for the artist and composer's original compositions. Robey used many pseudonym's to claim partial ownership on his artist song credits. Joe Scott was the in house producer for all of the artist on Duke and Peacock Record labels. Joe Scott also was the band leader for Bobby Bland during the height of his career. Real History!!!
- Forty seven years later, this is a "must add" to my CD collection. It most certainly brought back good some "ol memories".
- It has been years since I listened to Bobby "Blue" Bland. These are earlier and, to me, more enjoyable recordings of his. His voice has the energy of a younger singer, yet still has the blues and soul that he had throughout his career. In short, buy it--you will enjoy it also.
- This CD is fabulous.
It is one of my favorites R&B recordings. I loved Bobby Bland's music back in the fifties and sixties and to hear it again is a real turn on.
For those just beginning to appreciate great R&B "Two Steps From The Blues" is a must listen. One of the best without a doubt.
- Hearing Bobby Bland sing these real blues numbers was like a trip back into the past when Blues lyrics were pure and sung totally from the heart. I will treasure this CD and encourage my kids and grandkids to listen and learn what real blues was all about. I was pleased to learn that these selections were the original recordings as I remembered them from back in the fifties and sixties. Bland's rendition of "St. James Infirmary" is the best in my opinion. If anyone wants to experience the authentic Bobby "Blue" Bland, then this is the CD to purchase.

- this one has a pop edge to it, it was in the time when you could still get your videos on mtv, and they did. even with a little more middle of the road sound, it is still the fabulous thunderbirds with jimmie freakin' vaughn on the stratocaster. kim wilson leading the boys, they still give their songs that austin edge. always a good one to put in the play rotation.
- I originally bought the cd when it came out back in the eighties but lost it when my mustang got stolen. I have been looking for the cd ever since. If you like blues rock & roll you will love the thunderbirds tuff enuff. Excellent buy any time. Long live blues and rock & roll.
- One of the best blues based rock albums ever made. Jimmie Vaughan's guitar matched with Kim Wilson's vocal and blues harp makes one hell of a cd, I own this one on vinyl as well.
- With the release of the single `Tuff Enuff' in 1986, the Fabulous Thunderbirds earned the public's attention. The song is a high energy bass-thumping R&B number with an unforgettable shimmering rhythm guitar - great Texas roadhouse blues. The album `Tuff Enuff' is a collection of blues, rock & roll, and R&B - excellent bar music. Unfortunately, in this case, the fervor of a live act (especially after two of three beers) doesn't translate well during the recording session. The Fabulous Thunderbirds are a legitimate blues band, but nothing here matches the vigor of the title song. Producer Dave Edmunds attempts to cover the band's shortcomings with "speed playing." `Amnesia,' `True Love,' `I Don't Care' and `Down At Antones' are played at what seems like 100 MPH. What's the purpose in playing 8 and 12-bar blues at breakneck speed? Fast may get the crowd on the dance floor in front of the band "live," but the muscle and exhilaration just isn't here.
- I first listened to this CD when is was 17 years old and I was blown away. This is a good way to get introduced to the blues. The title track is rockin and a songs such as "Look at That, Look at That", "Wrap it Up", and Two Time My Loving, can stand up against any other songs to come out during the 80's. In an era where hair bands were everywhere this no nonsense band struck gold with this release. Some people know the T-Birds as the band with Stevie Ray Vaughns brother in it but they were much more than that. They are still together minus Jimmie but this is the one where everything clicked

- This is a great album! This has all of their great hits.I highly recommend this album!
- Kim Wilson solo is even better! I saw him at a
blues club by the Virginia Beach oceanfront ten
years ago. He interacted well with the crowd and
slapped me five when he came into audience. But
'Fabulous' Thunderbirds is a stretch. Good or
better than Avg. would be sufficient!
- The Fabulous Thunderbirds are what real Rock n' Roll is all about! This is a really good compilation, it hits all the high spots and is a joy to listen to. The sound is very good and everything about this compilation is just great. If you love good Rock, you need this!
- HOT STUFF: THE GREATEST HITS is a wonderful collection of the Fabulous Thunderbirds' later material, which combined their Texas R&B with a Memphis funk style to create a blend which succeeded in crossing over to rock radio. You should buy this anthology and the first four CDs first to start your Fabulous Thunderbirds collection.
- What I just found out today was some of the best news I have ever heard. The T-birds are playing at my prom! This will be the best night of my lifee!!
