- This Tony guy cracks me up. In his review he writes:
>>Long Line of Losers - Solid straightforward country song from Eddie. I have a feeling this could see the same massive success on radio as "Lucky Man."<<
Dude, Eddie didn't write that song. That's a Kevin Fowler song that MG decided to hack away at and totally ruin.
Check out Kevin's version and throw rocks at your MG CDc. Besides, they kill little bears that are locked in cages.
- I love this CD! I am so excited about this album because it sounds like they went back to their roots. A lot of the songs sound like their earlier work...which I believe was better than the last two albums they've produced. I'm very glad that I bought this cd and I can't wait for a new one to come along! This cd has a great mix of emotion and talent!
- Montgomery Gentry are one of the few duals out there that still sing "true" Country Music. Their music tells a story. Sometimes it makes you laugh, sometimes it makes you stop and look at your own life situations, but it all gives you a great feeling when you listen to it. This is absolutely one of my favorite CDs in my huge collection of country music! A must have!!!
- this is the best of montgomery gentry that i've heard so far. they have a very unique sound that is very inspiring
- I really enjoy the purchase I made. Thank you again for servicing me. Lyle J. Christenson.

5 comments about Chronicle Vol. 2: Twenty Great CCR Classics.
- Chronicle was a let down for me. I guess Chronicle 1 had almost all of the best Credence songs. I actually bought this album for the song "Midnight Special" with the hope that the other songs would be as good or better. It had a lot of cover songs that I don't think they did particularly well.
- I'm going to take a different approach to reviewing albums on Amazon. Instead of going in depth on each album and describe each album in detail, i'm going to simply rate each album with how many stars I feel each album is worth based on the below criteria. I hope this helps you make a better decision on purchasing this album with a simple individual rating. If it doesn't help read another review.
5 stars- Classic, Album goes beyond description, Perfect in every way, Could remind you of a certain time or place, Lifetime replay value.
4.5 stars- Near Classic, Incredible album, Maybe only one song that is skippable or just overall doesn't quite deserve classic status. High replay value.
4.0 stars- Awesome album. Very solid album from start to finish. Met every expectation and more. Maybe only one song or two that is skippable or just doesnt' quite deserve a classic or near classic rating. High replay value.
3.5 stars- Above average album. Solid from start to finish but there are a few songs worth skipping. Met expectations, minimal replay value.
3.0 stars- Average album. Nothing bad but nothing great either. After the initial appeal will collect dust.
2.5 stars- Major disappointment. You had high expectations that were ruined as this album is not good at all. There might be only one or two songs worth listening to. No replay value.
2.0 stars- Below average album. This album doesnt bother you to hear as background music but you would rather not listen to it if you didnt have to. No songs really appeal. No replay value.
1.5 stars- Terrible album. Makes one sick to hear it. No songs really appeal but there might be one song that you could stand to hear. Would rather throw in garbage than even waste space in your collection.
1.0 stars- Makes one cringe and the ears bleed!
*keep in mind, each album review might not be based on opinion of the band but the album itself in the bands discography.
- I bought this in addition to Chronicle Vol. 1, because I wanted "Born On The Bayou" & "The Midnight Special." As compared to Vol. 1, more of the songs on Vol. 2 are covers of songs by writers other than John Fogerty, & I was less familiar with the CCR covers of those songs than I was with those written by John Fogerty. I really liked most of their covers. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover a few John Fogerty originals that I didn't know from my youth that were really good. As a true CCR fan, I'm happy I have Vol. 2, but Vol. 1 is more reliable as a general sampling of CCR. Still, I recommend Vol. 2 to anyone who is willing to accept a few (& I don't mean many) songs on a CD that won't really flip their switch mixed in with some truly classic songs.
- Chronicles 2 is the second installment of Creedence Clearwater's greatest hits.
Chronicles 2 has many great songs, its just not the best of CCR'
What really amazes me is......it is very obvious that they left Born on the Boyou off of Chronicles so they had a hook to get you to buy this second edition. It may or not be good business but it is dishonest.
If you want the best of CCR get Chronicles....if you want great songs, but not the very best, get this.
John Fogerty is so good and CCR was so good, you will still enjoy this CD.
- What can you say. If you love CCR, you'll love all their songs in a compilation. I received Chronicles 1 & 2 as a gift and ended up buying them for a family member as a gift too! Enjoy!

5 comments about Kid Rock.
- it is so good.i would buy it again if i had to.it is better then a five.
- Of course EVERYTHING Kid Rock does is AWESOME and this is just another notch in his music career!
- I love this album. Something about it evokes a wide spectrum of emotions for me. From wanting to party my face off (Cadillac Pussy, Feel Like Makin' Love, Son of Detroit) to feeling the emptiness of lost love (Cold and Empty, Hard Night for Sarah, Single Fathter), and everything in between. The track "Rock 'n' Roll" just makes me want to give in to every naughty temptation and do things that good girls aren't supposed to do.
This is a very American album, as another reviewer put it. Kid Rock seems to appreciate all genres of truly American styles, and is the only artist to successfully unite these sounds. His other albums, Devil Without a Cause, Cocky, and Rock and Roll Jesus, are also fantastic albums. I have enjoyed Kid Rock's evolution through these albums. But there is something extra special about this album.
- Excellant! If you like Kid Rock, this CD is great. I have all of his CD's & plan to see him in concert on my birthday, March 19th.
- i didn't like it at first but now i love it. what else is there to say. this stands for what the guy likes which he has stated on other albums since the begining. great songwriting.

5 comments about Tres Hombres.
- Back in the very early days of what was the called Rock & Roll, guys like Elvis and Bill Haley and the Comets, "Rock" was kind of a big band boogie kind of affair. For me at least it wasn't really Rock until a little trio from Texas came along called Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Rock was pared down to its bones, a bass, a guitar and drums, with edgy lyrics that people didn't know exactly what to do with.
In that fine tradition came this little band from Texas, and a new generation of Tex Rock was born. After its release, Tres Hombres was the one album that always got played at any party I went to in High School, and all the guys thought of themselves as Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers. At one dance at my school, the band was playing "La Grange" and I didn't like the way the vocalist was singing, so I took the mike, and sang it myself. All my friends went crazy, and the band didn't seem to mind, because the next time they played where I was, the smiled and pointed, and said "Hey, there's that dude!"
Now over the years, I have gladly outgrown the lifestyle, but still, I love to crank this great CD up from time to time, and remember the days when I was want to do stupid things, just because I could, the fun and the friends, and the music. Life's been good to me.
So here's the deal, if you don't know this album, it (for me) is still the best thing that ZZ Top has done, and it is a great example of Party Rock from the Mid 70's
- Excellent sound quality. I'm now hearing the more subtle things that we couldn't hear back in the 8-track days. I saw these guys many, many times in the early 70's just before they hit it big and this CD really brings those shows back to life.
If you're a ZZ fan you will love this version.
- This is my personal favorite ZZ Top album, thankfully remastered in it's original form (minus all of the synthetic crap added on the Six Pack remixes and not fixed until 2006). Everybody even vaguely familiar with ZZ Top probably already knows the merits of these songs on this disc. My main reason for writing this review was to warn about downloading the mp3 album (which I almost did because this item was out of stock). When you click on the Buy mp3 link, it directs to to the 1990 release, which is the one you DON'T want. Apparently Amazon doesn't have the 2006 Original Recording Remaster available for download.
- Awesome album all round, so glad they are back the world will always need ZZ TOP, HAVE MERCY!
- No doubt the best ZZ Top offering of all! Three chord blues at it's finest! A total classic! This album/cassette/CD/ has been rockin' households for the last 35 years and still will be for the next 35 years as long as there are beer drinkers and hell raisers!

5 comments about Away From The Sun.
- I think that 3 Doors Down has to be one of the best Rock bands in recent years. They did the impossible with this album, made it better than the original. If you are a fan of 3 Doors Down and the album "The Better Life", then you will love this. "Away From the Sun" is the perfect album. Any song on this record are good enough to be a single. I don't dance, but man did I feel like dancing while listening to this! I couldn't help but move when I listen. If you are a fan, you will think this album rocks! And you will be correct.
- Definitely 3 Doors Down's best album. Every song is good on here, and most of them really rock. It's a shame that they don't try to push their boundaries, though, because they could be so much more than an average, super-popular pop/rock band.
- If you like 3 Doors down, you'll love it, if you dont, you'll hate it. It's my favorite album of theirs though.
- this cd was ok. i'm more into harder rock but i'm still happy w/ this purchase.
- Honestly, before 3 Doors Down, I was never really into this type of music all that much, but the first CD i heard from them Was Away From the Sun, and even since I've not only been hooked on them, but I've explored other similar artists and found I like what I hear as I get older. This should attest to the effectiveness of this CD!
People argue that The Better Life was their best work, but I'd definitely have to say that Away From The Sun easily takes that title. This is one of those CDs where I don't have to skip a single track, automatically making it a classic as far as I'm concerned.
With hard hitting tracks like "Sarah Yelling", "Dangerous Game", "Going Down In Flames", "This Time", and "When I'm Gone" you cant help but be affected by the raw energy these guys bring on this album. The more somber songs on here are no less then great as well, like "Here Without You", "Changes" and "I Feel You". The weakest track on here would definitely be "Ticket To Heaven", but its still good, its just more pop/rock-ish then I like for my tastes.
Its worth the buy, grab it if you can, you wont be disappointed. 3 Doors Down in general is awsome, but this is probably their best work to date.

- Elvis is great ,evey song was very inspirational, i am real pleased with this cd.
- There are 3 disks in this "complete gospel" album. While some are wonderful, many are poor as they were only "jamming" sessions and outside of Elvis' vocal range. I'm glad I didn't buy the recording and pay full price.
- My grandfather likes it very much. He just transitioned to cds with his new truck.
- This is Elvis at his best with the music he loved. With each song, you feel the emotion he sang with. This 3 cd set is the best. I highly recommend it, and to even to those who have never followed his music will feel his love.
- Singing Gospel Music. It's what Elvis loved the most, and what he did better than any mortal who ever lived on this earth. This incredible 3 CD set has every Gospel song ever done by the King - The 1 EP, three LPs, live performances, rehearsals, jam sessions. No one could do Gospel Music better than Mr. Presley & of all the various genres (rock, country, ballads, blues, etc.) Gospel was what he loved the best. I could listen to this music around the clock & it would never get old. Whether atheist or Bible Believer - YOU NEED THIS MUSIC - you'll never be the same. Thank you Elvis!!

5 comments about Waiting for Columbus.
- this cd is pure heaven. the late lowell george was the coolest slide player. i love billy and the rest of the feats. this concert was taped according to bill and paul. why doesn't warner bros. release a dvd of this concert. anyway if you to get your foot tapping and enjoy good music buy this remastered version. miss you lowell...
- "Waiting for Columbus" is so reminiscent of the '70's arena concert scene I could feel the press of bodies trying to get closer to the stage along with the sweet smell of weed being smoked throughout the arena. It's a great flashback to a now bygone era. Good quality live recording from the apex of Lowell George's Little Feat. Except for Lowell George the band is still together and spinning out that distinctive supertight jazzy rock-n-roll boogie groove the right way! And I know you know what I mean! Little Feat now allows recording of their concerts by fans. Many live recordings can be found in circulation on the net from recent shows. If you don't already own it, add this one to your collection.
- Little Feat's classic Waiting for Columbus (1978) is one of rock music's most distinguished live albums, and deservedly so. The performances are enthusiastic and professional, and the song selection is everything that you would expect from this Lowell George fronted version of Little Feat. The musicianship is outstanding!
These performances were recorded in August of 1977 at The Rainbow Theatre in London and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Although enough material was recorded for a 3-record set, Waiting for Columbus was originally released as a double album. With this reissued 2-disc edition, we get all of the original songs plus the unreleased archived recordings. It all sounds great, too.
The music of Little Feat is a mix of laid back and funky New Orleans piano blues and slide guitar dominated electric rock n' roll. They also incorporate a lot of jazz and a little of country into their sound, and vocalist and slide guitar legend Lowell George's wry and demented lyrics suggest a Frank Zappa influence leftover from his days as a guitarist with Zappa's Mothers Of Invention.
The Little Feat staples from this era are covered nicely here, including Fat Man In The Bathtub, All That You Dream, Time Loves A Hero, Spanish Moon, and an incredible 9:00 minute version of Dixie Chicken. They go hippie country and western with semi-unplugged versions of Willin' and the hilarious Don't Bogart That Joint. Most of the songs feature excellent solos from Lowell on slide guitar, Paul Barrere on electric guitar, and Bill Payne on piano and synthesizer especially, but the Tower Of Power horn section is smoking hot as well, and they add tremendously to the sound of the entire album.
Guest performances include ex-Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor on Apolitical Blues, and the Doobie Brothers' Michael McDonald and Patrick Simmons provide the backing vocals on Red Streamliner.
Unfortunately, Lowell George would die of a heart attack at 34 less than two years after these shows were recorded. While Little Feat has continued to record and tour with several different lineups since then, this album captures the classic band in peak form. Waiting for Columbus features the talents of many, but for much of the album, it's Lowell George who takes center stage, and his singing, songwriting, and legendary slide guitar playing is clearly the primary focus. He doesn't disappoint anybody, either. Waiting for Columbus is an essential live rock n' roll album that's in a class with the best live rock music albums of it's time.
- "Waiting For Columbus" is one of the best live albums ever recorded, and this two disc packaging improves dramatically on what was already a classic. The album was recorded over several nights at the Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University in Washington, DC and at the Rainbow Theatre in London during August 1977. Tragically, Little Feat's dynamic frontman, Lowell George, would play his last concert at Lisner less than two years later.
This two CD set restores some great songs to the earlier abridged release, notably "Cold, Cold, Cold," "Rock and Roll Doctor," and "Teenage Nervous Breakdown." This album is one of the few live albums that stands the test of time, competing favorably with other greats like "Alchemy" from Dire Straits for my favorite live album of all time. For me the standouts here are "Fat Man in the Bathtub," "Mercenary Territory," Spanish Moon," "Dixie Chicken," and "Rocket in my Pocket." The live version of "Feats Don't Fail Me Now," is, like several other songs on the set, a poster child for improvisation, a staple of the live Little Feat experience. During these concerts the Tower of Power horn section contributed constructively to the overall sound of the live band, making an already great listening experience utterly sublime.
I normally don't buy "remastered" albums, but here I wholly endorse spending the money: the sound quality of this release is excellent, and the added material is a gift to Little Feat loyalists like myself.
I could not recommend any recording more highly.
- As a long time Lowell George & Little Feat fan who saw them live at Washington D.C.'s Warner Theater tis live album brings back some great memoriers of my younger days.A mut for all collections.Wheverever you are Lowell keep on Rockin'

5 comments about Eat a Peach.
- This album is a gem--prior to the advent of CDs, I think I wore out 5 or 6 copies of this album on vinyl, and I've kept them all--even the old, worn-out ones. The Allman Brothers Band are often compared with the Dead, but at their best, IMO, they were far better--tighter, more disciplined, even while they were playing "out there." Unlike the Dead's jams, which often seemed chaotic and pointless, under Duane's leadership, the Allman Brothers' jams were more like controlled fire. As good as the rest of the tracks on Eat A Peach are, the second half of the Mountain Jam is for me, the perfect display of Duane Allman's compositional and melodic genius on guitar. After Berry Oakley's bass solo leads into the entire group coming together, Duane lays down several minutes of a thorough schooling in modal improvisation that, even after almost 40 years, still never fails to be awe-inspiring in its tension-and-release: every second counts, not a note is wasted. His three-part solo begins with his slide guitar floating over the swinging rhythm section, building a simple two-note phrase into an intense ride up into the stratosphere, rising toward an intense climax. He gently brings it back down and it almost feels like he's taking a breath before launching himself once again, this time without his slide. The rest of the band is happily along for the ride, so in tune with him, you can tell they're feeling it the same way he is, building their support, riding underneath him as he goes tearing off. He brings it back down again, but he's still not finished, he then does his rendering of the old gospel tune, "Will the Circle be Unbroken," with his inimitable tone, so smooth and sweet it can bring tears to your eyes. Finally he's finished and then leads the band back into the "Mountain" theme, finishing up almost an hour of continuous music. In his announcing the members of the band at the end, you can tell he's exhausted but exhuberant, as is the whole band, jazzed with what they've just done. Give this track another listen, or two or three, preferably more, those who "get it" will never listen to music the same way again. There's just a few musicans who have that spiritual feel to their playing so intense that it's hard for me to listen to anything else after hearing them--John Coltrane is one, Duane Allman is another.
- Living in the south, The Allmans Brothers Band acquired somewhat of a saintly status during the early 1970's. It reminds me of the carefree days of riding in the back of a VW Van and going up to the Atlanta Rock Festival or anywhere in Florida. It seems as if every van and car was listening to either The Allmans or Grand Funk. Time has proven that the Allmans' Eat A Peach is a genuine masterpiece. Songs like One Way Out, Little Martha, Blue Sky and Ain't Wasting Time No More have proven the test of time. This was Duane Allman's swan song before his tragic accident in 1971 and remains my favorite Allman Brothers album of all time. They were the greatest live band I ever saw too.
- I had bought this as a vinyl album many many years ago. I had completely forgotten how good it was. Truly timeless material.
- This is what real music sounds like. There hasn't been much of it in a long time, so we are lucky the old stuff was so good.
- This would have to be their best album ever I bought it when it first came out, even now when we talk about some of the best music we have heard this album is always mentioned.

5 comments about The Big Lebowski: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
- How about the fact that "This Is a Man's World" by the Godfather of Funk, James Brown is missing too. Just like a movie is never like the book, a soundtrack is never like the movie.
Buy it anyway! Good to have.
- First let's get this out of the way: This is a great soundtrack! One cannot help but visualize the film while listening. From Bob to the Gipsy Kings to Kenny Rogers. The songs are now forever linked to the Dude and Jesus and Maude. Anyone who loves the film will want to own this. This review isn't so much about that but about my criticism of film soundtrack criticism in general.
There are several reasons why a soundtrack like this is "incomplete". Most of the time a soundtrack featuring various artists includes much more music than can fit on one cd. With BL specifically obviously there were some tracks that seem like they "must" be included. Songs that were featured prominently (tumbleweeds) or are indispensible to the plot (the eagles or creedence) seem much more valuable than say the Captain Beefheart or Costello songs.
While the "missing" songs are included the film, the rights to these songs may be limited and their inclusion on a soundtrack is NOT possible (how many Led Zeppelin songs have you ever seen on a soundtrack album? They won't even let a few notes of "Stairway to Heaven" be heard in Wayne's World).
I think a third reason is simply financial. Do you want to pay $30 for a "complete" Big Lebowski soundtrack just to get a few tracks that you probably already own (I wanted this cd for the tracks I didn't own or had never heard before. My indispensible track is "Dead Flowers"). Some of the missing songs may have been available but just not affordable if they were going to release a normally priced disc. I can imagine the crooks at Fantasy Records charging an arm an a leg for putting a Creedence track on the soundtrack.
Basically, this cd gives us a challenge to act like the Dude. Let's make our own mix tape (well, okay mix-cd)! The Dude most definately abides!
- There are some definite nuggets here, such as "Condition" and "Hotel California," but there are also some VERY noticeable omissions, such as "Tumbleweeds" and CCR. Also, some of the stuff on this album is a complete mystery to me. I'm listening to it right now, and I can't remember for all the Kahlua in Mexico where some of these songs were in the film. It would be nice to see an improved, 10th anniversary edition of the CD to go with the DVD, but things don't look promising. I guess the licensing was too difficult for some tracks. Basically, I'm glad I got this on ebay.
- I'm still waiting for the COMPLETE "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack". This agression will not stand, man...
- The Big Lebowski CD was a big disappointment. I should have looked more closely, and listened to the whole thing before I bought. There are only 3 or 4 good tracks, and Shawn Colvin's (?) cover of "Viva Las Vegas" isn't even on there. On the other hand, the Spanish language version of "Hotel California" almost makes up for it. Download the tracks you like and forget about the CD.

5 comments about Warpaint.
- This album of the venerable BLACK CROWES shows an extremely mature band totally on top of their game. The Black Crowes have always followed the raunchy guitar driven rock mold of the early seventies greats and have done so with more than exciting results. Never have they struck me as so incredibly fearless, so incredibly certain of themselves. This album carries flavors of what are in my humble opinion some of the best records made during my lifetime. There certainly is some of the fearlessness, the almost-sounds-like-a-demo-ness of the Stones Exile on Main Street. Matter of fact, the track God's Got It could have been included in (LP-) side 3 of Exile's original double-LP-set. But I also hear flavors of the first Chris Jagger LP, of Ronnie Woods better solo-work, of the Family.
But what most strikes me when listening (again and again) to Warpaint is the almost arrogant not-in-controlness-equals-total-in-controlness atmosphere. Almost as if they released an album of first takes, with the occasional slip-up here and there, but with all the enthusiasm and FUN and raw musicality this would bring.
Chapeau, gentlemen. Your album has immediately made it to the 'deserted island' list. And thank you, for countless hours of decibel-filled enjoyment.
Teye
And BTW what f***ing great guitar tones!
- The Black Crowes' seventh studio album, Warpaint, clearly shows that the time off did them good. Before this, it appeared by their output that the band wasn't sure who they were. Their albums bounced from a loose rock band in the spirit of the Stones to more of a jam band and then to a straight out hard rock band. On Warpaint, the Black Crowes have become just a great American band that can take a variety of genres and create a sound that is truly their own. Musically, this is their best album and their songs are at their most consistent. While there is nothing here as catchy or memorable as "She Talks to Angels", "Jealous Again", or "Remedy", tracks like the countryish "Josephine", the ballad "There's Gold in Them Hills", and the woodsy "Whoa Mule" are among their best work. The opening "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution" is a great dirty rocker while "Walk Believer Walk" has this cool chopping rhythm and tons and tons of slide guitar from Luther Dickinson. "Locust Street" is another strong melancholy ballad while "Evergreen" has a sick groove. "We Who See the Deep" has another cool groove with a riff to go along with it. "Movin' on Down the Line" and "Wounded Bird" are strong rockers as the former starts out with an eerie organ line before building in momentum while the latter is driven by more of Dickinson's killer slide work. Finally, "God's Got It" is a bluesy shuffle that works very well. All told, Warpaint is a return to form for the Black Crowes and you could argue that it is their best album. Highly recommended.
- Perhaps the greatest CD of all time, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, was the second by the Black Crows and therefore set them with an insurmoutnable task of ever creating a better CD. Amorica was quite solid even if it was a bit too 'doctored' with all of the studio alterations. But after that, the Crows seem to settle into some kind of 'We paid our dues, now we can just sell plastic discs'.
WELL, brothers and sisters, the Black Crows are BACK!
Warpaint is phenomenal! It is what we want from the Crows,
Southern,
Soul,
Rock,
Roll!
Robinson has finally gotten back in touch with his inner Shaman, and he rattles the lyrics out with syncopated elegance like a rattle snake Rattle. The piano makes you feel that you are in an old saloon, and the percusion is SO FUL. The guitars are a bit toned down relative to other Crow's CDs, but HELL, its so FFF'n worth it that I dont think anyone will complain. I could go into what songs I think are the best (Movin on down the Line), but I wont try to preach to you about what you like best of the Crows.
Buy it! Its better than 3 snakes, Lion, Shake $, By Ur Side, AND Amorica!!!!!
Its alright Brothers, its alright Sisters
- I love Black Crowes and was waiting with great anticipation for This album. I try to love it....but I can't.
It's boring. I've got all their CD's. I just don't care for......and Warpaint is falling into that category.
I keep trying to like it, but I can't fool myself. I read some of these other reviews and make me wonder.
Ordinary album. All songs weak and bad. I am not remembering one song in album.Must be work for good works.
- I love the first two Black Crowes albums. I downloaded another one of theirs that was made around 2000, and it was total garbage. This album ranks in between the two extremes, albeit a lot closer to the first two albums. I was excited to read that Luther Dickinson was hired to replace Marc Ford, as I have always been a huge North Mississippi Allstars fan.
