- Loved the first album. Can't say the same about this album. Seemed more like a contractural aggreement than an actual effort. Kept hoping to find at least one song that would "grab me" on this album. Never found it. It is tolerable, nothing more, nothing less. This will become a dust collector in my collection.
- I'm very impressed with both albums from this band. Finally a rock band that does NOT sound like Nickelback.(I like Nickelback but I don't need 10 different other bands that sound just like them) This has a little southern flair without sounding country. Great solos, great changes, great rhythms. Overall I think these guys are better musicians than some of the other bands people want to compare them to. I can listen to both albums all the way through and enjoy every song.
PS: I originally stole this from the internet but it was good enough for me to later seek out and purchase. Why would I do that? Because I want the industry to know that I'll support them if they produce good music.
- BSC was one of the best bands to break out in '06 and their self titled debut album was easily one of the best of the year. It was no wonder that i was really looking forward to the new one. They are a killer band with absolutely talented musicians. Blind Man increased my expectations cos that's a great track. Now, the rest of the album.... is rather disappointing. I wasn't expecting the guys to re-invent the wheel with this one... just wanted and expected no holds barred straight up rock 'n roll. While there are maybe 3-4 tracks that serve that purpose, the rest of the album is pretty forgettable. Each to their own opinion. Some might like this one cos its got a broader appeal... dare i say slightly commercial. I think the first album was a great effort. This one... not so much. I still think the band is great and will look forward to stuff they put out in the future.
- This is a big miss for 2008. I was anticipating this album alot, problem is it's just plain boring. There is a couple rockers here but if you want a great album like their self-titled, you will be hugely let down.
- First let me say that if you liked the first album you will most likely like this one. Its a little less metal and more rock than the first but it has some great songs such as Blind Man, Long Sleeves, Ghost of Floyd Collins, and Peace is Free. There isn't really a bad track on the whole album.

- Great memories! A classical CD to go with my vinyl! Great delivery service also.
- I can't stop playing it. The memory of my teens years come back to me. That was a happy time and Otis was certainly a part of it. My friends and I danced and cried this this wonderful music.
- A very good CD, showing his great talent. Always wanted something by him & finally got it!
- There can be no doubt who the greatest singer of all time is: Otis Redding. While this compilation omits a lot of Otis' amazing songs (too many to put on a single CD) it serves as a fine introduction to the world's finest singer. Here is a man who sings with more soul than James Brown over music that is more earthy and organic than anything considered "urban" or "country" today.
He's side-by-side with Sam Cooke as one of the two most phenomenal voices ever to grace vinyl.
Otis is one of a kind. Listening to his 'sweet soul music' will elevate your life.
- The first question has to be "How have you gone so long without these tracks?" There are so many great numbers here that you will never regret having this for the c.d. player or edited down on your ipod. I keep the hits for a good workout on the 'pod for the gym.
One of my big regrets in life is not going to see Otis when he was passing through as the opening act for the Hollies a short while before he died. I was smart enough to pick up this cd, so I could have Otis to listen to when I needed him. Just go ahead and buy this. You get all the hits, plus a few extras to just make you realize what a musical treasure Otis Redding will always be.

- The Allman Brothers will receive Billboards Legends Of Live Award. This Award is Given for Contributions to Live performing. The Allman Brothers have gotten into Politics during the 2008 Presidential Race - Interestingly, In the 2008 Presidential Primary race, Hillary Clinton earned more Votes than any Presidential Primary candidate in the history of America (hillaryclintonforum, The Denver Group)
- The first time I heard this record back in 1971 when it was first released
my ears were opened. I was into the blues and was blown away with the duel lead guitars that Dickie Betts and Duane Allman played so well.
When I look back and evaluate who the great guitar players in Rock history are I have to include Duanne Allman among the very best.
It is as Eric Clapton once said "We were coming at the same thing from a different direction, I was bending strings and Duanne was playing slide.
Duanne Allman to this day is still possibly the best slide player I have ever heard. Ironically Derek Trucks is probably the best I have heard recently, ironically both from the Allman Brothers.
This Album is an abbreviated version of the classic live CD. If you want the entire CD you can get it now.
This version is missing One way out for instance and Mountain Jam and a few others. My advice is get the longer version and pay a few more dollars.
This CD does inclued Whipping Post, Stormy Monday, Statesboro Blues, Done somebody wrong, You dont love me, Hot 'Lanta and Momory of Elizabeth Reed.
You are in for some outstanding guitar. This is a classic any way you slice it..........................
- Wow, I have the task to try to convince you of the greatness of The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East. Many folks have already given great reviews of this album, so I'll try to give my take on this one.
First, some background. This album includes selections from two nights worth of performances at the "Fillmore East" music club in 1971 with the band's original lineup, including the incomparable Duane Allman on lead/slide guitar (he would die in a motorcycle accident later in the year). The band had recorded and produced two studio albums in their previous couple of years together, and this was their first live album. There is another version available of this album that has additional recordings from these concerts (simply called "At Fillmore East" by Amazon), but I personally don't have that album, so I'll let others discuss the virtues of it.
Now, onto the music. At face value, this album mixes a couple of their previous hits ("Whipping Post" and "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed"), some blues classics ("Statesboro Blues", "Done Somebody Wrong", "Stormy Monday", and "You Don't Love Me"), along with an original instrumental ("Hot 'Lanta"). The band mixes their own style of blues, Southern rock and even a bit of jazz, throws in the slide guitar and adds harmonica on one track, and uses their own improvisational skills to turn out a memorable performance that all of us who weren't in attendance (or in my case, not even born yet) are now fortunate enough to experience through the joy of this album.
I won't describe all of the tracks in great detail, but I'll cover my personal favorites. The album starts off with a jolt with an infectious and upbeat "Statesboro Blues", where Gregg Allman shines with his strong vocals. The album mellows out with the third track, "Stormy Monday". This song is even-keeled throughout, with an extended guitar solo backed up by solid bass, organ, and percussion, giving us a taste of what's to come. "You Don't Love Me" follows that with another catchy number for almost 7 minutes (with the aforementioned harmonica), when Duane starts taking over the song. Before too long, the other band members join in the fun. While this isn't my favorite track, it is fun to listen to the musicians go to work. For my money, the album climaxes with the sixth track, "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed". The song may be a touch over 13 minutes long, but it never seems to be that long when I listen to it as it never feels dull. The band takes a previously-recorded instrumental of theirs and nearly doubles the length with searing guitar sections (with some nice organ stretches thrown in), building to a crescendo around the 10 1/2 minute mark and again at the 12 minute mark. In general, I'm a big fan of rock instrumentals, and this may be my very favorite. The finale of the album is simply the longest song I (currently) have in my music collection. At just over 23 minutes, "Whipping Post" takes a trip starting with the familiar opening of the studio version of this song (in an unusual 11/8 meter for parts), goes through some nice guitar stretches, then nearly grinds to a halt after 10 minutes. It then goes through some "less organized" stretches where the musicians are able to add their own flavor to the song. It peaks near the 17 minute mark, where the conclusion of the studio version is inserted in this live version. From there the song slowly peters out. For me, this song does kind of drag in sections, as I feel about the middle stretch of "You Don't Love Me".
When you put it all together, you have one of the strongest live albums available, especially if you favor the blues/Southern rock style of The Allman Brothers Band. You get a good listen to the greatness and originality of the individual band members, especially Duane Allman. And yet, the sounds come together to form some fantastic music. You may argue whether you prefer some of the more improvisational stretches in the songs, but it's hard to argue the quality of the individual and collective performances that this band put together in those fateful concerts in 1971.
- I was very disappointed with this CD. It is not the album I remember. Some of the material has been left off to allow the double album set to fit onto one CD. Too bad.
- Allman Brothers at their peak, and by Allman Brothers I mean the original six cats that brought us this great music..Duane Allman was finger tapping while van halen was in diapers.. This whole cd is amazing from beginning to end..Duane pushing the whole band, them pushing back..showing their greatness track after track..Oh my I can't stress how important this is to have in your collection, not just for ABB fans but for anyone who is a fan of guitar, jazz, blues, rock, fusion and all inbetween. I will keep this short as others have already pretty much explained it, but to all.. REMEMBER DUANE ALLMAN

- I am glad I made this purchase. I really enjoy Marshall Tucker and the bonus is that this is a two CD set. Lots more songs to listen to!
- Agree with both the other reviews, but "Desert Skies" is the missing song that changed my mind. I will not be buying this either.
- An awesome collection and fine representation of Marshall Tucker. Those who have gone before us are still missed.
- In the 70's Southern Rock really begin to take shape. Living here in Nashville Charlie Daniels Band was the big thing with the Volunteer Jam. When Marshall Tucker Band came out with the first album with tracks like "Take The Highway" and "Can't You See" everyone I knew took notice and the rest is history and this double album covers it all just fine.
From the start thru the middle and up to now you get a complete musical journey of MTB. You get all their hits along with all the good stuff that didn't get the same airplay but still solid. Right off the bat on the first disc you're hit with "Take The Highway", "Can't You See", "24 Hours At A time" and "Fire On The Mountain". If there's one small "con" it would be lack of Live songs which was the trademark of MTB. Especially "24 Hours At A Time" with Charlie Daniels on fiddle. A extra bonus is the small booklet that's the cd cover as well. It has a history lessson on MTB from start to now. You get a insight behind the songs to who everyone is and lineup changes thru the years. Really good reading. A great collection of songs from a bunch of close friends out of a small South Carolina town.
- Anthologies and Hits collections are made for people who don't have all the classic albums by the artist in question. I for one don't care for This Old Cowboy and don't mind its exclusion from this set. But if I did love that song I would probably already own the album/cd it originally appeared on and wouldn't care if it was left off a new compilation. Do fans really think they should have any say in what goes on a compilation? Its a 30 year anthology, not a best of the 70s.

- Before I got Rock N Roll Jesus, the only Kid Rock song was "You never met m.f.." and of course "Picture". I hope you're into Country as this CD seems to be Kid Rock's slide into country. I'd say its 9 country out of 14 songs. thats cool for me cuz Rock N Roll Jesus is basically all heavy rock/country.
- This album has the chick song " Picture". I have seen hundreds of women singing the lyrics. I saw them live & the female drummer handled Sheryl Crow's part with ease.
You can see that Kid Rock is trying to mix it up a bit with Rap Rock & A little bit of country. Smart move.
- This was a gift for my daughter. But, I have my own copy. It is wonderful, maybe his best.
I'm a great-grandmother, but I do love Kid Rock.
grannysue
- Not sure what this type of music is called, it's not my usual preference, but the beautiful song Lonely Road of Faith won me over, so I bought the CD. There are a few others I like and those I don't, I can skip
- This CD I've wanted for awhile, but around the small town I love in, they never had it. This is one of his best CD's !!! I suggest it to anyone...

5 comments about Eliminator (Collector's Edition) (CD/DVD).
- ZZ Top's 1983 MTV classic 'Eliminator' brought a change of scenary for the band. Gone are the days of the "Texas tornado blues effect." This album is driven by the synthesizer work of Dusty Hill, who plays the synthsizers (uncredited), and does a pretty good job with it too.
After hearing 1981's 'El Loco,' I kind of figured ZZ Top was heading this way. And that's not a bad thing, either. While this isn't one of my all time favorite albums from them, it's still pretty awesome.
While I loved 'Sharp Dressed Man' and Hill's funky bass playing on 'Thug,' the real highlight to me on this album is 'I Need You Tonight,' a bluesy jam with no synths and no drum machines. Just Gibbons, Hill and Beard jamming. It could have easily been a hit on the 'Deguello' or 'Tejas' record.
'Legs' was a crucial MTV hit for the band; the video was extremely popular. 'Gimme All Your Lovin' was also a big single for the band, and achieved commercial success.
Another one of my all time favorite ZZ Top songs is 'Got Me Under Pressure.' It's one of their best songs, and definitely the second best song here (besides 'I Need You Tonight').
While I'll be the first to tell you that if I had the choice between 1981-1990 ZZ Top or the 1971-1980 ZZ Top, I pick '71-'80 every time. But, I really do enjoy 'Eliminator,' and it's much better than 'Afterburner' and 'Recycler.'
Now that I've talked about the album, let's move forward into the remastering and the "collector's edition" bonus disc:
-The sound quality is superb! Compare this to the original '90s Warner Bros. CD edition of this and you'll be stunned. There is no comparison, this is hands down the version to own.
-The DVD is awesome! Great music videos, although why is 'Tube Snake Boogie' on 'Eliminator' even though that appeared on 'El Loco'? I do question Warner Bros. move to include that here. It's almost like adding 'Sharp Dressed Man' as a bonus track on 'ZZ Top's First Album' from 1971.
Now, here are a couple of side comments that do not relate to the album or reissue, but are questions that I would like to know?
It's nice to see Warner Bros. reissuing the 1983 classic 'Eliminator,' but where the heck are the reissued versions of 'Tejas' and 'El Loco,' from 1976 and 1981, respectively? If you are gonna remaster 'Eliminator,' at least remaster those! Unlike some ZZ Top fans, the drum machines/filtered drums don't bother me, but since 'Eliminator,' 'Fandango!,' 'Rio Grande Mud,' 'ZZ Top's First Album' and 'Tres Hombres' have been remastered, why not reissue the other two albums? It's only logical!
Overall, if you don't own 'Eliminator' and you want to get it, hands down, buy the collector's edition. The bonus DVD and the exceptional remastering job make it worth the entire price of admission.
Highly recommended for any ZZ Top fan. The music is five stars, and so is the music. ZZ Top are the greatest band to come out of Texas, and anything less than five stars is criminal in my books. Closing statement: REISSUE 'EL LOCO' AND 'TEJAS' ALREADY!!!
ENJOY!!!
- This review is only for the original album since I don't care much about bonus tracks or DVDs, but since you brought it up, I will say that the "bonus" live tracks on disc 1 sound homemade. I can't believe they were included.
Anyway, back to the main course: The original CD release, and even the Eliminator material in the gorgeous box set a few years ago, just never did anything for me sound wise. Sure, it's great rock 'n' roll, but the digital mastering didn't do it justice. This remastering changes that. The music comes to life with punch, presence, and transparency - and it was done with no noticeable compression. They even resisted the urge to master it too loudly. This is a remaster that both the average CD buyer and the audiophile will be VERY happy with.
- Released on LP and Cassette in March 1983 on Warner Brothers, the blues boogie of "Eliminator" was an absolute phenomenon for the Texas trio ZZ Top.
They'd been bubbling under for years - "La Grange" in 1973, "Tush" in 1975 - and a minor hit with "I Thank You" in 1980. But none of it even remotely indicated what would happen in 1983 and 1984. "Eliminator" - one of the best boogie albums ever made - changed everything for them and us - it was little short of absolute global domination.
It was a combination of things - the umpteen tracks that were all single/radio friendly hits, the emergence of rotation MTV, the videos with leggy sexy babes - the fabulous 1956 coupe car - the ZZ TOP keyring flying through the air to the hapless buck trying to be a 'sharp dressed man' - the image of dusty dudes with beards - all of it combined in one heady mix to produce domestic sales in the USA topping 10 million with the same number estimated for the rest of the world. And if you take into account second-hand sales since that heady time 25 years ago and an early issue on CD, you're looking at a "Rumours", a "Purple Rain" and a "Thriller". This September 2008 (delayed release) has it good points and bad though...
Here's the layout first:
Disc 1 (78:27 minutes)
Tracks 1 to 11 are the album REMASTERED in its entirety with the original lengthier mix of "Legs" at 4:34 minutes re-instated for the first time (it was replaced after initial pressings by the shorter single mix of 3:37 minutes)
Tracks 12 to 18 are bonus tracks; 12 is the single mix of "Legs"; 13 to 17 are 5 previously unreleased live tracks (13, 14, 16 and 17 recorded at Castle Donington Festival in Leicestershire in England, while 15 was recorded at The Marquee Club in London - no dates supplied)
Track 18 is the 12" "Dance Mix" of "Legs"
The remastering of the album is FANTASTIC - muscular, in your living room, detailed - all that it should have been these last two and half decades. I've waited years to hear "I Need You Tonight" in this sound quality and it was worth it. But the really bad news is the audio bonus tracks, which are a huge letdown. The live versions have what is laughably called `audio restoration' on them - they sound like rubbish bootleg recordings - someone standing in a field with a microphone held up (Donnington was exactly that - a vast field). The truly awful extended mix of "Legs" was on the box set anyway - unlistenable then and the same now. Worse - there are single edits of "Gimme All Your Lovin" and "Sharp Dressed Man", but maddeningly they're not included here - they should have been - it would have been far more appropriate to a supposed `collector's edition'. Also there's nothing new worth hearing - no outtakes, alternatives, no demos, no new songs - nothing. Really disappointing stuff I'm afraid. The album is great, but the supposed bonuses are awful.
Things fare better on the 2nd disc, an 8-track DVD. First up are the 4 famous videos that broke the album with a worldwide TV audience and their inclusion on this `special edition' is only right and proper - they were such an integral part of the "Eliminator" experience. The prints are clean, but unfortunately blurry in that cheap 1980s kind of a way. They're fun to re-watch, but not much more than that. Things get considerably better with tracks 5 to 8, which are professionally filmed studio performances. They were recorded live in front of a studio audience on 17 November 1983 for one the UK's popular pop programs of the time - "The Tube". The sound and visuals are great and while the vocals are live, I'm fairly sure some tweaking has been done to beef up the sound. Whatever way you look at it - this is primo ZZ TOP and makes up somewhat for the disappointing crap that is tail-ending the Audio CD. Fans will really enjoy these.
The packaging isn't great either - a gatefold digipak with a 20-page booklet. The layers under the see-through trays have no photos of singles - outtakes - they're blank - pretty crappy really. The car's pictured a couple of times, lyrics reproduced, a basic essay on the album - but no real event feel to it - no live shots - no interesting formats pictured - fan stuff left out - it's basic really, when it could have been so much better.
In truth, you'd have to say that if Rhino had just issued the remaster of the album with the single edits and the 12" mix added on at the end - then that would have been so much better. As it is, you're being asked to spend £13 to £16 on a package that smacks of laziness and greed - and worse - leaves you with a bad taste in the mouth - an underwhelming experience that should have been a real celebration of a really great album...
To sum up - fantastic remaster of the album, good stuff on the DVD, but docked a star for the rubbish filler at the end of Disc 1.
- I loved ZZ Top before this album came out in 1983 and the music here only made me love the band more. The music is wonderful (Sharp Dressed Man, Gimme All Your Lovin', Got Me Under Pressure, Legs, I Need You Tonight, TV Dinners etc.). The band rips, Billy Gibbons in particular. The sound on this release is great.
I remember watching this videos back then and seeing them again makes me smile. Classic videos, which if you were alive and watching any type of video music back then you saw over and over. I enjoyed watching the videos again this evening. A guilty pleasure if you know what I mean.
The car is in the rock and roll hall of fame, the record sold over 10 million copies and the videos won awards. How many releases have that kind of effect?
The concert footage is fun to watch as well. If you don't own this, or are a big fan of this CD or the band - you should seriously consider purchasing this.
- i love zz top - hey, i grew up with their videos - but i'm sorry, there's no way i'm going to buy this edition of the cd at $19.99. yes, it's got a handful of videos on it - but big deal, i recorded those videos off of the tv years ago. even the live performances off 'the tube' (a british tv program in the 1980's) are so special - i recorded a couple of those (but the others weren't broadcast). is that all they've got left in the zz top archives ? i mean, come on - the album paid for itself years ago (when i bought it) so why the high price ?
i guess at least the record company had the decency to wait nearly 20 years to come out with the expanded edition to entice you to buy it again. do you just hate it these days, when a cd is re-released with a couple of extra tracks about 6 months after it first hit the shops ? no wonder cd sales have tanked !

- This CD is the best. I am definately a fan of Kid Rock's softer side.....
- Kid Rock just keeps getting better with time! This collection covers his wide range of talent and is not a CD that you will get tired of listening to. I bought the clean version not the explicit language version.
- Good cd, glad I bought it, not like some only one or two songs are worth listening to, Iam not crazy with his slow stuff, but the rest of it is good.

- This album is outstanding - from the first song to the last. JJ Grey & Mofro just keep getting better. The horns are awesome and the music just makes you want to move - just awesome.
- I started out listening to this band with the purchase of their album Lochloosa.Totally blown away by the sound and soul of these guys.Think of sitting around on the weekend having a few drinks with friends and totally enjoying the atmosphere with this band playing in the backround or foreground, whatever floats your boat, and you have the makings of the perfect evening. They know how to touch on every day life with their lyrics and music.I have purchased Country Ghetto and Blackwater their debut album as well as this one and have yet to be disappointed.Rock on JJ and the gang and keep up that great music.By the way Amazon, thanks for making the albums available down here in OZ as not many retailers know about JJ Grey and Mofro downunder.
- In Mofro's previous three albums (Blackwater, Lochloosa, Country Ghetto) the songs have been a soulful gumbo of blues, funk, rock, and gospel. Slow rollers, mid-tempo groovers, juke house rockers, and soul-baring gospel (some of my favorites). Most songs represent poignant reflections of southern living, whose lyrics often transcend the normal bounds for blues ballads. Some of the best songs of the decade in my opinion. Their simplicity (in instrumentation, arrangement, and emotive delivery) is the key to their resonance with listeners.
Although Orange Blossoms includes some beautifully polished soul recordings, tight musicianship, and JJ's gutsy vocals, Mofro seems to have strayed from a winning formula a bit. Daryl Hance's slide guitar, always subtle, is mostly lost behind the horns and strings. The mid-tempo groovers dominate the record, making many of the songs sound basically the same (Devil You Know, WYLF, On Fire, Higher You Climb). The tempo goes from slow to slower on She Don't Know, The Truth, and Dew Drops. The more upbeat Ybor City is a straight-ahead blues shuffle that lacks the edge that usually makes Mofro stand out. Funky, yes. Dynamic, not so much. The lyrics just don't seem to resonate quite as well as in previous records, and the subject matter is much more typical of the genre (girls, relationships, etc.).
If you're a Mofro fan you'll still really like Orange Blossoms. It's just a little more over-produced than you're used to. If you're just getting to know these guys, check out Country Ghetto or Lochloosa first. I hope JJ and Mofro get a little more back to basics on their next release.
- MY SON IS THE ONE THAT TURNED ME ON TO MOFRO ....
I LISTEN TO WHAT IS IN THE CD PLAYER IN MY CAR OR AT HOME AND THERE WAS
ALWAYS BLACK WATER PLAYING . I BELIEVE THIS IS THIER THIRD CD AND I LIKE
THIS ONE THE MOST , JJ GREY HAS SUCH A SOULFUL VOICE AND THE GUITAR RIFTS
ARE SO WONDERFUL . I LIKE THIS CD BECAUSE ITS MORE PERSONAL ABOUT
LOVE AND LIFE ... I THINK HE MUST HAVE A MUSE .... USUALLY ITS ABOUT HOME
AND FLORDIA AND GRANDMAS COOKING .. THIS IS ABOUT A GIRL .......
- This album is by far the best to date by Mofro. It ranges from a raw 60's sound to a southern rock to almost a gospel feel. All in all this is a great album for anyone.

- This Tony guy cracks me up. In his review he writes:
>>Long Line of Losers - Solid straightforward country song from Eddie. I have a feeling this could see the same massive success on radio as "Lucky Man."<<
Dude, Eddie didn't write that song. That's a Kevin Fowler song that MG decided to hack away at and totally ruin.
Check out Kevin's version and throw rocks at your MG CDc. Besides, they kill little bears that are locked in cages.
- I love this CD! I am so excited about this album because it sounds like they went back to their roots. A lot of the songs sound like their earlier work...which I believe was better than the last two albums they've produced. I'm very glad that I bought this cd and I can't wait for a new one to come along! This cd has a great mix of emotion and talent!
- Montgomery Gentry are one of the few duals out there that still sing "true" Country Music. Their music tells a story. Sometimes it makes you laugh, sometimes it makes you stop and look at your own life situations, but it all gives you a great feeling when you listen to it. This is absolutely one of my favorite CDs in my huge collection of country music! A must have!!!

- I think that 3 Doors Down has to be one of the best Rock bands in recent years. They did the impossible with this album, made it better than the original. If you are a fan of 3 Doors Down and the album "The Better Life", then you will love this. "Away From the Sun" is the perfect album. Any song on this record are good enough to be a single. I don't dance, but man did I feel like dancing while listening to this! I couldn't help but move when I listen. If you are a fan, you will think this album rocks! And you will be correct.
- Definitely 3 Doors Down's best album. Every song is good on here, and most of them really rock. It's a shame that they don't try to push their boundaries, though, because they could be so much more than an average, super-popular pop/rock band.
- If you like 3 Doors down, you'll love it, if you dont, you'll hate it. It's my favorite album of theirs though.
- this cd was ok. i'm more into harder rock but i'm still happy w/ this purchase.
- Honestly, before 3 Doors Down, I was never really into this type of music all that much, but the first CD i heard from them Was Away From the Sun, and even since I've not only been hooked on them, but I've explored other similar artists and found I like what I hear as I get older. This should attest to the effectiveness of this CD!
People argue that The Better Life was their best work, but I'd definitely have to say that Away From The Sun easily takes that title. This is one of those CDs where I don't have to skip a single track, automatically making it a classic as far as I'm concerned.
With hard hitting tracks like "Sarah Yelling", "Dangerous Game", "Going Down In Flames", "This Time", and "When I'm Gone" you cant help but be affected by the raw energy these guys bring on this album. The more somber songs on here are no less then great as well, like "Here Without You", "Changes" and "I Feel You". The weakest track on here would definitely be "Ticket To Heaven", but its still good, its just more pop/rock-ish then I like for my tastes.
Its worth the buy, grab it if you can, you wont be disappointed. 3 Doors Down in general is awsome, but this is probably their best work to date.
