- first off this cd is missing lots of songs like, rock n roll all nite, black magic woman, takin care of buissness, aqualung, do you feel like we do, surrender, crocodile rock more than a feeling... the list goes on... so really buy this and some other complimation rock CDS and youll have all the essential ones but also buy the albums... pointless too really make another rock cd complimation songs already about a few hundred on amazon alone...
- For any lover of classic rock and roll, this is a must-add to your collection. You could easily spend $200 to collect all of the songs included on this 2-disk set.
Great listening for when you went to crank up the tunes, roll down the window, and forget your worries for awhile!
- alright first off all these bands are good and this cd is good for someone who wants a lot of classic rock songs but on the other hand stay away from this one okay for one thing it shoulda been 3 cds because this is not comeplete alright where the hell is BOSTONS MORE THAN A FEELING and its missing so many bands that ruled the air waves in the 70s kiss, pink floyd etc. okay why the hell is ROCK AND ROLL ALL NITE NOT ON HERE THATS BS and another thing why is kiss dissed so much all the time anyways this is a very cheesy album and its not even complete i say stay away from most of these albums and just download the songs off amazon for only 89 cents,
ROCK WILL NEVER DIE
- This is the music that I listened to during the college years of the mid 70's. I still enjoy this sound better than most I hear today. This collection is what you expect with one classic tune after another by some of the best groups of the 70's.
- Wow, all I can say is 'WOW'. This is a fantastic collection. This is what I grew up on and every song brings back memories of a particular time or place in my childhood. I've been buying various 'hits' compilations and many of them are remakes. So you start to listen and think, yea this is it, only to hear the voice that doesn't match your memories. Not so here, this collection is made up of all original recordings so your memories will be intact. Of the collections I've purchsed, it's the best. It can't match new music fidelity, but hey, neither did it in the 60's and 70's.
If you were born in 1958 like me, this will be a golden collection. I just wish it was a series and there were more sets like this one.

- This album is the s**t !!! Makes ya feel all warm and groovy, and wanna git up and DANCE !!! Recommend highly.
- If you are a true fan of Memphis soul music and especially a fan of the Stax label, this is a must
have. The CD has all the songs that received "air-play"
during Sam and Dave's heydey and some that I had never heard but are testaments to the Stax sound and production values. Listen to "Goodnight Baby". I'm a hardcore OG but
the song gives me chills!
- I would love to review the item I ordered, but I never received it, and I have never received a refund!
- It's clearly an older disc, and it sounds like they dubbed it straight from the reel. I love that warm sound, especially with music like this.
- The world of show business is not a place where shrinking violets bloom. On the contrary, it is known for bombast, opportunism, and egos larger and more gaseous than zeppelins.
Consequently it is rare indeed to find an act featuring two prodigious talents who have chosen to share billing equally. This extraordinary gesture of selflessness is indicated by the word - AND - which links the two names.
A small handful of examples comes to mind where two geniuses are paired. The Captain And Tennille, of course, The Fluorescent Leech And Eddie, and the late lamented duo, Wayland Flowers And Madame who, tragically, died simultaneously.
Add to this distinguished list the names, Sam And Dave. These powerhouse singers, who secured their place in history with a few hits covered by shabby second-stringers, simply define everything that is good about R&B. In fact, if you were beginning an R&B collection, this outstanding CD would be an excellent place to start.
You'll find barnburners like Soul Man and I Thank You, among many others, but you may be surprised how these guys work a ballad. The Best Of Sam AND Dave delivers the goods; and so much more.

- Little Feat is and has always been what it is - I'm not an over-the-top fan, but the song Gringo - Bill Payne - is one of the best in RnR history. Multi-everything, one of the best of the best all time...
Paul
- This album and the motivation behind it really needs to be framed in the context of Feat keyboardist Bill Payne in the liner notes to the "Hotcakes & Outtakes" box set: "My first thought (after Lowell George's death) - other than anger, then sadness - was 'Did he cover his kids, insurancewise?' I called up the accountants and asked them, and they said he didn't. So, I called up Ronstadt and a couple of other people, and we put together a benefit and memorial to Lowell - a tribute." That's what also lies at the heart of Hoy! Hoy!...it was a way to help Lowell's family financially, to bring a sense of closure and healing for the band, and...by releasing it commercially...involving Little Feat's loyal fans in the process. It's not a linear, logical, chronological "Best Of Little Feat" album, and it wasn't intended as one. Rather, it's a mix of odds 'n' sods from the archives, favorite tracks selected by the band, and "All That You Dream" (with Ronstadt and the late Nicolette Larson) from the aforementioned Lowell tribute concert. The booklet faithfully reproduces all of the photos and liner notes and anecdotes from the original vinyl release, which is a good thing, because they are essential...especially Bonnie Raitt's heartbreaking and heartfelt "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being eight years old." Just like the legendary New Orleans jazz funerals, the surviving members of Little Feat...instead of succumbing to depression over the loss of their friend and bandmate...put together a loving, diverse, and incredibly entertaining 2 record (now single CD) set.
- Little Feat was one of those bands I got into during high school (mid-80's) after their heyday had come and gone. I had read a review in Rolling Stone's "All Music Guide" stating that Little Feat was "one of the best-loved American bands from the seventies." And here I was, a big fan of seventies music, and I had never heard of them. For better or worse, that reader's guide was my bible, so I thought I'd give the band a try and pick up a greatest hits of some sort and give it a try.
The first thing that drew me to "Hoy Hoy" was the cover art -- almost all of the 70's, 80's and 90's Little Feat albums have great artwork done by the late Neon Park (aka Martin Muller). A german shepard with a Hawaiian lei and antlers watching a bone with pink bird wings fly away while sitting in front of a smoking volcano. I liked it. RIP Neon Park. I found the music equally appealing. Here you're getting a mix of album cuts and live versions of the music. The live version of "Rock and Roll Doctor" is one of the best tracks on the album. You also get a little Lowell George gem by name of "China White." These two songs are worth the price of the album alone. But it doesn't stop there. In addition to several other George contributions, you also get several Bill Payne and Paul Barrere contributions that are just as worthy. After getting this album, I had to get my hands on the rest of the band's material -- I didn't want to miss the other gems that didn't make this album. If you've never heard of Little Feat before, it's hard to peg them in any sort of musical genre. You get elements of Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz, and Funk. Every album relased was both visually and aurally appealing. Of course, Lowell George is no longer with us, his legacy lives on with this collection. Little Feat as a band continues to play as well. As far as I'm concerned, the "Rolling Stone Reader's Guide" was correct -- I love this band. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
- What a compilation. White-boy boogie blues with a funky swagger. For those of you being introduced to the Feat, this is the place to start. From here you will want to go through their entire catalogue with Lowell George singing (Rock/blues lost a treasure when he passed on...)Don't bother with the stuff put out after his departure. This compilation has a few live songs, outtake versions of original album songs, and other odds and sods. Rock in Roll Doctor,Skin it Back,Easy to Slip,Red Steamliner,Lonesome Whistle,Gringo,Over the Edge,Two Trains are essential Feat. Best of...compilation...whatever you call it, 'Hoy Hoy' is great music.
- This is one great collection. Almost a story or scrapbook of sorts of that wild 70s outfit, Little Feat. Hear two versions of "Teenage Nervous Breakdown" side by side! Hear unreleased gems ("Framed" and "Gringo")! Hear a New Orleansified "Rock And Roll Doctor!" Hear a touching tribute to Lowell George by Linda Rondstadt! Marvel at the chilling "China White!" And Roll on Through the Night while it ends... A must have!

- AMAZON is a great place to find old music and Molly Hatchet is great Southern Rock. I've owned this Album as a Record and a Tape and now on CD. Remeber if AMAZON doesn't have it in stock they will find a place you can buy it at in most cases.
- I had an 8-track of this album back in 1979. It was a great cruising tape in a Trans Am. Love the guitars.
- Those who read my other reviews may note that I haven't gotten into Southern rock. I suppose it's because number one, the Allman Brothers put me to sleep (with the exception of "Dreams") and Lynyrd Skynrd are too overplayed. I don't care if I NEVER hear "Sweet Home Alabama" again.
Southern rock has always tread on the boundary with country, which gives most of it the swing that defines it. We hear a healthy dose of blues and (usually) anthems of boozing, womanizing and basically kicking somebody's ass.
What sets the original Molly Hatchet apart from the rest is their heavy sound. Three guitars up front, triple leads, wicked slide and a boozy vocalist combine for the hardest of all Southern rock albums, "Flirting With Disaster."
Led by guitarist Dave Hlubek, this rowdy bunch swings and has a great time throughout. It's like having a good time at a bar but hoping you don't piss these guys off because they won't hesitate to mop up the floor with you, especially Duane Roland, he of the muttonchops and shades. This is a band that would intimidate the Hells Angels.
Still, it's a friendly outing. "One Man's Pleasure" bumps headlong into country territory and then obliterates it with scorching lead breaks and the wickedest slide you'll hear this side of Oz. "Jukin' City" is a nod to the Allman Brothers, and the title track reigns supreme as the best Southern rock song of all time (second place goes to "Train, Train" from Blackfoot.)
It moves quick and stays heavy enough to satisfy metalheads as well as good ol' boys. Plus, there are four additional tracks, three live, including a great reading of "Crossroad Blues."
Molly Hatchet exists today with no original band members, relegating them basically as a cover band. If you want the classic triple threat lineup of Hlubeck, Roland and Steve Holland, not to mention the unmistakable voice of Danny Joe Brown, get the debut "Molly Hatchet" and this one. And set your cruise control if you listen in the truck unless you want a speeding ticket.
- I dont know how people can say this is just like Skynryd. Skynryd has sappy, over done ballads.Hatchet just purely rocks out with amazing guitars. Im happy that I bought this cd because I loved the song Flirtin with Disaster, and wanted to check this band out more. The cd is well worth the price, and Boogie No More is one of the greatest rock songs ive ever heard. The guitar solo in the middle will have your hand banging, guranteed. I dont know to much of this band, but they deserve more credit then they get.
- FLIRTIN' WITH DISASTER, one of Molly Hatchet's best studio albums, has been remastered and improved with bonus cuts. The remastering is thick and warm, and only adds to the intensity of the songs. The fact that past and present surviving members currently advocate sanctions against countries which falsely convict foreign visitors, increased funding for law enforcement, and capital punishment/life without parole for aggravated kidnapping makes this CD essential for both your ears AND your conscience.

- If you've heard at least three CCR songs in your lifetime and enjoyed them, guess what? You WILL find a lot to like about Green River. It's an entire albums worth of that same raw bluesy sound and style. It's just a great album if you like that sound, and nothing more really needs to be said, so please, pick it up as soon as you possibly can and experience just one of many reasons why the classic rock of the 60's and 70's deserves to be loved and remembered forever (oh, and sorry for sounding like a classic rock fanboy).
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RUJD3FD64FBL3 I can't add anything to the 5 star reviews except to demo how good "Bad Moon Rising" is for JumpRock. I wish I could give it an 8 to offset the three 4 star reviews, none of which give a reason for the downgrade. It's not that I'm obsessive, it's just that I care about justice so very, very, very much - especially for millionare (I assume) rock and rollers like CCR - and good on 'em.
- This was CCR's third album. There were two singles released from it. The a-sides ("Green River" and "Bad Moon Rising") each reached #2 on the Hot 100, while the b-sides ("Commotion" and "Lodi") topped out at #30 and #52, respectively. These are great songs that many people are familiar with, but there are five other very good songs on the album. John Fogerty wrote all the songs, with the exception of the closing cover of the Ray Charles song "The Night Time is the Right Time". This is arguably CCR's first "great" album.
- I was really excited about CCR in SACD. Knew it was stereo, but was still expecting clear imaging. Previous reviews had bombed both Green River and Bayou Country. Like you, I try to determine who knows what they're talking about. Bad news is the worst critics were right. I've listened to better sound from the Red Book Box set. I'm still planning to get Cosmo's as others say that has a better sound...I hope so!!! Come on!!!
Trust me, I own over 75 SACDs/DVDAs. Is it Steve Hoffman or soemthing happening afterwards? It's not my system.
- I was 13 when I got this album for Christmas. One of my faves(along with the other 1st 5 CCR discs)Ive gone thru a couple of albums and 2 differant FantasyCds.Missed out on the DCCs(DID manage a Bayou, and Cosmos from them tho---great sound)Everyone who reads a reveiw of this disc no doubt knows how great it is.I want to let everyone in on the secret of the sound quality of these discs(The whole CCR hybrid sacd series). There is no comparison.Upper and lower range are extended beyond belief.Separation is goosebump time.If you love this album, and appreciate great sound as well, you MUST try any of these SACDs,masterd by SteveHoffman, the guy who did the DCCs as well. They will bring tears to yer eyes.Happy Listening indeed!!!!!

- This is a great play. The songs are original and fun. Great beat to all the music makes you want to play it all the time. Country rock? Rockabilly? Not sure. But this is good stuff. A must for any record collection.
- There needs to be more music like THIS at dance clubs and honky-tonks. Southern Culture on the Skids is some classic country-rockabilly with a modern edge. The music may sound like it could be duplicated on your back porch, but it is also very contemporary and fresh and witty and worth at least a head-nod or some toe-tap, evne if you're dead. I prefer a real country strut with my honey on my arm during this whole album, maybe a little Presley imitation thrown in now and then (and I'm talking old school King, when he could still do some hardcore pelvis shots and sway his knees about). I'm a fan of isolated tracks on other albums (40 Miles to Vegas is just impossible to keep your foot on the floor to), but this one keeps me jiggling the whole way through.
I first heard from this album when a local radio show would play "Camel Walk" almost to death, but still every time I'd crank up the volume and rock along. The song is astoundingly swinging and funny and a little bit scary--S & M involving oatmeal snack pies? To this day, if something catches me by surprise, I'll call out, "Little Debbie, Little Debbie! I'ma comin' on home, baby!" This song is a little more methodical than tracks like "Nitty Gritty" and "Greenback Fly," which just makes you want to be Johnny Depp in _Cry Baby_ all over again. And songs like "Galley Slave" and "Skullbucket" will bring you back to those great instrumentals like "Pipeline" and "Jack the Ripper."
It is hard to avoid making comparisons with the Reverend Horton Heat when talking about Southern Culture, mainly because they both run the same fine line between making fun of rockabilly while also deeply praising it. If psychobilly is the new moniker for modern rockabilly, then let this band sit on the throne with the Rev and hold sway over all that is good and true and makes you rock your bones just one more time.
- All the songs on this album are good, definently worth buying. My husband and I have enjoyed everything we've heard from this band.
- The first I heard of this group was, naturally, on the radio. The song "Soul City" (which none of the other "reviewers" mentioned)was occasionally being played on the radio, I believe, around the time Happy Gilmore came out. Coincidence? Not too many songs I hear on the radio DRIVE me to go ASAP to the store to get. I can't describe it's noise, but it affected me the same way Home Fries did. The movie? I was surprised of no soundtrack. I had to rent the movie to find Reverend Horton Heat's name. Then I had the unexpected ephiphany that maybe I was addicted to this strange, but not new genre, Rockabilly.
- I own every SCOTS CD they've put out. These guys are the
real deal Psychobillies. No poseurs, when they sing about fried
chicken, they're reallly singing about fried chicken. When was the last time you heard a CD that was just plain fun to
listen to?
This particular CD has been out for quite a while, but it's
worth tracking down. An excellent place to begin for those
unfamiliar with them. Best listened to with a bucket of
Col. Sanders, NASCAR on the TV, a bottle of supermarket scotch
on the TV tray and all your neighbors at the trailer park makin' that old doublewide rock...

5 comments about Afterburner.
- Of course the music is great. The CD itself was in great shape as was the packaging. I would order from this supplier again.
- ...And with this, one of my favorite groups, left me behind, abandoned, without a hope of ever hearing good ol' blues-rock ever again. Certainly, I'm exaggerating, well, sort of. The Top's ninth studio album peaked at #4, the highest chart position for any & all their albums to this date. It charted higher than Tres Hombres, Deguello & Eliminator. Is Afterburner a better album than those three? Simply, no. Afterburner doesn't compare to those three albums. Top was going commercial (gasp! not that l'il ol' band from Texas!), they incorporated synthesizers, dance rhythms & straight ahead drum beats soaked in reverb. Basically, what happened here was the 'follow-up effect', Afterburner was released after Eliminator, one of their best albums if not THE best, & was able to capitalize on the previous album's success. Nothing wrong with that but they were veering, somewhat, into club & dance music & this just doesn't fit into the Top's brand of music (okay, my concept of Z Z Top).
After saying all that, Afterburner isn't a bad album but it isn't a good album either. The most amazing thing about the album is that it had seven songs (it had a total of 10) that managed to get on some form of a chart. That's amazing! Simple math reveals that to be 70%! If a baseball player could bat that you know he would end up going to Cooperstown. "Can't Stop Rockin'" (#8 Mainstream Rock), "Sleeping Bag" (#1 Mainstream Rock, #8 Hot 100, #41 Club Play), "Stages" (#1 Mainstream Rock, #21 Hot 100), "Delirious" (#16 Mainstream Rock), "Rough Boy" (#5 Mainstream Rock, #22 Hot 100), "Velcro Fly" (#43 Club Play, #15 Mainstream Rock, #35 Hot 100) & "Woke Up With Wood" (#18 Mainstream Rock). This certainly makes Afterburner a popular album but doesn't make it a good album. The only catch to all this has to do with all the charts that these songs charted on, they were 'specialty charts', not the Pop Singles chart which is more indicative of the overall performance of the songs.
That leaves three songs, "Planet of Women", "I Got the Message" & "Dipping Low (in the Lap of Luxury)". These are all substandard songs for the Top as are "Delirious" & Woke Up With Wood". The rest of the songs are good but nothing is outstanding. Lyrically, the album is typical, they are many double entendres & boogie humor. Don't get me wrong, I've been a big fan of the Top for years & there's nothing wrong with making a buck but, honestly, they sold out with this album. They lost me as a fan & a buying customer, no big deal, for every fan they lost, they probably got two new ones in return. But then, when we look back on Eliminator, we can see the sellout began then, the signs were there hinting at what direction they were going. The big difference was Eliminator still rocked & it didn't seem, at least to this reviewer, that they were compromising their music so much.
- This is the only album I own that I actually listen to all 10 tracks. Its very rare when I like more than 4-5 songs on an album. Eliminator had one dud (Thug). The energy is strong throughout. I like the synthesizer sound that bands were using in this era. Afterburner was also one of my favorite album cover designs. Recycler was also a great album cover design too.
November 1985 Chicago airwaves were flooded with stations playing cuts off of Afterburner. It was really popular and got tons of airplay. On February 26, 1986 I saw ZZ TOP live for the first time. The show was great but the wait in the parking lot to leave was longer than the concert. And it was like 12 below zero out that night.
I bought the original LP on Nov 1, 1985, made a tape of it and have been rocking ever since. I finally bought the Eliminator/Afterburner CD's in 2005 when I bought a new car that was equipped with a CD player...............and tonight, I Woke Up With Wood
- I rated this a 4 because the CD,to me, is above average compared to **all** rock CDs made. However,I agree with the low raters that it is below average when compared to ZZ Top's other material. (If you hate synthesizers avoid it. :) )
- Very Good. Good price, and product arrived in excellent condition.
Very good ZZ Top clstyle of music. Would recommend to all ZZ Top fans.

- This is a great 2 CD set if your a gospel music fan and a must have if you're and Elvis fan.
- I bought this 2 CD set for my beloved because he had lost his CD. I listen to these myself and these 50 Christian songs have become a tremendous blessing to me, in fact I intend to buy a copy for myself as well. There are songs on these 2 CDs that fit every situation that person goes through in life. One of the most amazing things about it is that as you listen to these songs it gives you a glimpse into the spiritual life of Elvis in spite of the tremendous temptations he went through in his life. His early introduction to Jesus in his childhood influenced him his entire life. He never lost his love for Jesus nor the Christian hymns that touched his spiritual life. It is obvious that these songs had meaning for him and the other performers and that they enjoyed the experience of recording them. Surely these songs he recorded were a blessing to him in his final days on this earth.
- This is a great selection and is very well done. I highly recommend it.
JIm Mixon
- I bought this album for a friend for Christmas because I have one myself and I love it so much. It is my favorite Elvis Presley album. He had such a beautiful voice and sang all the hymns with his whole heart. How Great Thou Art is the most powerful hymn ever written. Anyone who loves Gospel music should purchase this album.
- The double plastic CD case was cracked when it arrived. I did not know it until I had already opened the package. It had a cardboard sleeve over the double case which prevented me from seeing the crack. Is there any recourse now?

- The perfect mix of rock and country music, makes the old Clearance Clearwater better than the soft Beatles, even though the clearances don't have any stones rolling.
- Great value. If you are into the 60s' and 70s' you will love this one.
- My advice? Don't waste your time spending big bucks on the SACD version of this great CCR classic. I've listened to it alongside the 20bit K2 mastered version and I actually prefer the K2 version. I've got a lot of SACD's and played both on my Sony SACD player. I can't see the purpose of this realease at all. If it comes down to money I think you will be more than happy with the K2 release. Also, the SACD is not a multi-channel release so you won't find anything new with this mix. Overall as any familar with CCR knows, this is a solid gold 5 star classic. So, any fan of great rock and roll needs to own it. Just don't waste your money on this hybrid SACD release.
- Yes, this IS the album with Fortunate Son, CCR's signature tune, on it. Yes, it's also got Down on the Corner, which charted a good eleven places ahead of Fortunate Son (I'm a dork for knowing that. So what?) even though the former is far better-known. These are the best songs off Willy & the Poor Boys. But most (not all, mind you) of the rest unfairly rests in the shadow of those two tracks. They actually manage to breathe new life into the oft-covered Midnight Special (which has transcended the level of "standard" at this point), thanks to them very much making it their own. It Came Out of the Sky is pretty damn funny; Don't Look Now, a great love song; Side o' the Road, one of their best instrumentals; and Effigy, easily their best extended song. How'd all of these songs disappear? Okay, their cover of Leadbelly's Cotton Fields is far from essential; Poor Boy Shuffle's a bad instrumental; Feelin' Blue, an overlong jam. But this is a solid record overall!
- I am a huge fan of John Fogerty's solo music and his music with CCR. If you enjoy his roots-rock style then I strongly recommend that you check out the following:
1) 24 Hours A Day by The Bottle Rockets
2) Chooglin': A Tribute To The Songs Of John Fogerty
3) Banjos and Sunshine by Sixty Acres
4) Trace by Son Volt

5 comments about At Fillmore East.
- I remember the original vinyl album coming out in 1971. I listened to it many times and enjoyed the long versions of several songs including Whipping Post.
The CD came out and several songs were missing and I was disappointed.
Now we have a more complete ( if not complete version ) of the entire concert.
The duel guitars of Duanne Allman and Dicky Betts actually playing lead harmonies was something I dont remember hearing before this came out.
On the liner notes is says the Allman Brothers closed the Fillmore East, what a way to close it out.
If you want to listen to the Allman Brothers you need to get this expanded version, the abbreviated version is good but its like taking a shower with your clothes on, it just dont get it.
This is the finest hour of the Allman Brothers, unfortunatley just before Duannes' untimely death. Duanne is at his very best and plays possibly the best slide guitar I have ever heard, except for possibly Derek Trucks, who ironically is with the Allman Brothers currently. This is a classic to say the least.......................
- This is the original recording from the LP years ago Remastered. The other versions available are chopped up and not complete. I owned the LP version as a kid and this is the one to buy with all the expanded jams that go on upwards of a half hour.[..]
- This is the one with Statesboro Blues. Recorded live over several nights at New York's Fillmore East in March 1971, this is the album that provided the Allman Brothers their first big break. It captures the original six-piece band firing on all cylinders in their natural environment, the concert stage. The Brothers could record three to five-minute studio songs fairly well, but this album catches the Brothers at their improvisational best. The original release contained only seven songs, but two of those songs stretched out over nineteen minutes [You Don't Love Me, Whipping Post], a third song goes thirteen minutes [In Memory of Elizabeth Reed], and there's one eight-minute slow blues tune from T-Bone Walker [Stormy Monday]. There was so much material recorded during these shows, some of the songs had to be held over for the next ABB album, Eat a Peach. Those songs included the Muddy Waters tune Trouble No More, the epic thirty-three minute Mountain Jam, and the Sonny Boy Williamson song that got me hooked on the Allman Brothers in the first place, One Way Out. The live songs from Eat a Peach have since been included on the deluxe version of Fillmore East. This gives the listener the full audio experience of what an Allman Brothers concert was like in the early 1970s. You don't get to see the light show or the "twirlers" in the audience, but you don't get the "contact high" from all the secondhand marijuana smoke either. This album is simply the Allman Brothers Band at its very best.
- I didn't purchase this cd for myself. I bought it for my Pastor's son for a graduation gift. Why you ask? His son is playing bass and learning about classic rock music. When I gave the cd to him I said, "this is the greatest live recording ever and a must have for every musician".
If you have never heard the Allman Brothers before, you picked a great place to start. The original line up perform an outstanding set of songs along with the famous "Mountain Jam" just after finishing a blistering "Whipping Post". If you are already an Allman fan, then why don't you own this recording? You call yourself a fan. Though I think the band is still one of the best live shows today nothing will top this live recording...trust me.
- It's pretty simple, really. The Allman Brothers Band was one of the greatest live bands ever, and this recording best shows what they could do. The sound quality is superb, the artwork, liner notes, packaging, etc. are all great. And this "deluxe" package enhances the original version. Honestly, if you enjoy live music and great musicianship, this is an album you should have.
