3 comments about Roots Reggae (The Early Jamaican Albums).

  1. As a long time Toots fan I couldn't have gotten this collection fast enough. Although some of the songs were available on other collections this set has it all in their original format. Whats better the Maytals are on each CD and thier harmony can't be beat! I've seen Toots live several times and although he is excellent he has yet to find backing vocals that come close (He's still my favorite performer-better than Bob Marley, Peter Tosh or UB40). He has so much energy that you have to get up and dance. If you are a fan buy this collection while you still can! If not....why are you reading this?

  2. ...and I heartily agree with the review below, some of the greatest reggae music ever made. And "Pressure Drop" is easily my single favorite reggae song ever, end of story (second would be "Uptown Top Ranking").

I do subscribe to the theory, expounded by others in the past, that 90% of everything is bupkes. It certainly is true of reggae - so much of it is simply boring. So, why not get the best?, which Toots represents, along with a few others, like Marley, Tosh, Yellowman, and...well that's about it...

And, I love everything Marley has done, but haven't we all heard Legend enough? Play this when your roommate trots that out for the quadrillionth time...

  3. Whether you're a reggae fan or not, you will enjoy this long awaited box set. This is simply the best Jamaican music you will find anywhere. It covers ska, rock steady, and early reggae hits by one of the islands top bands, Toots & the Maytals. Packed with hit after hit after hit, this set is sure to please, from early ska tunes like "It's You" and "My New Name" to the classic rock steady beat of "54-46 That's My Number" to the funky reggae beat of "Time Tough."

For Maytals fans this is an absolute must. This set marks the first time the exceedingly rare "Greatest Hits" album has been available on CD. The album features classic singles like "One Eye Enos" and "54-46 Was My Number" as well as rarely heard tunes like "I Feel Alright" and "Teacher Teacher."

Fantastic from start to finish, even the casual reggae listener will be able to appreciate the musical genius in this set. If you were not a Maytals fan before, you will be after listening to classics "Sweet & Dandy" and "Pressure Drop." This irresistable set should be in your box now!

  1. I wore this album out when it came out, it just kicked azz from start to finish. It was abrasive, politically incorrect, and everything rock should be.

Then they disappeared and I hadn't heard anything about them for a few years. Next thing I know "Fly" was out and it made me through up in my mouth a little bit.

I'm sure the band made a boat load of money with Fly, etc. It sucks though, it's hard enough to find good bands as it is. Then when one of the great ones goes from kicking azz to bubble gum pop, it just sucks.

Oh well... this album is a must own, no question about it.

  2. I rate this cd on its artwork (the photo of that extremely sexy chic). I wanna stick my **** right in her.

  3. This is the album that got me into Sugar Ray. I bought this album way before "Fly" came out. I was into the heavy punk hard-core guitar. This album is awesome if you like heavier stuff and is one of my favorite. It isn't a big seller because of the wussed out songs that the mainstream liked of them and the expectation of that is the way they roll. Speaking of expectations. I saw them live when they first came out on the Floored tour. All these non-metal and non-mosh pitters were expecting the happy band that most of Floored shows. I thought it was funny when they opened the concert with "Mic Stealer" from this album and they all backed up and had looks of confusion on their faces. I think after their initial shock they realized that this is the good Sugar Ray and rocked out. Get this album! Most every song will make your head bob.

  4. I have always loved this band, "Fly was the song that got me into them, but when i bought this with "floored" I was so happy that everything else was pretty much hard rock. When 14:59 came out, I was happy with it, but i still missed the hard rock/metal outfit. I miss this band, because they havent put out a strong album since S/T 5 years ago. Bottom Line, Buy it. And why is everyone so surprised about this, I knew it from the beginning, thats why i loved this band! so buy it and check out what used to be...

  5. I've actually known about their "black sheep" album, L&B for awhile now but was never really too motivated to check it out
until recently. The catalyst for me buying it was mainly hearing other people say, "they used to be a metal band" and being the diehard metalhead I am it intrigued me enough to actually interrupt my metal cd purshasing bonanza to buy this.

The results? Well I was pretty damn pleased! Especially with the song Mean Machine which is indeed the highlight of this funky off-beat album with it's amusing lyrics and catchy music. Mark McGrath sounds awesome on this album, he yells, speaks in funny voices it's awesome, he really mixes it up here. THEY EVEN CURSE! I know cursing hasn't been a big deal since middle school but when Sugar Ray does it then it is. I mean imagine if you found out N'Stink and the like starting cursing and going crazy, it would be a tad shocking don't you think? What's also cool about this album is that it seems to blend some funk, rap, hard rock, and a little bit of humor. Yes, it even has a skit... but don't worry it's not like the asinine skits that take up half of modern rap cds disc space (they're bad enough with the music alone) but a damn good one with music in the background to boot! I won't ruin it by telling ya what it is, buy the cd and find out yourself!

I have to be honest that I've always liked Sugar Ray, yes even their soft stuff. That's probably especially shocking to my fellow metalheads out there (keep in mind that's coming from a guy who listens to Slayer, Pantera, etc most of the time) but it's true. What can I say, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Now I will do what others have done, show my friends the craziness that is old school Sugar Ray! By the way, yes I recommend this to basically everyone, I mean everyone at least likes some rock right? Anyone who doesn't like any rock is obviously inhuman and doesn't matter.

5 comments about Trojan Skinhead Reggae Box Set.

  1. What a great skinhead reggae comp! All the classic trojan skinhead reggae is right here!Symarip, the pioneers, derrick morgan, rolannd alphonso.....the list goes on.And for the price you cant afford not to get this....a great addition to any fan of skinheads or reggae

  2. A great compilation of some of Trojan's skinhead classics and a few of the rarities. Since many of us in the U.S. may never find these on vinyl to find so many of these on CD. is a treasure trove. Good liner notes by Old Skool Jim. Pick this box set and the suedehead one up and you have a couple hours of musical pleasure. A Max Romeo track would have been a nice addition.

  3. There are a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings regarding skinheads and the music they listen to. The term "skinhead reggae" may really leave some people scratching their heads. But this boxset does a good job at revealing just what this genre is all about. Jamaica was producing music at a furious rate back in the late 60s and 70s. Out of that copious catalog, these songs are what the skinheads pulled out as their own. Also included is some "home grown" British reggae that further exemplified the sound skinheads were into.

I would have to say that my favorites here are "Qua Kue Shut" by The Creations, "The Burner" by Vincent Gordon, "Elizabethan Serenade" by Sweet Confusion and "Reggae Fever" by the Pioneers (which is a version of "Gun Fever"). I also get a kick out of "Dollars & Bonds" which somehow manages to pay tribute to both the James Bond AND Spaghetti Westerns movies as well as "2,000 Tons of TNT" by the G.G. All Stars which an instrumental version of "Loving Reggae" (not on this set).

However, "Loving Reggae" does appear on Skinhead Revolt, which leads to my lowish rating. I feel that this collection, although much smaller, harder to find, and more expensive to those in the US, is a better example of what real traditional skinheads listen to reggae-wise. I've meet 3 skinhead DJs that carry the Skinhead Revolt vinyl on them and do just fine without the Skinhead Reggae boxset. I myself don't even listen to the boxset all that much. And I simply love classic reggae; but this just doesn't top off the list.

This boxset is a good introduction to skinhead reggae...it is just not definitive. And there a better tracks (like on the Skinhead Revolt album) out there. You just have to keep digging!

  4. No point going on about the history of skinheads its already been done by most of the previous reviewers so just on with the music.

Well for sheer volume of songs and quality both of the music and musicians this has got to be one of the best value box sets you can find. The comp mostly features the more upbeat ska style that made it so popular, much more danceable that the reggae style that was to come later and probably a little more accessible (granted many of the bands deliberately played in a style that would be more accessible to their target British audience) too many tracks here to point out one over the other this is however, a piece of history.

    Well worth buying.

  5. Isn't it amazing how many of these nich compilations Trojan has released over the years? Mod reggae, skinhead reggae, history of ska... next they'll have the hard mod reggae and the suedehead reggae... How many of these have repeated tracks?

It doesn't cheapen the comps though, as the old singles are hard to come by (especially for us in the States). Some great tracks here, my favorite is the first track off disc two (Qua Kue Shut). There's some embarrasing tracks on here too, case in point, Funky Chicken...

  1. I realize I'm giving this three stars and everyone else has given it five. You'll have to decide for yourself, but I think my score is more justified. Pepper is a fun band with a classic "feel-good" ska/reggae/punk sound ... like Sublime as others have noted. But if you are, or where, a Sublime fan you will ultimately find Pepper disappointing. Not because they are bad, in fact they are pretty fun, but because they never get beyond "fun." Sublime had a certain edge (mostly misogynistic), and unpredictability that Pepper lacks. Maybe with time they'll move past repetitive imitation and find something that makes them unique and interesting. I imagine there ought to be something unique about living and working in Kona?

Don't take all this as a negative review. As long as you don't expect too much (and who really expects a CD to change their life?), Pepper is a good listen. I recommend you try it if you enjoy Sublime and need something new to listen to.

  2. I had never heard of Pepper until I was in Hawaii this last week and saw them at the Waikiki Shell with 311. They were an awesome band to see live, and if your looking for a sound that isn't blared all over the radio these guys are it. They do definetly remind me of Sublime, but with thier own Hawaiian twist. I recommend thier music to anyone. They should be on tour this summer with 311 so go and check them out.

  3. Pepper is one of the sickest bands out there. I finally got to see them in concert on Saturday the 26th. I have all their CD's but it was awesome to see them in concert. You WILL NOT be disappointed with Pepper.

  4. Ok ive heard some of they're stuff and ive read the editors description of Kona Hawaii, and seeing that ive been there hand have hung out with the locals of the town, its all very true. I am about to purchase this album because i really love the reggea scene that i saw while I was in Kona.

  5. For everyone who was bummed when Sublime ended, your prayers have been answered. This band has a great sound to them and is similar to Sublime and Slightly stoopid. Keep an open mind and you'll find there is alot of music out there to enjoy.
    MINT!

  1. I had a VHS on this and was lost after lending it to a friend. Love the concert and after watching clearer on DVD I love it. Must get if your a No Doubt fan!!!

  2. I'm a long time No Doubt fan and I love this DVD. I also own the Rock Steady Live DVD, which was filmed better, and since it was their 3 huge tour they had many more hits to perform at this concert for their live dvd. Still, I give Live in the Tragic Kingdom 5 stars because it also includes many of their home videos from years before and leading up to making it big.

  3. the concert would have sounded great if they had mixed Gwens mic properly. it has a big empty room sound to her vocals too much echo everyone else is good sounding they just need to go back and fix her vocals nobody else has all the echo on their vocals but the rest of the dvd is good.borrow someones copy and see how bad the concer vocals sound. the studio stuff on it , the extra's sound great. write to interscope demand they recall it and fix Gwens vocals on the anaheim recording.the live from DEN HAAG concert footage sounds great thats the way her vocals should sound.

  4. THE DVD RELEASE DATE IS: JUNE 13, 2006!

Otherwise, the VHS version is excellent. You are not a No Doubt Fan unless you own this.

  5. Why in the world is it not out till 2010? or is that wrong?

5 comments about Wha'ppen?.

  1. A wonderful followup to their first album, this one covers much wider range of styles. It can seem a disappointment when compared to their classic first album, but if you take it out of that context, it stands as a terrific album on its own. Each song has a totally different style to it. But why did they change the album art? The original lp art from 1981 was so much more charming. The US pressing also includes "Too Nice to Talk To", a terrific single which was not on the original vinyl lp.

  2. I never got around to purchasing this in the 80's and now I wonder why! I saw them in the 80's (also General Public), but it was only until after seeing The Engish Beat recently at the Key Club, did I remember many of THESE songs... And I finally got the CD!

The good thing about the long wait is really enjoying my "new" album!

"Too Nice To Talk To" and "Doors Of Your Heart" got significant airplay, but there are a number of very catchy , mid-tempo Ska tunes here that will have you moving around, for sure! "Monkey Murders" has some very nice saxaphone work by Saxa (of course!) and "I Am Your Flag" (also a popular tune from this collection) had many people dancing. The next group of five songs are really well suited to follow each other in tempo, style, and melody. "Cheated" is one of my favorites and "Get A Job" will make you get up, or at least tap your feet! It is not the same song as the 50'/60's hit. The last song, "The Limits We Set" is a great example of Saxa's unique style, which is like taking a walk up and down the instrument, without blatant flash, but a melodic meandering style. This is prevalent throughout the album, but really noticeable on this final track as it fades out the set. His playing style is unique and he has a real knack for filling in spaces and using them to make brief, well placed musical additions.

If you are a fan of other Beat albums, you will also enjoy this one!

  3. my fav. english beat CD (and im a fairlly avid fan)
if you like this Cd you have to try and find "which side of the bed" which is the beats best song unfortunatlly it was never released on to a cd but if you can find it its worth the time

  4. Let's be clear. "Too Nice to Talk To" is the extra track (singular).

  5. After the wild hyperactive ska of their debut I Just Can't Stop It, The English Beat slowed down the tempo big time on the Wha'Ppen? album. Not that the band did a complete u-turn here musically, but it's a definitely a more subdued affair. While there aren't any tracks here as strong as "Mirror In The Bathroom", "Hands Off...She's Mine", or "Save It For Later", Wha'Ppen? is a more diverse affair and most of the songs here are very good.

The first single "Doors Of Your Heart" is pure reggae and several tracks here are in the same vein with the best being "Dream Home In New Zealand", "Cheated", and "The Limits We Set." While other strong tracks such as "All Out To Get You", "Get A Job", and "Over And Over" recall the ska of their debut, the tracks here are slightly more laid back but still danceable. "Monkey Murders" and "I Am Your Flag" are catchy pop songs that point to the direction they'd pursue on their next album Special Beat Service. While these tracks are all very good, the best track here is the opening "Too Nice To Talk To" which combines their sound with a funk beat. Other decent tracks include the very laid back "Drowning" and "French Toast (Soliel Trop Chaud)." While this may be their weakest album, it's still very good and has stood the test of time better than the work of the more successful bands they'd later form, General Public and Fine Young Cannibals. Definitely worth checking out.

  1. I cannot tell you how great this band was live! It is to my sorrow I have to say this band broke up a few years ago. They actually put out 7 cd's, their best being this cd and their last, Malltopia (a concept album of a slacker wandering a mall).

On an almost daily basis, I rag on John Taylor to get the band going again. His buddy Bill, the bass player)works with J.T. and a friend of mine, Kurt Sutton (who did a lot of live work with the group) at Neighborhood Lenders in Martinez california.

I am lucky enough to get together with them when they jam. And they still have the magic.

This is one of those bands that totally dominates in live shows. But there is still a certain `sound' on the albums.

it's time to bring them back out. If they don't rejoin, listen, and enjoy. Punk wannabe, with SUPERB lyrics!

  2. This eponymous major label debut could be called `The Uninvited's Greatest Hits". All but two of the tracks are pulled from their excellent Indie albums, and every track is a stand out. Wry, witty and thought provoking, The Uninvited are nothing if not controversial. If you have any doubt check out `What God Said', in which the creator explains to JT that he can't help out everyone, or `Ordinary Man' where Jesus tells Steve that `...it ain't easy to be the Son of God'. The tunes are catchy, tuneful alt-pop, very danceable with punk attitude (they pound pound pound). These guys are one of the best bands you've never heard. They are somewhat similar in style and tone to Deadeye Dick and Harvey Danger. Generally loud and wild, they also write excellent introspective songs like `Rose Street' and `Velcro Heart' that are never smaltzy. Check out `Bottle of Thunder' to hear their signature mandolin sound. I can't say enough good things about this album, just buy it. I gotta be a mega multi media hero!

  3. Easily one of my favorite albums of all time.. I find myself listening to Too High numerous times in a row.

Bachoi! I've always wanted to try it, I wonder if i have enough to buy it, it's grown in japan or maybe in china, or maybe some farm in south carolina. But just then I hear a voice in my head "Stay focused man tuna and bread", but right now I'm in produce bliss, WHHHHOOOOOOO!!! I'm too high for this!! - Uninvited

  4. The Uninvited are an incredibly talented and entertaining band. This album, along with their 4 others are worth having in your collection. However you can't buy the other four anywhere else, check their website for CD's and other interesting information. Unimpressed and unexcited, unaccepted and uninviiiiteddddd........but it's all good!

  5. As of Oct 20 I have seen these guys 4 times live at the Bit n Spur in springdale UT and they are incredible live. If you havnt heard them you have to buy the CD. It's so good I dont know anyone who dosn't like them

5 comments about Exodus.

  1. This is one of Marley's most perfect statements - maybe his best album. It contains 5 of his most famous songs and 5 of his most underrated songs.. This is probably Marley's most profound statement as an artist and songwriter - it is not quite as raw and hard edged as the original wailer albums with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer - but this is his most mature album as far as song writing goes..Essential!

  2. Exodus is Bob's greatest album. It was after this point where he became the Legend that we know him to be. It was almost unfair for Bob to start off with Natural Mystic on the album; the song is almost too good. The first few almost silent chords are the first indication of what await us. What I like about the album the most is the different mix of beats and rhythms. They range from the smooth easy listening of Turn Your Lights Down Low to the hard one drop roots rhythm of Exodus. Exodus really introduced Bob Marley and the Wailers to the world because it had messages that people from all parts of the earth could relate to. It was post 1977 that the Wailers embarked on their legendary world tours in 1978, 1979, and 1980. They went to places as far Tokyo, New Zealand, and filled stadiums with 100,000 people in Milan, Italy and Berlin, Germany. The album set new standards for reggae by being one of the first reggae albums to become more mainstream and less focused on the trials and tribulations awaiting the Rastaman In Babylon. My favorite song on this album is...too hard a choice.

  3. Really this album is definitive Bob Marley.Legend has assumed the mantle of being Bob's best album, yet it does not include " Roots,Rock,Reggae " which remains his only US top ten hit (No6).So-called connoiseurs fail to realise that " Buffalo Soldier" was a hit posthumously for Bob, but he didn't think it was good enough to put on a album when he was alive.Exodus turned Bob into a superstar although the US did not catch on till the release of Legend.Exodus contains everything, militancy, prophecy, romanticism, righteous education and more." Catch a Fire " is classic reggae, Exodus is classic Bob.

  4. What motivated Bob Marley to write some of his best lyrics, with strong spiritual content, messages of biblical condemnation for the wicked and biting criticism of the system and it's defenders? A complete album, some of his best work ever, and in contrast to earlier albums where there were always a few redone songs from his ska and rocksteady days, Exodus was mostly all new songs. Here you have an excellent mix - strong roots reggae rhythms on 'Natural Mystic' a Rasta grounation chant 'Heathen', a lighter dance tune 'Jammin', melodies such as 'One Love' and 'Three Little Birds' and two tracks that show Bob could have sung R&B, soul, love songs namely 'Waiting in Vain' and 'Turn your lights down low'. The title track was unique. Never before had there been a reggae song sounding like it, (funky world beat) nor had a reggae song ever been so long - over 7 minutes, most were short, to the point 3-4 minute jobs. The album built on what had been achieved with the previous album - penetration of the US market, but significantly here 'Exodus' was the first Wailer tune to get extensive airplay on African-American radio. What was the creative force behind all of this? We know that ganja and scripture reading was the fuel for some of Bob's words of wisdom but this album (specifically the first 4 tracks) were forged in direct response to one specific incident that happened to him in late 1976.

Bob, Rita and the bands manager were at Bob's yard two nights before the 'Smile Jamaica' concert scheduled for December 5. The concert, featuring the Wailers, was to be held at the National Heroes Park in Kingston. It was conceived by Bob himself as a means of getting peoples minds off politics, which was the all consuming force in the Island at that time, with a general election coming up on December 16. Gunmen burst into the Marley house firing shots, all three were hit, Bob's manager five times, a shot grazed Bob's chest and hit his arm and Rita had one graze her skull. Who did it and for what reason was never known as the gunmen were not identified nor caught. Politics was suspected. Although the Wailers were not supporters of party politics they could hardly be called apolitical as their criticisms of the system, inequality, injustices and oppression had always been central to their message. It's just that it was the strongest in the previous album. If that is what it was all about, rather than be subdued, Bob was stirred up and 'Exodus' was his creative response fueled by righteous rastafari anger. Bob himself says so in a line from 'Jammin' - 'No bullet can stop us now'. All in all an album of excellent musical expression.

  5. I saw Bob Marley in concert back in 1979 at the Beacon Theater in NYC. What an absolutely magical night that was. Not only was I transformed into an instant fanatic Marley follower, but since that incredible performance, my wife and son have also become huge fans and even our family dog is named, what else but....Marley.

Of the dozen or so studio albums, Exodus stands out as my personel favorite. With some of reggae's greatest song writing, One Love/People Get Ready, Jamming, Three Little Birds and my all-time, all-time favorite Waiting In Vain, Exodus is one of the strongest works by reggae's poet laurret.

5 comments about Keasbey Nights, Vol. 2.

  1. This album is leaps and bounds above the original (by Catch 22). It contains everything you could ever hope for from a truly talented 3rd wave ska band! There are several wonderful solos that really show off the musicianship of the band's members and the album as a whole just really comes alive. There's a quality and depth to the album that is rare, especially in this genre of music.

This is quite possibly my favorite ska-punk album ever, and certainly my favorite band!

    Enjoy!

  2. If you love the big band sound with all sorts of instruments with a ska feel than you will love this.

  3. When I first heard the original Keasbey Nights, it instantly became my favorite cd. I'm still listening to it today. When I first heard about this new take on it I was a little worried. I thought that Streetlight Manifesto couldn't compete with the original and they would just lose the "awesomeness" of the original, boy was I wrong. The horn solos are much better, most of the lyrical differences add quite a lot to the songs. However Streetlight does lose some of the energy that the original had. While I still like the first Keasbey Nights better, this is still an awesome cd that you should get as soon as you can.

  4. I guess the album was ok but to me the sound was a little bit too high school band but overall is was good

  5. Even if it was just a remake of an older Catch 22 album, Streetlight Manifesto did a great job with their second release, Keasbey Nights.
I really dont have much to say, but it's a great album.

5 comments about Dreams of Freedom: Ambient Translations of Bob Marley in Dub.

  1. Marley tracks without Bob Marley singing, is what this CD is all about. If the listeners haven't been exposed to the dub sound it may not be for them. Overall, I enjoy the dub sound so it fits into the reggae that I listen to. Definitely cool out music to chill to. But nothing compares to singing and messages of Bob.

  2. i really only respect a tribute if it has roots and i think that this one has roots. Chriss balckwell (bobs original producer and the owner of island records) and bill laswell were in kingston and chriss mentioned helping him to work on a marley translation project. and laswell not knowing bob personally he in true dub style which any one in dub mentallity would have done decided to take some of his most favorite songs and not just give you another bob compillation for you to breath new life into a soul not just glorify over and over again. what do you think dub is its just regge classics rut up retranslated reverbed delayed.. new life. imagine a phychadelic spirtual ambient dream relaxing listening to your regular marley it might turn into it naturally try it. only features marley in maybe 3 songs sparcelly and the original backround singers. all new mixes new instuments never heard before im marley tablas, new keyboards, cut ups, dense delays, dub

  3. I remember ignoring this album when it was originally released because the thought of an ambient Marley record sounded lame. What a terrible mistake on my part! This CD just flattened me! There's a lot more going on than just a typical dub remix so some purists may not dig it, but if you appreciate ambient and good dub this is all you. I can't believe how well these songs work in this context (with the possible exception of No Woman No Cry; it's good but not great.) This is a sweet record to chill out to or to put on when you want the mood laid back. It sounds cool in the headphones but in a good system with big bass it really opens up. Bass players take heed: Aston "Family Man" Barrett will take you to school and in this dubbed out mix he's never been more up front. Listen and learn.
I was concerned that this was just an excuse to use the Marley name but it was obviously done with the love and respect that the music and Marley's spirituality deserves. Praise to Bill Laswell for doing it right. Wish I'd caught on sooner, but better late than never.

  4. I love Marley as much as the next Rasta, but please oh please, only listen if you are truly a fan of whale sounds and bird sounds to fall asleep to. This is an ambient translation alright. I think Bob would have loved to see this NOT happen. I am a true roots fan and my tastes go far beyond just Bob, but I do know when I am hearing something that doesn't belong on the shelf mixed with reggae. I wish people would just leave Bob's music alone. It's like adding Slayer's guitar work over the top of John Tesh's greatest hits and calling it Dreams of Carnage: A Satanic Translation of a dork's fairy music. Something like that. Well whatever...buy this if you want...don't go around saying that I didn't warn you!

  5. Gets your groove on or lulls you to dreamland, depending on your mood. A rare gem. Expect quite a bit of tampering and ambient sounds and big dubby drum and bass licks from the original masters. NO BEAT BOX HERE. High praise to Laswell for that restraint. It's wonderful to hear the bass and drums from these big talents up front and isolated. The only track that is average is No Woman No Cry. Hard to say why, just not the best song for dub treatment.
