5 comments about Songs from the Street: 35 Years of Music.
- This set of 3 CD's had a great mix of classic and contempary Sesame Street songs.
- About half the songs are the original television versions. But the liner notes for the other half list them as being "from" other COMPILATIONS released in the 1990s.
Nowhere is it stated whether those compilations used the original versions or re-recordings, so who knows? Even the TITLE theme is not the original (It might be the version they use nowadays, but it's not the version most people know from the 70s).
Sesame should have just used the original TV versions of all tracks as that's what collectors of vintage material would be looking for (and paying quite a lot for).
They also should have focused more on the early years when the show was the most innovative. And as music was a major element, I'm sure there's a lot more material that could have been used, particularly those odd demonstrational songs about the number 5 or the letter R. Instead they've focused on the celebrity guests, most of whom don't really add much value.
I personally hoped there'd be that funky counting to ten song that featured on almost every episode (not the Pinball one, which I love too).
Disappointing, but until a better option comes along, this will have to do.
- I bought this when my daughter was born, and two years later she still asks for them to be played. The set contains three CDs, on which are collected famous songs, and ditties from the Sesame Street show...favorites like C is for Cookie, Healthy, Happy Monsters performed by famous groups like REM and more. The songs are not just kid friendly, adults will enjoy the refreshing take on some old favorites too:)
- I have always loved the music from Sesame Street, and as I have gotten older I have found that the next generation loves it just as much as I have, whether it be the older or newer songs. Since I bought this album, I have had it regularly playing at my sons' request. Funnily enough, anyone who walks in to our house smiles when they hear the music, ask what the album is, then sit back and enjoy it all - regardless of whether they have ever watched Sesame Street or not. Furry and real voices have universal appeal whatever the age of the listener! A beautiful album.
- If you grew up on Sesame Street - or just want some music for kids that isn't annoying - this is the box set for you! The songs are clever, amusing, lively, and educational. We bought it for ourselves as a trip down memory lane before our son was born - and since then it has been our favorite baby shower or first birthday gift! Everyone who has it loves it!

- I saw the titles of the songs on this recording and was hoping to hear the original stuff from 1975, but was disheartened to find out that the CD has been sabotaged by Elmo! Yikes! Elmo is not in every song, but does sing in many of them. Sorry, we're just not an Elmo fan here.
- I bought this for my 2-year-old daughter this year for Christmas. It has a few cute songs, and a few that she asked for by name, but others we skipped like Oscar's "I Hate Christmas," not because we are those freak type of parents, but because of our toddler's tendency to repeat words she hears repeatedly and I didn't want the word "hate" on her shortlist, even though she has no idea what it means.
Maybe next year they'll come out with a new collection of holiday songs with more traditional songs for little ones just learning the words.
- This was my first Christmas albumn 30 years ago and now my 4 year old daughter and I can enjoy it together. She loves it so much that we listen to it year round. Sesame Street never goes out of style.
- I really enjoy this product with my kids. It wasn't the full length thing like my record, but enough to bring back some memories.
- Unlike some of the reviewers who are looking for more nostalgic reasons, I'm happy to hear Elmo, Zoe, and the likes because it's what gets my 21-month old's attention. Even better, I like the music as well. It has many classic Christmas songs that I can sing along to with my kids. It's good family fun.

- My daughter is autistic and loves this cd. She listens to it every night before bed. She took a while to warm up to the music. We own the Rock and Roll DVD and she recognises some of the songs from the DVD,like Count up to Nine and I can't get no Co-operation. I had hoped that this cd would have included Telephone Rock and Forty Blocks from my home. All in all it's a good buy.

- I am well into my young adult-hood and I LOVED Elmopalooza, the movie. When I saw the soundtrack was being sold I secretly knew I had to have it. I love the soundtrack. It's so sweet and light-hearted. The characters' voices are all over the CD and my whole family enjoys it! Great soundtrack and if you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend it as well!
- I have no use for a CD - I wanted the DVD version and never got it. I don't know who is at fault, but I would like the DVD please. I can send the CD back if you want. Help
- I am eighteen, and I, my thirteen-year-old brother and my seven-year-old sister all LOVE this cd. I've even caught our mom singing along!
This cd is a great opportunity to introduce kids to a broad range of artists... Jimmy Buffet, Celine Dion, Kenny Loggins, Steven Tyler, even Rosie O'Donnell. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, you won't get sick of this album after fifteen rounds of "play it again!" It's not Elmo-heavy, but he is on several tracks, similarly to the video.
This album is DEFINITELY worth the investment-- your kids will listen to it for years.
- My kids loved the video so we had to get the CD. It's just as wonderful! They love it and so do we, the songs are fun and don't get annoying after listening to them over and over.
- A lot of fun music. My daughter likes everything on this, except for "I Love Trash". One of the first things she actually sang was "Mambo, mambo, mambo, I, I, I".
We prefer this over the video. As other reviews point out, this CD doesn't have a lot of Elmo, despite the title, and it isn't especially long either.

- This album is a nice way for kids and parents to practice Spanish words together, and get used to the sound of the language.
- This CD is fantastic. My 14 month old daughter loves to listen to it and so do I. Even my mom wants a copy. You don't have to have a child to enjoy this music. Every single song on this CD is fabulous and very catchy. The songs are about 80% english, 20% spanish.
- Some of the accents are terrible and there is FAR more English than Spanish (the songs sung by Elmo and Rosita are a little painful to listen to!). BUT, my daughter (3) loves it. When our first copy was stolen out of our car, she asked for it so many times that I had to go out and get another one. Still, if you really want your child to be exposed to Spanish I think there are better options.
- I need to buy another one of these CDs because mine is worn out! I teach Spanish to preschoolers(2-5)and they love these songs. The lyrics are fun to sing and it's great for dancing. This has been the best bilingual CD for kids that I've found so far.
- This is a standard play in our home. My kids LOVE the way the character's repeat each Spanish sentence after Luis, Bob, Maria and the Muppets. The songs are catchy and infectious. We love to listen to this one in the afternoon, and after a lively session of sing along and dancing, it's off for naptime! Buy the video too, it's fun and festive and will give your little ones a taste of Spanish culture. A must have for every Elmo and Sesame Street fan!

- The platinum CD is a much better purchase. There are only a few good songs on this CD, and not some of the better ones that are alaphet related on Sesame Steet.
- I grew up with these songs and am delighted to now be able to share them now with my two year old little boy! The CD covers the entire alphabet with easy to remember and upbeat songs about each letter. We have also given this CD as a birthday present for his two little girl cousins and it was loved by them as well. If your child loves Sesame Street this CD is a must! It's one of my son's CD's that I don't mind listening to over and over. I would highly recommend it!
- Almost all Sesame Street products are of outstanding quality. This one is no different. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that I was looking for old school Sesame Street. Now that may sound funny but my kids grew up with Big Bird singing ABC-DEF-GHI. And now I am a grandmother and how I wanted my granddaughter to grow up listening to the same thing. But with the Elmo hype, this CD has Elmo singing that song. I do wish they had it the other way but other than that, this is an absolutely WONDERFUL way to learn and laugh through the alphabet with your child or grandchild.
- My children love this CD. They are 3-1/2 and 1-1/2 years old. I bought this CD because I loved the album when I was a child. We listen to this CD every day and the boys have taken to day care where the other children beg to have it played. The only down fall to this CD is that the songs stick in my head which can get annoying at times. Well worth that minor problem to see the joy on my children's faces when they are dancing and having fun to the music.
- Fun alphabet-related songs to have playing in the background during playtime. My 16 month old daughter enjoys the music while she's playing.

- They left out the best song from the movie (Make it Mine by Mandy Patinkin)
I want that song! mine! mine! Buaaaaaaahahaha
- THe whole reason I bought this CD is because I love that song Mine that Huxley sings. I can't figure out for the life of me why they don't put all the songs on soundtracks! Why, why, why? Can you tell I bought this for my kids?
- I'm an adult having seen the movie and immediately bought the soundtrack. Sesame Street is the greatest influence for our little people, and Elmo is my favorite. This soundtrack is "fun", upbeat, toe-tapping, pure pleasure and a welcome escape from the sometimes harsh reality of the world. I love Kevin Clash as "Elmo". His voice is so sweet, you can't help but smile. I was disappointed at the absence of Mandy Patinkin's song, as Huxley, "Mine"! As you may, or may not know, Mandy is a great singer/actor in his own right, and his song was also fun...very catchy and makes you want to move. It's exclusion took my rating down 1 point. Great soundtrack. I'm glad I bought it.
- As soon as me and my friend went to see the movie in the cinemas I loved the soundtrack. "I See A Kingdom" by Vanessa Williams is still my favorite. It's a very happy soundtrack and not just for kids. I'm sure it'll brighten up anyone's day.

- A brilliant CD for children, and adults alike. I got this CD, because one of the kids I babysit LOVES singing along with the sesame street videos, so I figured he would enjjoy dancing and singing along to the CD aswell. I was right! He loves singing along to all the classic sesame songs, and I love singing along too! Makes me remember my days as a little girl when I sang the same songs! Very cute. Kids of all ages will get a kick out of this CD. =)
- I nearly cried as I listened to some of the samples of this great cd. I had forgotten some of the beautiful sesame street classic tunes like "Me" sung by Grover and "Imagination" sung by Kermit. This is a great album to give to your kids if you want them to develop a healthy self image and a good imagination. I think preschool and kindergarten teachers would do their students a favor by purchasing and playing any classic Sesame St. music. I am so grateful my parents let my siblings and I watch only positive tv shows and listen to positive music.
- Where would Platinum be without Platinum Too? This cd is great fun for the whole family. It is so easy to be silly when one of the Sesame Street cds is on. It is great at home, but really great in the car on long road trips. A great buy, [for any age :)] Highly recommended by "torri'smom" who once was a Sesame Street kid herself.
- Mr. Whipple's store is the one with the Charmin. I think you mean HOOPER'S Store.
Really, now. That reviewer should be ashamed...
- PLATINUM TOO is the follow-up album to the very popular PLATINUM. Both feature favorite songs from Sesame Street. PLATINUM TOO pretty much feels in the gaps left by the first album. Well that's not quite true because these albums only cover Sesame Street favorites through the early 1990s. Still, it's a great album and I've been giving it a lot of airplay on my webradio show. Some of my favorite tunes are:
"Counting is Wonderful" "Caribbean Amphibian" "The Grouch Song" "Believe in Yourself" "The Ballad of Casey MacPhee" "Take a Breath" "Mah Na Mah Na" "One of These Things" "One Small Voice" This is a wonderful companion piece to PLATINUM and is a great album to own and play for kids.
