  1. happy with the source and shipping. not as many top hits as i thought per my wife's opinion. not the seller's fault.

  2. Who would have thought? To me, they sound like a group that should have come from Louisiana or Southern Mississippi because of their deep Delta bluesy swamp rock sound.

This CD could have been improved just a little better. I see that they gave us the whole version of "I've Heard It Through The Grapevine", but I really missed having the full version of "Suzie Q" as I've always known it. I've never heard it cut short like it was here, and there is no excuse for it. It would have fit on this CD, in addition, to having even one more bonus track, like "Born on a Bayou" or "Midnight Special".

Oh well, I guess I'll just take what they give us and collect my own perceived shortcomings and make my own second Chronicles CD. The second Chronicles CD that they released, well, I could laugh. The second half of "Suzie Q?" What a joke! I'll make my own 2 disc "Best of Creedance Clearwater Revival" because I do need "Ramble Tamble", "Keep on Chooglin'", and even, the two other tracks that I just mentioned, plus there are other great tracks. Hell, I could even make a second collection that includes John Fogerty's "Rock and Roll Girls", "Centerfold", and "The Old Man Down the Road" from 1984. It's so easy to make a second CD of CCR to complement this release of Chronicles. So, thanks for the effort anyway.

  3. Got this today-I agree with all the other reviewers that it's great and you should get one for your kids! Brought back a lot of memories and I got to listen to some songs I had forgotten CCR did. Going to listen to it again now.

  4. They should have left out tracks #7, 15, 19, and included a major hit, Born On The Bayou, and a couple of other of CCR's big hits that should be here. But apparently the plan was to sell a follow-up album, Chronicle #2, along with it's share of filler tracks. This one is still worthy of 5-stars.

  5. This isnt my taste in music, but since I got it for someone as a gift I cant say too much about it.

  1. I finally found it again. I lost this cd and was so glad to find it again. All the greats!! Everyone should own this cd.

  2. I first owned this album back in the late 70's on 8 track, and I have wanted a cd for some time. A great selection of country by some great artists. a 10 on a scale of 10. Larry Anderson

  3. I put this album alongside Willie Nelson's "Red-Headed Stranger" as two of my most treasured albums.

With Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, the Outlaws are another supergroup, like The Traveling Wilburys.

This album does not disappoint. My favorite moment on the album is when Waylon has just completed his song, and then there is the familiar Willie Nelson instrumental guitar opening chords and the crowd goes wild. Willie has not even begun singing; I'm not even sure the audience can see him in the shadows, but they all recognize his guitar sound.

Jessi is a superb song writer and she is featured in his album. With the passing of Waylon Jennings, this album has even more poignancy.

To the best of my knowledge, the only way you can "buy" Jessi's "Looking for Blue Eyes" is by buying the whole album. It is worth it.

  4. I grew up on country music, with Waylon & Willie being among the most "modern" singers that my family listened to. At the time, I loved this album. I especially loved Jessie Colter. "I'm Not Lisa" still brings back memories. "Suspicious Minds" is really kind of schmaltzy and cliched, but I liked it then and I still like it.

All these years later, I'm not sure I really needed a reissue with "lost" music, though. Truth be told, I don't find most of this music as compelling as I did back in my youth. Waylon & Willie both did much better work elsewhere. Tompall Glaser is forgettable, in my view. I still love Jessie Colter, though. I just wouldn't necessarily recommend her to others. Her voice is definitely an acquired taste. I loved the fact that one of The Outlaws was a woman, I guess. Some things never change.

  5. The CD itself is in great condition. There was confusion about my having already purchased it, and shipment was therefore delayed. The seller quickly rectified this oversight and remained in constant communication until my receipt of the item.

  1. Unfortunately, living in South America (this is my case) forces you to buy what the local market has to offer.

Got this CI Greatest Hits compĂlation in a edition... made in Colombia.
The sound is terribly high-pitched. The booklet print quality is miserable (imagine the worst bootleg version).

The song selection is also bad... Not included his great performances of Neil Diamond's "Solitary Man" and "I Want Your Love".

Think that the 'great' compilators at Reprise Records, made one of their worst works with this album... Chris Isaak, being an awesome singer/performer, deserves a much better compilation work than this!!!!

  2. The CD is great. Great list of songs. Really the best songs. Just "Graduation Day" wasn't included. Released in 2006. Booklet doesn't contain song lyrics, but has an intro of how Chris got inspired to write the songs.

  3. This album is just great. I had forgotten some of Chris Isaak's work and was pleasantly surprised.

  4. After listening to a partial duet of Somebody's Crying with Michael Bublé on his show, I decided to order one of Chris' CD's. This is the first CD I have of his so I figured I couldn't go wrong with getting a "best of" selection. I love most of the songs. Love the style and sound of his voice!

  5. I would love to review my Chris I. CD, but i have not recieved it yet. in a few more days i am going to call american express and have the charges reversed. So somebody needs to get on the stick and get me my CD.

  1. Product was sealed and in excellent shape. Sound quality was fair to bad, but can be expected with the time the recording was made. Seem to remember it to be a lot better than it really was.

  2. I have been fascinated with the 60s and 70s since I was a little kid (22 years old now) and I remember listening to this album as a middle schooler and loving the Hendrix and everything else. Listening to it now still stirs up the same fascination and love of the music of the era. Some of the songs might not have top-notch sound quality, but I think that adds to the recordings and makes them feel much more raw and thrown together, much like the festival itself. The CSN (and sometimes Y) songs on this album are great to listen to, especially if you are very familiar with the originals. Also, all of the dialog and singing about protesting, peace, and stopping the war really lets you know what and when you are listening to. I am sure some people will scoff at me for not being old enough to really know about how this all happened and the significance of it; they are probably right, but I feel like I can still appreciate (to an extent) the gravity of the situation and the beauty of the music. If you like this kind of music and want to have a taste of one of the pivotal moments in popular music history, get this CD. Worth every penny.

  3. I bought this CD to use in a movie I'm making of my husband's tour in Vietnam. These are the songs he remembers while spending a year over there. Listening to such songs as "The Fish Cheer", "Joe Hill", Judy Blue Eyes, etc. brought back so many memories--great album!

  1. Well once again...every Indigo Girl fan has been fooled into thinking that just because they went acoustic that everything is better...Well I too for a moment thought that they went back to old wonderful powerhouse harmonies, where vocals were of the same equal strength, going over each other yet still coming back to their original harmony and not just acting as backups for each other. But no, they did it again...just the same as they have been since after Shaming of the Sun...everysong from Digging your Dream to True Romantic...one is singing full and the other is just barely making harmony, just so they can be still going by their name...if you go back in time to starting with Strange Fire, Nomads, Indians, and Saints, and other masterpieces such as Swamp Ophelia, you will see the true power of the Indigo Girls when they were in their prime...They still have the power to be every bit as good as they were 20 years ago...but once again...they choose not to..and disappoint more fans.

  2. This is a great example of just how far musically and lyrically the Indies have come in their near 25 years of doing their thing. A wonderful album, filled with not only the great intricate guitar work for which Emily is known, but with other terrific instruments that the girls have picked up and worked on learning in the last oh 15 or so years. Amy plays some mandolin, as does Emily, They both play banjo, they both play electric and accoustic guitars, there is some more "obscure" instruments thrown in as well.

Lyrically they are as thoughful and thought provoking as usual. I love this album because the feel constantly changes. One minute you are at the beach with Emily, in the next you are driving down a dark county road with Amy. If the lyrics don't move you, then there is something wrong with your hearing. I believe this is the best album in probably 10 years and I have all of them and like each one for different things. I have the double cd version of this album, and love both cds equally. It is nice to get a different feel to the tunes.

I hope the IG keeps doing what they are known for-thought provoking and thoughtful tunes and lyrics. Now if we could just get Amy to use that Mountain Dulcimer I know she was given, I shudder to think how beautifully the voices could be with that as a simple acoustic accompanyment.

  3. I heard some of the songs on xm radio and decided to buy the cd. I like the acoustic versions.

  4. Having grown up on vintage Indigo Girls, I was turned away from them by the horrible, overproduced MOR albums of late, and had all but written them off as current artists. However, I was intrigued by the new album title and cover, the fact that they are now independent of the record companies' stranglehold and the positive reviews. The added enticement of the acoustic alternative to their new album finally won me over, so I thought I'd give it a try. I was prepared to be disappointed, but instead I find myself addicted to this blissful new music (both versions of the album), and the sensitive, wistful lyrics of the songs. I've had this album for 3 months, and each time I return to it, I find I love it more. It is a mature work of great beauty which rivals or could even beat their greatest work.
ps: has anyone else heard the artistic nod to 'Tangled Up in Blue' in the opening sequence to 'Second Time Around'? What's not to love? Thank you Indigo Girls xxx

  5. Wow, I just absolutely LOVE this album! I'm a fan and have been listening to the Girls for years, but would not consider myself a HUGE fan. I've enjoyed most of their albums, but this album is just perfect. There's not a bad song in the bunch, and it's SO nice to have the acoustic versions with this special edition. Needless to say - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

  1. I wasn't disappointed with this CD, I like his style and like this album very much

  2. bought this cd as a gift.what a fine piece of music.my mom was very happy with it.cant go wrong with Mr.McClinton.this is what music should be.

  3. Delbert just keeps on getting Better. I am a 30+ year Delbert Fan and I think that this CD is one of his finest works. It shows just how versatile an Artist that he is. "Starting a Rumor" is a great ballad destined to be a hit, "Never saw it comin" (till she was leavin) blues, "People just love to talk" has a jazzy beat to it, "Until then" is My Favorite, the song has 2 genre's, it starts out as a slow love song and then works itself into a great rock/roadhouse beat with great guitar riffs and then back to the smooth love song (You have to hear this one!). "Cherry Street" is classic Roadhouse Delbert with guitar riffs and Delberts unmistakable vocals. These are just a few songs that jump right out at you, all are great, not a bad song on CD, also think that you will like "Wouldn't yo think" (she would have been hear by now) classic broken heart song to have a beer and listen too! BUY IT!

  4. In my opinion, this music by Delbert McClintock was not very good and is expecially below his on stage mlusicialship. I was disappointed.

  5. Love the collection of music on this c.d. Love the condition of the c.d, and can' t help but love how quickly it arrived for me to start enjoying. Thanks so much.

  1. This is a great collection, no argument.

Missing however, as also missing on the DVD, are some CCR hits that were not written by Fogerty, such as Suzie-Q and Midnight Special, and a few others ... presumably so he could put 'written by John Fogerty' on all the material.

This is too bad, but it is still a great collection and the DVD is fun but the live concert I saw in Victoria, BC was even better, and the audience more enthusiastic than the deadbeats in some LA bar !

  2. There has been no shortage of CCR compilations. Chronicle is near perfect, and Chronicle II is an excellent complement. On the other hand, The Long Road Home is the first compilation of John Fogerty's thirty-something year solo career. But seven songs, from seven albums fails to show that Fogerty really has had something to say over the past three decades. The Long Road Home is an abysmal summary of a great solo career. MIA are "Hearts of Stone", "Travelin' High", "Flying Away", "Rock and Roll Girls" (essential), "Big Train (From Memphis)", "Eye of the Zombie", "Change in the Weather", "Swamp River Days" (essential), "Blueboy", "Joy of My Life", "Bad Bad Boy", "Premonition" (essential), and "Honey Do". Add these thirteen songs to the seven solo songs on the album to make a fine solo retrospective. But Chronicle does a much better job of summarizing Fogerty's CCR career than the Long Road Home, and Premonition does a much better job of summarizing his solo career. Having said that, this album is a great listen, just a completely unnecessary one. Put Me In, Coach!

  3. i'm going to keep this short. great remastered sound with most of the songs i wanted except for "i heard it thru the grapevine" and "suzie-q" which i obtained through buying the two 20 bit k2 remastered albums/cds they came off of [cosmo's factory and the self titled creedence clearwater revival] for a few bucks each from one of amazon's sellers. so for what i paid for this cd and the other two albums/cds i couldn'd be happier!

  4. Back in 2005 John Fogerty settled his decades long dispute with Fantasy records and returned to the label as a solo artist. This multi-talented singer/songwriter/musician certainly surprised lots of people back in 1972 when he broke away from Creedence Clearwater Revival at the peak of their popularity to pursue a solo career. While Fogerty did experience a fair amount of success as a solo act he was hard pressed to duplicate the phenomenal run he experienced with CCR during the incredible three year period from 1968 to 1971. During this period CCR had an amazing total of 9 Top Ten hits! Now all these years later comes a pretty comprehensive single disc collection featuring many of those great CCR tunes and a number of Fogerty's solo hits as well. "The Long Road Home: The Ultimate John Fogerty/Creedence Collection" offers up 25 of the biggest and best tunes penned by this legendary performer.
If the hits are what you are looking for you then "The Long Road Home" certainly does not disappoint. Included in this collection are 14 of Creedence Clearwater Revival's biggest and best tunes including "Bad Moon Rising", "Down On The Corner" as well as the band's first big hit "Proud Mary" from early 1969. I was certainly quite pleased to find some of my favorite CCR hits as well including "Have You Ever Seen The Rain", "Lookin' Out My Back Door" and "Who'll Stop The Rain". These are all the original Fantasy recordings you would remember from the radio. Now one of Fogerty's first solo efforts was a song called "Rockin' All Over The World" which was a fairly substantial hit in the Fall of 1975. You will find a rollicking "live" version of this tune included here. During the mid-80's John Fogerty returned to the Top Ten with "The Old Man Down The Road" and had another major hit with the song "Centerfield". That song is still being played in both major and minor league ballparks all over America more than two decades after its release. Both of these tunes are included here as well. I was also happy to find that "Almost Saturday Night", a terrific tune from one of Fogerty's 1990's albums, was included here as well.
As a collector, the thing that appealed to me most about "The Long Road Home: The Ultimate John Fogerty/Creedence Collection" was that I could find John Fogerty's best work with Creedence and as a solo act all in one place. In addition, I found the half dozen or so newly-recorded "live" tracks to be quite enjoyable as well. All in all, this one is a fine addition to my collection. Highly recommended!

  5. Not sure if it was a good cd or not, I assume it was just by looking at songs on the sleeve, but the disk would not work. I didnt want to try to waste time sending it back. thats a pain,

  1. I had heard snippets of this singer/songwriter on You Tube, etc and was impressed with this style and voice. I was however disappointed in this album of songs, with some exceptions. Since I live in Texas and I have seen playbills advertising his performances in the DFW metroplex I will catch a live performance, maybe he has a commanding stage presence.

  2. I love this CD, this guy. I put this on all the time for people and they love it too. It stays in my mental rotation for top X great albums.

  3. Hayes Carll is the new face of country music for me and this album is fantastic. Funny, outrageous, touching and just plain fun! Great songs, great lyrics and funny stories - It's all here and just in time to lift your spirits for 2009. Buy this album and keep it in the CD player 'cause you'll listen to it over and over.

  4. Saw Hayes Carll on Imus in the Morning, He is Great, Just Plane Good Music, you can understand.
I saw him on Imus in the morning. And had to go out & buy this one.
Don Imus's, Imus in the Morning, is a great place to hear good music. From Older bands that are still good but don't have the top 40 stuff.
This is some of the best listening music I have heard in a long time. BUY THIS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

  5. The songs are witty, fun, and they just make you feel great. I think of myself as a fan of all music except country. This is the album that might break the seal. For 5 dollars an excellent buy.

  1. this was the first cd from steve earle and it was good for the time when it came out. it has a lot of good songs all of which were singles off the album and some that were not singles. if you like rockin country with a twist of mellow this is the album for you.

  2. This is Steve Earle's first alblum and his best. if you like rock, blues you need this cd.
    it's great.

  3. Steve Earl is a force in American Music that is not just Folk, Rock, Country, or Pop.
Hard to get to get air play. Like Mary Gauthier, Lucinda Williams, and Anne McCue; a radio programmer's nightmare. This is good though because these artists stand pat and do not bend with the dollar.

  4. One of the best written albums of the 1980's. Song after song can grip you, if you know small towns. Earle seemed to be trying too hard in his early years and then went Hollywood after this album hit. This one defines him, not "Copperhead Road." He just wrote very well and accurately on this one. Good strong riffs, well produced, and soulful. All the elements I need for a 5 star rating. This album is comparable to Lucinda Williams's "Car Wheels..." in that it has a unifying theme, is dead-on to the theme, and has great performances. If "Hillbilly" is a positive for you instead of a dismissive term, you should like it. "Nothin ever happens around my home town and I aint the kind to just hang around..."

  5. Dare I say it, this is THE BEST country album that was recorded in the eighties. So naturally, it was largely ignored by the music row jugheads in Nashville forcing our hero to go into the realm of rock music in order to have his talent appreciated. The first six songs on this release are perfect in every way! Anyone who likes vintage Dwight Yoakam, the folkier side of Springsteen or the seventies era of Waylon Jennings should own this!! The title track is marvelous and just a blast to listen to, "Goodbye Is All We Got Left To Say" is one of the best written songs ever and "Hillbilly Highway" will get stuck in your head for days!! Then as if this trio wasn't good enough, then along comes "Gettin' Tough" to knock you upside the head followed by a couple songs later by "Someday" known as the greatest song Springsteen NEVER wrote! If this album isn't a five star, then I don't know what is!! Buy it, love it, live it!! It's that good!!

  1. This cd hasn't left my player since I opened it. Levon Helm has been creating some incredible music for decades but his latest work, Dirt Farmer, along with Electric Dirt are as good as anything he has ever done in my opinion. Dirt Farmer is a wonderfully eclectic array of Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Americana, Folk and Rock n Roll. The song's style and influence vary from track to track and each song is enhanced by incredible story telling. Helm underwent surgery for throat cancer and doctors said he would never sing again. Not only is he singing but he is tearing it up in his signature style (with extra Arkansas) along with daughter Amy and some help from his friends. The album is so raw and real and stripped down that it sounds unlike anything out there right now, Appalachian jug bands not withstanding. The range in emotion throughout the album is polarizing and each listen uncovers a little something new. A classic release from a classic artist, Dirt Farmer is as organic as its title.

  2. Levon Helm in my opinion was the best voice of the band.My favorite was their version of *The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.I really enjoyed this CD by Levon Helm.Just check out the sample tracks, although they don`t do justice to the actual CD.

  3. Levon Helm is a master craftsman , this album is destined to be among the "BEST OF... american music" for years and years...

  4. Levon Helm has definitely weathered well - and his arrangements and performances on this album reflect that 100%. This is the best I've heard from Helm since 1975.

  5. Levon Helm is creating music no one else is doing these days. If you loved "Music from Big Pink", you will love this "updated" Levon. His voice has a new sound after his throath cancer, and it really fits his Southern/Rock/Country sound. Love it or hate it, Levon is unique in the modern music scene.
