1 comments about In Search of the Lost Chord.
- I have the first two Moody Blues albums in the new 2008 remastered format so far. "In Search Of The Lost Chord" is the most psychedelic of all Moody releases. The new remaster sounds really crisp and clean. The drums sound especially good, compared to previous cd issues, on which they have a muddy sound. Ray's flute sounds brilliant with all the other exotic instruments on this album. There is a certain warmth that is missing on this re-issue. I have read about the use of a "quad" version for these remasters, but the 1997 remasters, to me, hardly beat the first cd issues of these classics from the beginning of the cd era. I always knew they could sound better. The only complaint I have at this point is that the 2008 remaster of "Days Of Future Passed" has really obvious crackling sounds in the master tapes after the song "Peak Hour." But, the bonus tracks, more than anything else, have made these remasters worth their cost. Only four songs from "Prelude (1966 - 1969)" haven't appeared on one of these '67-'68 Moody Blues remasters. "Please Think About It," which sounds like a '50s R&B classic, was always one of my favorites from that collection. "Long Summer Days" was also very good, not to forget "Gimme A Little Somethin'" and "King & Queen." Anyway, I will probably purchase the remaining "Core 7" 2008 remastered Moody Blues cds in the near future. So far, the two I have purchased have been worth the price.

5 comments about Stupid Dream.
- Among Porcupine Tree albums, "Stupid Dream" has to be up near the top.
It is a melodic masterpiece, showcasing Steven Wilson's penchant for superior songwriting and production.
"Piano Lessons" and "Pure Narcotic" showcase an almost rock/pop sort of sensibility that gives the album a strange sense of optimism, despite the somewhat pessimistic or dark lyrics that accompany most of the album's songs.
"Stranger by the Minute" is a delightful track with a frolicking lead guitar, offset by strange lyrics about the ghosts of killers and children.
The only thing really missing from this album is the crunch that the band began to use as an accent on their 2002 masterpiece "In Absentia," then brought to the fore on opus "Deadwing."
All of the songs are well-crafted, though the lyrics, as mentioned, can be a bit of a bummer in spots.
I've yet to hear anything from Porcupine Tree that doesn't excell in musical credibility and enjoyability, and this album is no exception.
- "Stupid Dream" may be my favorite Porcupine Tree album. It is a tough call because all of their stuff is so good, but this one combines all of the elements that make the band great into comprehensive amalgamation that works like a charm. Like the previous album "Signify" the album tends to feature shorter songs and not as much instrumental work as earlier albums. But, the songwriting here is top notch and the album is full of Porcupine Tree classics. "Even Less", "Piano Lessons", "Don't Hate Me", "A Smart Kid", and the instrumental "Tinto Brass" are as good as anything the band has done. The rest of the album is great too. The Stupid Dream tour was my first Porcupine Tree live experience and a great one it was. Another 5 star discs from The Tree.
- Great band making great music with great production! Even Less, Piano Lessons, Slave Called Shiver, This is no Rehersal.....what more needs to be said?
Well - I could add the fact that this is one of the greatest bands around right now and EVERY serious rock fan should already own this CD, along with In Absentia, Fear of a Blank Planet, Deadwing and Lightbulb Sun! Just don't ask me to rank them, other than preferring Deadwing by the slimmest of hairs, there's a 4-way tie for 2nd!!
And, if you should get a chance to see them live.....by all means DO!!
- Released in 1999, `Stupid Dream' was Porcupine Tree's 5th studio album. Having already established themselves as prog gods within small circles of the prog community through albums such as `Sky moves Sideways' and `Voyage 34'. `Stupid Dream' may have been perceived as a back-step in terms of progression as this was easily their most accessible album to date, at that time. Delivering a mix of upbeat pop with long dark prog songs; this change of direction far from compromised the quality of output. Instead from going to the complex to the relatively more simple style of songs, they make the simple even better without forgetting their progressive roots.
This album is one of those landmark albums in my life; One which I will never forget. It was a Saturday night in April '99 when my Dad spent the afternoon shopping for CD's in `Lost in Music' in the West End of Glasgow. It was one of those moments where he heard something in the shop and had to find out who it was by......it was Porcupine Tree's latest album - `Stupid Dream'. He got chatting to the guy in the shop and found that they were playing in the Cottier Theatre that night which is also in the West End of Glasgow, which really excited him. However he also had a committee night out that night which he was desperate to get out of, but at the same time had no-one to go to the gig with. So he asked me. At first I was reluctant, but eventually he twisted my arm. That gig to this day, is in my top 5 gigs of all time. In turn `Stupid Dream' is still one of my favourite albums. This album not only got me into Porcupine Tree, but also acted as the gateway for getting into more progressive rock music.
Looking back I can see why this album made such a big impact on me. Before I came across Porcupine Tree I was really into my Indie/rock music such as Ocean Colour Scene, Radiohead and The Bluetones. On `Stupid Dream', some of the songs do have an indie sound such as `Pure Narcotic' and `Piano Lessons. While there is also the longer efforts which venture more into prog rock territory. Therefore I feel this album acts as a ferry boat, shipping people from mainland indie/rock over to Prog Rock Island.
The album itself kicks off with `Even Less' which is one of the darker, more progressive songs on the album. Right from the opening vocals, "A body is washed up on a Norfolk beach, he was a friend but I could not reach." It was apparent that this is just the start of what I consider to be the best lyrics to any album I have ever listened to. Another example from this song, which is one of my personal favourites: `Some of us are left to fend for ourselves; others are born to stack shelves." Then there's a killer riff that adds such intensity and passion to the song. As the song is quite mellow until this riff kicks in just after the chorus. It is as if a volcano's erupted every time it comes on.
After this song, the rest of the album is predominantly set on the more mellow side. Some of the songs have such a warm and uplifting feeling to them that every time I listen to these songs I give off a sigh, as it is so relaxing. In particular, `Pure Narcotic', where piano, acoustic guitar and light drumming are used to create a majestic melody. Again Wilson is on fine lyrical form with: `You keep me hating; you keep me listening to the bends'. Now I may be bias because "The Bends" is my favourite Radiohead album, but all the same a genius lyric. I do find this song a bit weird because the lyrics are quite depressing but the joyous melody acts as a kind of counter-balance creating equilibrium. All the same a wonderful song and one which many artists during the 90s were attempting to make but never really achieved the same standard as this attempt.
One of the biggest shocks of the album came when I first listened to `Piano lessons' and to my surprise it was a piano driven song! Seriously though, this is excellent. The core of the song focuses around a fantastic piano riff which creates a magically chirpy atmosphere. Once again Wilson's lyrical display is on fine form with:
I remember piano lessons
The hours in freezing rooms
Cruel ears and tiny hands
Destroying timeless tunes
I like the last line especially as its one of those statements which someone makes and the only real response you can give 99% of the time is "It's so true!" I think what lyric shows along with many others, is that Wilson uses his lyrics to get across his thoughts and ideas on the world. To me he comes across as being not only a gifted songwriter and musician but also an extremely intelligent human being who thinks before he speaks.
Overall this is an incredible album; firmly cementing its place in my top ten albums of all time. Having owned the album for eight years now, there is still not a single track which I am fed up with yet. The song writing is on a different planet, the melodies are refreshingly enriching and Porcupine Tree in my opinion touched greatness with this effort. I have to say, prog still comes second to indie/rock music in terms of preference. But any time I do want to go on a holiday to Prog Island, I always take the `Stupid Dream' ferry boat and I recommend you do the same! Who knows I may end up living there some day....
- This is a good album. I would place it right behind the last three albums. However, if you don't have any prior experience with DVDA, don't get too excited about the second disc. It won't play on either of my DVD players or my computer. I would love to hear the extended version of Even Less, but I'm not going to replace my entire audio system and/or computer for the experience. If you don't have this album yet, you should definitely buy this, if only to get the original album (remastered) on the first disc. But don't re-purchase it for the bonus material unless you're sure that you have the technology to enjoy it.

- George really was way too underrated. This album will always be a classic.
Delivered within a few days and in perfect condition. I've played it every day since I received it and love it.
- Do yourself a favor: buy this album. When it arrives, put everything else aside, get your headphones on, lie on your bed, close your eyes, and listen to it beginning to end. This is an album that deserves to be listened to in one sequence before you start listening to each song individually.
This album is a journey through George's soul, and if you're lucky, your own soul as well. Yes, it's long, but all meditations are long. Listen carefully to the lyrics as you lie there, try to get the imagery in your head.
This is the best album by any solo Beatle. Yes, better than Lennon's "Imagine" and "Plastic Ono Band", better than McCartney's "Band on the Run". Those are phenomenal albums with some great individual songs, but this one stands alone as an experience to be treasured.
The only flaw with this album is that some of the jams at the end are kind of filler. You'll probably only listen to them once. You'll probably be in a trance by then, so it'll be really cool, but once you snap out of it you'll realize that you're hungry and the album is running a bit long. But that's okay, because more is better when it comes to George Harrison. Bless you, George.
- The 30th anniversary boxed-set edition was remastered by George Harrison and is much better than the original 1970 release. As a bonus you get a booklet written by George, explaining his views about the old and new versions. Plus, you get bonus tracks not included on the original release.
This was and is George's best solo album and this version is as good as it gets. As you may know, the original recordings made shortly after the Beatles dissolved, featured Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Klaus Voorman. Dave Mason, Badfinger, Billy Preston, Ginger Baker, Phil Collins, Bary Brooker and others.
I could go on endlessly trying to explain why this album is great and worth purchasing or repurchasing if you still have the original version. All I can say is, spend the twenty dollars. You will not regret it. This album will last a lifetime. Thank you George. We miss you.
- From what I've been able to understand,Harrison released this immediately upon his departure from The Beatles. These are the songs he had been sitting on during the denouement of the band, and when the band finally split, out came these songs. This shows that George,in addition to being "the spiritual one" was also a very talented one. THere are a few "B Sides" ("From Behind that Locked Door", "It's Johnny's Birthday") but there are a lot of strong songs here too. Check out "Wah Wah" (my 4 year old son's favorite).
All in all,The Dark Horse did good for his first time out!
- I would have given this 2 1/2 stars if I could. I would like to see a "naked" version like they did with Let It Be. Make this a one CD release with all of Specter's horrible production removed. Harrison can write some great tunes, but he is hit and miss--mostly miss.

- Read up on Chicha music. Its sound is inspired from an old Peruvian liquor that may cause hallucinations. The music aspires to treat your senses to a range of sounds and textures. Mission accomplished.
Chicha Libre, a band from NYC is the only Chicha band north of Central America according to the NPR report. I heard some samples of the music on the radio. Based on that I bought the album and will now search out other Chicha bands like a heroin addict looks for his fix. The music is fantastic. Its a mix of Latin and surf rock that is tied so perfectly together it isn't clear when you are surfing in San Diego or in a small village in the Andes. The music rolls along with continuing baselines that give the listener a sense of traveling, movement, or surfing (duh!).
When I listen, I'm surprised this mix hasn't happened more often. I believe Chicha Libre brings out more of the surf rock style than a more traditional band, but I'll have to find out for myself. The sound from Chicha Libre is at different times mellow, exciting, traditional, and innovative. So far I like #12, Popcorn Andino the most. There is an appropriate mix of jam sessions that include key boards and maracas.
Side note: I'm a big fan of Os Mutantes, a psychedelic rock band from Brazil from the 70's. From a historical perspective It is nice to see their music was not created in a vacuum. Chicha music either inspired that style or is influenced by it. Either way, if you liked the Latin music that occasionally drifts off to shoe-gazing, you are well on your way to enjoying Chica Libre.

- If you are a Byrd's fan - this CD collection is a MUST. The music brings me back to my college days - and this is a good representative of their musical styles.
- This box set is a "steal"!!!!! 4 full cds, a dvd AND a book for less than $30!!! We checked it out at Borders Books for $80...EVERY Byrds fan should have this!!! and if you're not a Byrds fan, this will make you one!!!!
- It was the summer of 1965 and I remember hearing that marvelous, jangling, chiming guitar, and those heretofore unheard harmonies coming out of little radio speakers dialed to the local AM top-40 stations. Pop music was dominated by the likes of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, Gerry and the Pacemakers and many more such groups. The time has subsequently been dubbed as "The British Invasion." It seemed that Great Britain was the place to look toward for good rock'n'roll. Such an irony! An American form of music was being recreated, reinterpreted, and exported back to the land of its birth.
And here were the Byrds singing Bob Dylan's hobo anthem "Mr. Tambourine Man." No one hit wonders, they soon followed up with "Turn, Turn, Turn", and another Dylan cover "All I Really Want To Do." At last, it was America's answer to the Beatles. And the Byrds were no less a pioneering rock group, mining folk music, and later country music all with Roger McGuinn's signature Rickenbacker twelve string guitar. This boxed set "There Is A Season" documents their entire career from their formation and early recording sessions in 1964 to an attempted reunion in 1990. It's all here, folk-rock, country-rock, psychedelic-rock, raga-rock, and back again. Buy this record, you'll be glad you did.
- this is an excellent boxed set. brings back a lot of good times and memories.
better than the beatles. really cool!
- It's just about impossible to overstate the influence The Byrds had on contemporary pop music in the sixties and early seventies. After putting the tweleve string jingle-jangle into Bob Dylan's Mr Tamborine Man, one could hear that sound clear across the Atlantic as The Beatles, particularly George Harrison picked up on it on Rubber Soul. Listen to Harrison's composition If I Needed Someone and you can't help but think of The Byrds. The love affair continued on into Revolver. The Lennon/McCartney song And Your Bird Can Sing owes a debt to Roger McGuinn's It Won't Be Wrong. Listen to George Harrison's compostions I Want To Tell You and Taxman, both are indelibly stamped with The Byrds signature tweleve string sound.
The influence dosen't end with The Beatles. It continued to be felt and heard by everyone from Van Morrison on Brown Eyed Girl to Donovan's Sunshine Superman to The Kinks A Well Respected Man and The Turtles I Only Want To Be With You and eventually back to Dylan himself as he embarked on his classic Nashville Skyline album. And the most obvious Byrd devotee Tom Petty kicked off his career with An American Girl, a song that many thought actually was recorded by The Byrds.
This box set gives both first time listener and Byrd afficianado an in-depth overview of their vast and varied body of work. From their PreFlight orgins to their folk-rock emergance of Mr. Tamborine Man and Turn Turn Turn to the raga-rock thunder of Eight Miles High and Fifth Diminsion to the Nashville West incarnation of Sweetheart of The Rodeo and Dr Byrds & Mr Hyde. It's all here. Listen and think back to the days when McGuinn and company were blazing a new path and so many were born to follow.

5 comments about Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968.
- Plenty of great songs. Some I've never heard before. A few I don't want to hear again! Well worth the investment!
- The Sonics, The Standells, The 13th Floor Elevators, etc... -Long before the modern "The" garage rock revival (think White Stripes, Black Keys, Strokes, Hives, & their ilk), these bands rocked rowdy American youths. This collection is essential! The companion booklet was a fascinating read. I know proudly claim The Choir, The Outsiders, & The Human Beinz as fellow Buckeye staters. Think of it as the beginning of a long, strange archeological dig. Hear The Premiers' "Farmer John" today & find yourself searching out the out-of-print 45rpm tomorrow. $40 for (4) discs? Yes, please!
- This box set is a must for 60's garage rockers. The sections represent the era well. They are also the original recordings. a delight to have in a collection of garage rock.
- There have been many classic albums that I would have loved to have listened to on their release but was too young: Led Zeppelin iv, Sgt Pepper, Dark Side of the Moon (you get the idea). However, I can imagine what that may have been like when I took a punt on this box set after seeing a great review in a British music magazine. Having not really heard music from this genre/era before it was an absolute revelation to me and took me to a new level in my appreciation of rock and pop. As a teenager in the late 70s in Britain I grew up with the punk ethos of the Pistols, Clash, Damned, Buzzcocks, X-Ray Spex etc... and found a similar vibe in the music on this box set. As with the other Nuggets compliations you get a real impression that this has been lovingly and painstakingly put together by people who really know the music. So as you can guess I cannot recommend this too highly. If you don't know this stuff you're in for a treat, it'll be a thoroughly welcome addition both to your collection and your musical knowledge.
- I first heard this collection on vynl in the early 80's and when I wanted to once again hear and now own it, I was so happy to find it on Amazon and for such a great price. The CD's the shipping everything was and is excellant

So now..my review..
"I do not listen to this type of musics but being very popular USA 60s-70s groups, they made some nice hits, and some not so nice hits!"
I await your negative votes my little friends! Hope my review helpful and that it is understood!
all the best my little friends,to you two I offer hope, HALF A MIND is a terrible thing to waste!
and ALL the best to everyone else here at Amazon also!
Peppi (PS, I do like Cristal Blue Persuasions a bit, it was a big slow dance hit at many a party in the latino community! )
- Love this cd. I graduated high school in '67. Crystal Blue Persuasion was and still is my most favorite song; in fact I looked to see if I could use it as a ring tone for my cell - no such luck. But, truly, I loved the 60s music, listen to it while on the treadmill daily. My stereo system has a repeat button and believe me I use it! Tommy James, I might add, had alot of hit songs that still sound good.
- I bought this item for my father for Christmas. I'm sure he is no expert when it comes to Tommy James and the Shondells, but he claims that the songs were re-done. I read the reviews on many different versions of the "Best of Tommy James" CDs, and I thought I was going with the right one. Perhaps he does not remember how the songs originally sounded, I'm not sure. I just wanted to let everyone know because he was very disappointed.
- This is a comprehensive double-length collection (27 songs), conveniently on a single disc. I looked over all the options before I purchased this, and Anthology appears to be the best of the Tommy James and the Shondells compilations.
The selections include all of their most familiar famous Top 40, like "I Think We're Alone Now" and "Crimson and Clover", as well as the best of their more obscure tunes like "Love's Closin' in on Me" and (my favorite TJ tune) "Sugar on Sunday".
All in all, NOT typical 60's pop rock. A unique niche - much of it is kind of bubblegumish, but an acid-rock slant definitely comes through. Generally feel good stuff that is easy to listen to and get in to.
Listening to all of this in one stretch brought a new realization (or the reminder)of what I had not really noticed before (or had forgotten) . . . This guy and his band were the whole package on a top shelf level. He is a superb writer, and was WAY ahead of his time in use of electronics effects. James has a clean well controlled voice that he uses with an edge, and the aforementioned guitar and keyboard effects are catchy even 40 odd years later.
Good mixing/sound quality, and the price on Amazon is a bargain. I've had this CD for a couple of years, and never tire of giving it another listen when I need a little classic/pop rock boost. As I said, it's easy to listen to and like - I can't imagine anyone not getting a kick from this.
- If you love the music of the 50s,60s & early 70s,as I do,then this is the collection for you. Tommy James & The Shondells made some really great music. I especially love"I think We're Alone Now","Crimson & Clover"and"Crystal Blue Persuasion"-all are beautiful. The rest of the collection is great, too. I highly recommend that you buy this-you'll love it!

- Great beat, use of drone gives an unusual effect, almost like 60's music, with a new beat. Turn down the lights, turn up the sound and enjoy!
- This album was strongly recommended to me by a friend so I went out and got it. Once again, my friend's taste in music proved correct - this is a great album. Other reviewers have pointed out similarities between The Black Angels and the Doors, and that's totally accurate. Passover also brought to mind Jesus & Mary Chain's early albums. The influences are obvious, but "influenced by" never moves over into "totally ripped-off" territory. It's an album that stands on its own. The whole album is good; the first four songs are great. This is a great start for a band - let's hope they can keep this kind of musicianship up.
- Heavy duty Trudy. You best have a real stereo to handle the load. Not for kiddies.
-
This cd has bore a hole in my brain and its making me crazy.A mind altering trip.
- Passover by The Black Angels is an album that has so much meaning & is so addictive, it gets into my mind & won't let go. This band has combined compelling lyrics sung with an unexpected voice with tribal beats & droning, effects-laden guitars to create a singular & important piece of work. Anyone who is into music incorporating drone & guitar effects needs to own Passover because it is a stand-out in the genre. It may sound a bit montonous the first few listens, but after about 4 listens, you will start to realize what the music is doing to you. It's magical, and a huge listening experience for anyone who is initiated. Highlights are: the whole album start to finish, & keep playing 3 minutes past the last song for an acoustic song called, sort of, (they never actually named the bonus track) 'Iraq'.

- i am not embarrassed to say i am one of grateful dead's biggest and long time fans. all things considered, this may be their best album. it shows the group as they really were; beyond belief, and a complete mess , sometimes in the same song. the 'beyond' parts make the experience more than worth the sloppiness and there are some chill inducing beyondo highs here. you dead lovers know what i mean. this is the album i always thought [hoped] they would release, but i believe they got cold feat, and scrubbed them up best they could. but we all knew better. for instance, when the dead would start a song that was special [i know; very subjective] like st stephen, the crowd would go nuts on that first note, but on other albums, what do you know, no crowd! not here, though. if you have been there, you'll get back that good old feeling. when the drum intro for alligator starts, and the crowd cries out in sheer joy, well, you get that experience of what it was like to be there in the audience. by the way, it is a great version , but they hit the wrong chords on the first change. now how can that be great? well, the rest hits the highs. if you had been there, let's just say you were able to forgive mistakes because you knew what was coming. there are great versions of st. stephen, casey jones, with bill graham acting up, bird song, cumberland blues, china cat/know your rider, a really exciting hard to handle, wharf rat, and dark star. i was actually at these concerts [ i think i missed one night, or i just can't find the ticket stubb] and i really can't believe that i can now get to be there again. so can you
- Ladies and Gentlemen, The Grateful Dead the cover states, and so the original issue was named. Did it get confused with the George Michael(!) release, or what?
Nevermind, this is an easy release to recommend, even to newbies. Think of the finest Grateful Dead albums, and put this one right beside those.
Yes, there's lots of Pigpen, but this really all about Jerry and Bob and Phil playing one great tune after another in that "bar band Dead" style that included Motown and Merle Haggard and psychedelia, during the era that made deadheads out of all who attended their shows.
Highlights include the St Stephen hints in the Alligator jam in disc four, routinely cited as one of the best jams ever, or the killer Hard to Handle right beside a Merle Haggard cover, or "Second that Emotion" or Bobby Weir's "Me and Bobby McGee" there are so many fine songs on this set. It's got a "Morning Dew" set opener!
This is Europe 72, less polished, with more Pigpen, and a Dark Star, and all concerned earnestly playing and singing and having a good time doing it.
Think of it this way: it's got Tom Constanten on the Dark Star, as good a Pigpen as you can find, and a ton rare tunes found seldom elsewhere, done very well, and Jerry and Bob and Phil playing together as well as they ever did, while right in the middle of the Workingmans and American Beauty era. So, you like those discs? You like Live Dead and the Skeleton Album and Europe '72?
Then "add to cart" and smile, smile, smile!
- This is a great addition to any Dead collection. It has a great variety of classics and quite a few deep cuts. I think it was a great value and have been really enjoying it!
- This CD captures the Dead in their heyday. I still liked them a lot when they went through changes later on, but the early 70s were the best. Bob Weir had learned how to fit in between Jerry's lead and Phil's bottom end.
I can't seem to get enough of their excellent 'funkadelic' rendition of the Smokey Robinson song "I Second That Emotion", which I had never heard by the Dead before. There's a lot of other very good material spanning the range of the Dead's musical experimentation.
This CD is highly recommended by me for Deadheads and casual Dead fans as well. It's very tight at times, and not so tight at other times. Exactly what you expect from these musical innovators.
- This Show has been on bootlegs for years but you will reconise this version of Bertha - yes it's the same recording used on Skull and Roses - so is Warf Rat - but why all these songs were not used is a shame - Trucking is outstanding and clocks in almost 12 minutes - Phil's bass playing is really out front and good - this is actually two shows taped for Skull and Roses planned outtakes etc...The Byrds played and were taped too on the same dates (not on this CD though) They opened the first show and the Dead opened the second for the Byrds etc..Hard to Handle is the same arrangement the Black Crows covered in the early 90's and has Pigpen singing on that one - These were the last shows by any group at the Fillmore a small theater in New York City run by Phil Graham - it was closed down because it was too small for the growing number of fans after the Woodstock concert movie came out in 1970 and the new Madison Square Garden build on top of the old Penn Station was now open for bigger concerts in late 1970 ( multiple bands played there too in concerts - The Dead played at the Woodstock Concert too in 1969 and were terrible - they were high on a unplanned acid trip and it rained most of the set - they lost their light show streen to high winds and Bobby got electricuted at his mic - Jerry was the only one that sounded good and Phil stopped playing on a lot of the songs and thier soundman Ramrod was thrown in a near by lake by irrate hippies who blamed him for the bad low level of sound etc.. - but this show is really outstanding a year and a half later - you won't be sorry to buy this last Fillmore Show - most of all the best bootlegs out there was recorded at this place - THe Who (1968 Sellout and 1969 Tommy material)- Hendrix (Band of Gypsys 1969 to 1970 New Years day - 3 shows) - The Byrds (1971) etc...The sound was excellent there because of the small 2000 seat Venue there - Can you Imagine seeing all these bands for 6 dallors a show back then in a 2000 seat theater - unblievable man - The Dead were Jamming this Night for sure - Jerry was Playing the Sunburst Stratocaster Hendrix gave him over a year before ( he played it from end of 1969 to 1971 till he started to play the bare wood Stratocaster with the Harley Davision logo on it till that was even replaced by the famous Ambelic Wolf guitar ( 1973 to 1979 )seen in the Greatdful Dead Movie - man you wish you could go back in time but this is the next best thing I guess - thank God for these recordings people - by the way the booleg CD version was 75 dallors of these shows back in 1991 so your getting a deal and more songs too - all the songs are good on this CD
- Driven that Train - High on Cocaine - Casey Jones you better Watch your Speed - Bump Bump - Trouble ahead Trouble Behind you know that notion just crossed my mind is that right?

- The first song Purple Haze was the same arrangement Jimi Hendrix did when I saw him in 1967. What an incredible compilation. Exceptional for any Jimi Hendrix collector!
- I bought this boxed set after my old Hendrix CD's mysteriously disappeared. I thought the set would replace the classic albums, but every track is an alternate version. With the exception of a "Star Spangled Banner" (which bears NO resemblence to the awesome Woodstock version) the cuts make acceptable -- and occasionally superior -- substitutes for the classic Hendrix hits.
- This is a must have it you like Jimi Hendrix. This set includes studio songs and several unreleased live songs, which I have never heard before. Included is a 79 page book loaded with pictures and information on the band. This is one of the best CD sets that I have ever purchased and added to my collection. Enjoy.
- you are a timeless legend jimi!!! you are the god of the electric guitar!!! and furthermore you will always rock!!!
