  1. If the songs were aranged a bit better, it would feel as succesful a rock opera as Green Day's. Despite that, the wild switch in styles from song to song still works, and is great fun to listen to. You can hear the influence of other bands so strongly, almost as if they have someone from depeche mode, or queen, or whoever, sitting in on a song). And as others say, the dare to add some classical infusion (and Sampson and Delilah of all things) was the first time I heard it, shocking. (WTF?). But after a few listens, I find a really injoy it - I look forward to it. Despite starting out sounding like a run of the mill pop album, it goes off the rails, and I love it.

  2. This is a masterwork combining phenomenal songwriting, Progressive twists, Intriguing Percussion , Melodic Cutting Guitar Work etc... etc.... etc.... Freshly dowsed with Modern Progressive Originality, though clear influences such as Queen are quite clear. This is better than Absolution and a clear indicator that these guys are getting better and better with age. Probably the most prominent take away for me musically on this CD is the classic piano works and fresh Synthesizer sounds and how well they highlight the mood of each portion of the total works as well as each song. The Vocal Melodies are also rewarding in nearly a Primal way. I found myself absolutely moved multiple times throughout the course of this CD which is a rarity in itself these days. They could have satisfied me with any one of these songs on each of their next CD's. BUY IT and Savor IT ! Incredible ! Can't wait for the next one.

  3. This album has absolutely rocked my world. I just recently rediscovered Muse among my vast music collection, and realized that I had been missing out on a truly great band. Perhaps I wasn't ready for it when I bought it? Anyway, Muse in general is an amazing band, and I highly recommend them to anyone who is more... adventurous in their musical tastes. If you are just starting out with Muse, Black Holes and Revelations might be a better place to begin.

This particular album is a work of art. However, it is an ALBUM. It's not really for downloading single songs, as you will most certainly miss out on an integral part/feeling of the album.

For those who are disappointed by The Resistance, I think this merely represents a personal taste difference, because I have found this album to far surpass some of Muse's other work, at least musically. The songs here have some great lyrics, but I am more interested in the artful musical composition influenced by many different styles (see also Absolution). Bellamy really shows the power and beauty of his vocals here, and I am supremely impressed.

  4. Bought this for my brother since I was already a huge Muse fan. now I have another convert! This album rocks, is reflective, a great combination of classical and alternative hard rock. Their best so far, in my opinion.

  5. One of the songs in particular is a homage to Queen (which I love) and they're all rather theatrical, but that is what I love about Muse, the passion that you can feel behind the music. The piano pieces are beautifully lifting and sweetly flow through my thoughts.

  1. MUSE is one of the best bands of all time. Period. Being a prog rock and rock fan of music, for me they are up there with Genesis (old Genesis), Rush and the Beatles. The genius of Matt Bellamy as a song writer, gifted pianist and guitarist continues to amaze me. Obviously, I own a lot of MUSE music. Prior to purchasing this CD/DVD combo I was already obsessed with BHAR and already owned 2 copies. What an accomplishment this album was for the band! But to include the Absolution concert DVD in with this purchase makes it my best MUSE purchase to date, excluding concert tickets of course. The Absolution DVD is a tough one to acquire if you live in the states like me. But at last I found it and did not hesitate to pay $70 for it. I had seen the Absolution concert on Muse's website (check it out muse.mu....it's bar none the best band website I have ever seen) and I knew I had to find it so I could blast it through the huge speakers in my living room. The version of Muscle Museum on this DVD alone makes the purchase worthwhile. Well done MUSE.

  2. Some cats at my workplace told me this was good. They played it for me and I was hooked. It is a nice mix of electronics and rock music. The groove of the music is catchy and the sound is alluring. i recommend it. I have heard other albums by them which are good as well. I do not think they have anything that is bad.

  3. Can't really add more to what has already been said. But I love this album "cover to cover."

  4. Received CD "Black Holes and Revelations" in good time and good shape. I am very pleased.

  5. This is a great CD. I never heard of MUSE before going to a U2 concert. But I got this CD and I listen to it. And it ROCKS!!! I feel like I need to fight to survive!!!!!

  1. my nephew Mildred's flush-puppy Henry spat this atrocious heap of stinking dregs out in the cot. Yah, amy, I want your h*rny **shole, lest me having it doesn't interfere with your grandiose despise of this shitCD.

Its makers should be executed by the ballot instantaniously??????????

  2. The Dark Side of the Moon is Pink Floyd's ninth album and I think we can consider it as a single extended piece rather than, a collection of lyrics.
Even though this is a concept album, a number of the cuts can stand on their own.
I'm thirty six years old, I've always heard about this Pink Floyd's album but I had never listened to it, one day I was looking at the television and saw a Pink Floyd Tribute and I decided that I had to own one of the best-selling records of all times.

There are people out there, I was one of them, who have never heard the album. If you're one of them, you owe it to yourself to borrow a copy from someone and give it a spin.

  3. This is a diehard competition of nogood fools and blasphemists.
Yah, this stinkpy CD soled millionths but it was a part of a masterplan to infringe the do-gooders and stifle the sermons of the impoverished pallets.

Choose your platform NOW and speak and piss in the faces of the floyed lo-vers and so--called maniacs!!!!!!!!!!!!

we love you. Frank Sinatra wouldn't have done it other wise!

  4. This cd most likely is an effigy of the silly kind.

Its atrocious musical gaffe is enough to distinguish the rotten from the prowess.

Its a slow diver and should've never been relaesed!!

  3. The product itself was great. We love the music from The Wall, Pink Floyd. The CD case was broken when we got it and we had to replace it. Would like to see better packing for such things.

  4. This is what happens when egos, drugs, and growing fame all collide. Let's be honest, there is no reason that this needed to be a two disc affair. Some of what is here is absolutely amazing and I think this whole package would benefit greatly had they not become so overindulgent. However it is what it is, so I had to be honest and give it three stars. Nearly every album they released before this one makes this look small and weak. One would be much better served starting at the beginning and work their way towards this one chronologically. (Instead of the other way around like most seem to do now) This was kinda a last call type of deal, where as "Wish You Were Here" and "Meddle" were triumphant expressions of art.

  5. These two-bit jackass cheap performers whine and moan a lot. They almost seem intent with their adolescent stance. However, this cannot be a normal state of being! They should either get the professional help that they obviously crave or face criminal charges for letting out ths horrible monster out in the world.

  1. With Absolution, Muse finally succeed in becoming the grandiose, overblown Spandau Ballet of this generation; and singer Matt Bellamy a crooner without a cause. Sure, his deep-throated operatic bellowing may sound impressive, but ultimately it leads us nowhere new. In my opinion Muse did all this - and did it better - with their first two albums, Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry, achieving much more in the way of clear musical diversity.

As canny readers may note, I've awarded Absolution four stars so I can't think TOO badly of it, right? True, it's not that the individual tracks are lacking in any way - there's some brilliant music here - however taken as a whole, the album suffers from a similar problem to Radiohead's Hail to the Thief, in that both albums have too many ill-defined songs. (I only compare because both albums are the 2003 releases of bands I adore... and both feature 14 tracks).

But where as I quickly grew to know and love HTTT inside-out, Absolution often seems to drag for much longer than its fifty-two-minute running time. Through repeated listens I've discovered that unless I'm paying strict attention to the music, many of the songs end up blending together in a sonic-boom mush, sounding quite similar to one another in style and scope. (Ex: Apocalypse Please, Time is Running Out, Stockholm Syndrome, Butterflies and Hurricanes, all seem to be cut from the same loud, dramatically-patterned cloth).

My personal favourites on the album (though possibly unpopular choices) are 'The Small Print' and 'Endlessly'. Next to 'Hysteria', 'tsp' is one of Absolution's punchier tracks, and is also thematically/lyrically interesting. Meanwhile the understated 'Endlessly' exhibits some unusual rhythmic flourishes and experimental sounds.

Reading these reviews, I notice that Absolution is possibly the highest regarded of Muse's studio albums (if one can judge by the ratings and the sheer number of reviews posted) and to that end I agree that it stands head and shoulders above most of the dross that passes for music nowadays. But it's clearly a transitional album for the band, lurking somewhere between their early alternative rock sound, but before they came out all guns blazin' with Black Holes and Revelations - musically speaking that is.

  2. After hearing Hysteria in Rock Band and Resistance on the radio, I was interested to learn more about Muse and their work. If you have to choose, I would recommend their newest album, Resistance. Some of the songs on this album are great to listen to, but more often than not, I find myself bored and uninterested with many of the rest.

I'm a fan of alternative rock in particular, so this comes as a shock to me, since I've heard many good things about the band. I'd recommend searching the net and finding recordings of the entire album to listen to before committing to a purchase.

  3. I love music but hail back to the days of the 70s prog rock period when you listened to the album from beginning to end. There are few CDs today that match that period (not a knock but a recognition of the times.) So I was wonderfully surprised to pick up this CD while waiting for my wife and listened at full volume in my truck (which has a great sound system.) I was blown away. Powerful, sweeping, melodic, engaging. For the first time in a long while a CD to make my spine tingle. Something to listen - and enjoy - in it's entirety.

I could hear all sorts of influences - Queen, Rammstein, but so much more.

This is original and powerful work.

Now I have a pile of other Muse CDs to acquire and enjoy. Just glad I stumbled across this one.

  4. Ever read a book, see a piece of artwork, or hear something so profound....that it screams out to the very core of who you are and resonates with every cell in your being? I have loved music more than any other art or media form since I was old enough to know what music was. Muse is beautiful, unhindered, melodic, complex, and powerful. Quite simply, Muse has created the music my ears and soul have been waiting for my entire life.

  5. I have had this cd for years, and only gave it a quick run through originally. At that time I was in more of a heavy metal fase but wow, I've been listening to this for a week strait and love it more everytime...great, great album!

  1. This 2 DVD set is a must own for any Floyd fan. Disc 1 is full of classic tunes. Disc 2 has the full Dark side of the moon project on it plus a great version of comfortably numb. The Pulse 2 disc DVD set is worth the money .

  2. What a show!!If Comfortably Numb doesn't bring a tear to your eyes something must be wrong with you.UNBELIEVABLE!!!Major Goosebumps. The whole Dark Side of the Moon album LIVE..... WOW!!!! Dolby Digital 5.1,SHAKE the HOUSE down.

  3. Being a product of the end of the "Baby Boomers" PINK FLOYD was the music of my formative years. Unlike most people, I think that "Wish You Were Here" is the best album of Pink Floyd. "Pulse" is a really good compilation of most of the greatest music from the group. From the beginning track of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" to the next to last "Comfortably Numb" (and the last track is good, too!) I throughly love this album/dvd. With overcomming the personal issues that permeate among the band, it was great to see them come together and do a spectacular concert. I would recommend this to any fan of Pink Floyd as they will have a fantastic set of music from one of the greatest groups of the 60's-90's!

  4. Concert meilleur quej'ai vue avec son fils incroyable10/10 pour un concert en image dvd et 8 / 10 Qui Peut etre superieur EST UNE d'un concert autrte Qui est en blu-ray

  1. This Album had a huge impact in so many ways and stil does today. Legendary Psychedelic and Rock and Roll Album.

  2. I've known Pink Floyd's album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON for many, many years, but although I've been writing Amazon reviews for nearly a decade, I've always been reluctant to post comments about DARK SIDE. What more can I say after thousands of others? How many people are going to decide whether or not to buy this universally acclaimed classic rock album based on my comments?

Well, I might as well dedicate this space to two properties of the album that I've always found peculiar indeed. The first is the way it succeeds not so much based on its musical content (its melodies, harmonies and rhythms -- its tunes abstractly considered) as its atmospheric production. Now, I'm a fan of nearly the whole of Pink Floyd's career, and this album would be fine music regardless of the producer, but Alan Parsons's role is what takes DARK SIDE to a completely new level: the sense of space (the SACD quadrophonic mix is worth it), the warmth of the sound, the plain authenticity of the sampled speech and the flawless mixing of one track into the next. Pink Floyd's music had been more overtly psychadelic in the past, but the exploitation of spatialization makes the trippy moments here more out of this world than ever before. It's almost like the band could be playing anything, but the way the sound comes at you is enough to make it a masterpiece.

The second remarkable property that I admire about DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is how behind the times it is in many respects -- that's right, I like how it sounds more in tune with the late 1960s than its 1973 release date. In expressing the vibe of that remarkable period of history that had already sadly passed forever, Pink Floyd created a monument, whereas something more clearly Seventies might have lessened its greatness.

  3. A themed album about the potential of society's pressures to drive a fellow to paranoid insanity, "Dark Side of the Moon" was a quantum leap for Pink Floyd, launching them out of BBC Top Gear reverie and into arenas and stadiums.
At this time, Roger Waters' lyrics weren't yet so weighty or preachy as to mention their subjects by name, so his brilliant words fit extremely well with the beautifully constructed, psychedelic music, mostly the creations of Pink Floyd's music department (Dave Gilmour, Richard Wright, and to a slightly lesser extent, Nick Mason). The lyrics never overshadow or outweigh the music, which even by itself could have made a substantial landmark of a record. Two of Wright's musical responsibilities, 'The Great Gig and the Sky' and 'Us and Them' are evocative masterpieces, and Waters' lyrics on the latter are nothing short of eerily poignant.
In fact, these were probably the best lyrics ever given to a psychedelic-oriented rock album, even if by 1973, Pink Floyd's "psychedelic" reputation was ready to fall away to more deliberate pieces of work; 'Money' was the biggest US single of Floyd's career at the time ('Another Brick in the Wall Part 2' was still six years away), and 'Time' is an album-rock radio staple to this day. The use of sound effects and spoken word snippets throughout the record were effective and hugely influential for many acts and albums to follow, but it's the brilliantly constructed, equal-band effort that makes it such a flawless work.
Its mystique allowed for "Dark Side of the Moon"'s appearances on Billboard's album chart for a record-breaking fourteen years. Arguably "the 'Sgt. Pepper' of the 70s," this monumental 9-track disc made Pink Floyd a name as commonly spouted as that of the Beatles, though Floyd kept their music somehow greater than the individuals who made it.

  4. Tengo el dark side of the moon en cinta magnetica y en CD y el formato sacd el bastante superior. Se juega con la espacialidad de alguno sinido, la nitides es mayor al igual que la calidad de los bajos. Era lo que esperaba.

  5. I wanted this to come out on DVD-A. I bought my SACD player just for this multichannel mix. I am so happy I have it. And the SACD stereo mix is also top notch.

  5. Pink Floyd's 1975 album WISH YOU WERE HERE marks a major transition for the band. PF had hitherto consistently remained in the rounds of psychadelia, and even 1973's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON has a spirit that is essentially late 1960s. With this album here, however, Pink Floyd displayed a colder production and a new use of synthesizers that was wholly of its decade, David Gilmour's guitar work settled into a groove that continued for all the Pink Floyd efforts to come, and this was to be the first of several albums whose theme was entirely cast by Roger Waters.

WISH YOU WERE HERE contains four songs, of which one, the ambitious 12-part suite "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is split in two to bookend the album. "Welcome to the Machine" and "Have a Cigar" are criticisms of the music industry, the later having main vocals by Roy Harper, while "Wish You Were Here" is an elegy for a friend suffering from dementia. Though I loved the title track when I was in high school, but now that I've heard its main riff butchered by morons with a guitar on every youth hostel balcony in Europe, I just can't enjoy it much anymore.

Musically, the album is generally of very high quality. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" has a variety and elegance well above the band's earlier suites. The use of synthesizers is beautiful, never sounding as cheesy as in the efforts of other groups during this decade. Lyrically, I've never been able to fully enjoy the two songs mocking the industry, because they fail to make clear whether Roger Waters felt he was victimized himself this way, or if the conniving of label executives was a recent development (a lot of people have claimed that the industry changed around 1969).

  1. From 1964 Go Now opens this album, it's belted out, but the remainder of the songs, starting with Tuesday Afternoon and Nights In White Satin from the LP Days Of Future Passed, are very different.

Days Of Future Passed was released in 1967 and may well have been the first ever marriage of classical and rock/pop music.
By all accounts Decca records were dubious about it's chances of selling as no one could dance to it!
It turned out to be a massive success and launched The Moody Blues career, which has been one of the most notable in this genre.

The 17 tracks last 75 minutes, so there's value for money and included are some less known songs like The Voice, Gemini Dream, Blue World and Your Wildest Dreams.

My own favourite chocies are Ride My See Saw, Voices In The Sky, Blue Guitar (Justin Haywood and John Lodge), I Know You're Out There Somewhere and to top the lot the superb Forever Autumn ( Justin Heywood).

Back in 1978 I got to meet the band after a concert at The Empire Pool, Wembley, London and found them very modest about their achievements.
Credit to them for their music and grounded persona.

  2. Having seen on PBS recently a live appearance of that dazzlingly multi-talented group of British song-writer/singers out doing their thing once again I was amazed to discover they were playing many if not all of their old songs and many new ones as well in a much-improved (if that was possible) rendition. It was then I swore to once again acquire "The Best of the Moody Blues" on CD - for before I had found and purchased the machine with which to record vinyl to compact disk I had in my possession only a vinyl copy of that music. When I discovered this album on Amazon at such an affordable price, I could not wait to own it. Thank you Amazon for your never-exhausting surprise barrel for what is good for the soul. We who are not economically-privileged salute you for making it possible to truly have and own a library of our favorite music. This album personifies to me the best of Moody Blues on CD; now if only I can acquire PBS' entire holdings of their works presented on last year's drive for financial support....any ideas, Amazon?

  3. This is one of the best collections of songs I've ever owned. Love it, love it! Playing it over and over in my car and find myself looking forward to having to drive--anywhere! You will be hooked. I'm so glad this was available as their "best," as it truly is! My TOP favorite CD now.

  4. WHAT A GREAT ALBUM - WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT - I LISTEN TO IT FREQUENTLY

  5. Very good quality, and good music. Have never had a problem with anything ordered from Amazon..

  1. I watched it and didnt think it was that spectacular but my stepdad liked it. He didn't like how they played the unreleased songs. He said it was unreleased for a reason.

  2. tha dvd came in the condition that it was stated and it came in a reasonable time period.

  3. When I put Disc One of this flippin' awesome set in my laptop, the sound that issued forth from my speakers was a cacophany of appalause, and then the Hammer of the Gods began playing, and I've never had so much fun with a DVD ever, as in my life ever.
I've loved Led Zeppelin since I was a kid, but I respect and enjoy them more than ever. Between Robert Plant's unmatched vocals, to Jimmy Page's legendary guitar, to John Bohnam's hammering drums, to Jon Paul Jones' insane bass. This DVD made me experience the Led Zeppelin live. I give it a 5 out of 5, you MUST BUY if you're a Led Zeppelin fan

  4. Led Zeppelin...this two DVD set is sure to please diehard fans of the legendary kings of hard rock and will serve as a tremendous introduction to the band for newer fans. These DVDs have it all - live concert footage from 1970, 1972, 1973, 1975, and 1979, promos, press conferences, and a whole lot more. In my opinion, this DVD set is far better than The Song Remains The Same DVD. This set also contains a couple of songs from their Madison Square Garden performances on their 1973 tour that don't appear on The Song Remains The Same. These songs are Misty Mountain Hop and The Ocean. You'll see the changes that took place with their stage performances from year to year. The 1979 footage is very interesting. The band seems more mature. The total running time of these two DVDs is five hours and twenty minutes, so this will provide lots of entertainment for Zep fans.

There are a total of 30 songs between the two DVDs. All of their classic material is here, and then some.

If you want to see the greatest hard rock band in action, then definitely pick up this set. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham are legends who made legendary music. It is worth the extra money to own this set rather than The Song Remains The Same. Sure, that is a classic set of 1973 concert footage, but this set gives you a lot more.

    Very highly recommended.

  5. The 1970 performance on disc 1 is probably the best show on here. They're practically kids!! Plant is almost shy when he talks to the audience and is much less flamboyant or polished than just a few years later at Madison Square Garden and Earls Court. Oh, but his powers are there. And dig the sideburns. They look like a garage band except that even at this early point in their career they're still so f***ing high-octane, they're more like a force of nature than anything born of a garage. Their stage attire (if you can call it that) is just the kind of ordinary clothes you might wear to the park (no dragon zoSo pants or open shirts) on a fine London afternoon (in 1970). But lurking beneath the plain exterior is the beast that was Led Zeppelin. It's incredible to watch. Without the polish and confidance of a few years under their belt and covering only stuff from the first and second album they are STILL the meanest sounding garage band this and that side of the Atlantic. Filmed in London, this is VINTAGE Zeppelin before they were REALLY big. For true Zepp fans, priceless. Their look, sound and stage show here are noticably different from Song Remains the Same. 1970 is already a vintage-like-fine-wine year for most filmed rock n roll shows and rock music in general, but to see Zeppelin doing it that year is to witness a kind of "creme de la creme" in the fledgling world of heavy metal, with it's roots still deep in the previous few decades of folk and blues whilst giving new definition to the word 'rock n roll'. Reviewers who don't appreciate this show either don't care for early 70s rock, or don't KNOW early 70s rock. This stuff is the witches brew. This is the band a year after their first album, a year after Woodstock, and the same year Janis and Jimi died. What a point in the history of music. The clarity of the sound and picture on this show make it a real treat for Zepp fans who get a chance to step back in time to see what they were doing whilst we were in diapers, or roaming around in the ether.
