1 comments about Complete Sounds of Tranquility.
- Great buy here--four cd's with favorite classical tunes mixed with the sounds of the ocean. CD 1--Musical Sea of Tranquility includes harp, 25 melodies. CD 2--Romantic Sea of Tranquility, with acoustic guitar and 25 more tunes. CD 3--Seductive Sea of Tranquility, saxophone. CD 4--Calming Sea of Tranquility, Woodwind and Guitar. Each cd offers relaxation music but with different instrumentation to suit your mood. Some of the tunes are classical and some are folk tunes like "My Old Kentucky Home."

- I was very disappointed with this collection. I knew there would be nature sounds in addition to the music. However, I expected them to be soft in the background. It was hard for me to listen to the entire series because the leaves crunching and cows munching greatly overpowered the music. I'm glad I didn't pay much for this collection.

1 comments about Box of Pure Nature.
- I bought this album a couple of days ago. It's definitely not what I expected, but not too bad overall. The one thing I have to say about it is, for an album entitled "Pure Nature," it contains too much synthesized music and not enough nature sounds. Plus, a lot of the songs have really annoying, high-pitched bird noises. Are those the only bird noises they could come up with? This music is, for the most part, very relaxing, except for the songs with the annoying bird noises. There is a definite lack of variety in the music, however. Most of the songs sound the same for the most part. If this happens to be your favorite style of music, you might enjoy this. Since I prefer songs that are generally more upbeat, perhaps I don't appreciate it as much as others would. Had I known what it sounded like before I bought it, I don't think I would have. But overall, this album is not too bad, especially considering the cost. I have seen others spend a lot more money on one CD with music much worse than this. So, for the price, it's really not too bad, especially if you enjoy this type of music.

5 comments about Symphonies of the Planets.
- I first happened on two of the set at a bookstore, and fell in love with them on first listen. I looked high and low for the rest of the volumes for some time, and it was with great pleasure that I discovered the rest were available through CD Now (now Amazon).
However, anyone who pays $150 for the box set is proving P.T. Barnum right. You can buy each of the discs separately for a total of less than $30, right here on Amazon.
- Like the reviewer below, I also discovered Discs #1 and #5 by accident while searching through a clearance bin at a local music store. I bought them out of curiosity, having already bought a similar CD called "Songs of the Galaxies" by Dr Fiorella Terenzi about a year earlier. I was immediately swept away by the ethereal sounds captured on these CD,s. Disc #1 features a slow, hypnotic collage of low, bell-like tones droning behind some sort of "solar wind", while Disc #5 sounds almost as if it were recorded underwater, with waves of low, bubbling noises in the foreground, backed with what sound eerily like dolphin cries.
These discs are wonderful for meditation, and make for fascinating listening. My only complaint about the individual Discs, is that the liner notes don't tell you exactly which planet you're listening to. Jupiter? Neptune? The rings of Saturn? The liner notes of both discs are identical, and only give general information about "how" the recordings were made. Maybe the Boxed-Set had more specific details, but I wouldn't know. I recently discovered and announcement at BODY-MIND.com that the Boxed Set is finally going to be re-released, along with a 6th disc called "Celestial Love Songs" This website also has information about other, similar CD's available from NASA. In the meantime, I have discovered that used copies of all of the other individual discs of the "Symphonies of the Planets" series can be found at the AMAZON.com Marketplace sellers. After a quick search the other day, I was able to find and order Discs #2, #3 and #4, for less than $20. I'm eagerly waiting by my mailbox...
- I happened upon disc #1 & disc #5 in a thrift store (looking for computer CD Roms). Everything was a bit pricey for used or previously owned software, but there they were for [$$$] each. I read the cover, checked the condition of the discs and was amazed that the most valuable thing on the shelf had the lowest price tag! I got them home and listened and ... this is life. It is wonderful and never to be repeated, it is life in the universe as a living thing happening LIVE. Sort of like my heart beating right now; the beat of this moment has it's life now. While there will be other beats each one has it's own moment. A ray of the sun will not be repeated because it is real. Yes, it would be nice if these recordings were re-released. Or for that matter if more were recorded. However, it would seem that just anybody is not going to place value on these recordings. The market may be quite slim. This is cutting edge priceless material. I wish all interested, including myself ( must find disc #'s 2,3 & 4 ) success in finding these discs. Savor the experience!!!
- "But how could there be sound recorded in space, there is no atmosphere?" I protested, after my Pro Tools teacher explained the CD she was about the put into the CD changer. We needed "space sounds" for a project we were working on in our Pro Tools audio engineering class.
She pressed play, and a look of amazement and awe came over every students' face. It's other worldy, peaceful, tranquil. NASA (the science purists they are) even said something in the liner notes about the tranquil effects the "music" has. I imagined all the people with headsets on in the control room sitting with their legs crossed, yoga style, meditating to the sounds coming through the plasma wave recorders. Get the box set!
- i have heard volumes 1, 3 and 5.
some of the most beautiful sounds i have ever heard. though the information regarding exactly how these sounds were made audible is more than a little spotty, the thought that these are naturally (not to mention perpetually) ocurring sounds is staggering. really lush, calming, aligning sounds. more engaging than most ambient music i've heard (from someone who listens to eno, aphex twin, the orb, amp, etcetcetc, and has one album to their name, that's saying quite a lot). these should really be re-issued, with generous accompanying notes. don't pass them up if they come your way. e

5 comments about Brainwave Journey.
- I have several of Dr. Thompson's CD programs, and this is BY FAR the best. These CDs are perfect for improving creativity, inner peace, mood, focus, stress levels and relaxation. Though I typically prefer instrumental brainwave entrainment CDs, the power of the spoken words and the way they are presented in this collection seem to be far more effective. These CDs have produced fantastic results in my life.
- I believe some of the previous reviewers have missed the boat in understanding these CD's. They are for the purpose of self-hypnosis. That "irritating patter" of voice is designed to implant positive concepts deep in the core of your subconscious to assist you in life. But you have to be able to "let go" in order for it to work. If all you hear is the patter, you're not allowing it to work. If you want relaxation and rejuvenation, Thompson's Brainwave Suite is excellent. But if you want to make changes in your life, Brainwave Journey can really help. Since I've been listening to Dr. Thompson's works, I am no longer stressed out and angry in traffic; I'm more effective at work and calmer at home.
- It is a journey that will be very difficult to forget.Even if you never tried meditation before listen to this. All you have to do is close your eyes and relax very soon you are going to find yourself in a world of sounds combined with colorfull pictures.
I believe it is worthy to eperience it.
- UNREAL! This was my first REAL introduction to this
form of relaxation. Although I didn't find tapes 1,3 & 4 to be as enjoyable as Cassette 2 (Journey of the Mind) I lay on the floor with my eyes closed and experienced euphoria like I have never thought possible thru music. If anyone had walked in they would have thought I was nuts, lying there with a big happy cheesy grin, revelling in my latest musical DISCOVERY BRAVO BRAVO! We could all use a 30 minute relaxation breather EVERY DAY! Loved it!
- As an owner of Thompson's Brainwave Suite, I am quite disappointed in Brainwave Journey. The music and sounds are outstanding, but the voice track is annoying and distracting.
The voice is a strange, electronic babble. This is unfortunate, and unnessary. The music could stand alone to inspire your mind to travel into a relaxed, positive mental journey. My frustration grew intense after a couple of months that I gave away this box set, and have since replaced it with some wonderful collections by Hearts of Space.
