1 comments about Sacred Spa Music Series.

  1. As I've said before, the folks at Real Music do an especially good job of putting compilations together. The Sacred Spa Music Series Boxed Set consists of three CDs which are also available individually, and which are made up of the most soothing and relaxing tracks from previously released albums. The titles of the individual CDs are "Letting the World Go By", "Wrapped in Stillness", and "Quiet Days".The collection is designed to promote and enhance the healing of "our mental, emotional, and spiritual selves". The pace is leisurely, and the sounds wash over the listener like a cozy blanket or the warmth of the springtime sun. Featured artists include 2002, Kevin Kern, Paul Machlis, Bernard L'Hoir, Danny Wright, the late Hilary Stagg, Govi, Michael Hoppe, and Tim Wheater. While calming and quiet, most of the pieces have enough sparkle to keep the albums very interesting in the foreground as well as creating a lovely backdrop for other activities or simply unwinding. Piano, harp, flute, and keyboards make up most of the instrumentation. This a wonderful collection, and I highly recommend it for music to unwind to or simply to pamper yourself a little.

  1. The nature sounds are ok but somehow they dont feel natural. The streams sound rather like computer generated.

  1. As a fellow composer, performer and musician, I am deeply moved by your marvelous works. They no doubt come from deep within your soul just as all great artists have discovered as they followed their hearts. I commend your efforts and wish you every success.

  2. This 2-CD set offers a sampling of the innovative and varied work of saxophonist Paul winter, the Paul Winter Consort, and various colleagues they've recorded with through the decades. The collection itself is well-chosen and well-arranged, with a wonderful energy about it that builds and carries, sings and soars, and constantly reinvents itself. Elements of jazz, ethnic and chamber music blend into styles all their own, defying categorization to the point that new terms have had to be invented over the years for the Winter consort's repertoire, such as "world chamber music" and "cathedral blues". What I like most about Paul Winter's recordings are the seamless combinations of instruments and sounds from strikingly different cultures and musical styles. I mean, where else can you hear a trio for Uilleann pipes, soprano saxophone and the pipe organ of the world's largest cathedral? An unlikely combination, and yet it works beautifully in the hands of these talented improvisational masters, sensitive enough both to their own instruments and to each other's that they are easily able to stretch limits and blur boundaries. On these recordings, many other instrumentalists mix and match their talents as well: players of jazz staples like guitar, piano, bass and drums; classical masters of cello, flute, oboe and French horn; vocalists; and players of bansuri flute, tanpura, and an array of world percussion. The most unusual of all the musical collaborators would have to be the whales and wolves, whose recorded voices don't just add background ambience but actually create melodies to which harmony, descant and rhythm are then added for a truly unique and pleasing effect. It is amazing how well Winter's fluid soprano saxophone can mimic and complement the calls of both animals. Ultimately, however, this is not music that merely seeks to be unusual; it is eminently listenable--ranging in tone from rousingly joyous to calming and gently transporting. Even better, these are musical compositions--constantly adding layers and moods, blending new elements in and out, never just boring repetitions of simple riffs and phrases. Do yourself a favor and check out Paul Winter and friends! They are masters of their craft, continually forging new frontiers. This collection of their work is a good place to start; it has power, depth, and will surely whet your appetite for more!

  1. I have always enjoyed Delerium music and when I saw that this CD came with a Bonus Videos I was stoked. I love being able to have great visuals with great music. So when this CD arrived I went strait to the DVD player and put the Bonus disc in.
    Didn't work...

To my surprise I found out that I have to play this on my computer to watch the videos and must be linked to the internet.
I paid an extra 5 dollars to be able to watch something via internet when I can just go strait to Youtube and see the same thing.

This is not a bad rating because of the music, love the music. Just pissed about the viewing format of the videos.

  2. I bought this CD out of curiosity that there could be such a divergence of opinion about the music of a group I enjoy a lot.

It's true that the songs have the feel of popular music, which I don't listen to. One or two of the songs border on what I will tolerate in sweet sixths and over production. ("Magic" is an example, complete with fairly trite lyrics).

But the outstandingly strong songs her vastly outnumber and outpower the weak. I think "After All" and "Run for It" are a couple of the most interesting songs musically I've heard in 2007. Leigh Nash on "Run for It" is a real discovery, and from my research on her, I don't think she's ever done better.

On the whole, Chimera has some of the most imaginative music on it that I have in my Library, which includes past Delirium CDs that lean much more toward ambient electronic. As far as the genre "pop electronica-Female Vocalist" goes, this is close to the peak.

  3. Chimera is my favorite Deleruim album; I am flabbergasted by the reviews who give it one star. I know everyone has different taste but really, if you hate it this much then maybe you shouldn't be listening to it...

The richness and electrifying variety of songs and melodies here is enough to satisfy my crankiest hunger for good music. After a few listens I was still amazed how every song seemed to sound even better than the last, and this feeling pretty much continued until the end of the disc. For those who like Enigma, Oakenfold, Orbital, Zero 7, Tiesto, Enya and the likes this will be a nice new addition to the new age/electronic/chill out genre. Delerium is hard to pin point; their style is a mélange of soundscapes, ethereal ambient, some dance, pop and electronic.

There are many mystical elements to this album; chants and monks, piano that sounds like a silver rain trickling down, exotic languages, pipes and the whole shebang as swirls of music filter trough the breathy vocals. When listening to Chimera one minute I feel like a monk in a medieval sanctuary and the next minute as if I was on a dance floor with lasers and lights shimmering on me, often all within one song.

    - Kasia S.

  4. It's good, but there's a lot of Delerium's stuff I'd recommend before this one.

  5. If this doesn't wake your spirit
then nothing will. I do recommend
you give this music a try....you will
    be sold. Recommended highly.

  1. I absolutely love listening to each CD in this collection!! The 4 CDs not only have their own unique style of music, but the individual songs do, too. It's a wonderful New Age collection and I'm thrilled to be able to buy it at such a minimal price!

  2. There are four discs that come in this collection. They are Atlantis, Stonehenge, Incas and Pharaohs. Each discs is different in style of composing and "instruments" used. I don't know if the instruments are electronic or if some are actual musical instruments. Some of the songs get lengthy (6 minutes or over) and sometimes I was annoyed by the sudden "jazzy" instrumentation that ruined a serene moment in the music. It is said that music like this tends to sound all the same after a while, but I think that each disc and each song for that matter has its own personality. I recommend this collection for people who are more used to (and like) the New Age music genre, or who like instrumental music. However, people who are not used to New Age or instrumental music may not like this album, so depending upon your likes and dislikes and your previous musical experiences, you'll have to decide for yourself. Personally, I liked the collection and have purchased another collection of the same "brand" (although I didn't like it hardly as much as I liked this one, but that's another story).

  3. This CD is the best; I liked every track. If your a fan of new age music; then, this is the Cd you must buy. The Cd covers the cultures of ancient Egypt, the Stonehenge mystery, the lose city of Atlantis and the culture of the Incas--all for a very low price. Some of the music is slow, while others are kinda fast.

5 comments about ECHOES OF NATURE: The Natural Sounds Of The Wilderness, Part 1 (5 CDs).

  1. This is a great buy. The CDs cost under $6.00 apiece in this collection. I play them in a loop in the main living area of my house, and I play them all night for my bird and to mute outside noises that alarm my dogs and set them to barking.

  2. I have been sampling nature sounds and CD's for several years now, looking for a soothing backdrop that will help me to relax and sleep that won't irritate my sound sensitive husband. His complaint about the others is that they are electronically created, not true nature sounds. Echoes of Nature is actual recordings from nature and you can hear the difference. It is very sensitively edited and produced so that you feel that you are in nature. There is lots of space between sounds, it is not crowded and over stimulating. Even my husband asks me to put it on. I use it also in the waiting room of my office and people enjoy the tranquil ambience it creates. I highly recommend this.

  3. not what i expected. more jungle sounds than anything. I wanted rain, crickets, and storms

  4. When it comes to nature cd's, less is more to my ears. So often, including here it seems, the engineer seems to think that more is more, the more sounds they can fit in the mix, the better. What about non-distrcipt ambient sound from the forest? That seems to me the best and most relaxing part.

The sound of running water is highly unrealistic as well. For my ears, too busy for a natural sounding cd. For the generous price, you might want to come to that conclusion yourself.

  5. Finally. Nature sounds alone. Generally, nature is drowned out by boring "elevator music". Not in this case. The CD's contain actual nature sounds. I find these CD's great to listen to while at work. Very relaxing!
