- I love this soundtrack. The songs sound just like they do in the movie, except that at last you get to hear "One Last Kiss" all the way to the end! Yay!
- Was so happy to see this CD reissued! Especially the additional music and photos! The opening and closing numbers are the best! Ann Margret singing the title song was a fantasy for so many young men in the 60's! There will never be a better performance on film!
- I love this soundtrack! it's great for kids and adults all the like. the songs are funny and have good catchy beats to them.
- This is still such a classic and so much fun!
- I always enjoyed the film version of "Birdie" as well as the soundtrack and now this reissue includes "The Sultans Ballet" where Janet Leigh bites off more than she can chew when she invites a group of Sultans(Shriners) to dance. There are a couple of minor inclusions including "We Love You Conrad" and the rehearsal of "One Last Kiss" My only question is why didnt they use the complete version of "A Lot of Livin To Do" Even with the additional tracks the CD clocks in at 46 minutes so space wasn't a problem. It's quite understandable why the Russian Ballet was not included since it would be out of place on an otherwise perky and bright score.
While "Bye Bye Birdie" may not be one of the best scores it is zesty and cheerful to listen to on a gloomy day and as one of the numbers suggests it helps you to "Put On A Happy Face"

- I love this CD. It is so wonderful to listen to when you want to unwind after a long day or sitting with someone you love discussing the day. This will be one of my favorites for a long, long time.
- Simply put, I adore this collection. Like most people, I have a few Tony Bennett CD's in my collection. I listen to them at various times, but until I found this one, I wouldn't say I am a serious fan; you just have to like a man who works so hard to entertain and share his joy of life. But, this CD is different. It's much more intimate and poignant. It's almost as if you have come across Mr. Bennett singing to himself for his own enjoyment. These are songs he'd sing around the house or while he's alone. As he matures through life, we've had the pleasure of being part of that journey and with this CD, we see the depth of his personality and the simplicity of his approach to serious things. It's a master class in how the most complex things can be made joyously simple in the hands of a true master. Thank you, Tony.
- The Art Of Romance is a fine Tony Bennett CD of him singing his heart out on these great and classic love songs. The quality of the sound is excellent; and the artwork is very thoughtfully done. This is a wonderful CD for Tony's fans; and it makes a great starter CD for people new to Tony's artistry.
The CD starts with Tony Bennett singing so well on "Close Enough For Love;" he massages the lyrics to this song and this is anything but elevator music! Tony never misses a beat and despite his age he truly sounds as good as he ever did. "Close Enough For Love" is an excellent starting tune for this album and I predict you'll like it very much. "All In Fun" is a poignant love song with Tony singing a number of somewhat staccato notes to make this number a special one; the elegant piano arrangement is very well done and it never takes the spotlight away from Tony--great! Tony Bennett is in his true element here; he sings these ballads with lots of feeling and that's grand.
"Where Do You Start" has Tony squarely in the spotlight--and that's OK by me! I really like "Where Do You Start;" and the lush musical arrangement complements Tony's singing to perfection. "I Remember You" is a tune that shines so brightly when Tony delivers it with this stunning arrangement; it moves a little bit slower than I'm used to--but make no mistake about it, Tony does this with panache and it's all very impressive.
"All For You" showcases Tony's incredible voice; it ahs deepened a bit with time but his voice is still quite good and "All For You" is easily a major highlight of this album. Tony performs "All For You" with all his heart and soul and just one listen proves it. "The Best Man" gets a jazzy, somewhat upbeat melody and Tony swings and sways brightly as he sings this without a superfluous note! "The Best Man" tells a story that isn't always so happy but the song is still very good and great to hear.
"Don't Like Goodbyes" has a very lush musical arrangement that helps make this number a great one; and Tony aces this easily. Of course, we know that it really wasn't so easy--Tony's talents always carried him through and he could make it look easy because he was so naturally gifted. There's also a song called "Being Alive;" "Being Alive" isn't exactly my favorite tune on this album but it does work well.
The CD ends very strong with Tony Bennett performing "Gone With The Wind." "Gone With The Wind" comes from the movie of the same name and it makes a stunning conclusion to this album. Wow!
Tony Bennett is one of the very best male vocalists we've ever seen; and this CD will be a very big plus for his fans. Thank you, Tony!
- I am a fan of Tony's work and decided my birthday gift to myself would be a CD and his book. both are wonderful and thoughtful a fantastic purchase.
- I'm 44 years old, too young to represent his traditional fans, but I am proud to say that Tony Bennett is one of my favorites. This is a fun album, and you will find yourself easiliy humming along with the lyrics.
Check out, "THE BEST MAN". It's like listening to your buddy tell a sob sorry,... but to music (and in Tony Bennett style).
Amazon's great price and quick delivery sealed the deal on this jewel.

5 comments about Higher Ground.
- As a student of music, and particularly of the female voice, I own a wide range of music that I study, simply to understand the appeal of various styles and sounds. This is one that was recommended, and I bought it (cheap & used, thank God) to study.
Personally, Barbara's voice drives me up the wall. Her forced, unnatural vibrato that is produced in the back of her throat, her melodramatic emphasis of every stinking line, and her miserable attempt at Sinatra-esque phrasing (hesitating a moment before coming in on the phrase). She has some of the most predictable phrasing and ornaments ever known to womankind.
I actually love several of these songs, including "On Holy Ground", and I am annoyed that she tried to recreate this track. Barbara, only the "alternative" lifestyles like you! And those who like fake, contrived emotions.
YUCK! She only avoided a "1" because she has somehow managed to make a name for herself, and that deserves some credit.
- This album is the best album from Barabara in YEARS. Inspirational, and depply spiritual, it will be uplift you in a way that few albums can. Barabara is in her element here, and it shows
- Released in 1997 just in time for Christmas, this was actually Barbra Streisand's most successful proper album since the Broadway Album. It debuted at #1, and went triple platinum. However, I cannot honestly say this is one of her best albums. Yes, it did very well, but that can easily be contributed to her teaming with Celine Dion on a song, as she was the most popular singer in the world at that time, as well as appearing on the highly popular Oprah and Rosie O'Donnell talk shows to promote it.
The beginning of the album isn't too terrible, with not only the true highlight, "Tell Him," (one of the only songs I listen to on this album) being in the mix, but also lovely songs such as "At the Same Time," "On Holy Ground," and "Higher Ground" being played in the process. Many of the songs also have a feeling of uplift in them, so that if you listen at a time you're down or worried about something, you'll feel at least a little better afterwards.
However, there are plenty of flaws to add to the mix as well. First off, like her 70s album Lazy Afternoon, the songs, while pleasant to the ears, all sound the same, making the tracks forgettable music that just blends in the background. Second, her voice was not at its greatest on here, which is truly evident on "Tell Him." Celine is actually singing over her at many times in the song. Finally, "Tell Him" aside, this is not music that will appeal to everyone, since there are many people out there not religious or spiritual who can be put off by this stuff.
In short, this is more for the hardcore Barbra Streisand fans than the general public or those curious about her music. If you want the "Tell Him" song only, you'd probably be happier with a greatest hits or Celine Dion's Let's Talk About Love album, released around the same time. At her worst, Barbra's better than many at their best, and while she's done worst than this, it doesn't make it much more appetizing.
- Higher Ground has some of the most inspirational, thought provoking songs that has aided in my growth and development as a young woman. This is my first piece of Barbra Streisand's and I look forward to purchasing more of her music.
- I bought this CD when it first came out 10 years ago and I still love it. First class Barbra.

- I can't begin to say how much pleasure this album has given me over the years. The extraordinary pairing of Harry Nilsson and arranger Gordon Jenkins makes for a record that I still find amazing even after dozens of listens. Gordon Jenkins is a master arranger (mostly for Sinatra)and he created orchestrations that perfectly compliment Harry's voice (even the keys are just right). Harry was obviously inspired by what was going on behind him as his singing is virtuoso.
The remastering adds a bit of clarity in the vocals and the orchestra balance is an improvment over the original CD release.
This album is a timeless classic and if you love the tin pan alley / American songbook, then this is a disc for you.
- I was aware of Harry Nilsson from the beginning of his career. He was way ahead of the curve and somewhat misunderstood and underappreciated in his time.
Rod Stewart, especially, has mined what we call the "Great American Songbook" in 4 albums; Barry Manilow and other have done that in recent years, too... rediscover these songwriters who toiled in the 20s, 30 & 40s.
Well, Nilsson was the first of the rock n roll era musicians to record an album of standards. When it first came out, it was a complete departure from his previous work, and as such, was not particularly well received at the time. Critics liked it and it was well reviewed, but it did not sell all that well.
When I found out it was re-released on CD, I jumped... my vinyl copy of this gem is totally worn out. For these 20 year old ears in 1973, it was the first time I had heard these songs. Nilsson was decades ahead of his time in recording standards.
His performaces here are terrific; great singing - this is no novelty album. It is a masterpiece.
- WHAT A FABULOUS CD...I'VE LISTENED TO THESE OLD CLASSIC LOVE SONGS FROM DOZENS OF ARTISTS BUT THIS IS "THE BEST"....THE EMOTION OF ROMANCE IN THESE SONGS COMES THROUGH LOUD AND CLEAR. HIS VOICE IS TREMDOUSLY SOOTHING...YOU WON'T BE SORRY YOU INVESTED IN THIS ONE...
- Oh how we miss you Harry. Who knew he was setting a precedent, way back then. Others have followed, from Ronstadt to Rod, but none with such charm. His voice was a good as ever, and his fearless and free command of the possibilities in a melody - enchanting. Sweet music.
- This guy Nilsson was the best writer/arranger, this CD is so good you can listen over and over and not get tired of hearing it. Arrangements are perfect, smooth, listening is easy. Everyone I've given it to loves it.

- The Dame is as good at seventy as ever before.
Her voice is perhaps even better; it's rich and she knows how to use it.
The beat of the drums in the selections fit the mood, but it's for kids.
Come on, Shirley, we are all adults now. We know you can do sexy, so do it. Forget the sound effects: you don't need them. You are good enough without them. Do more singing, and less humming.
- ANY Bassey fan must own this! If you can't believe this 70+ year old woman can still sing, you must see her video for "Party Started" on YouTube! She can still deliver a powerful voice. The reversions and remixes on this album are excellent. Where else can a Bond fan hear her sing "You Only Live Twice"??
- I'm, very disappointed with the orchestra who performed at this latest CD of Ms. Shirley Bassey compared to her old CDs.
- Well, okay. I'm a fan. I picked this up knowing I'd enjoy it but I NEVER, EVER expected I'd be hit by such a lush, complex and incredible set. At once it is wholly familiar yet completely fresh. I'm amazed by the utter brilliance of those involved, especially Dame Bassey who has managed to re-interpret some of her classic recordings and take on some notable songs by other artists and make it work like only a woman at the top of her game can. She has only enhanced her legacy with this offering and you can't miss by adding it to your collection. Trust me, this is a stroke of genius and it's clear she is in a class all by herself. Really, I'm stunned at how good this is.
- Love it,Love it,A new spin on some older songs.
Stand out track. "The Living Tree"

5 comments about Annie (1999 Television Film).
- This may be heresy, but this version of ANNIE is far superior to the over-blown 1982 film. It makes only minimal changes to the plot of the original stage show, and keeps most of the original songs; the ones it leaves out ("Annie," "You Won't Be an Orphan for Long," and "Getting a New Deal for Christmas" were my least favorite songs in the stage show; however, I do wish they hadn't cut the sarcastic "We'd Like to Thank You, Herbert Hoover," but I digress...). Also, there are a handful of songs on here that are BETTER than the OBC: "I Think I'm Going to Like It Here" (Audra MacDonald is the BEST Grace Ferrel to date, and she rocks this song), "NYC" (Audra MacDonald, Victor Garber, and Andrea McArdle, the original Annie, as the Star to Be - can't go wrong!), "Easy Street" (Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming simply shine as Lily and Rooster, respectively). Also wonderful are the orchestrations to this production: they are very 1930s-esque and very snappy as a result. The cast is the main reason to own this album: assembled of primarily veteran and Tony Award-winning actors (Chenoweth, Cumming, MacDonald and Garber) who out-sing the 1982 cast, for the most part (except for Carol Burnett, they truly shine. As Annie, Alicia Morton is very good, and although she doesn't have a refined-belt like McArdle did, her youthful singing voice makes here the most genuine Annie I have seen. As Ms. Hannigan, Kathy Bates is surprising: who knew she could sing? Although Dorothy Loudon will always be the best Hannigan and Carol Burnett the most remembered, Bates makes the character her own and gives her a mentally-unstable and acidic edge that is great fun to watch and hear. All in all, wonderful cast and wonderful album!
- Love the TV movie! Especially love the TV-version soundtrack! A truly enjoyable, uplifting experience with a great cast! Whether you've seen the movie or not, you'll enjoy this soundtrack. It will lift your spirits to a whole new level. One of my top-ten favorite soundtracks, and I've collected hundreds! I highly recommend this for anyone at any age. Absolutely love it!
- Andrea McArdle can never be replaced, and though this movie's version plays closer to the musical, I feel that if you want a timeless classic cd of this wonderful musical, get either the Original Broadway cast recording or the 1982 Aileen Quinn film soundtrack. Though the 1982 film wasn't closest to the musical, the singing was better in some respects. Alicia Morton was good but sounded too high pitched and young for an 11 year old Annie. While Aileen and Andrea played Annie as a normal down to Earth kid, Alicia seemed to be trying to sound like a pop star. I feel that you should most certaintly get the Original or the 1982 version if you want a good recording, because the 1999 one cannot compare aside from decent performances by the adults.
- The soundtrack is pretty good, but the movie sucks. Alicia Morton has a little girl vioce, not that its a bad thing. Aileen Quinn, the older Annie, had a more mature vioce. Both very different but absoulutely brilliant in their own style.
- I was in a version of this 2 years ago. I LOVED being in it!! I was an orphan, it was so fun. I had the origional movie version of this movie. But when I saw this version in store and I had to own it. That day I watched it and didn't relly like the changes they made but the music and singing was great! I saw this recording in WalMart and HAD to have it!!! So I bought it and listined to it the second I got home. I just melted when the girl for Annie sang "Tomorrow." This is probly even better than the origional Broadway and Movie. Put together!!!! I LOVED THIS ROCORDING!!!!!! Victor Gardor needs a little work on "Somthing Was Missing" the origional guy from the Broadway recording is MUCH better. But besides that this recording was GREAT. I achual movie is bad, but the recording is SUPERCALAFRAGOLISTEXOIALIDOCOUS!!!!!!!!!!

- If you want to feel happy, this is a great choice. Beginning to end, it's great to listen to over and over. If you've seen the movie or even the play, you really need this one. Dolly Parton is really talented, and you can almost believe she's running the "Chicken Ranch."
- The CD was great. We needed to learn the music, and it arrived quickly, and was perfect! Very enjoyable.
- I usually hate musicals. However, I really enjoy the generally fun atmosphere of the movie.
- This CD is a musical soundtrack. It has some wonderful songs. My favorite is "Hard Candy Christmas".
- I order this CD from Amazon and in only days did I get it. Easy, fast and CD was in in new condition. The shipping was to much and will look for other companyies to buy from. They stand behind there items but again shipping from Amzon and other seller is way above cost. It apears that they all are makeing large profits on shipping.

5 comments about The Broadway Album.
- The Broadway Album by Barbra Streisand is clearly one of her very best. Barbra really opens up on this album and belts out some of the greatest Broadway show tunes ever written. The sound quality is great and the artwork is very well done.
"Putting It Together" starts the CD with Barbra singing her heart out on this number; she handles difficult tempo and key changes like the great chanteuse she always was and still remains! "If I Loved You" from Carousel features Barbra front and center--and that's OK by me! The melody is very pretty and it makes great use of the strings. Barbra's voice is in excellent form--her voice is rich, warm and rather vibrant. Terrific! Similarly, there's another coup for Streisand when she sings "Something's Coming." This magnificent ballad from West Side Story really shines like new when this lady sings it! Barbra again handles the lyrics effortlessly; the key and tempo changes never seem to faze her in the slightest. I'm very impressed!
"Not While I'm Around" comes from Sweeney Todd; and Barbra gives this the royal treatment as she sings this to perfection--and beyond! The piano arrangement is especially elegant and it all holds its own very well.
There's a very grand medley of hits from The King And I; listen for Barbra to do great justice to this stage play with her medley of "I Have Dreamed/We Kiss In A Shadow/Something Wonderful." This medley is a fine tribute to a classic Broadway play that truly remains one of the very best of all time! Barbra does this to perfection--and beyond! I love it.
"Adelaide's Lament" comes from Guys And Dolls; this tune always makes me laugh a bit because it's just that type of song. Although Adelaide is somewhat sad it's just a playful tune in its own way. Barbra sings this with panache and her accent is flawless. Barbra makes "Adelaide's Lament" a huge highlight of this album. In addition, "Send In The Clowns" from A Little Night Music gets one of its best treatments ever when the great Barbra Streisand delivers this without a superfluous note.
"Can't Help Lovin' That Man" again showcases Barbra's vocals squarely front and center--I really like "can't Help Lovin' That Man" a whole lot. This musical arrangement is very well done, too. "I Loves You Porgy/Porgy, I's Your Woman Now (Bess, You Is My Woman Now)" comes from Porgy And Bess; and yet again Barbra Streisand delivers this with panache! Great! The album ends with Barbra singing "Somewhere" from West Side Story; this truly is as grand as all the other reviewers say it is; you'll love every second of it!
The Broadway Album really showcases Barbra Streisand's singular vocal qualities. Her fans will definitely want this one for their collections; and people who like show tunes will want this album as well.
- This is an album that Barbra Streisand famously had trouble making in the 1980s, with her last album, Emotions, performing poorly and the more pop-oriented music getting all the sales. But like only Barbra can, she stuck to her guns and got her album produced and released, only for it to be not only one of her most successful albums, but possibly the best of her discography.
Every song on this album belong here, and not only does Streisand make it her own, but she makes you forget these are songs meant for the theatre. She sounds amazing, but does not project her voice in a way that labels the music as purely for Broadway. Admittedly, some of this is due to the fact that she has had the lyrics rewritten for her on some occasions, but that is only a minor thing.
She sings all sorts of great songs on here, from the funny ("Adelaide's Lament"), personal ("Putting it Together"), somber ("Send in the Clowns"), sentimental ("Not While I'm Around"), and of course the big finish ("Somewhere"). What makes her recording of these so great is that she makes them pop music, and also makes them more accessible to those who either don't follow theatre well, or just don't care for it.
Since this album, she has not been able to top her accomplishment. Even some of her best albums sound mediocre compared to this. This is a must have album for everybody, fans and non-fans alike.
- C. Kenneth Burkholder, who via an understanding was at the time of the original release of this was Barbra's prospectve father-in-law and whose death has occurred, said of this "If I Loved You", "That's nice." The tragicomic rendition of part of Adelaide fascinatingly points out some dangers of stripping for pay.
Just past the beginning of creating "What Times Are," a musical by (a) pacifist(s) as well as an adaptation of my play "What Time Is It, Neil Armstrong?," which is a sequel to my novel "How Did That Sun Get Out," I am inspired by the yearning apparent in "The Broadway Album"--a yearning not for perfection but for worthwhile ways for people all over the earth and in space to spend time.
- I bought the CD to replace my worn-out cassette tape, and I was pleased to find it has one more track -- Adelaide's Lament -- which I enjoyed. Nice to have another comic song to balance out the love songs. She brings out the beauty of these lovely tunes.
- Barbra is the number one female ballad singer of all time. No one has her range of feeling, the sheer lyric power of her voice, her sometimes exaggerated but often poignant power to dramatically express feeling. She can create the chill down the spine with a small trill or with a wild unexpected crescendo. 'Broadway' is her first home, and acting a song as she sings it comes natural to her.
This is one of her finest albums.

5 comments about Jesus Christ Superstar.
- This is the best of the JCS albums - the original with its funk still in tact.
- This is the ORIGINAL "Jesus Christ Superstar"..The one that upset legions of people because "There is no resurrection !"......"Judas is more compassionate than Christ"...."Mary Magdelene is portrayed as a prostitute"...."Jesus questions God in Gethsemane (blasphemy)"... Ian Gillan (a rock and roll singer as Christ?)...."members of Joe Cocker's Grease Band (known for alcohol and drug extravaganzas) as back-up musicians "... Yeah , I remember all the negativity that surrounded this recording in 1970 , but it still remains the BEST "Jesus Christ Superstar" ever...PERIOD ! Having listened to "Gethsemane" over 500 times , I still get shivers when Gillan emotes "Why must I die ?" regardless of your religious inclinations , THIS MUST BE HEARD !
- Read on and you'll see a bunch of reviews that trumpet Ian Gillan's Jesus over Ted Neeley's (film version). I like them both. However, I think that Carl Anderson (film version) is the ultimate Judas. Saw him and Ted Neeley live in a touring revival production in the early nineties. Neeley was OK from a nostalgic point of view - not as good as in the film, but Anderson just stole the show. He was every bit as charismatic and nimble as in the film, and his singing was just as powerful and heart-wrenching. Might as well buy both versions. They're both great in their own ways :-)
- Written and first performed in the time of Andy Warhol and Coca Cola's "I'd like to teach the world to sing" advertisement, Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber's perhaps greatest work was more than just a musical story of the life of Jesus, although we can easily forget that now. It was, much like a Warhol, a way of speaking to that very vanilla heart of whitebread America. It was taking our most sacred myth and rendering it in the language of the people, and bringing it out of the refuge of the church and placing it on display right along with Coke, Pepsi, Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monroe, and all the great icons of the Western World, and subjecting it to the same overexposure and banality.
Sir Weber smashed that boundary between sacred and profane with this work portraying Jesus and the 12 disciples as a bunch of squabbling hippies, which were not in short supply in those days; the days when John Lennon made the famous remark that the Beatles were now "bigger than Jesus." Read the libretto of this work, and then read Tom Wolf's "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Tests" if you disagree.
But perhaps the story of Jesus deserved and needed to be placed in the same marketplace of ideas that Coca Cola and Led Zeppelin lived in. Whether this was right or wrong, whether the story of Jesus deserved to be subjected to the same appreciation as a Dr. Pepper ad is not something I will debate -- much. I just know that's what happened. Jesus went Platinum, just like Kiss, just like the Beatles, and Jesus Christ complaining to the Lord that "You're far too keen on where and how but not so hot on why" has been forever burned onto my consciousness. I grew up with JCS, and I've known every word and note by heart and have ever since I was 12 or so.
So JCS, like The Lord of The Rings, The Beatles or "Stairway to Heaven," is yet another culture phenomenon I can't stand any more due to overexposure. Also because as I've grown older the general shallowness of it has become offensive. But such is the fate of all Warhol-style "pop" icons. To properly appreciate Jesus, however you approach him, within your own heart or through study, you have to reach deeper than this cliche-ridden rock opera.
And cliche-ridden as it is, it remains an absolutely brilliant work of composition in both the music and lyrics, and also a telling portrait of late 20th C America; Americans who only went to church on Christmas Eve or Easter Morning were grooving to JCS in the millions. The real religion for many of us was the Rock and Roll, and JCS was missionary work for a profane age; a way of reaching out to us. And Sir Weber was very much a product of his era, and indeed a brilliant composer.
I cannot stand JCS now, any more than I can tolerate "Cats." But I can acknowledge the cultural icon that it is, just as I can appreciate a print of Marilyn Monroe at the dentist's office. That is what Sir Weber hath wrought ultimately. But the fact that you have to look deeper for the real living spirit, that has always been and will always be true.
- I loved the recent review about Jesus Christ Superstar. From the reading of Judas' fate to the chill down the spine. I heard this music for the first time when I was only 13 (back in Bulgaria) and it stayed with me ever since. I still get the chill down my spine when I hear Pilate's Dream. Like most Europeans, I am an atheist of course, however, I adore the biblical stories and their philosophical depth. I find Webber's genius to be just incredible. Nothing in his later works compares to JCS. I would recommend to everyone to SEE the fantastic Australian production of JCS on DVD, which Webber thought is the closest to his vision. I liked the slightly slower pace of music there. The choreography is most amazing, no less amazing than Ian Gillan's famous performance of I Only Want To Say. The look of everyone on this DVD is just incredible. Perhaps only Jesus is somewhat weaker, especially in comparison to Judas and everyone else. It is fascinating to see how Webber's music affects people the same way across different cultures. (vgarkov@mbc.edu)

- This is the second CD I have purchased, because I wore the first out. Feinstein lived with the aging Ira Gershwin - so he truly knows the style. I am not thrilled with the female vocalists used, but there again, they do fit the style of the 30s and 40s.
- this is good...and just to hear a REALLY GREAT "Isn't A Pity" duet with Rosie is well worth the price of admission. I REPEAT: just to hear a REALLY GREAT "Isn't A Pity" duet with Rosie is well worth the price of admission. listen & enjoy some great american music. you cant beat an Ira lyric.
- PURE GERSHWIN is just that, pure!. Feinstein interprets Gershwin the way it was meant to be performed. This is pure delight!
- Michael Feinstein's thin voice is compensated by his apparent enthusiasm for the material and a spare arrangement of piano, bass, and drum that gives this recording the ambiance of an intimate piano bar. Before hearing this disc, I knew only Gershwin's biggest hits, so many of the numbers here were new to me and increase my appreciation of that great American composer.
