- This is pretty horrible. I'm giving it 2 stars because there's some good guitar and drumming on it, but the lead vocals are frickin' awful. The screeching lead singer, whoever it is, makes Sweet sound like a bad generic 80s metal band. This is not good. I miss Brian Connolly more than ever after subjecting myself to this nonsense.
- For all of us who love SWEET with all our Rock n Roll heart & soul but never had the chance to see them LIVE in concert - your prayers have been answered. In fact stop reading this and go buy this NOW!! This is absolutely, hands down, end of story THE BEST Live album ever recorded! The production value of this single concert is so high it is off the charts. I cried for 10 minutes after the last LIVE song played! And I cried for this reason-because I love this band and this is as close as I will ever come to seeing them Live. SWEET literally humbled me to tears with their passion and god given rock n roll ability during this concert. The farther into this concert you get, you suddenly realize you are listening to absolute greatness. You will literally be whipped into such a pure, joyous emotional state that the afterglow will last for weeks. And it only gets better and better every time you listen to it. I recommend this: Get comfortable in your living room or wherever you listen to your music, make sure your stereo is warmed up & the volume set comfortably loud, have some beverages on ice, turn off all the lights except for the green & red lights of your stereo(The 1st time this is best played at night-like a real concert would be)and then hit PLAY!!! And then most importantly-Visualize Yourself There!! SEE SWEET UP ON STAGE! FEEL THE CROWD!! FEEL THE INTENSITY AND THE GREATNESS OF THE MOMENT!! I guarantee you that if you truly love SWEET you will have the absolute time of your life!!! And maybe you too will cry "TEARS OF JOY" when the last live song is played. "YOU READY STEVE? AH HA! ANDY? YEAH! MICK? OK! ALLRIGHT FELLAS LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Do not let anyone get in your way of listening to this concert all the way thru uninterupted. No cell phones, answering the door, TV on. Turn it all off! and submerge yourself in this moment. Also at the end of the concert there are 4 songs that are not live. LOOK AT THESE AS THE MUSIC THAT PLAYS AFTER THE CONCERT IS OVER,THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN TURNED ON, THE BANDS LEFT THE STAGE AND YOU ARE WALKING OUT OF THE ARENA. They are not meant to be listened to with the same intensity as the concert. In fact while these 4 songs are playing you should reflect back on the unbelievable emotional experience you have just been put thru. You will not even be listening to those 4 songs because you'll be crying and your head will be spinning. Those 4 songs are purely walking out music. Look at it as that and it will add to the experience. And DO NOT be disappointed if your favorite songs are not played. Concentrate on the songs that are played and the absolute greatness with which they are played and your relationship with SWEET will be so much richer. The fact that they may not have played your favorite song will only make you yearn for SWEET more. Listen to every note, the unbelievable guitar work of Andy, the amazing drum work of Mick. Its all here. Have a GREAT TIME and feel free to email me and let me know about your incredible evening with SWEET!! ENJOY!!!
- The songs are classics you love, but this live collection doesn't add anything to them. The four extra tracks, including the awful cover of "Reach Out (I'll Be There)" are throwaways.
Stick to your copy of "Desolation Boulevard".

- First of all I like to start by pointing this out,It's the last four songs where Schenker & Chapman share the lead not the first 4 like it was mentioned on 1 review, this is the best way I can put it If you are a Schenker fan you'll like the 4 songs mostly,If you're a Chapman fan you'll like the whole disc even if he cuts LIGHTS OUT in half, there's no second solo, the first 8 songs are from NO PLACE TO RUN tour 1980 and the other 4 are from 1974,I feel I should mention this for any UFO fan there's a CD called ( The archives Series BBC UFO In Session and Live in concert) these are recorded versions that were replaced by the ones that were on the albums and these ones were never released these are the songs in order all Schenker with UFO
In session with Bob Harris 10/28/74 (Chapman sharing guitar songs7,8,9,10 only)
1.Rock Bottom
2.Time on my hands
3Give her the gun
In Session with John Peel 6/27/74
4Too hot to Handle
5.Lights out
6.Try Me
Live at the Hippodrome recorded 6/6/74
7.Oh My
8.Built for Comfort
9.Space Child
10.Doctor Doctor
Live at the Paris Theatre recorded 12/11/75
11.Let it roll
12.Mother Mary
13.Out In The Street(Phil Mogg on Acoustic guitar debut very rare)
14Shoot Shoot.
I thought I should let you in on this info. This is one of my most precious CD'S.Amazon might have it!Note;I give 4 stars to(Live in Concert UFO) made a mistake rating it and couldn't change it back!
- First four tracks here come from a 1974 concert, where the superb twin guitar sound of Michael Schenker and Paul Chapman more than sizzles. The rest of the disc was pulled from a later gig. This is one band I've never gotten to see play live.Maybe there's still hope.Heard they still tour with three(is it?)original/classic line-up members.A fan can't ask for too much more than that.Cuts that make this CD a true keeper are "No Place To Run","Only You Can Rock Me","Lights Out",the ass-kicking "Rock Bottom","Doctor Doctor" and "Shoot Shoot".A good classic hard rock title to have.
- I heard this version of Doctor Doctor and it just blew me away. The last four tracks with Schenker are the best. A great change of pace to Strangers in the Night. If you buy it I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
- The information on the cd sleeve is not entirely correct. The 4 cuts on the cd with Michael Schenker have a very special touch to them. Listen carefully and you will hear a second guitar. For a very short time, Paul Chapman played co-lead guitar for UFO in 1974. It did not work out between Paul and Michael but they sounded great together. This is the only commerical avaiable recording of the two together. They never did any studio work together. The cd is an outstanding example of why UFO has always been a great live act. Enjoy!

- This is from a period when Santana still rocked, and there was still some fire left in his soul. All the tunes reflect that feeling, where spirit and flesh merge in an alchemy of soul-delight, to paraphrase Santana's former spiritual master, Sri Chinmoy. That soulful fusion that he was known for in the Golden Decade can still be felt here, in the extended jams. I was lucky to have been in one of the shows on that tour, and this album captures the feel and mystical atmosphere of a Santana live show wonderfully. Definitely his best release of the 80's and 90's, which has made his old-time fans very happy (before alienating them in the new Millennium with his big pop sellout)
- 3 1/2 stars really.
the music is quite good, as so many other reviewers have stated. My beef? There isn't enough guitar, and what is there, is lost in the other instruments. I've seen Santana in concert several times, and the main reason for going, is his guitar. I recommend Lotus instead. Despite its technical flaws, Lotus is a better album overall.
- This is a "must have" cd for any Santana fan. It captures the mood and energy of seeing Santana live very well. In fact, I would consider it the best live album I've ever heard. It's got the dialog (in spanish) between songs and at the beginning of the show. I find the words and music to be very inspiring. I could go on and on but to put it simply, this is one of my all time favorite cds. An amazing performance by an amazing band. Just buy it!!
- I have all the old vinyls and all the new cds, but non touch the live performance of Carlos on this album. This truly shows he is by far the greatest guitarist of all time. Hendrix was great, but he's dead!. Oh yeah, and shame on anyone who doesn't aggree that Santana live is better than any studio recording. And if this his his best live album, then this is his best album of all. I highly recomend. This is comming from a Carlos fan who's been listening to him since the beginning. Trust me you won't be dissapointed.
- Sacred Fire: Santana Live in South America is a nice recording of an early 90's Santana concert.
The sound quality is first-rate.
The musicians, while very good, are no match for the Santana band of the late 60's and early 70's.
Of course, Carlos Santana's fiery guitar still has the power to carry the show.
I didn't particularly care for a few of songs on this album (like Esperando and Make Someone Happy) but the renditions of their earlier works like "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen" and "Toussaint L'Overture" are fantastic.
Overall a rewarding musical experience but for the best live recording of a Santana performance I'll stick to "Lotus".

- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2X7XJR2708ZEV My name is Jeremy Gloff. I am a musician and retro music enthusiast. If you enjoyed this review make sure to check out my Amazon user profile to check out my other reviews. I am always up for making new friends and discussing the music I love!!! Pat Benatar is one of one of my fave singers/writers.
- In 1983, Pat Benatar gave us for fifth album entitled, LIVE FROM EARTH. As it would turn out, this album is Pat's first-ever live album. The first eight tracks on this album are that of live performances from a concert (that is unknown to me), where the last two tracks are two new studio recorded performances. I didn't think this album would be all that impressive, but it turned out to be better than I expected.
FIRE AND ICE
Original version from the album PRECIOUS TIME (1981). Great live performance here.
LOOKIN' FOR A STRANGER
Original version from the album GET NERVOUS (1982). Awesome live performance.
I WANT OUT
Original version from the album GET NERVOUS (1982). Great.
WE LIVE FOR LOVE
Original version from the album IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1979). Great performance.
HELL IS FOR CHILDREN
Original version from the album CRIMES OF PASSION (1980). Great live performance.
HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT
Original version from the album CRIMES OF PASSION (1980). Not a bad performance, but I'm not very fond of this song.
PROMISES IN THE DARK
Original version from the album PRECIOUS TIME (1981). Awesome performance.
HEARTBREAKER
Original version from the album IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1979). Awesome performance. Does plenty of justice to the studio recorded version.
LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD
New Song; Studio Recorded. First single from the album. This is not a bad song, but it's not one of my favorites. I guess the reason to why I am fond of this song is because it was featured in the film 13 GOING ON 30, which I thought was a great movie.
LIPSTICK LIES
New Song; Studio Recorded. Great song.
- Does anyone know if there are plans to remaster this album - as far as I am concerned, Pat Benatar's album discography ends with this album. I just purchased In the Heat of the Night, Crimes of Passion, and Precious Time (finally as individually remastered albums) but I am still waiting on Get Nervous and Live from Earth. You may note that the listing here on Amazon for Get Nervous says remastered but the album specs still put a release date of October 25, 1990 so I am not going to purchase it until that is cleared up. I realize that there are those "pairs" of Benatar remastered albums but I am a purist. I had all of these Pat Benatar albums on vinyl as a kid (first LP my Dad ever bought for me was Crimes of Passion) and want the individual equivalents on CD (but with the remastered sound quality). I'd appreciate anyone with knowledge on these remastering issues.
- "Live From Earth" provides eight tracks from Pat Benatar's 1982-83 tour, at which point the tiny dynamo had put out four albums, with the last three having made it to the top four ("Precious Time" went all the way to #1). The album made it to #13 on the Billboard album charts, which is not bad in comparison. For me the chief attraction is hearing Benatar sing without all the dubbing that happens in the studio. So the net effect is listening to raw Benatar (as distinct from unplugged, which I can tell you is pretty good after having heard her at Lillith Fair).
I find it interesting that given that Benatar almost always begins her albums with a power house number, two of which are on this album ("Promises in the Dark" and "Heartbreaker"), that she chooses instead to start the night with "Fire and Ice" and leaves the aforementioned songs for a strong finish. The most impressive part of the album is when Benatar and her band start stringing songs together with "I Want Out," ""We Live for Love," and "Hell is For Children." A few of the songs are a little bit different, and "Lookin' for a Stranger" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" have a little more punch than the originals.
The 1983 album ends with a couple of studio tracks, her hit single "Love Is a Battlefield," which made it to #5, and "Lipstick Lies," which is not exactly a bad filler. Even though eight live tracks is pretty paltry and adding the studio tracks violates the whole point of the album, I end up rounding up because of the latter. It is a close call, and being a big Benatar fan probably has something to do with it because only one of those is going to be interested in this album in the first place.
- Now revered for her live vocal dexterity & passionate showcases, this album does not reflect the true electricity of Benatar's stage presence - for that catch her new DVT or indeed the 1983 DVD release Live! From New Haven. The audibility of this album is not the best & sound mixing brings instruments to the fore too much, hence sometimes over-shadowing Benatar's raucous voice. What the cd is worthy for however is the inclusion of Promises In The Dark (not on the live! DVD) & 2 new offerings - the instantaneous classik Love Is A Battlefield & a saccharine pop-type song called Lipstick Lies - even as a die-hard fan I find this one quite hard to stomach. It would have been nice if this album had been the entire show on cd as a momento of the tour - rather, snippets here & there do not give the oomph which reflects a real night on the town with her royalness, Pat Benatar

- This is one of my absolute favorite live albums period. Cafferty's voice is quite rhaspy but makes the "live" part real not remastered. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a complete CD. The LP has 20 tracks which include the two studio tracks, Morning Dew and Juicy Lucy and two live tracks: big boy and Every Young Man's dream. The Description from the editor state it include the studio songs but don't see them on the track list.
- Have always liked this 1981 live Nazareth album. Also glad to see that one record label had the sense to squeeze this 77 minute show onto one disc, instead of two CD's,as it has been released before. All sixteen tracks kick ass as far as I'm concerned.Like,"Razamanaz",Joni Mitchell's "This Flight Tonight","Beggar's Day",J.J.Cale's "Cocaine",their FM radio staple "Holiday","Hair Of The Dog","Show No Mercy",the Yardbird's "Shapes Of Things",the unforgetable "Love Hurts",ZZ Top's "Tush" and "Morning Dew".A must-have for all fans of '70's hard rock.Line-up:Dan McCafferty-vocals,Manny Charlton-guitar,Pete Agnew-bass,Billy Rankin-2nd guitar,John Locke-keyboards and last but not least Darrell Sweet(R.I.P.)-drums.Long live Nazareth!
- Nazareth's albums all had a "lighter" tone to them that always bothered me, so that is why this CD is so great. It captures them in their live concert fury, with loud guitars and lots of noise. Some of the songs are throwaways, but for the most part, this is what Nazareth should have sounded like in the studio. If you are an old fan-pick this up. It will give you a completely different look into this band and how they could really ROCK.
- i also have been looking for this cd and it is very hard to find. ihave tried to find it in a lot of music stores and half of them have never heard of it.i have been a fan of theres all my life.
- I had this album on cassette several years ago, it was stolen with many others. It is the one I missed the most. I spent many years trying to find it again. My prayers have been answered. If you think Cheap Trick at Budokan was the ultimate live album of the 80's, your sadly mistaken.

- First of all, I agree completely with the previous review in that music has gotten to being terrible and unlistenable. Anyways, this CD could have included Please don't Judas me and Hair of the Dog. It says greatest Hits along the side fro some reason.
- There is so much more to Nazareth than most people know. Every true music lover has a copy of their "Greatest Hits" CD at least. They have put out more than 20 albums over the years, and largely these are the unheard albums. Thus, unfortunately, many of their gems have been overlooked. No-one (and I mean no-one) can sing a ballad or a rock anthem the way Naz can. These guys rock hard! I have seen them in concert many times and they have more pzazz than so called rockers half their age. It's a shame that they are not more recognized for the rock legends they truly are. Every time I listen to this godly album I wonder why people like Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake are more famous that these guys. I guess it just shows what is wrong with music these days.
Anyhow, do yourself a favour - pour a strong drink, light a candle and put on some tunes from these masters. They will remind you why you love Rock n' Roll.
Thanks Boys, and Rock on!

5 comments about Merseytrout: Live in Liverpool 1980.
- It is a shame that the person who made this recording, chopped off the songs just before they finish and cut out audience noise. It must have been done to fit it on the album. Even so id rather have a track missing that have it cut up in this way. I was at that very gig at Rotters club in liverpool (an awfull "Tiffanys" type, shirt and tie, club) and can assure you that although the songs themselves are technically quite well recorded. The feeling of the gig has been hampered by the cutting of audience reactions to songs. However as Beefheart retired from music after, this his most sucesfull tour. It is pretty much essential for beefheart freaks, in my humble opinion.
- Keep in mind that this archive disc is the first Beefheart title I've ever had.As I've heard a couple of his older lp's,I sort of knew what to expect.'Merseytrout...' was recorded live at the Rotters Club in Liverpool on October 29,1980.A short time there after,Captain Beefheart(given name:Don Vliet)gave up touring altogether.I thought 'Merseytrout...' was a good example as to what a live Capt.Beefheart&The Magic Band gig was all about, playing their own style of eccentric blues rock. The set here of twenty-one songs has a running time of 72:55,so it would appear that we're getting an entire concert.Which is good. Some of the tracks here of this inspiring performance that I thought stood on their own were "Hot Head","Safe As Milk","Abba Zabba","Kandy Korn" and the rather mellow "Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles".Sound isn't perfect, but it's good enough. As I dug for more info,I found that Beefheart had released something like a dozen lp's(not counting compilations)between 1967-82,when he then retired from the business altogether.Beefheart had since then taken up painting,as the booklet for this CD release features some very cool artwork by the Captain himself.Might appeal to fans of Pere Ubu,Nick Cave or The Residents. Some of the artists that have been influenced by Beefheart are Tom Waits,Bob Drake,Firehose and PJ Harvey.Beautiful cover.
- This disc is a third-rate bootleg with the audience noise unprofessionally chopped out, and silence insterted between the tracks. It's horrible. Don't give your money to Ozit Records. They have been raping Captain Beefheart for years now, releasing inferior, WORSE THAN BOOTLEG quality product disguised as official releases. Don't be fooled...get the complete, unedited show from a trader!
- Here you would have a famous version of the Magic Band live 1980, 21 tracks, songs from 7 albums + 2 otherwise unreleased gems. I have to disagree w/ Theo below, being familiar w/ his site & writings, he's just being a bitchy trainspotter, forgetting that we don't all have a tonne of Beefheart bootlegs & are actually quite glad to see something like this come out. The sound quality is quite clear & good, & the way Don isn't always in time w/ the band is the way he almost always was live, although when he gets it right, like near the end of this gig, it's superb. It bugged me a bit too the way it was chopped up not giving it any continuity, but that doesn't warrant 1 star, Theo's shooting himself in the foot & something you need to stop analysing, sit back & listen, as I decided to do leaving room for a sense of surprise. Okay, the songs: Dr Dark is not done quite as intricately as on Lick My Decals Off Baby & seems a little bit sloppy but still good, Hot Head & Dropout Boogie rock indeed, Her Eyes shows the softer side of Beefheart but w/o getting too sappy. I was glad to see Bat Chain Puller here, its odd grooves very satisfying. Gary Lucas appears solo on guitar for Flavour Bud Living & recites One Man Sentence, but doesn't appear to play in the band though. Jeff Morris Tepper does a similar job for The One Red Rose That I Mean. Eric Drew Feldman opens up the show w/ Toaster before the whole band shows up for Nowadays & Don quips "you'd nearly think we were commercial" over snazzy drumming, though from who we can't be sure, as maybe in tribute to the sleeve of Trout Mask where Drumbo didn't mentioned, the same happens on Merseytrout. Other classics presented are My Human Gets Me Blues, Kandy Korn, Best Batch Yet, & the closer Big Eyed Bean From Venus which manages to rise above gimmicky status w/ the real driving force of the music. Historic this recording maybe isn't but damn fine it is indeed.
- i've just finished a report of over 1,000 words on this so called 'live' bootleg with the official title MERSEYTROUT, but which also is available as 'live in liverpool 1980' and 'live 1980'. you can find the whole story at my website 'captain beefheart electricity'.
(after reading it) i hope it's clear that only hard-core collectors will be interested in obtaining it. as the review is too long to be placed here, this is a SUMMARY: don't get fooled! despite the excellent sound quality (the only positive aspect), the professionally looking ceedee has been cut by an amateur using a very blunt axe - also efficiently eliminating the audience. now, that wouldn't be a disaster if the show was of an acceptable artistic level. however, don van vliet (the captain) needs to wrestle through thirteen (!) songs before he catches up with the magic band for the eight last ones (so only a third of the concert is okay).... p.s. one way or another it isn't possible to rate 'no stars'....

- As far as I know, Supertramp has not produced a live cd/album which includes their awesome hit "Give A Little Bit."
If you are like me, and want to get a live version of Give A Little Bit, venture out and buy a copy of King Biscuit Flower Hour: Presents Ringo Starr Live. That cd has Supertramp's very own Roger Hodgson doing this song (at a longer-than-studio length of 5:13), plus The Logical Song and Take The Long Way Home. You'll even get Greg Lake doing a fabulous version of Lucky Man, and that Ian Hunter dude singing All The Young Dudes.
No, I'm not on Starkey's payroll, but please do tip your waitresses... I'll be here all week giving free tips.
- I saw Supertramp on their 1997 tour for "Some Things Never Change," and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen in my life. The band sounded so tight, so clean, and so good, I could've sat there and watched them play all night. Thank God they released a live album from this phenomenal tour! Supertramp's 1999 double live album, "It Was The Best Of Times," is a fantastic live set, with Rick Davies & the boys recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in September of '97. The double CD contains the complete 21-song concert in it's entirety, as well as the occasional song introduction from saxophonist John Helliwell, so the album really does give you a marvelous "you are there" feel. Rick Davies & company are simply sensational, delivering smoking-hot live renditions of 'Tramp classics such as "Ain't Nobody But Me," "Cannonball," "Breakfast In America," "Rudy," "Downstream," "Take The Long Way Home," "The Logical Song," "School," and "Crime Of The Century." The material performed from the "Some Things Never Change" album, including "It's A Hard World," "You Win, I Lose," "Sooner Or Later," and "Listen To Me Please" are also wonderfully done. And although former co-leader Roger Hodgson is no longer with the group, his place is taken just fine by Mark Hart, whose voice sounds close enough to Hodgson's, and who sings the Hodgson material perfectly. And, of course, Davies' voice is still as rich-sounding as ever, and his effortless piano-playing outstanding, as is the band's amazing live chemistry. "It Was The Best Of Times" is a truly mind-blowing live set from Supertramp that easily rivals their classic "Paris" concert album. Definitely pick it up!
- hello! this seems a very interesting live cd but I have a doubt. several people mentioned the song another's man woman but I don't see that song in the listing. is there another import edition of this cd besides this one? please anybody could clarify this? Thanks! anyway any concert of supertramp with or without hogdson is worth the price!!!
- This expanded line up of the original group (featuring Davies, drummer Bob Benberg and woodwind player Helliwell from the band's most popular and well known line up)does justice to these classic songs. Mark Hart does a capable job standing in for Roger Hodgson. As to the criticism that the band shouldn't have played the tunes sung by Hodgson, it's very clear why they play them--they were hits. The audience came to hear the hits and they don't care who sings them. The band recognized that audience expectation and delivers. Since all the songs written while Hodgson was in the band were composed together (although Hodgson was the main songwriter on those he sang), it seems legit for them to play them.
While the last studio ablum was a bit of a disappointment (You Win I Lose aside), this album does feature the better tunes from it.
- Speaking as someone who attended a Canadian date of this tour, I was very excited to hear that a live CD from the tour was coming out. The fact that I had to pay a few extra bucks for the import didn't really matter to me. Supertramp is a classic band, and, in my opinion, every recording they have put out has had something special about it. It Was The Best of Times is a very satisfying CD as it, unlike other live offerings, contains the whole show. It is well produced and the band sounds top notch. However, songs like Breakfast In America, Take The Long Way Home, The Logical Song - originally sung by former Tramp member Roger Hodgson - should ONLY be sung by Roger Hodgson. During Hodgson's tour he played his songs and his songs only. Rick Davies should have had the respect to do the same in Supertramp. Mark Hart has a decent voice, but singing Hodgson numbers just isn't right. This is one of the reasons why bassist Dougie Thomson left the band. Would McCartney sing any songs that were typically Lennon's? I don't think so.
