  1. This review is purely about the song, not the quality of the CD or the recording or anythign else. I found ths song most moving. Think a baby being born and telling its parents "here I am"....I loved the number, and Bryan Adam's voice really does it justice

  2. I will never use this way to buy a CD in my life.
The sound quality of the CD is terrible.I can't even use it in my car. The plactic cover was broken so I think I wasted my money.
Next time I will visit a professional store and that it.
    Thanks.

  1. well, what can I say?..... WHAT A STINKER! Dave Anderson's a wanker!!! sound quality is very poor.... if ya buy it, it'll only collect dust! This is not an official release, and it sounds like someone stuffed a two dollar tape recorder down their trowsers!!!

  2. First off,I'd like to mention that I can certainly understand as to why most people(even the most extreme Hawkfans)might strongly dislike this CD.The sound is not that good, but it is very listenable.I've heard a lot worse.I heard that Nik Turner was ACTUALLY paid not to put this recording out. But,'Bring Me The Head...' does serve the purpose of a fan hearing a halfway decent audience-like home made taped performance of the band from May,1973.I guess I've gotten used to the disc for what it is.It starts off with two tunes that are unavailable anywhere else "Gaga" and a decent Nik Turner poem "In The Egg".Soon after "Orgone Accumulator" there's another Turner poem "Wage War" which is pretty good,in my opinion.Other 'Wind classics are present, like "Master Of The Universe",a good version of "Urban Guerilla","Welcome To The Future","Sonic Attack" and "Silver Machine".I heard awhile back that a French label,Spalax reissued this title;with a 30% improvement remastering job on the sound quality. Also noticed that Turner isn't even listing on the back cover.Have to wonder why.

  4. All else aside, I've heard better sound quality from tape recorders placed under a chair than you can find on this one.

To bad it is a waste of some decent cover art and a name for an album.

  5. I felt I needed to contribute this review to drive the average rating further down. No offense to the person who gave this two stars, but this disc doesn't deserve ONE. The info on its dubious origins was new to me but not surprising. This one has almost an identical song list to one I have on vinyl but didn't see listed here (might've missed it among the other 121 entries), called "Live 70-74." That one is not the greatest recording either, but it's an audiophile's dream compared to this terrible offering. It would be worth it to get a copy of the hilarious "In The Egg," but find it on another release and don't bother with this one. In addition to the overall poor quality, the recording levels are almost nonexistent. Unless you crank it up to maximum volume you won't even believe there is ANY sound on this disc at all.

1 comments about Marc: Songs From The Granada TV Series.

  1. I came across this album in a budget (and I do mean budget) clearing house in Western Australia a couple of years ago.
It is the sort of album that collects dust for most of the time, then something will get me thinking of Marc's sad end and I get it out to play just to hear where he might have been heading musically had he lived.
By today's professional standards I suppose it sounds fairly tawdry, as in it's obviously analog recording and MONO (was it that long ago???)however there is a genuine upbeat feel to the versions of T.Rex favorites. I recommend this album for those fans who want to hear Marc's last output before his untimely death in '77

  1. Hearing these versions of Token Of Your Love and Teenage Dream makes you wish there were more "live" T. Rex available from this era. These two songs alone are worth the price. A video of this gig would have been great to see.

  2. Interesting capture of T Rex live, with mediocre sound quality. Often times the crowd overpowers Marc and the band, but great song selection and energy overcomes some of this. Good addition for folks who already own most of the catalogue.

  3. While these live shows do not represent T. Rex at its 1971-1973 peak, the disc is a great piece of history--1) it is one of Marc Bolan's only live discs 2) the main CD is of the final tour of Marc's life, while his career was finally on the upswing again and he was sounding great, just months before the fatal car crash. Docked one star simply because the sound has a few glitches. Had he lived, Bolan would have made far more of an impact in the U.S. than he did. This release shows he had assembled a great group of musicians again (some who had played with Bowie) and still had the genius songwriting spark.

  4. Nothing can top hearing Marc Bolan & T.Rex live, except that is... Marc Bolan & T.Rex LIVE!
But as that (sadly) is never to be again, the next best thing is LIVE recordings of the King of Glam/Bopping Elf/Godfather of Punk.
This Cd ROCKS! Great quality, when you think that in 1977 the technical equipment was NOTHING like it is today!
Bolan's unique (and very often COPIED vocal style - Bono:U2 amongst them), reverberates deliciously thru both discs.
The music is pure Bolan Boogie/Bop/Rock.
Its very easy to see the Legacy Bolan has imprinted on Popular music, as even today his style has transgressed time and space. His original sound, as is proved by the countless covers, is as actual now as it was in the 70's. Check out the recent & excellent "(Bang A Gong)Get It On" covers by the likes of LONDON BUS STOP or NATURAL BORN HIPPIES, garanteed to get your bones shakin'!
T.REX fan or not, "Marc Bolan & T.Rex Live 1977" is NOT just a Blast From The Past, but a Top actual account of how Timeless-Music should be played!!!
Go out & buy this one, and let your kids hear it too!
    Allan-Michael

  5. This Live T Rex CD must rate at one of the worst live performances ever recorded. All the eliments people love about Bolan and T Rex are missing. The nice guitar riffs are lost and the Bolan voice is particularly not good . I even asked myself if it was really him singing. No, he didn't try too hard that night, did he? He couldn't have known he was being recorded and that it was going to be released. He would never have alowed it out.A total [upset]. Save your money and buy some of his studio material

  1. THIS IS A SLEAZY RECORD COMPANY TRICK TO STEAL YOUR MONEY.

BMG record company has relased a whole series of "Extended Versions" CD's. They take some songs off of a previous released live albums and repackage it in a very deceptive way. The packaging is cheap and there are no liner notes, so you don't know the source of the music. If you are any kind of fan of the group, you probably already own the original live CD and then you get excited when you see this CD, buy and then find out you just wasted your money on something you already own.

Also deceptive is the titles "Extended Versions". In most cases, these songs are just live versions that are about the same length as the original studio versions.

Beware of anything from BMG Special Products. It is almost always repackaged music with deceptive packaging, with the sole purpose of stealing your money. If they were honest, they would include notes about the source material so you knew what you were getting.

  2. Listen to these other reviewers who say this is kind of a ripoff. It's just the King Biscuit Flower Hour live show in different order minus about two songs. I actually saw the POWER tour on two occasions in early 1987, and on this IN THE SPIRIT OF THINGS tour they don't seem to be playing as tightly or as good as they did on the previous tour. Still they are KANSAS, and they never seem to give a bad show, but still they could have been much better. They were so great on the POWER tour that's why I had to see them a few weeks later when they were playing about 90 miles away from me. Don't even bother with this waste of a live album, when you can have the extra two songs and the songs in the correct order on the KING BISCUIT offering. Like one of the other reviewers said, BMG is just trying to cash in a bit with this Encore Collection.

  3. Now don't get me wrong, I an a HUGE Kansas fan. But this album is a rip off! It's the King Biscuit Flower Hour album just re-ordered! Not a cool thing to do to Kansas fans. Looks like BMG was out to get some cash...

  4. Made in USA in 2000, Serial# 75517-45617-2, Playing Time 47:15

This CD lifts tracks from the "King Biscuit Flower Hour" CD, and is missing 2 tracks: "Point Of Know Return", and an 11-minute version of "House On Fire", making this CD shorter by about 18 minutes.

The album was recorded during the "In The Spirit Of Things" tour back in 1989, and features Ehart on drums, Greer on bass, Morse on guitar, Greg Robert on keyboards, Walsh on vocals, and Williams on guitar. Like most KBFH, the recording quality is impeccable. However, on this version, the tracks have been shuffled around, so some of the songs that originally segued into each other have sometimes been re-organized (why?).

This is your only opportunity to hear live versions of "One Big Sky", "All I Wanted", "The Preacher", and the acoustic "T.O. Witcher".

Unless you're on a very tight budget, go for the real thing: the KBFH version has liner notes, the tracks in the order in which they were originally performed, 2 extra tracks for a total CD playing time of 65:57. And I still don't understand why this series is called "Extended Versions"...

  5. If you already have the King Biscuit Hour CD that is Kansas recorded live in 1989, then you may want to stay away from this CD. It is the same concert, with the same songs as the KB Hour CD minus "Point of Know Return", and "House on Fire". If you do not have the KB hour CD, then you may be interested in getting this one. Along with the 2 missing tracks from the KB hour CD, it does not have the nice CD sleeve that the KB hour CD has, but if you are just into the music, this CD, if you don't have the other, is a great buy.

1 comments about Chicago Live.

  1. Chicago Live, recorded at 1969's Toronto Rock 'n' Roll Revival concert, is an interesting early preview of one of the 70's more popular bands. The raw energy of the band's live sound shines through on the set as does the technical brilliance of the late Terry Kath's guitar work. Cuts such as "25 or 6 to 4" and "Liberation" cook, but suffer from the poor sound quality that dogs the entire album. For the Chicago-phile, this is a must-buy (if only for the historical value--it is the first live recording from the band), but for the average listener, this is definitely a "should-pass."

1 comments about A Night at Red Rocks (CD/DVD Combo Pack).

  1. This concert album by the long-time "Veteran Cosmic Rockers" launched a wonderful tradition of the Moodies hopping from one city to another, and doing a live show with an orchestra from the city of origin for the concert. The very first attempt at this was at the venue on the southwest side of Denver, namely the Red Rocks Natural Ampitheatre with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. I have read that prior to blending the band and the orchestra on stage for this September 1992 performance, there was ONLY ONE rehearsal with the band and orchestra together. Nevertheless, the concert was a huge success, and a huge draw and fundraiser for PBS as well.
It is obvious and understandable that the Moodies had a few early jitters and butterflies, considering that lead singer Justin Hayward resumed singing "Tuesday Afternoon" at the end of the song when he shouldn't have, and Ray Thomas immediately followed with a humorous blunder of his own by singing the 3rd verse of "For My Lady" twice. But after the boys settled down, they really let'er rip, with John Lodge directing the orchestra by using his bass guitar as a baton at the close of "I'm Just A Singer", to Justin Hayward's incredible rendition of "Nights In White Satin" with the full orchestra wonderfully complimenting this timeless classic. The rest of the show was just as impressive and energetic.

Despite the two mistakes mentioned, if you love Moody Blues music, there is no reason will not love this wonderful concert version of their incredible music.

  1. "Plays Live" was my first experience with Peter Gabriel back in 1983. And I loved it. Since then I have bought all his records (I beleive...) but have never forgotten the unique musical experience "Plays Live" gave me. I haven't listened to it since mid 80's when my tape wore out. Today - in Sept. 2008, I finally got hold of a Plays Live CD. It's amazing! Even better than I remembered. Listen to the version of San Jacinto! I own app. 500 cd's - and this album (2CD version) is probably the one I rank highest.

  2. This is a great cd but I only rec'vd one of the two discs. I'm still waiting on the second.

  3. I've had the vinyl version for over 20 years. I'm glad I re-discovered Peter Gabriel.

  4. This is a grate concert from Peter Gabriel. In my opinion his best live record so far. I recommended it to anyone who if familiar with and like Peter Gabriel early recordings.

  5. The sound of this double live cd is amazing, of course, it has been enhanced in studio but the "live" feeling of beeing there is preserved.
Many songs are far better in their live version on this cd when compared to the studio ones. To name a few, "The Family Snapshot", "D.I.Y", "The Family and the fishing net", "San Jacinto", "Solsbury Hill" and "Hundrum"
The voice is incredible and the sound just shake everything in the house.
Great live performance to remember this magic concert for the Security Tour.
