- There are currently four different versions of this release circulating. The first came out in 2000 with a slip so you could get three extra songs and a Todd interview by downloading it from the King Bissuit web site and the enhanced cd took you right there. In 2001 JVC in Japan did a version called Live, that included a bonus song which was The Ikon/Freedom Fighters which was a download song. In 2002, this was released again but with the extra stuff on a bonus disc. In 2004 this was released yet again as the Best Of Todd Rundgren Live. This release is made up of three different shows, two of which had already been released. The 1978 show is Live in NYC '78 and the '85 show is A Cappella both of which are currently available in the box set Can't Sop Running. The 5/8/77 show is actually a Utopia concert and is were the bonus The Ikon/Freedom Fighters is from. This show is the best performed of the three. I really wish that they had just released that performance and bypassed everything else. If you're going to get this, make sure to contact the seller and that you get the two disc version like I have. If you can't find that, then go with the import with the bonus song.

- This album kicks booty! Molly Hatchet was the first big rock act I ever saw, opening for Riot and AC/DC (on the Highway to Hell tour! Little did I know Bon Scott would soon pass away!). Songs like Flirtin with Disaster and Beating the Odds sound great, but their version of Freebird really gets me going! Even my THIRTEEN year old daughter likes it! I cannot believe the great job they did on this song and I would definitely recommend this album to any rock fan! Funny thing is, I never knew they ever released this album until I saw it on Amazon.com!
- Close as I can tell, the two omitted songs for space were chosen because they never did end up on a studio album; they're introduced as being new material, but didn't show up when Lightning Strikes Twice came out. Combine that with the fact that the Southern Rock era was basically over when this came out, and you get a crappy CD reissue. It must still sell well enough for Epic since it's still in print, though. So how about remastering it, putting the missing songs on and giving us some alternate tracks? One More From The Road has been reissued this way what, 3 times now on CD? Plus bonus tracks from those sessions on other compilations. Obviously it should sell enough to make some money with it. --- This isn't too hard to find on vinyl - the missing songs are good, worth the trouble if you're a fan. At least they stay true to form, unlike bands who went to that synth-pop kind of sound blend (Doc Holliday - Modern Medicine, The Outlaws - Soldiers Of Fortune, or Van-Zant's self-titled Geffen flop).
- I can't count the number of speakers that I have blown through the years of listening to this album. It's just that good, you can't listen to it at a low volume. Just listening to the crowd explode during Freebird will give you goosebumps. Although Skynyrd will always be known for Freebird, Molly Hatchet's version will make you slam the gas pedal even further through your floorboard! Great Live album from start to finish, and great price too!
- Molly Hatchet recieved MUCHO grief for releasing Freebird on this album.
Riff West(bassist) was a guest speaker/consultant at a recording arts institute I attended and said this album was basically blackballed by the industry and fans alike;sales were dismal at best. This release was an embarassing moment for the good 'ol boys. Aside from that controversial point, the album is a real southern rocker. Anything with singer Danny Joe Brown is good stuff! An excellent addition to your Hatchet collection.
- This is the best live CD from the 1980's--period. Molly Hatchet's popularity may have been waning by the mid 80's, but they were certainly going down fighting, judging from the intense performances on this CD--amazing! One great song and performance after another. The Freebird cover was awesome--Danny Joe Brown sang it perfectly! Ronnie would be proud (he was planning on producing Molly Hatchet before the Skynyrd plane crash occurred)! The guitarists are on fire throughout! Boogie No More is incredible!
The sound quality (EQ'ing, specifically) is great on some songs, OK on others, and lousy on one or two. Apparently it's tough to capture a live CD from analog tapes soundwise, because Skynyrd's One More From The Road was spotty with the EQing as well. But the quality of the performances completely cancels out the weaknesses in the sound, as far as I'm concerned.
This CD is a MUST HAVE for any guitar-rock enthusiast, and especially for any Southern Rock fan!

- In my opinion, the only drawback to this album is that it ends just a little too soon. Other than that, it ROCKS! Saint of Me followed by Waiting For a Friend gives Waiting For A Friend a Spiritual Feel. Good Stuff, loved the Wah-Wah Pedal on the last song.
- Review no.63. Never even got to check out this live Stones CD until here recently. A nicely assembled fourteen track concert document of the Stone's 'Bridges To Babylon' U.S. trek. There are three cuts here from that modern day Stones classic - "Saint of Me", "Theif In The Night" and the awesome "Out Of Control". Not sure as to WHY many fans claim that the 'Bridges' CD isn't very good. It's fine! Then of course, there are the old stuff that so few rarely grow tired of, like "You Got Me Rocking" (actually, this is a later tune but it's SO good I thought it was an oldie at first), "Gimme Shelter", "Waiting On A Friend", "Sister Morphine" (hadn't heard this cut in ages), "Live With Me" and the unbeatable "The Last Time" (my personal favorite of the entire disc). Sound quality and production here is superb. Simply, a must-have.
- I have been reading the reviews of this CD and I cant believe them, these guys are what rock and roll is all about....give me a break, if you were at these shows which IM SURE MOST OF THE REVIEWERS WERE, they were wasted like the rest of us were, this tour was awesome....I saw them on this tour and I was blown away...you people need to wake up, The Stones wont be around for much longer, enjoy them while you can, quit being so critical......
- I give this a three based on the tight performances and the fact that there are NO versions of "Start Me Up," "Brown Sugar," "Jumping Jack Flash," or "Honky Tonk Women."
The performances here are solid and I enjoy the updated versions of older material. It's also a nice way to re-acquaint yourself with some good "Bridges to Babylon" numbers.
Even if this is little more than a tour souvenir, it's a solid one. Be honest, who really buys these things other than Stones fans? Most likely, the curious are going to be scared off by the omission of the standards, so these things are purely for our ever-growing collections. Is it just more money in their overstuffed coffers? Sure. But if it's done well enough, I'm not going to get bent about it. The Stones are way past the point of arguing about artistic integrity or how rich these guys are. They're an icon, a brand name, and an institution. When they put out good stuff, I'm a happy fan. This is an example.
- 1. Do I like the Rolling Stones?
2. Do I think the Rolling Stones lost it after (fill in the blanks with either "Some Girls" or "Tattoo You.")?
3. Do I think the Rolling Stones are too old to be doing this?
4. Do I like their older, "classic" material, but don't care to hear new versions?
5. Am I afraid that if someone sees this record in my collection, I'll be mocked for buying a "tour souvenir" with no musical merit?
If you answered yes to the first question and no to all the others, then there's no reason why you shouldn't spend your hard earned $15 on this very enjoyable disk.
This one in particular fills a couple of niches for me. I don't automatically dismiss any of their late work--in fact I like most of it, including the new one, "A Bigger Bang." But "Bridges to Babylon" was admittedly pretty weak. Well, this disk gives you a chance to hear the handful of good songs from that the record, and these versions are preferable. In particular, "Out of Control," a lengthy piece with a lot of dynamic changes, comes off great here. Other recent songs like "Saint of Me," "You Got Me Rocking," "Flip the Switch" and "Thief in the Night" come off better here than in their studio incarnations. Of the older material, the versions of "Gimme Shelter," "Memory Motel," "Waiting on a Friend" and "The Last Time," are spectacular.
Reactions to the Stones are rather predictable and annoying. You're supposed to be annoyed with all their post-tour live albums, and see them as "just cashing in." This just isn't true. The live disks are a chance for them to re-address older material in versions that take advantage of their improved musicianship and matured perspective. On "Flashpoint," for example, you can hear fantastic versions of "Paint it Black" and "Ruby Tuesday," played with great passion and inventiveness. "Stripped" has many highlights, including a wonderful version of the very early tunes "I'm Free," and "Spider and the Fly," and a jolly take on "Let it Bleed."
If you want to let late-night comedians and jaded rock reviewers guide your choices, then you probably aren't going to want to risk the "uncool" label they would surely apply to anyone who bought "No Security." But I enjoy it, I play it all the time, and my hat's off to the Stones for risking ridicule by putting it out.

- I think I may've done a review of this CD for a printed 'zine several years back.Either way,'Live At...' is a seven track archive recording of the band BEFORE they had any hits as it took place on Dec.30,1963.Pretty much every tune is a cover, like two Chuck Berry songs,"Let It Rock" and "Almost Grown" as well as two John Lee Hooker covers "Dimples" and "Boom Boom".Then we cannot forget the Duke Ellington number "C Jam Blues" or Ellas McDaniel's "Bo Diddley".Not a bad sounding rarity that someone had apparently dug out of their closet, stash box, basement, etc.Good quality British invasion rock n'roll.Original line up is here:Eric Burden-vocals,Hilton Valentine-guitar,Chas Chandler-bass(R.I.P.-hey,wasn't he the one who discovered Hendrix?),Alan Price-keyboards and John Steel-drums.

- This is Bowie's best live album. Though David Live and Ziggy Stardust Soundtrack have some great moments , Stage is where he experimented most with the old songs. This is his Berlin period , which Disc 2 draws exclusively from.
Disc 1 begins with five songs from the Ziggy Stardust album all presented in an almost orchestrated form. Relying heavily on the analogue synths , providing nice textures , these arrangements work. Although not as energized as the guitar muscle of Mick Ronson's original versions these take on a new vitality. Like the bounce that exudes Soul Love. Sounding more like the Philly soul of the mid-seventies. Adrian Belew's "elephant/seagull" guitar noises , which he would later use to full effect as part of King Crimson , sound great on the intro to Station To Station.
Beauty And The Beast sounds better here than the studio version with the band gelling nicely. Alabama Song has a very paranoid feeling to the verses , which lifts in the chorus to the caberet sound. All great stuff !
- This live album of Bowie's 1978 tour draws heavily on the Ziggy Stardust songs. Other albums that feature are Station To Station, Young Americans, Low and Heroes plus there's the obscure Alabama Song. It is a pity that great songs like Young Americans, Golden Years, Sound And Vision and Word On A Wing are not included here, since I would have loved to hear them live. These versions are more uptempo than the studio originals and less polished, but there's enough electricity in the air. My favourite performances are Five Years, Station To Station, Fame. Breaking Glass and Heroes. The live performances throw an entirely different perspective on these well loved songs. However I recommend this album only to devoted Bowie fans. The live versions are best appreciated when the listener is already familiar with the originals.
- When I heard David Bowie's: David Live at the Tower Philadelphia, I was disappointed by the quality of the music and the album set in general. Most of the time the band was off and it reflected poorly.
After that experience I almost didn't buy David Bowie's Stage album but now I am glad I did. Since it was a differenct band I decided to give it a try and I was very happy with the results. The band is in great form, especially with rhythm guitarist Carlos Alomar as musicial director. [Alomar co-wrote Bowie's first #1 U.S. hit...you remember the one: 'Fame']. So, it is of little surprise to this music conessieur, that he would put together such a great live performance. Alomar's great attention to detail, his funky rock riffs and the addition of Adrian Belew gives this album a unique and stylish sound. Belew's lead on "Heroes" is a classic and his presence is felt throughout the entire album. The blending of the guitars with the violin [played by Simon House of Hawkwind fame]and the thunderous piano of Sean Mayes, adds an almost chaotic feeling to such songs as "Blackout" and "Beauty And The Beast". Add what is referred to by many as Bowie's best rhythm section, Dennis Davis, George Murray [and Carlos Alomar] and you have all of the ingredients for an amazing live performance. Being backed by a band of all-stars, David Bowie delivers his vocals with power and authority and with the exception of a missed line or two, the songs come off without a hitch.
- This was recorded in Philadelphia, PA in April 1978. I was very, very lucky to attend these shows! I was just a kid then, but I still clearly remember that Bowie was just so incredibly AWESOME! His voice was so dynamic and so strong! Heroes was #1, the whole band was so tight, the entire audience was totally into it all the way, and the whole show was just so totally excellent in so many ways! By far, THE very best concert I have ever seen period - no doubt about it. And I have seen so many. So very many.
In addition to Bowie's incredible vocals, dancing, mime, keyboards (he also played a small harp!) on those nights, I'll never forget Adrian Belew's awesome lead guitar performances. He kept racing around the stage behind Bowie, doing Chuck Berry style duckwalks, wild spins, running back and forth while playing these absolutely amazing lead riffs which just tore the house down! I remember how no one knew who he was at that time, but we soon found out after that as he went on to work with The Talking Heads, Robert Fripp, King Crimson, Bill Buford, Stanley Clark, Stewart Copeland, Jean-Michel Jarre, Laurie Anderson and the list goes on and on. For sure, Mr. Adrian Belew is, indeed, one of the very, very best guitarists this world has ever seen. Also, IMHO, 'Stage' marks a very significant turning point in time when Bowie went from a freaked-out, cult-like lead singer and moved on to become a world-wide major legend in the history of rock music. It also marks a time when rock music went from straight up, in your face 'hard rock' to a more mainstream type of music which many, many grew to accept and still enjoy today. I highly recommend purchasing a copy of this CD as soon as possible. It is getting harder to find and really is one of the very best live recordings ever made! Five stars is not enough to rate this - should be more like ten or twenty! Get it NOW!
- I used to disregard this album in my Bowie collection, because i really was never a big fan of the "trilogy" but what a fool i was! this is Bowie at his best, PERIOD! buy this now.

- I'll give this release 3 stars because the quality of the material, which is excellent. But for the price being asked, you'ld be better off picking up "Workshop Of The Telescopes" & the "Tyranny & Mutation" 2001 remaster. That way you get the 4 songs from the infamous "Bootleg EP" put out by Columbia, plus a whole lot of other songs, which are great to have. This CD is simply a copy of the "Bootleg EP" put out by Columbia Records for promotional use in 1972. I suggest picking up the 2 CD's Ive mentioned, simply because you'll get this recording from it's original source.
- After reading about this EP in Martin Popoff's book (Blue Öyster Cult/Secrets Revealed! - page 33), I just had to track down this CD. Recorded in a Rochester, NY bar (Nuggets Pizza Parlor?) on a 2-track reel-to-reel back in '72 (April 3rd?), this 4 song set is said to be among the best live BÖC captured to date. It was originally released as a 12" promo by Columbia between BÖC's first 2 albums (Blue Öyster Cult/January, 1972 & Tyranny And Mutation/February, 1973). If you already own the remastered Tyranny And Mutation CD (2001) then you have the Cities On Flame cut. If you have the Workshop Of The Telescopes (1995) double disc compilation then you have the remaining 3 songs. All I know is that this CD is an excellent example of BÖC doing what they do best - playing live.

- This is the best Eric Burdon concert captured on CD ever. No question about it. It's from Eric Burdon's I Band's 1996-tour, and it captures the power of Erics vocals, and the genious of the now late Larry Wilkins. Every single one of the songs are absolutely great! No matter if you like Eric Burdon or not, this concert is a must for anyone who likes good rock music!
- If you are going to get either of the two Official Live Bootleg CD's, this one is the best. I have both...but this one has an incredible rendition of Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing/I Don't Mind. That alone makes the CD worth buying. But, honestly, both are important because they are taken from the latest live shows which give you a taste of his INCREDIBLE presence, enthusiasm and vocal abilities that have only gotten better with age. Like a fine red wine...
- This is a live recording of the 1996 German Tour with his best old songs, always the same good voice. At the drums the super "Aynsley Dunbar" and on guitars two super guys Larry Wilkins (died since) and the young Dean Restum. I've see it at few time on stage in Germany and always i was fascinated by his great voice and his choice to find good musician. One new song "You got me floatin'". Fan of Burdon, buy it NOW...!

2 comments about Great: Chicago in Concert.
- This is one of the innumerable releases of Chicago's performance at the Toronto Rock n Roll Festival in 1969.
I have already commented on this elsewhere (see under the title "Chicago" on the Classic World label). Without repeating myself too much... The sound quality is not exactly pristine, but still listenable. The real reason to own this album, if you prefer Chicago's 1969-72 period, is Terry Kath's performances on `Introduction', `25 or 6 to 4' and `Questions 67 and 68' - in particular the last two tunes which are not only superior to their studio incarnations, they may in fact be the best versions ever. (The guitar intro on this version of `Questions' is one of my absolute favorite Chicago-moments). Another highlight is the performance of `Beginnings', which on many reissues is confused with `Introduction' - hunt high and low for a reissue with all eight songs intact! (Note: I used the Kids Review form due to a technical error which erased the regular form. I am in fact ghengisadonis, aged twenty-something).
- this cd is basically compromised of songs from the first album, with one song from chicago II, 25 or 6 to 4. Overall, some good classic songs, like Beginnings and 26or624. I give two stars basically for these two songs.
