- I have only been to one live performance of The Hoopsnakes, about a year ago, and this was the CD that fans said even their mothers would listen to. At this time of year, I like to hear something like this, and it is ironic for me that staying out late would be a key clue in the song "I Can Tell," which expresses the kind of epistomology that rock and roll has always been for me. The next song had Bruce McCabe singing about you lying and cheating and you used to laugh at him. Well, his piano plays out the resulting confusion and the electric guitars make the crowd want to rattle and shake better than any monster truck I ever saw.
- I had this album as a cassette tape which was played so much, it eventually broke. So, I was happy to be able to find the CD online. I'd missed listening to it for a few years. It's a great album from a great band.
- Beyond a shoadow of a doubt, this is my very favorite live recording bar none. No one could deliver a party on a CD like the Hoopsnakes. Infectious, rollicking, joyous and danceable, this CD may be the most fun you've never heard.
- Definitely the best local band the Twin Cities has probably ever seen. I feel extremely fortunate over several years to have witnessed the enormous talent this band has. Most live albums don't seem to do a band justice, but this one does. With the "die hard" fans taking part in some of the songs and an occasional glass breaking in the background, you feel like you're right there - I was. If you never got the opportunity to hear these guys, do yourself a favor and pick up this CD. You won't regret it.
- Bruce McCabe's vocals and piano drive this unforgettably fun blues band's live show recorded at The Cabooze Bar in Mpls. The beat will make you wanna dance in your living room. Charlie Bingham's guitar solos are the cleanest you'll ever hear. This CD will grow on you with every listen....be careful if you listen while driving down the freeway....'cause I know you'll be speeding before the first song is complete. This band was the #1 bar band in the Twin Cities from the late 80's until '96. They are currently sidelined by the fact that their leader Bruce McCabe is now the keyboardest and songwriter for young bluesman Jonny Lang. Jonny's latest album Wander This World features a few from Bruce, most notably Still Rainin' and First Impressions.

- I saw Roger & his band at a blues festival in June (2003)here in Nebraska. He came on earlier than he was supposed to and kept playing long after his turn was to end. It reminded me of Duane Allman or Eric Clapton the way they don't want to end a song. For a three man band they can really crank out some fine music, from slow rocking & traditional blues to full on boogie. This CD is pretty much representative of what I heard at the festival, which is where I bought the CD(for a great price). I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes listening to great guitar & gutsy vocals. I would also recommend seeing him in concert if you get the chance. The Man Really Loves To Play.

- I really hadn't listened to Etta James before, but recently heard a couple of her songs on [...] - well, I liked them and decided to get a cd. This woman really does Rock the House! What a voice! She reminds me a little of Tina Turner when she was with Ike. I think Janis Joplin may have been influenced somewhat by Etta James. I'm very happy with my purchase.
- An absolute masterpiece. I listen to it over and over and I am still amazed at the energy and creativeness she puts in each song. There is one slow song on the cd that kind of breaks the rockin' mood, but it is still an awesome cd, one of my all time favorites.
- One of the greatest live club recordings in Blues, and the only one from Etta's early career. You can feel the party; folks are screaming, Etta's steaming, the whole country was still reeling from her '61 At Last! recording that will also knock your shoes off and have you rocking the house yourself. Oh, Etta sings some beautiful blues, you know, but she can rip out some heart-wrenching gutteral gospel, too; it's all here in this one-night show. Just 25 years old and in full power, Live.
The audience is up screaming and dancing from the first number and Etta immediately slides into the sexiest version of Jimmy Reed's Baby, Any Way You Want Me To Do, giving the song all new meaning. Just four years earlier Ray Charles topped the charts with What I Say, and Etta belts it out true to form with all the flavor Ray gave it, and the audience is absolutely enthralled. You are right there with them on this recording.
She puts The Beatles to shame on Money (That's What I Want), and beat them to it here, rocking out to the tune originally recorded by Motown writer Barrett Strong in 1959. The Beatles made a hit out of it in '63 only after this show. They've Etta James to thank for warming Americans up to the beat.
The house stays on their feet keeping the floor wet though a rocking bluesy Seven Day Fool and they don't get a rest till the guitarist gets to put on a show of his own with Sweet Little Angel; a B.B. King classic, sung by Etta "with a feeling" as Little Walter wrote and Paul Butterfield so famously quoted and promoted. Oh, what a feeling. The first set ends here and we break for drinks!
Encore time! Ooh Poo Pah Doo gets the fans all riled up and dancing again. You can imagine a mixed crowd of revelers, drinks and smokes set down now, see 'em Twisting in front of the band and throughout the aisles. Back to B.B. King for Woke Up This Morning in rockin' double time, and Etta finishes off her party sending everyone home sweaty and in the mood with another Jimmy Reed classic, Ain't That Lovin' You Baby.
Oh, Baby, what a night!
- Years ago a friend had this on cassette. I finally found it on Amazon.com. What a woman! What a voice! I recommend this CD to anyone who likes Etta James. This CD always gets me moving and smiling.
- This album is the best album I own, and I own a lot of music. If you don't love the emotion, intensity, and power of this than nothing can move you.

- This is a cd for those people who want to try an emotional experience. When you put this cd at the player and run it,one of the best harp player performances will begin. What we can expect from this complete bluesman??An incendiary powerful performance at that club in Chicago, imediatelly will put you to dance for all the night. The performance is really astonishing, something like a Devil's presence, on that stage. For me, one of the best "Live Harp"cds ever released yet!!Marvellous!!!

- Don't buy this as IMHO (being an old Johnny Winter fan for over 30 yrs), I honestly don't think Johnny Winter had anything to do with any part of this CD. It's made in France, all writing is in French, has no credits, listings or photos to any players and mostly, there's NO part of any of it that even sounds remotely like Johnny Winters guitar, NO not even his very early stuff from the mid 60s.
I'm going to try returning my copy as I'm sure it's a fake. I don't know who's really playing on it but it's poor quality, very old and not worth keeping.
- Mercifully, Johnny Winter does not sing on this album, but his second guitar adds a lot. There are just four songs on this rather short CD, but two of them clock in at about 15 minutes each. The CD opens with a Big Boss Man that would have made Pigpen of the Grateful Dead proud, and then there are a couple of fairly forgettable tunes before the CD closes with another long jam, this one on Bright Lights, Big City.

- Two big monster of the Blues like guitarist Eddy Clearwater and harmonica Carey Bell don't deserve this very poor sound in this recording. I'ts a surprise for me this very bad sound recording because the important WOLF RECORDS with a marvelous Blues catalog enjoy normally of very good sound all their records.
About musics it is not necessary to say something concerning to them, they are great Bluesman two of the best.
Another thing is about songs, apart from the sound, the two Blues-Rock songs "I Wouldn't Lay My Guitar Down" and "Jump Back Jack" are a little loud and monotonous, the remainder you can consider they are very good specially "I'm Gonna Move", "Last Night" and "One Day",also beacuse this three Blues are very good Blues per se, I insist on apart from a bad sound. I like very much the large Clearwater and Bell discography but to this Wolf record I only can grant 2,5 stars basically by its bad sound.
