  1. I saw Kelly play live (she's outstanding) and I had to buy this CD for her version of 'Hey Joe'. Years ago I saw both Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan live. Although I wouldn't say Kelly is quite as accomplished technically as these two, she comes very close. She also plays with great feeling and sings well -- her voice sounds like Janis Joplin but is less grating. But the main attraction here is her guitar playing. The audio quality/sound mix on this album is also great -- sounds like a studio recording, with a nice thick bottom. HIghly recommended for electric blues fans.

  2. this cd is phenomenal ! can't say it any better than that. I just saw her in concert. She's a mean guitarist...a great performer. Her voice sounds like Joplin...AWESOME! Definitely go for this CD...and if you can ever go and see her, she is not to be missed!

  1. BEING THAT I MADE THIS PURCHASE IN FEBRUARY 2007 AND THE CD WAS RELEASED IN 1984 I KNEW I WAS TAKING A CHANCE BASED ON ONE OF SHAQ'S "The King Of The World Blues Reviewer" MAIN CRITERIA: SOUND QUALITY! THIS CD TYPIFIES ONE OF MY WORST FEARS! POOR RECORDING QUALITY. ALBERT COLLINS, IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST ELECTRIC BLUES GUITARIST'S, BUT THE SOUND QUALITY IS VERY POOR! IN ADDITION, 39 MINUTES IS PRETTY SHORT FOR A LIVE BLUES PERFORMANCE. UNLESS YOU'RE A COLLECTOR, WHO JUST WANTS TO PUT A CHECK MARK ON ALL OF ALBERT'S RECORDINGS, I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THE PURCHASE.

  2. Mr. Collins is without a doubt my favorite guitarist. If you want to play in Texas, you have to play music people can dance to, and this influence is evident in Albert's live music. His Telecaster set up produces a more powerful sound, and his sense of humor can be detected in all his CDs. His potent blues riffs cut "way down deep into your soul".

This is a good CD with some soul piercing blues as well as some foot tapping good time tunes. The Master is accompanied by a small backup band. It's a gritty, all out jam.

  3. Albert Collins unleashes the soul of blues guitar on this album! From beginning to end this recording cuts to the listener's core, as Collins' guitar performs musical surgery with a master's skill! All of the songs are great, but the real gem is "Stormy Monday." Collins' version is simply outstanding! In this song Albert Collins truly pierces the very soul of the listener, and lifts it to a higher place! The guitar solo is breathtaking! This album is full of great music, and should be owned by every real fan of blues. Buy it now and experience the depth of a blues legend.

  4. This cd is really an explosive mix, blended with the great presence of this power trio in one of perhaps, the best "Live"performances ever released.Casey Jones on drums;A.C. Reed on sax and the "Iced-hot Man" Albert Collins is really an explosive mix you must try on!!!

  5. It is impossible to describe the raw energy of this CD. Don't even think of sitting down! Your foot will be tapping inside of 30 seconds flat. You will be dancing in the kitchen. The greatest legal pick-me-up since caffein. It's like stickin' your finger right into the Blues socket when your momma isn't lookin'. It feels so fun it must be bad.

Carefully save this CD for that dark, grey day when you just don't have the get-up-and-go to do what you have to do that day. Then insert this CD and crank the volume waaay up. It could save your life.

  1. Why doesn't this guy have more CD's? I was turned on to him by Hohner Harmonicas website. He's endorsed by them. He plays Chicago Blues style Harp like nobodys business. And finally, FINALLY, a harp player with some soul! Rough and graveled voice where there should be and smooth where there should be. If you know blues, this CD is for you. If you don't know blues, you like it anyway.

  1. Some years ago I was listening to the Doctor Demento show. Dr. D's shows have a lot of the same material, week after week. But now and again you get to hear something that just grabs you. So it was when Dr. D played "Freeway to Stairbird" from this album. If the title amuses you then this album will likely make you laugh.

  2. Good stuff buy it if you've paid Uncle Calvin the money you owe him.

  1. A great historically document of Cordell Jackson. A talented Memphis blues musician who accomplished many firsts in her long career: first woman record lable owner for one. Cordell has passed and there aren't many available recordings of her Rockin' Country Blues. This solo recording lacks the musical depth of a full band performance, but catches the energy of her personality and playing. It is wonderful that Bughouse Records took the time to put together this nice package. Recomended

  2. Cordell shreds. She unleashes a sonic storm wielding her Hagstrom Corvette like a crazed hyena hopped up on goofballs. She makes those twits from whatever 'punk/boy band' is currently popular look like 2 year olds cryin' for momma. Long live Cordell!

  3. Raw Rockin Live Rockabilly by a living legend well into her sixties. You may remember her as the granny that played circles around Brian Setzer in a Beer commercial a few years back. Well she does, play circles around Setzer that is.Her playing style falls into the same catagory as her "rockabilly grandkids", Dexter Romweber formerly of "The Flat Duo Jets" ,and Poison Ivy of "The Cramps". She is a one of a kind original and this record comes with the higfhest recommendations.A+
