- I first heard Bryan Lee in a New Orleans night club in 1999, purchasing my first album on the spot which Mr Lee kindly autographed.
Within 3 months I had purchased 3 more of his albums online back home in Australia.
'Life and Dangerous' is a welcome addition to my blues collection IMHO a great new live album to sit along side his early Friday & Saturday night live CD's.

- "Live" music sometimes disappoints. This recording featuring Bryan Lee captures an amazing amount of the joyful intensity of his actual stage presence. Highly recommended.
- Great voice, songs, guitar and band--special kudos to Mark Katz on organ. This cd was my intro to Bryan Lee, and it told me everything I needed to know about Bryan Lee's music. He absolutely loves to play and is quite good at it. This remains one of my favorite live cds. Lots of energy, great change of pace, and all of this in front of a very appreciative crowd. Highly recommended indeed!
- I first saw Bryan Lee performing at the 2000 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and was left wondering why I hadn't heard of him before. He's obviously been around for a while and can play the blues in a unique style that's his own. I recommend any CD's of his and this latest one has him playing & singing even better than before.
- Although I am a big Bryan Lee fan, this is not his best work. The "Friday Night" and "Saturday Night" as still his best live CD's.

- Lonnie Brooks is one of the BEST! If you enjoy real up beat blues you will LOVE this!!! I bought 5 more of his CD's after this one. Highly recommend all of his music he is really fabulous. You won't be sorry both my husband and I have truly enjoyed Lonnie's work. You will find yourself turning up the volume and dancing as you become addicted to this man's music.
- One of the most happy blues albums, this one recorded at a Chicagoan Club, reveals all of the magic of Lonnie's gutural voice and his really fast way to play guitar. The best sets are "One More Shot" and the sensational version of "Hideaway",plus the emotional"In the Dark"! You will really buy this one,and of course..... ....never will be the same!

- Rory was always one of my favorite guitar players, I think this was his best work. It captured the energy of his live performances. He plays Electric, Acoustic, Harmonica, and Mandolin on this CD.

1 comments about Percy Mayfield Live.
- The late Percy Mayfield wrote hit songs for Ray Charles, and he was a minor star of his own during the 1950s. He faded from sight, however, though he never stopped performing. Due to a car accident, he also had health problems which set back his career. These live recordings from the early 1980s prove that Mayfield never ever lost his touch as a singer. On these numbers, mostly slow, dark blues, he comes through as one of the most powerful storytellers the blues ever heard. His quiet, deep, rich voice virtually overpowers the listener, and his songs are masterpieces of loneliness and long lost love. Still, his warm humorous chuckle is never far away. The audience is right in Mayfield's palm here, and as a home listener, you are not likely to lag far behind... Mayfield is definitely ripe for major rediscovery, and this cd really needs to be heard.

- Frank "Son" Seals performs a handful of his best songs on this 1996 live album, including "Your Love Is Like A Cancer", "Every Goodbye Ain't Gone", and "Don't Pick Me For Your Fool".
The sound is very good, and Seals plays some gritty guitar licks, backed by a small horn section. All good, eh?
Well, I know that last bit won't be to everybody's liking, and the trumpet which pops up here and there grates on my nerves as well. But that's a minor quibble, and most of the time you don't even notice it...Seals' guitar and his gruff voice is firmly in control, and fans should certainly enjoy this album. I wouldn't recommend it as the place to start, however; little things the synthetic sounding organ and the grotesque flute solo which marrs an otherwise good "The Sun Is Shining" means that Son Seals and his music is better presented to newcomers on albums like "Deluxe Edition" and his debut LP "The Son Seals Blues Band".
Still, the good easily outnumbers the bad, and when Sidney James Whingfield stays away from the organ and plays the piano instead, like on "I Need My Baby Back", it is very good indeed. And the horns, which aren't scored all that interestingly, actually work really well on the punchy "No, No Baby".
A bit more variation in mood and tempo would have been nice, though.
- Even if you don't believe in the reality of spontaneous combustion, this album will make you a believer. You can't go wrong with song titles like'Your Love is Like a Cancer'...The album also features a number of excellent previously unreleased songs, all done by Seals and his live band in their unique manner...blues like molten lava.A historic performance.
- If you have never heard a Son Seals cd, this is the one to hear. He rumbles through 60+ minutes of "Bad Axe" blues. Seals sets the ultimate mood in blues with "Mother Blues" and jams all the way through the finale, "Don't Lie to Me". With an eclectic backing band, including an impressive horn section, this is a must hear for all Music fans not just blues fans.
