- Like most of the reviewers before me, we admit that this is not the best Bad Brains Live CD if you only consider the audience size and participation, production, etc. But when you listen to the raw energy of the band, the individual and combined musical performances by each member(much better than the "Youth are getting restless")and the song selections...you will understand and experience the true Bad Brains at their best.
HR seemed to be inspired during his vocal performances on their classics, and Dr. Know's guitar solos are sonically stratospheric.
On an artistic level, comparing their two live CDs are just like comparing Picasso to Leonardo. Both are creative geniuses, however Leornado is technically proficent where Picasso's work seems raw and more emotional. I believe the "Live" CD is true raw perfection where the "Youth Are Getting Restless" is obviously more polished.
I had this on cassette and fnally found a copy on CD...it is in my permanent rotation! Get it now!!!
- Bad Brains have to have been at this time, the tightest band I have ever heard play live (which I did on numerous occasions 1988-1993). And this recording captures their tight, high energy performances perfectly.
While I like "Youth Are Getting Restless", I think this recording better captures the sound and fury of the "I Against I" era of Bad Brains (my favorite point in their career). This is one of my top 3 personal favorite live recordings....it definately does the band justice !
- This is a really good cd, it shows the Bad Brains could play great concerts in front of little crowds. The songs are all good choices, and sound even better than the album versions. My personal favorite is I and I Survive. H.R.'s voice is really energetic on songs like At The Movies and Secret 77. This was of a concert from around 1988, when they were really into metal. Bad Brains were original, and you can hear their performing talent.
- This is a really great "Bad Brains" album, with a good live performance, and even better song selection. Included is "Right Brigade", "I Against I", "Re-Ignition", and the cover of "Day Tripper". I could listen to this punk reggae forever. But, even though this and "Spirit Electricity" are great live albums, neither is as good as "The Youth Are Getting Restless". That's 17 tracks of furious perfection. Too bad they don't play like it anymore.
- bad brains what a great band here is sum of their songs recorded live in 84 i think. the album is great not as hard core as the usual but great for being done live.

- It took a few listens to get used to it, but I find this 1998 gem to be one of their best. The Beastie's have ditched the funk beats and reduced the number of samples (all fine and dandy, but it was time for something new), and the result is something sublime.
- Ooh, part 2 has an Alive remix, and a Jam cover "Start." I wish the boys would release those action figure dolls and fatten their pockets even more.

3 comments about Apocalypse Now.
- Since I've heard a few people here and there rant and rave about Pere Ubu,I thought maybe it'd be good to check the band out for myself.'Apocalypse Now' is a fourteen track disc that was recorded live at a small club,Shuba's in Chicago in front of a VERY enthusiastic crowd that took place on December 7,1991.Tunes that I dug the most were the somewhat humorous "Spontaneous Simultude",the well written "Wine Dark Sparks","Worlds In Collision" and "Non Alignment Pact".What makes Pere Ubu so specail?David Thomas's fine vocals, the stellar acoustic guitar playing and their use of a slightly out-of-tune piano. One thing for sure,'Apocalypse Now' SURE has that feel-like-you're-there vibe to it.See for yourself.
- This is a marvelous piece of work. It is my experience that 99.9% of all live albums are miserable, so this recording is all the more remarkable. David Thomas shines in this performance. While the cover of Iggy Pop's "I Wanna be your Dog" is a pleasant surprise, the pieces de resistance are the "Modern Dance" selections. This is a must buy for all Pere Ubu fans. After listening, truly you will wish you were there...
- Taken from what I think they called "The Kindness of Strangers" tour in 1991 (it was backed by an anonymous donor), this is a live set of 14 songs; many of them are from the very pop-oriented Worlds In Collision. The sound is adequate; the David Thomas banter shines as usual. I would have liked a few more noisy Pere Ubu tracks, but this is a great reminder that you should never miss a live Ubu show if given the rare opportunity. (PS - I saw the tour's Washington, DC show; Pere Ubu opened up for the terse Pixies and easily stole the show.)

5 comments about 01/6/00 - The Point Theater, Dublin, Ireland.
- Disclaimer: Owner of all 72 official PJ bootlegs. This is an honest review from a PJ fanatic who honestly loves them for releasing all these bootlegs. This show in Dublin is just a lousy performance. The shows immediately before and after this one (London 2 and Glasgow) are far better. The band manages to keep the Dublin crowd entertained, but this bootleg is docked one more star due to the sheer laziness and "who cares" attitude that are clearly evident all over these discs. They can't blame this one on faulty equipment or a bland atmosphere. The low points of this show include "Alive" in which the supposedly grandiose solo at the end collapses into utter destruction, the failed attempt at a rollicking finale to "Lukin," and a tepid performance of "Garden" that is so lazy it's almost insulting. In fact, after "Alive" Stone Gossard says "tonight was one of those nights when we probably shouldn't have played that song!" He's right. This show almost redeems itself with a genuinely emotional performance of "Black," which is the surprise show closer tonight. I hope the Dubliners went home only remembering the final song.
- This is amazing. Although it is one of the shorter gigs from the European tour, it does not fail to showcase Pearl Jam's extensive back catolouge. The music is intense, Vedder as always is soul capturing. I have purchased all of the European bootlegs and find this one to be the most unique in many ways. The band stride through a scroching version of 'Garden', 'Do the evolution' is Pearl Jam at there absoloute best. Stone and Mike fumble through 'Alive' which makes it all the more special. 'Black' is tantalising and is the suitable closer for what must have been a hectic night for both fans and band alike. Buy this album for a lesson in legendary rock music at its peak.
- To think that someday Pearl Jam's music will be considered "oldies"! If you get one or more of these live albums, this one is a great place to start. Pearl Jam hasn't missed a beat since Ten (OK, so No Code wasn't that great) so you'll be doing yourself a huge favor by getting one that falls heavily on their first two albums.
"Daughter" and "Elderly Woman..." are already sing-along classics, and you'll also find GREAT cuts from Ten. One highlight is "Garden", a song that even Eddie Veddar admits the band "hasn't done in awhile" but they nail it nonetheless. The second disk (a meager 40 minutes) is worth the 12 bucks alone. It starts with scorchers "Go", "Do the Evolution" and "Lukin" before settling into a softer finale with "Garden" and a great version of "Black." I can't bring myself to give this set five stars due to some minor imperfections - namely, Eddie's ramblings that slow the pace of an otherwise fantastic show. I have heard some of the other shows, but this is the one that keeps finding its way back into my CD player. Wherever music trends take us over the next 20 years, it's good to know that Pearl Jam has left behind these treasures that will be played and played again for many years to come. (4.5 stars)
- Talk about a brilliant marketing concept! Take a band which is known for their intimate live performances, make beautiful recordings of their shows, and sell the hell out of it. If this album is any indication of how good the rest of these recordings are, I'm going to be picking up a couple more. As fans, we should hope and pray that this becomes a viable proposition for our favorite bands to do.
It is hard to put into words the value you get when you pick this up - two discs with minimal packaging for a great price. You're buying music, not a record studio's production of it. Anyways, this is exactly the type of show Pearl Jam is famous for. Fantastic music with personalized stories from front-man Eddie Vedder. McCready and Gossard sound amazing together, even when they completely flub "Alive" (how many times do you think they've played that song?). I, for one, am happy to know that the guys are human (I was beginning to wonder). Even when they screw up they're having a great time and their enthusiasm is completely infectious. Playing this at my house for my roommates, brought back pleasant memories of shows past. Good times for all! And to close with "Black"? You've got to be kiddin' me! Do yourself a favor - if you own Pearl Jam albums and have never heard them live, pick one of these up. If you've already seen them, you shouldn't need any convincing.
- I was at this concert and thats the reason I have bought this particular one. I did not want it to finish , particularly after an absolutely magnificent 8 minutes of Black to close the show. A complete recording of one night in its entirety, rather than picking tracks from this one and that was a bold but exciting decision....Two hours (almost)in the bands history. A Gold medal please to whoever thought of the idea.I heard that the sound quality was very good BUT I CANNOT ACTUALLY BELIEVE HOW SUPERB IT IS. In my opinion its better than "ON TWO LEGS", their 1998 US tour record. The guitars are more up-front. All 6 studio records are well represented and the five guys are also in "GOLD MEDAL" form. Every track, without exception is outstanding.

4 comments about Post Live.
- Sure a studio recording is great because it is so enhanced and flawless yet a live performance is so much better and shows off a lot more talent. Many artists can produce stunning recordings but in concert they are either pathetic or all they do is lip-synch. Bjork is not one of those singers, she is something totally different. Her original "Post" album was stunning but this live version may not be the whole original LP live but it offers some insight into her as a live performer.
I have never seen Bjork live, on TV or in concert so this may have been a challenge to me however it wasn't and this album perfectly complements that fact. Why see her live when you have this? I didn't buy this as part of the box set that you can get.
I bought it individually for $19.95 and it is well worth the money. In fact I bought it with lunch money and I had to miss out on dinner (well, not exactly I had some small McDonald's fries) however the point is I missed out on two meals for this and those missed meals were well worth it.
The first track on this album closed the original. "Headphones" is a great track yet here it seems a little hushed. Bjork makes a huge effort with the echo vocals and pulls it of well. "Army Of Me" the grating song of the original here starts off with an army drum march beat then heaves into the song where the vocals flurry with the swirling electronica.
"One Day" comes from "Debut" and is re-worked here to perfection and I say perfection because my review of "Debut" garnered it only an average 3 stars. Here it is way more mature and flowing.
A short track now made longer? "The Modern Things" sounds far longer than the original and this track really is one of the highlights of this album. The bit which sounds like the chorus ("Tahi" etc,) has a great instrument with it that sounds like an accordion but I'm not really quite sure what it is.
"Isobel" sounds exactly like the original and I have never quite realised what the lyrics are meanings they are quite abstract.
"Possibly Maybe" is a quiet version of the original, this gives the track a more dynamic and intimate feeling.
Undoubtedly the best track from "Post" was the epic song "Hyperballad". On this version it is basically the same but if you listen carefully you can hear that the string arrangement is totally new. Where did this track come from? "I Go Humble" is a rare exlcusive track that hasn't been on any studio albums. This is quite a funky track with great instrumentation.
"Big Time Sensuality" has been remixed and re-arranged so many times that the novelty has worn off, and it isn't even from "Post"! Yet it is enjoyable nonetheless.
The real scary track from the original was "Enjoy". The track is still really scary and remains as Bjork's second weirdest song just behind "Pluto".
"I Miss You" was a casualty from Bjork's greatest hits album and here is just superb and much better than the original.
I have never really liked her biggest hit "It's Oh So Quiet" and here it is the same, live it is really average.
But another stand-out would be "Anchor Song" which on "Debut" had a horrible horn section yet that has been replaced here in favour of a beautiful accordion.
Overall this is a great listen and I think it far surpasses the original. So go ahead and miss two meals for this gem.
- I received Bjork's "Live Box" as a Christmas present for 2004 and was so excited to finally have my hands on it. I had, after all, wanted to own this box set a few months prior to actually owning it. The four CD's contained within it are live versions of Bjork's first four solo studio albums "Debut," "Post," Homogenic" and "Vespertine." It's taken me quite a while to truly appreciate them all as individual sets, but it's been worth it because it is truly an exceptional piece of music to add to any Bjork fan's collection.
The second album in the collection is "Post Live." The majority of this album is anywhere from good to excellent, with only a few moments which could be interpreted as weak. In comparison to "Debut Live," this is a much stronger body of live material because Bjork has definitely become more aware of her musical capabilities. Her vocal performances are total knockouts and the music itself is very varied. Bjork has said herself that even though "Debut" was very well received, she knew deep down that it wasn't her best and that she could do so much more. She certainly proved that over the next decade, but let's just analyse the Post-era before we delve into Bjork's complex career! There are a total of 13 songs on this live album, 9 of which were recorded live at the Shepherds Bush Concert in London on 27th February 1997. This collection of songs gives a more worldly feel to the phenomenon that is Bjork because there's a proper concert audience in many cases. There's also a brilliant European feel to many of these songs.
The album opens with the beautiful "Headphones." The song that closed the Post album opens the live one here in beautiful style. This amazing ambient piece is the perfect opener. Bjork adopts cool sound fields on this song, showing that she has a stronger grasp over the concept of a concert. Her voice soars in this song, before continuing with the classic "Army Of Me." This song has a chugging beat to open with before crashing and diving after twenty seconds into the funky electro-clash that became a classic staple of 1995. The brash industrial beats fill the arena making for an electrifying performance. "One Day" is taken a step further from the Debut Live album. The woodwind qualities of that version have been perfected here with almost computerised arrangements. A beat all of its own is created just for the live version, showing Bjork's limitless creative edge. "The Modern Things" is an amazing live piece which is memorable because Bjork seems to adopt the accordion! This, of course, gives the song a European flavour. The mixture of this with hi-tech beats and bleeps is something to marvel at. "Isobel" continues with this accordion flavour, which is much more prominent here than before. The song structure is almost the same as in the original, but the instruments are different, allowing the song room to breathe.
"Possible Maybe" is taken from a performance on "Later With Jools Holland" on 17th June 1995, some 18 months before the main bulk of performances on this disc. This version isn't really much different to the original, which has both positive and negative aspects - perhaps Bjork hadn't fully realised the potential of her music in a live showcase, which is a negative, but is positive because it shows the advance her music undergoes over the next few years. "Hyper-Ballad" is a classic Bjork song which is given great live treatment here. This performance is also from the same show as the previous track. I can't really say much about this live performance apart from the fact that it's beautiful. "I Go Humble" is a rare Bjork song which can't be found on any studio album. It's a rather unusual little song which you'll find annoying at first but keeps popping up in your head when you listen to this album. "Big Time Sensuality" is beautiful in this live version. Bjork slows it down a slight notch. Her vocals are more realised and the song features some amazing electronic bleeps and blips. This song is amazing and definitely one of the best live performances she's ever done, because it comes to life in an unprecedented way. It's almost like seeing what you're hearing - 3D Bjork!
"Enjoy" is far and away one of my favourite Bjork songs ever. I find it to be so primal and powerful, and this live version is stunning as well, even if it doesn't live up to the album version. "I Miss You" is another one of my favourite Bjork songs, and this live version is so complex and intricate that it hardly sounds different from the original. Everything is in place such as the beats and the time it takes for them to roll in and set off something else. Bjork sings her heart out here, using all her body and soul to express all the emotions she's experiencing. "It's Oh So Quiet" is one of my least favourite Bjork songs, but it is, ironically (for me), her biggest selling song ever. People who don't like her could only name this as her one song, which annoys me and has resulted in a sort of hatred of this song! However, the live version is rather good. The first "Sssh!" Bjork does is so cute, it makes me giggle every time. The album closes with "Anchor Song." Despite my dislike of the original version of this song, this live version is actually rather good. The bland brass instruments of the original are replaced by the accordion which adds a romantic feel to the song. The little tunes after Bjork's singing are also more muddled which I find interesting.
OVERALL GRADE: 9/10
"Post Live" is a great addition to any Bjork fan's collection and is a great starting place for newcomers who want to experience this genius in concert. Most people would recommend "Debut Live" as the starting point for new listeners, but I think this album offers a more interesting listen on the character that is Bjork. She is many different personas and characters. She is not a single being. Her essence is split into so many different themes and ideas that it's impossible to comprehend, which is why I think this album is a great place to start. The music is stronger as are Bjork's vocals. There's more attitude than ever before, displaying a number of raw emotions - anger, happiness, sadness and a lot of others Maybe she invented some emotions, who knows. She invents everything else! Buy this now, you're sure to love it.
- I looove this c.d. Post is one of my favorite Bjork cd's so the live version is a real treat. Although all the songs are basically the same from the Live At Shepard's Bush DVD, the quality of the songs are amazing. The version of Big Time Sensuality here is absolutely AMAZING, like nothing I've ever heard and Army of Me is great too. I would recommend this cd to fans of Bjork but would suggest people new to her music should check out Post first and then give the live version a listen.
- TAKE THE SONGS FROM ANOTHER POST LIVE PERFORMANCES. THESE SONGS ARE THE SAME AS THE DVDs THAT I ALREADY HAVE EXCEPT FROM THE "IT'S OH SO QUIET" BUT IT IS INCLUDED IN THE DVD THAT COMES WITH THE RECENTLY RELEASED LIVE BOX SET SO WE GO BACK TO THE SAME POINT;ARE THIS ONE LITTLE INDIAN TRICKS? SO WE JUST GO AND BUY ANOTHER DVD OR CD BECAUSE IT HAS ONE DIFERENT SONG?. I AM SURE THAT THERE ARE LOTS OF MORE GREAT PERFORMANCES FROM THE POST TOUR THAN ONLY THE ONES THAT I (AND I KNOW OTHER FANS DO) ALREADY HAVE IN THE DVDs LIVE SERIES, BUT AFTER ALL THIS IS BJORK AND I LOVE TO LISTEN TO HER SONGS LIVE ON MY CD PLAYER. HER IMPROVISING IN LIVE TOURS ALWAYS AMAZE ME!!!
I AM HOPING NEXT TIME THEY DO ANOTHER CDs LIVE SERIES THEY COULD INCLUDE NEVER RELEASED MATERIAL =) ***AND FOR NOT ALL BJORK LOVERS I RECOMEND TO YOU TO BUY THE POST CD IN ITS NORMAL RELEASE***

- The cover is a good reflection of the music itself. Bowie looks unnatural, stiff, mannequin like. The music itlelf sounds unnatural; Bowie trying to do smooth soul. I'm trying to think of a greater incongruity than David Bowie doing soul, but it's difficult. Maybe Condaleeza Rice as a stand up comedienne, or Samuel Jackson as a Jedi knight(oh wait...) There might be some metaphorical polite smattering of applause at such an unexpected turn of events, trying to reassure yourself that it's not so bad. I know that Bowie's whole schtick was reinventing himself every 2 years or so, but this is, quite frankly one of the most boring live albums I've heard. It's so fake sounding, and forced. David Bowie the caberet performer. Full of brass and backup singers as if to say "Hey, we're playing soul. Do you see?" Recorded in Philidelphia it proclaims. Just because it was recorded in the home of "Philly soul" doesn't mean that any authenticity is going to creep into the concert. Most of the songs are from a time he was writing his own type of odd songs, and they get played as if they were smooth soul. No wonder Bowie looks perplexed on the cover.
And needless to say he couldn't sing his way out of a wet paper bag.
- I still hold this album up as the pinnacle of live rock performances. One year later, when "Frampton Comes Alive" was playing on every car stereo, I was still blaring "Knock On Wood" and "Suffragette City" through the streets of NYC. It still holds up after 30 plus years (...and I'm not a very big fan of Bowie either).
- This is David Live. Simple and straight forward. David Bowie on the Diamond Dogs tour. Earl Slick on Guitar Herbie Flowers on bass. Tony Newman on drums. David Sanborn & a host of others are there backing up Bowie as he takes over the Tower Theatre in Philly in July of 1974. Overall, this is a solid live album. Great mix of tunes. Bowie's voice is a little strained, but the musicians are tight and everything seems in order. Moonage Daydream, 1984, Changes, Aladin Sane, Diamond Dogs and a grip of other Bowie staples are here along with such gems as The Man Who Sold The World's Width Of A Circle. Worth the cash and the listen. The better of the Bowie live efforts? You decide. I prefer this over Stages.
Dig it!
- Not trying to be a jerk, but while this album is good, it's crap compared to the re-issue, which has remastered sound (finally, an album that could really use it and you can tell the difference) and has the songs in the original order. Plus there are two bonus tracks and cool new packaging. If you want to hear Bowie Live from '74, buy the re-issue. (Sorry Rykodisc; I do love all the Morphine records you put out in the 90s).
- No one has mentioned this song. The performance is worth the price of the cd. Whether or not Warren Peace overdubbed the backing vocals or not, the song is quintessential Bowie. Those who don't care for the record haven't turned it up loud enough. Please do. And I know that recommendation is bandied about a lot, but that might be the problem. The sheer desperation of the whole thing can be heard in his voice. The pressure leaks into the performance on "sweet thing" and "here today gone tomorrow." There is emotion here and its real. There's a percussion section and Mike Garson is tinkering in the background. Slick is ripping on "Cracked Actor"- the early hammering on style that presaged Eddie Van Halen. Slicks an odd one- a technically proficient guitarist with a nack for soul and good tone as well. God I wish I could see a visual version of this performance. Is there one out there in any form?

- I was a huge bauhaus fan back in high school (early 90s). My friend threw me a recent DVD rerelease a few days ago and I've been sucked back into the magic created by this band. Browsing around amazon I am shocked that this live release is still in print and that someone actually gave it 5 stars. Yes, you can love bauhaus, but you needn't slavishly give every release of theirs a perfect mark. If one negative stands out in my history of bauhaus love, it is how cheated I felt when I bought this CD. I rarely sell CDs, but this is one I would have gladly paid someone to take off my hands.
Consider this a warning to anyone tempted to hear 'the final live concert'. This recording is wretched. It has all of the quality of someone standing 10 rows back with a minicassette recorder and holding it up in the air. The crowd noise overwhelms the music and the music itself sounds thin and badly mixed. If you would like the thrill of a live bauhaus performance, consider picking up "press the eject and give me the tape" instead. The Bauhaus were great live, but you could never tell by the recording quality of this disc. This live cd is a cruel joke.
- The final concert. This album will be around for some time and it should be in your Bauhaus collection. Yes, the sound isnt that great, but who cares..your a Bauhaus fan?...right?.
- As a fan of both Bauhaus and Peter Murphy's solo work, I found this CD to be a real letdown. I've heard bootlegs that sound better than this official release! Terrible sound quality makes it sound like a garage band rehearsal session. You'd be much better off getting the Volume I and II set for a wonderful retrospective of this seminal band's work.
- On July 5th, 1983, Bauhaus played their last concert (well, last for 15 years, anyway) at the Hammersmith Palais in London. This is a live recording of that show, with no editing done on it. Disk one is the main show. Disk two is the encore, which went longer than expected and sent the message that the band was, as rumored, dead (undead undead undead). Rest in Peace.
the tracklist (amazon's welcome to put this into their format and remove it from my review) CD1 1 (Introduction) Satori (4:35) 2 Burning From the Inside (7:04) 3 In Fear of Fear (3:04) 4 Terror Couple Kill Colonel (3:32) 5 The Spy in the Cab (4:44) 6 Kingdom's Coming (3:22) 7 She's in Parties (4:15) 8 Antonin Artaud (3:27) 9 King Volcano (2:50) 10 Passion of Lovers (3:30) 11 Slice of Life (3:33) 12 In Heaven (2:52) 13 Dancing (2:54) 14 Hollow Hills (5:27) 15 Stigmata Martyr (3:40) 16 Kick in the Eye (3:21) 17 Dark Entries (4:34) CD2 1 Double Dare (4:58) 2 In the Flat Field (4:16) 3 Boys (2:41) 4 God In an Alcove (4:00) 5 Hair of the Dog (2:53) 6 Bela Lugosi's Dead (9:45)

- As the reviewer below said, this album is just a re-issue of 1987's "Live at the Bottom Line". The sound quality isn't a big improvement over the original release, and despite the buying info, there are no bonus tracks. However, live performances always have been an important part of DC's oeuvre. For the most part, the songs here are taken from the album "The guitar and other machines", but it's hard to reproduce the complicated and powerful sound of this album on stage. Except for some extended versions of DC classics like "Jacqueline" and "Missing boy", there's actually no reason for buying "Night in N.Y.". The studio album "The guitar and.." also features four live tracks with a better sound quality, recorded at WOMAD. By the way, DC's rarities collections "Dry" and "Red shoes" were recently reissued in Europe.
- This was an early 90's release, when Factory Records was still alive. It is a must for any Durutti Column fan that didn't catch the Column in concert. The live version of "Requiem" is outstanding. However, the sound quality of this recording leaves a lot to be desired.
