  1. Amazon's page is in error becasue it does not say that the product has 3 discs (49 songs). The UPC on my copy of this is 9397603315657 and when I searched by it here on Amazon, I came to this page. My UPC MATCHES Amazon's catalog but yields this page which shows the "Director's Cut"

  1. You've got to get this if for no other reason than Ash's amazing Ween cover "What Deaner Was Talkin' About". Great for Ween fans everywhere!

  2. I remember hearing this on Triple J when it was recorded and remembered really enjoying it. I went out bought 1977 and Trailer and have been a big fan ever since. While I'm not sure whether this was ever released in Australia, I'd never seen it anywhere until the other day when I saw and bought it 2nd hand. It's a great live recording - high quality but with all those personal touches that put you on the same wavelength as the band. I love Ween, so 'What Deaner was Talking About' was really a treat. Great sound, great songs, great band.

  1. The first disk of this live album is down right sublime. Nine tracks that act kind of like three, three-part suites representing the spaceman's whole career as Spiritualized (and even a SM3 throwback). All of the best aspects of our favorite space rocker are present with quiet passages. Noisy freakouts, Floydian guitars, horns, and blues-harp are all wrapped into epic celestial symphonies.

However, Disk two is not quite as strong. Aside from the ending hymn (if we can call it that), all the songs are off "Ladies and Gentlemen..." This leaves the disk feeling less interesting. Personally I am not a huge fan of Come Together's live version or of No God, Only Religion and Broken Heart in any version. Because of this I usually end up skipping the first half of the second disk. It's not terrible, but a bit of a let down compared to the first Disk. That said though, the first disk is well worth the price of admission.

  2. i once declared after a spiritualized show that i no longer believed in the written word. i wanted the whole of life to be sensations from heaven, and nothing to be planted firmly on paper again. it took about three months to get over that, but the memory is still strong... this disc captures part of that for me, especially since i won't see a show like that again for a long time. take that by itself or with a grain of salt.
to you and yours, j spaceman... let it flow haha!

  3. Very good live audio document of the Spiritualized '97 UK tour to release while the group's fans await the arrival of their next CD.'Royal Albert...' sounded rather uplifting to me,especially on disc one with "Shine A Light","Medication",the outstanding "Walking With Jesus"(maybe the 2-CD release's best track)and "Take Your Time".Sorry to say that somewhere on disc two,'Royal...' wears a bit thin. That's okay, not EVERY tune can be great.STILL a decent find,as the listener gets to hear founder/guitarist/vocalist Jason Pierce and company crank out some fine psychedelic-like space drone. The two discs add up to a total of 95 minutes,an actual full-length concert.Should appeal to fans of My Bloody Valentine,Flying Saucer Attack,Spacemen 3,Amp and The Verve.

  4. If you like Spiritualized then obviously you'll like this album. It offers so many songs, with hits such as "Electricity", "Medication", and "Walking with Jesus". All these songs sound just as good or better than their studio/album versions. Live at Royal Albert Hall was the first Spiritualized cd I got into. And will be a cd I will always come back to. So in the end, if you still can't decide what Spiritualized cd you want next, I extremely recomend this one for its diverseness, and for a successful Spiritualized journey.

  5. it's totally different interpretations of the original songs from their albums! & both versions are perfect!u're gonna miss a lot if u think it's jsut another live album coz the live version of [broken heart] does break yr heart right away! this live album is as good as,maybe even better than LADIES&GENTLEMEN.......

  1. you must admit, the adicts sound so much better on this live compilation than they do in the studio. they play faster and more turbo charged on this and turn even the lightest song into a headbanger.

  2. I love this cd, I'm even listening to it now. I have every Adicts cd, but I listen to this the most because it has a variety of tracks, and since it's live it gives off an energetic feel. I would recommend this cd to anyone who is interested in punk, primarily British.

  3. this cd is really good. every song on it is good and its fun to listen to. if you like the adicts even a little you'll like this cd. okay thats it i'm leaving goodbye

  4. Yes, this a Live record, so if your looking for studio works look into something else. But if you wanna get the feeling of a real great Adicts live show, get your hands on this. Has all there classics, and they dont mess up like a lot of live bands do. Grab your umbrella and your bowler, the Adicts rock!

  1. I've avoided buying Pistols live recordings (save for Filthy Lucre) simply because I worried the quality would be suspect. But this ain't bad at all. It has the feel of a good quality bootleg, complete with between songs chatter and false starts. If you like thie Pistols, you'll like this; but don't play it for unbelievers.

  2. Before the Sex Pistols began a swift decent into back-stabbing oblivion that destroyed so many Stadium Rock bands of the 1970s, there was a group that pounded out some great music in the English clubs.

Live at the 76 Club is one of several concerts that found its was on bootleg vinyl in the late 1970s. It features original bass player Glenn Matlock - who later played bass and guitar for Iggy Pop - John Lydon, who is starting to formulate that "Rotten" image, and the drumming/guitar of Cook-n-Jones, respectively.

The set is not only starting the foundation for the band's only studio release, but also one that had only minor variations on stage. I have always felt the highlights are Lydon's frantic rendition of The Stooge's No Fun and the band powering through The Who's Substitute.

Though the sound quality isn't top notch, it captures the band on a night where the music means more than the style. One needs only to hear performances from the infamous United States tour to realize the group had deteriorated to nearly a parody of itself.

But on this night, you will hear the Pistols playing hard, playing loud and playing because they believed in their band.

  3. I recommend this for anyone who's ever wondered what the Pistols sounded like with their origonal bass player, who could, you know, play bass. It's June of '76, the club is tiny, the PA system gives out before the set's over, half the time you can barely make out what Johnny's singing, la da di da...
Buy it anyway. The power of the band with a competent bass player bottoming out the sound will change the way you listen to them. Sure, this is before "God Save the Queen," but the covers of "Substitute" and "No Fun" more than make up for it. Enjoy.

5 comments about 26/5/00 - Velodromo Anoeta, San Sebastian, Spain.

  1. Easily one of the worst shows of the tour. While the first disc starts strongly, with Release(which was only played a handful of times, and always as a show opener), Given to Fly and Evolution kicking things off nicely everything falls apart on the second disc. After Go, the band seems to diminish in energy despite the audience's enthusiasim. Stone and Mike's performances on Hail, Hail are sloppy, Ed still can't remember Immortality's lyrics(wasn't there enough money in the touring budget for a teleprompter or at the very least a lyric sheet?) Mr Vedder forgets the turnaround in alive and as a result ruins the song. Ed is so embarrassed by this error that he takes requests from the crowd, which results in an obviously underrehearsed version of Whipping. Last Kiss picks things up somewhat but Smile is plagued with glitches from the amplifiers or PA (I was not at the show so I'm just going by what I hear. An understandibly tired sounding version of Yellow Ledbetter concludes this erratic show. Pick this one up only if you want all seventy-two shows.

  2. If you're not a PJ fanatic, I can see how the lyrical flubs in Alive, Whipping, and Immortality could make this annoying. However, if you are, the absolutely perfect takes of Release, Given to Fly, Corduroy, Smile, and Yellow Ledbetter more than make up for it. Warts and all, this is up there with Seattle and Chicago as my favorite bootlegs to date.

  3. I'm biased as hell for writing this review because it was the first on only pearl jam concert i've ever seem. The CD set does justice about as much as a bootleg can. An incedible CD of an incredible concert. From the opening chords of "Release" to the closing harmony of "Yellow Ledbedder" this cd is phenominal. The sound quality is also noteworthy since the venue was so small (only about 9,000 max capacity) which really adds to the acuoustics and the overall quality of the recording. True, errors were made on the bands part, some of them downright embarrising, but thats what makes this CD set so endearing. And the story of PJ surfing that afternoon in the middle of a huge storm is priceless (especially since I remember that storm and how wet I got waiting outside before the show!)

  4. This is the third of Pearl Jam's 72 official bootlegs.

And it also happens to be one of the most frustrating. About half of the show is a mess, while the other half is really brilliant. Mistakes abound, but in between those mistakes are some wonderful performances.

To start off with what went wrong, ten of the songs on the bootleg contain flaws whether they be major or minor. Eddie Veddr flubs minor lyrics on "Do The Evolution," "Even Flow," "Last Kiss," "Yellow Ledbetter," and "Whipping." That isn't so bad, however. The major mistakes happen mostly toward the end, and it slows the pace of the show down terribly. Eddie messes up "Immortality," and the band has a tough time getting "Last Kiss" and "Smile" off the ground. "Light Years" is played in the wrong key, and "Daughter" is a mess for the first minute or so. Then there's "Alive." Pearl Jam messes up one of their best tunes so badly that it's actually funny to listen to. the mistakes are so numerous that Eddie jokes, "So much for being a professional rock band."

That's the bad stuff. The good stuff is also there, but the listener has to dig for it. The opener, "Release," is excellent. "Corduroy" features a fabulous guitar solo, "Of The Girl" is great, and "Even Flow," even with the minor flub, is the best it's been out of the first three shows. "Daughter" is very good once it gets off the ground; "Rearviewmirror," "Betterman," and "Hail, Hail" are the strongest they've been so far. "State Of Love And Trust" is good, and so is "Last Kiss" once the kinks are worked out.

Pearl Jam has played much better live. The unfortunate part about the San Sebastian concert is that the mistakes overshadow the bright spots by far.

  5. Disclaimer: Owner of all 72 official PJ bootlegs. This third gig in the bootleg series is a pretty difficult one to review, because it gives you two extremes. Most of the tracks are brilliant, and are among some of the finest performances of the tour. But then there are a few disasters that are just so bad they're good! After a rusty tour opener in Lisbon, and a more competent show in Barcelona, the band really hit their stride for this third show, but not without proving in a few songs that it's still early in the tour. The good numbers in this show include a majestic "Release" as the opener, and scorching takes on the rockers "Last Exit," "Hail Hail" and "Whipping." There are a few surprises like "Faithful" and "Smile," and even a pretty enjoyable blues jam that the band improvised to kill some time in the encore. Plus, you get the strongest "Even Flow" of the early part of the tour.

But this is a special show because of the errors, which are such disasters that they're really hysterical, and you just love the band even more because of them. Stone Gossard screws up the intro to "Light Years" by playing in the wrong key, Eddie Vedder forgets at least half of the lyrics to "Immortality," and "Last Kiss" gets off to such a disjointed start that they have to stop and start over again. By that point the band was really flustered, because of their catastrophic attempt at "Alive." First, Eddie forgets the first verse, then the entire song breaks down during the solo, with everybody except Jeff Ament having to stop playing and figure out a way to get going again. The fault is apparently Eddie's, as before the solo he sings the "yeahyeahyeah yeah yeah yeah" that really belongs after the final chorus, and half the band goes into the solo while the other half goes into the outro! What a disaster, but like I said, it's so bad it's good. Of course Eddie apologizes profusely for the rest of the show. One of the great things about this bootleg series is that Pearl Jam have left their mistakes in plain view, while any other "official" live album would have the glitches edited out. This is a real treat for the fans, and show the band's humanity. So San Sebastian is indeed a "very special" performance, 90% slamming, 10% horrendous, and all enjoyable.

  1. THis is a must have for any rock and roll fan. Cassual listerns will have to listen twice though to appriecate it. THe New york dolls are a lot harder on this album and a love it. This album shows how great the new york dolls and is a testament to the greatest rock and roll band ever it. It shows the beggining of punk metal new wave indy and everything in between. The reason why the new york dolls are genry less is because the started it all. New wave punk hair metal. Started a decade of big hair every thing a decade early. The thing this album does is lie to rest the rumors why the new york dolls never made it big the where to good to real for the early seventies. This album also makes every other band from that era sound like pussy's. Kiss Led Zepplin Black Sabbath does not compare to this. THis is the new York dolls the way they should have been presented to the world.

P.S. When listening to this album imagine it is 1973 and this comes on the radio.

  2. I wasn't expecting much, but this is good stuff. The mix is OK, and David's French is hilarious. Then again the introduction that proclaims Johnny Thunders is "back to zee fifteees" is worth the price of admission. The set is performed with elan, with such tunes as "Puss 'n Boots" and Personality Crisis" and "Stranded in the Jungle" !! belted out in the way we wanted the Dolls doing it on those live CDs we wasted money on. Between lighting cigarettes and moments of, shall we say, light stomachs, the Dolls miss cues and forget where they are and distill rock and roll to its essense, skidding along the edge of diddly/berry, stop to pose, and rock again. A great document.
