  1. While nowhere as good sounding as 1985's "Gotta Let This Hen Out", this unofficial (in that it was a BBC recording, and not released through the band's regular label at the time, A & M) live album recorded in 1992 is still worth owning.

It's a little on the short side, but the band's last two albums, 1991's "Perspex Island" and 1993's "Respect", are well represented, and we also get excellent renditions of "Egyptian Cream" from the band's 1985 debut "Fegmania", and the title track of 1988's "Globe Of Frogs". I however, could have done without the A Cappela "Uncorrected Personality Traits" from Hitchcock's solo album "I Often Dream Of Trains" and would have instead prefered something from one of the band's other albums. I would have also preferred to have a recording of the band at one of their regular shows, as this was an acoustic set.

As mentioned above, the sound isn't as clear and dynamic as on their official 1985 live album, but it sounds decent enough. If anything, it sounds more live because of this.

Note: The track listing on the sleeve is not in the correct order.

  1. A must have album for every FNM Fan out there, this album captures FNM at their peak. Live at the Brixton Academy finds the guys supporting "The Real Thing" album. Plus you get a treat, a WAR PIGS cover (originally from Black Sabbath) it is played so raw and aggressive that I use it while working out. A classic from Faith No More.

  2. But that doesn't make it any less good. The Real Thing is one of my favorite albums of all time, so these live tracks certainly are enjoyable. The dvd is even better, they put on a sick show, it also includes "As the Worm Turns" and "Underwater Love". What really got me on this cd was "The Cowboy Song". I was hungry for more Real Thing-era FNM and this song is definately in the same vein, it should have been on the Real Thing. It's catchy and epic at the same time. One of my favorite FNM songs. I spent $12 and it was all worth it for "The Cowboy Song", the live stuff just added.

  3. I can't even remember where I got this CD, or when exactly (early twenties kinda a blur),probally when I was hungry for anything FNM. There's plenty of energy here, M.P. let's it all out the bag. Anybody looking for live FNM (pre-Angel Dust)would'nt be disappointed. Some really sweet tracks. You would think the Brits would be critical of any Sabbath cover, but M.P. gets them in a sing along. Live version of "We Care A Lot"(Discovery Channels Dirty Jobs theme song) with a new kid spoof(does anybody remember them?) FNM always satisfied fans with on stage antics (like on SNL)and it comes through on this live release. But wait there's more, "The Cowboy Song" studio track has a guitar solo that'll blow your mind.

  4. Hearing Billy Gould talk about Live at Brixton it makes sound this was a heavily overdubbed, over produced "live album" typical of most of the live albums put out by arena rock bands like KISS where the live elements like audience noise are generally mixed in after wards.

Still does this mean this is a substandard CD? No. It's basically the Real Thing live with one song, "We Care a Lot" from the band's first and second records. This CD showcases the greatness of the Real Thing / Rock mode FNM very well and also gives at hint at the weirdness that was to come for the band. The ever bizarre Mike Patton dropping in bits of the New Kids on the Block "Right Stuff" and Teknotronic's "Pump up the Jam" is a perfect example of this. Of course anyone who was lucky enough to catch the band live would know that they regularly included covers from guys like Take That (Back for Good), the Bee Gees (I Started A Joke), Portishead (Glory Box) in the sets as well as renditions of standards like Green Sleeves and Spanish Eyes.

But for me the real gem on this disc is the bonus studio track "The Cowboy Song" which along with "The Perfect Crime" from the Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey CD are great missing tracks for the Real Thing era of FNM. It really showcases the talents of the band a great keyboard hook by Roddy, Billy's masterful bass thumping and the grinding geetars of Jim Martin (founder of the Faith No More spiritual and religious sect). It's another one of those tracks that really makes you wish Faith No More would release a real B-Sides collection of these tracks and stuff like Das Schutzenfest or the Patton version of As the Worm Turns.

In short if you like the Real Thing or a Faith No More completist, you really should make an effort to find this album.

  5. Altough it never was released in the US, I am very glad that the record company decided to capitalize on FNM's success at the time and put out this live record. There is never a dull moment with this band, and their live show is no different. Each song gets the "Patton touch", and although difficult to digest at first, you will find yourself liking these versions of songs off 'The Real Thing' just as much as the originals, and liking the fact that this isn't just the 1989 release with a bit of crowd noise. The songs are completely different, with Patton also giving his version of the FNM staple, 'We Care A Lot'. And if the 8 songs weren't enough for anyone drooling for an FNM live show, we are treated to two rarities, 'The Grade' and 'The Cowboy Song', the latter being one of the best songs the band wrote in that era. Definitely worth the import price, this live show rocks.

  1. This album is a steal. Buy it and Enjoy the sounds of the evil boy

  2. This is an album that deserved a better fate than it received. If you know Stiv from the Dead Boy's or Lords of the New Church this is nothing like those two groups. It is essentially a power pop album. Ive heard Stiv grew up listening to 60's AM pop radio and it showes on this effort. Some of my favorite songs include Evil Boy, I Wanna Forget You..., A Million Miles Away, and the excellent cover of Too Much Too Dream. If you like Punk Rock and still enjoy some pop music then try this out. It's very different from either musical format, but that's what makes it such a gem!

  1. This cd is simply amazing. The songs on this disc have so much more energy than their "warning" studio album. the songs here are filled with so much emotion form billie joe's lyrics that you can tell what he sings he really means. the crowd in this cd just adds to the amazing and unique sound green day gives in this disc. the music is all about inspirationothing less and that harmonica part in "minority" is simply brilliant, not to mention it would be quite hard not to sing along to all the songs in this album. a must for any green day fan and well worth the price.

  2. This is a great CD!!! The songs are great picks to make into a live CD. The crowd is also screaming and chanting throughout the entire CD, which gives it more energy. Church On Sunday is awsome live, a must hear for any fan. Castawy is one of the best on the CD, evnen though he stops in the middle to get the crowd chanting. Blood, Sex, and Booze is very good. King For a Day is funny and it has an awsome beat to it. Waiting is also one of the greatest "new" Green Day song, and I was happy to see they put in on a live CD because it sounds s lot better live. Minoriy is also good, but they stop in the middle to get the crowd chanting. Macy's Day Parade is THE best song on this entire CD. It has a different soound to it, but a better one, and it's an aswsome CD finisher. I highly recomend this D to anyone, even if you're not sure if you like Green Day. Also, another great CD to buy is Foot in Mouth, by Green Day. It has their earlier songs on it, and both of these CDs are Live, which makes it 100 times better.

  3. It's Green Day in Japan, playing some of their more recent hits. Of course it's great. It's Green Day.

  4. Anyone who loves green day will love this 7 track live cd! It has a super-charged audience that you can hear chanting with green day. The live songs on this CD are just incredible. This is a must have to every single green day fan out there!

  1. The version of Hallelujah on this little-known CD is one of the most amazing live performances I have ever heard. Complete, utter magic.

  2. When I bought the Grace ep's from which this album is one of 5 I first played this album and still it's my favourite. The interaction with his audience, the way Jeff puts his soul into his music, it gets to you. A true Jeff buckley fan can't let this one slip!

  3. 50 Australian dollars you're a Cat Stevens fan. The true worth of a critique is displayed in his or her talent to outshined the criticised. Enjoy the lack of light John Harris.

  4. Buy it. otherwise you will regret it. A must for any Jeff Buckley fan. As usual, he excels on guitar and vocals, improvising many parts of the solo songs. He takes you on a journey with Van Morrisons "The Way Young Lovers Do" that will stick with you and playing the cd over and over again. If anything can make you appreciate His music more, it is this album.

  5. This album was the first jeff buckley live album that I ever listened to, and it was love at first listen. I haven't taken this cd out of my cd player in about the 4 months since I got it. I loved all the versions of the songs he did, especially these parts: the ending of dream brother, the improvisation in the way young lovers do, the mixing of je n'en connais pas le fin and hymne a l'amour, and the extra part at the end of hallelujah. I basically love this album, and if you like jeff buckley, this is a must have.

  1. Long before Korn, or Limp Bizkit, or any other band claiming that they were responsible for "rap-rock", there was Biohazard. The best band you've never heard, they are every bit as tough as they sound; hailing from the Bronx and delivering a punishing metal rhythm fused with some rhymes that made the band unique in their day. "No Holds Barred" finds the band in Europe of all places, clocking in with 24 tracks of pure adrenaline pumping, headbanging music that's better than just about anything else the genre has pumped out today. Classic tracks like "What Makes Us Tick", "Urban Discipline", "Business", "Better Days", "Black and White and Red All Over", "Tears of Blood", "Chamber Spins Three", "Wrong Side of the Tracks", and "Punishment" are brought to life live, and the recording quality is surprisingly tight. Although I would have loved to have seen "Loss" included on this set, I can't complain with how just plain awesome this collection is. A must have for any and every Biohazard fan.

  2. One of the best live CD's ever. Over 20 tracks of quality Biohazard music. A definite for any true metal fan!

  3. This is a great cd, the sound is very raw and how they would sound as if you were listening to them right there! Check out "Love Denied" and "What Makes us Tick"! 24 tracks you cant go wrong!

  4. This CD rules! If you are intrested in looking into Bio buy this, it has all the best songs! ALthough id still buy the others especially urban Discipline it is a RAW cd quality is superb and music is kickin, Biohazard is NOT like Pantera or Sepulura or Korn or any of them they have a unique style, and it kicks props to Billy for the cool lyrics that actually have a meaning behind them and a good message! Thats right kiddies this cd wont incite you to praise judas or kill yourself the lyrics have a good message to them and treat real life subjects, so dont buy this cd if you want to praise satan or if you feel real life issues will make you insane
    Kaoslord

  5. if your into to biohazard and love all there songs like me then this is the cd to buy!!!!! has everything from the old to the new!!! the whole recording is good quality and the music is heavy !!

  1. Gimme a break.
Everything a performer does is for the money. If John said he was ONLY doing his thing for the fans, he'd he lying. But apparently, people like Drainpipe like being lied to. No performer sings for the sole purpose of trying to win back former fans that won't give him the time of day for experimenting in the studio and playing a few sax solos in his songs.

If anything by PIL was unlistenable, it was their Second Edition album. What sparse crap that was! With that said, everything else afterwards by PIL, including Live in Tokyo, is excellent. And yes, it features several songs off Second Edition, but these renditions are more than unlistenable with the pseudo-disco treatment they've been given here. I'd love to see Drainpipe's reaction to John Lydon's solo material! It's dancier than Duran Duran. And it's GOOD. And (gasp!) FUN! John freely admits he loves doing music that is more accessible, and I'm glad that he (of all people) freely admits that.

And to anyone who doesn't like it: Quit living in the past, and sod off!

  2. With Keith Levene and bassist Pete Jones flying the coop, John Lydon and Martin Atkins hastily assembled the infamous "cabaret band" from New Jersey and this faux-PiL toured Japan. Testimony of which is this much-maligned release, the world's first digitally-recorded live album which Lydon freely admits was nothing more than a cash incentive. So how does this less-than-laudable endeavour hold up? "Live In Tokyo" is all very smooth and glitzy; the perfunctory band goes through the motions with little of the edge that characterised the original PiL. But that doesn't mean that this set is unlistenable. Unsurprisingly, the pop-oriented material from the upcoming "This Is What You Want...This Is What You Get" album comes off best ("Solitaire," "This Is Not A Love Song," a very nifty "Bad Life" - all of which follow the original "Commercial Zone" treatments rather than the "This Is What You Want" remakes). The segue between "Low Life" and "Solitaire" is neat, "Religion" is boosted by an ironic Church-organ intro, and even "Flowers Of Romance" doesn't sound half bad. Unfortunately, the album doesn't include PiL's calling card number, "Public Image," which was retained on the official video of the gig. It's always going to be seen as the least essential PiL release ever, but "Live In Tokyo" is not boring - and small praise as that may be, given the circumstances of this album's existence, that's about as much as one could hope for.

  3. Well since I own a copy in VHS of the album, 2 CD's (Japanese & European version of the album) I can assure that this album is great.

  4. Is the most powerful sound of PIL. Includes the best version of "This is not a love song" than I hear
