- This collection (1 of a 2 volume set) transports the listener to the club where it was performed and recorded - over and over again. It is not as polished as a studio recording, but that is the beauty. The music instantly hooks your ear and your attention and stays with you til the end. If you like Shawn Mullins then you should own this already. This also introduces you to an amazing talent in Matthew Kahler, whose wit is seen in Matthew's Improv and whose soul is revealed in "I don't wan't to lose you". The pairing of 2 of of Atlanta's great talents is awesome - they interact and compliment each other well. This truly is a cd worth keeping in your changer at all times.

- This item is great for a Bouncing Souls fan and/or someone who already owns several bouncing souls LP's. This is basically an addition to a collection yet not a CD to purchase if you've never heard the Souls or have only heard them once (since it doesn't truly capture all of their talent).
True fans of their music will appreciate the rawness of this album anyway. The vocals are amazing, although sometimes obscured by members of the audience singing-- but that is what makes a live album great, it is raw...it is unfinished...but it fits. There are great things about this album, the energy is one of them-the audience singing along is great too, and it captures the camaraderie between the fans and the band.
If you are looking to buy a Soul's cd that is studio recorded, well this isn't it. A true fan will be able to sing along to the words anyway and enjoy every last bit of it, but if you are new to the Bouncing Souls music I would suggest buying a different Soul's CD first. You might be disappointed with the quality of the sound. Still, you should consider buying this album later on down the road after you can appreciate their talent... If you are a "True Believer" in the Bouncing Souls, then you should be very pleased with this live compilation. I own all the others and bought this to round out the collection. Sure none of the songs are "new", but who cares, they are great songs! I could listen to them time and again as I am sure most of you could also. If you weren't a fan of their music I don't see why you would take time to search them out on Amazon.
- This is my first Bouncing Souls cd, and by far one of the best in my collection. They keep the flow running from start to finish. I must personally say that that Kate is Great is the best song, but I'll leave that to you to decide. Overall it is a great cd an I suggest you buy it.
- The Bouncing Souls are truly one of the best pure punk bands out there. Tie One On is a great live sample of what the bouncing souls are like, so I suggest you buy it even if you haven't heard anything by them before. All nine tracks are filled with energy and many great chords. A must buy.
- lets just say that it "hit the spot". gotta love the souls. the acoustics arent the best, but its live. what can u expect? greg is as clear as day tho. i would recommend to anyone...
- first off i would like to say the the bouncing souls are one of the best punk bands around today.go out and get their 4 studio albums..right now!!!!and go see 'em live when they come to your town(their on warped this summer)if you can't wait for them to come to your town then go out and pick up their live ep tie one on.it's cheap,it's live and it's the bouncing souls.yeah this isn't much of a live album and it definetly doesn't capture the full live warfare that is the bouncing souls.it could have mixed the songs up more and not have almost all the tunes be from their self titled album.there also is one new track on the album called kid and it's a really good tune(it can also be found on their new album hopeless romantic-it's their best album and out now)so go out and pick up tie one on or go out and see 'em live(their both about the same price)and if you can meet 'em,their really great guys...but watch your yoo-hoo,they'll eat it!!!!

- I can't believe that I went to NC State (next door to The Brewery where this performance went down) and yet, somehow, I missed every single one of The Backsliders performances. I just wasn't doing the mudflap boogie back then. But I can tell you that this live offering from The Brewery is some of the best foot-stompin' swing-yer-gal-around music that's ever been laid down in the City of Raleigh. From the Bakersfield shuffle of Pain of Love to the midnite wail of a half-hour-long Hey Sheriff, it must have been a hell of a show. I'm glad I got my copy; hurry up & git yours.
- I picked this up at one of their shows after being blown away, and I must say that I prefer this disc to their debut studio offering. This lineup was scary good -indeed, I found myself in the unenviable position of having to follow them myself on a few occasions - with 2 bad-a** guitar players and a pumping rhythm section backing up Chip's confident, swaggering vocals. This disc comes close to capturing the machine that they were live, and brings back great memories every time I hear it. If you are lucky enough to find a copy of this disc, BUY IT. You won't be disappointed.
- The Backsliders are best seen live. Since that has gotten a little difficult, you need this album. Hey Sheriff live is not to be missed but second best is this disk with a live version.

- Henry Rollin's the poetry shouting, story telling, heavy metal grinding, music and movie star is best known on two fronts, his music albums and his spoken word albums. While you may have heard that his spoken word albums are comedy CDs, that is a little exagerated (at least the earliar ones anyway). Henry's stories bring some thought to ponder of his rather hard life experiences, gigs on the road and eventually his own thoughts on everyday events, and most of them are given a humorous spin to make the experience more enjoyable and funny. LIVE AT MCCABES is one of these CD's.
The first track is Hank's story about making trips across the world to various jobs and music events and the people he sees such as vagrents in the subways and stewardess's on planes. the second track called Misunderstanding is a little strange. A story about two cops shooting a young man in his apt over a misunderstnading is glossed over to get to a story about his own misunderstanding in punching out a rude fan in Yugoslavia. Henry is a guy who in several of his spoken word albums talks of his HATE of the police, and here a perfect example for him to is skipped over. Hank is probably upset about what he did to a fan and ignored it. It's a little out of character for him. I was expecting one of his outbursts about the cops, and we didn't get it. Oh well, no big deal. I Wish Someone Had Told Me is the third track and it is one of Hank's most powerful tracks and harkens back to the earliest CD's of pure storytelling and life lesson learning. Hank tells us that while in a boys school he finally finds interaction with girls and most of his encounters end in failure due to his ignorance of women. When his crazy mother throws him out of the house, he is left with no money and no where to go to get information to help himslef, he needs to scrape buy and his problems get worse. It is a great track, but it seems to end abruptly. The final track is Travel Tips. Hank as a young boy goes on a trip with his aforementioned crazy mom to Greece and is the near victim of a molester. Not Hank's most engaging track I must say, but worth listening to once. Henry Rollins has better spoken word albums such as SWEATBOX and BOXED LIFE. Both are twice as long and have more stories, which are also just as funny and at times a little more insightful (never mind the poor sound qualities at times). LIVE AT MCCABES is good but there are enough little nuonces to give it a star short of greatness. LIVE AT MCCABES though is a decent place to start if your interested in hearing some of Rollin's story telling.
- "I AM PUNK ROCK", "YOU ARE MY FAVORITE SINGER", "I PLAY YOUR DISCS AT BAND PRACTICES". THIS STUFF IS CLASSIC. THIS GUY HAS HAD MORE ADVENTURES IN ONE NIGHT THAN I HAD IN TEN YEARS. SOME OF THEM ARE DARK, BUT HE IS LIVING A FULL LIFE AND OBVIOUSLY IS THINKING IT OVER, WORKING IT OUT, AND TAKING NO PRISONERS. COMMENTS WELCOME AT nick82e@hotmail.com
- This record contains some of the most intense stories I have heard Rollins tell. Stories about the difficulty of dealing with sex when you're young, the vaccuum that forms for some people who find themselves with no one they can talk to on a personal level.
There is some humor on this record, most notably "Misunderstanding", which describes one of Rollins' many culture-clash experiences. "Travel Tips" is another tough one; although told with humor, it makes you feel bad for the young Henry, a kid with boundless energy and no one in his family willing to help him work it out or deal with him like he was a human being. Henry came out of it OK, and we his listeners are the winners; every record he releases shares a little bit more of experience and life with us. Keep it up.
- Don't be fooled by the limited number of tracks on this disc. Rollins rants on for 76 minutes about Love, Hate, Depression, and the lovely young Fran who got away. My favorite is I wish Someone Would have Told Me. We get to see the early Rollins growing up feeling so different from all of his peers, and finding out the mystery about woman. Love him, hate him, He will always be Rollins, and I think that this is one of his best discs. Misunderstanding starts off way dark, but finishes up with a great rant about a punker fan who has an odd way of expressing his love for his favorite singer!! Enjoy it LOUD!!!

- As has been said this is a collection of their more accessible period. There's some stuff here that I don't have which made this a necessary purchase.
These sessions sound lighter than what they would be like on the albums which is thoroughly enjoyable. It still sounds as beautiful as ever.
Doom Zoom is an added on track since it is a rarity and it's pretty damn good. Sounds like an electro ( industrial? ) hip hop track minus the rapping. But the whole album is really worth it even if you have all the originals in their album versions.
- A collection of Cabaret Voltaire's 'live' recordings at the BBC from 1984-1986.
It includes tracks from the albums; 'The Crackdown', 'Micro-Phonies', 'The covenant, the sword and the arm of the lord', and 'Code'. All are similar enough for fans to recognise but different enough to purchase this CD. 'The Operative' sounds much rawer and the version of 'I want you' recorded live, is much better than the album version, in my opinion. Other highlights include 'Kino', which is misprinted as KIND on the sleeve, and 'We've got heart'.
- This collection of recordings are a snapshot of Cabaret Voltaire during the slightly more accessible period of the mid eighties (84-86). Having signed a recording contract with Some Bizzare/Virgin Records, after the more experimental years with Rough Trade, saw the material become more vocal based and dance oriented. The recordings are unique in so much as they were made in the BBCs studios with in-house producers and engineers, rather than the usual self-produced material out of Western Works studios. Almost Cabaret Voltaire unplugged, with a minimum of overdubs or studio trickery. Augmented by Mark Tattersal on drums and percussion. Those who enjoyed the digital funk of "Microphonies" and the dub electronics of "Code" will not be disappointed.
"BBC Recording 84-86", "Radiation Pilot 39" and "Sex, Money, Freaks" all refer to the same release.
- I was looking for the stuff I used to listen to back in the "bat cave".

- I'll first add the disclaimer that this was the first Pearl Jam bootleg I ever owned, so it has a special place in my heart. Onto the review.
As previously mentioned, this was Pearl Jam's 10th anniversary show, and it is indeed memorable. Highlights include a great opening of Pink Floyd's 'Interstellar Overdrive' into the always welcome 'Corduroy' and a really nice use of 'Untitled' into 'MFC'. For me, one of my favorite things on the whole album is the way 'Lukin' leads into 'RVM'. While it's not used as an actualy segue, like with 'Not For You', but instead, right at the end of the song, Eddie hits the A-string as a test, and immediately goes into 'RVM', which sounds just awesome. 'Once' makes a cool appearance, but Eddie's speech after it is even better, with which he introduces the beautiful Mother Love Bone cover of 'Crown of Thorns'. Even if Stone did botch the intro by starting too soon, I think that it doesn't sound all that bad. 'Small Town' sounds wonderful, as does 'Last Kiss'. But I think that one of my other faves off of this bootleg is the Who's 'Baba O'Riley', which just sounds oh so much better because of the coherent sing back from the crowd.
Overall, I think that this is a beautiful bootleg, with some quite memorable speeches, mainly consisting of Eddie explaining the band's origins and thanking Jeff and Stone for trying so hard to get everyone together. The biggest drawback would definitely be the feedback on 'Insignificance' and 'Once', or Mike's Flying V cutting out at the beginning of 'Do the Evolution'. But regardless of the mistakes, this album is a definite must have for anyone, big fan or not. And if you're not, I'm sure this will convert you. 'Crown of Thorns' should be able to do this by itself, though it isn't really a PJ song!
- you've heard the rumor, right? if you haven't i'm hear to tell you that there's this rumor that this is the best p.j. live bootleg album in the neverending series, and i must say that the rumor is probably true. I'm not one to say for sure considering i don't own all of the live albums like our disclaimer friend, but still it is a very enjoyable show, with alot of rare stuff; which is a treat because i love the stuff that is a little less well known. Anyways i have about 20 of the live albums and this is truly one of the best one's. If you want to hear an overview of p.j. live and at their best then i insist on this one
- Disclaimer: Owner of all 72 official PJ bootlegs. This show in Las Vegas commemorates the tenth anniversary of Pearl Jam as a performing unit. So this show is definitely an emotional and sentimental evening for the band. Eddie Vedder is extra talkative this evening, reminiscing about the earlier days of the band's history, and making special note of Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard's seventeen years together. Setting aside the sentimentalism, however, I will have to give this show an A-minus overall (but still good enough for five Amazon stars). This is because when you get down to the music, this is not an especially great performance by the band, as compared to some of the more solid shows in the tour. The band commits several errors, especially timing glitches in "Last Exit" and "Nothing As It Seems." Mike McCready bungles some of the soloing in "Dissident" and Stone commits some blatant errors in "Mankind" and in the intro to "Crown of Thorns." This show does have some exceptional numbers however, like powerhouse versions of "MFC" and "Porch," plus a shimmering performance of "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter..." Of special interest are the inclusion of the old Elvis tune "Can't Help Falling in Love" (only played in Vegas and Memphis for obvious reasons), plus the above-mentioned "Crown of Thorns," a beautiful song played in tribute to Jeff and Stone's previous band Mother Love Bone and its late vocalist Andrew Wood.
- I never thought of myself as a real Pearl Jam Fan. Ten sits in my CD collection and gets taken out once or twice a year, blows my mind and gets put back. On a lark, though, I picked this one up the other day and it's all I've been able to listen to since. I plan to buy all these discs. What an amazing show! If I were told I could own only one Pearl Jam CD, this would be it. I love live albums and this is one of the best I have.
- I have followed this band from the beginning and my passion for PJ keeps growing every year. What other band would even think about releasing live recordings of two entire tours? Their appreciation for their fans is unmatched. Speaking of unmatched, the Las Vegas show blew me away and probably won't leave my cd player for another couple of months. The sound quality is amazing but hey...could pearl jam ever sound bad? The set list is outstanding especially the covers of Mother Love Bone's "Crown of Thorns", Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love"(my personal favorite 'cause the song with Eddie's voice is like spanish fly to the ladies), and The Who's "Baba O'Reilly". I highly recommend this cd for it's sentimental value since it is the 10th Anniversary of Pearl Jam show but you will not be disappointed with any of their live cds. In a world full of corporate boy bands and sound alike rock/rap bands; it is nice to know that there are five guys still making music for themselves and their fans and not the [...] TRL generation.

- This collection of live sessions from BBC Radio 1 is a fantastic retrospective of Stereolab's work from 1991-2001. They sound great throughout this two disc collection. Particular highlights for me include the extended jam on Metronomic Underground and, one of my favorite tracks from any group, Cybele's Reverie. If you are new to Stereolab, this is a great collection to give you a remedial course in their work throughout the 90's, while long time fans will surely enjoy these live recordings of old favorites. Clocking in with over two hours music, this is a good deal as well.
- It has taken me a long time to get round to really connecting with this double CD workproduct from the famed Franco-British synthetic pop-music agitprop alternorock band. Ever since catching them live about ten years ago, I've considered them one of my favorite bands. I mean the live sound was so good that although I had long outgrown my penchant for ingesting mind altering substances, I caught myself longing for something really good to better enjoy the sound with AND even though I left that concert thinking it was one of the dem finest concert experiences I'd ever had--and I've attended dozens and dozens, of 'em--I still to this day wish I'd been there on a different plane of consciousness. It was just an indescribably good time. Having said that, I subsequently acquired three or four of their efforts, King Tomato Ketchup, Dot and Loops, Space Age Bachelor Music and perhaps another but they all got a couple of plays and then gathered dust. I got this double CD more from wishful thinking than from any expectations of taking aural pleasure from it. My first couple of play throughs more or less confirmed my worst expectations: just another another semi-repetitious Stereolab album with a few good bits, I thought. Then, about a year later for no reason or any reason at all I gave it another chance, by chance and you know what? It came alive for me. I have to say that this comp. of synthetic mongopopular radio frequency stage happiness is really quite good, and complete and definitely worth a purchase. If you've never heard Stereolab listen to the sample tracks above, I'm sure that they will give one a good idea of what they sound like. The music is kind of dreamy kind of funky kind of hokey kind of thoughtful kind of happy and often kind of demmed good. It is refreshing to find a band that one likes which does not sound like a whole bunch of other bands. In fact, if I were to make a comparison of Stereolab to another band I would have to compare it to a band that I haven't heard yet. This album is definitely a long term keeper.
- If you're a Stereolab fan then this is an outstanding double disc of "live" John Peel session cuts featuring for the most part cuts from Switched On, Peng, Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Mars Audio Quintet. Probably the most interesting aspect of the cd is that it sounds more like an alternative studion cuts compilation than it does a live cd and in fact unless you know beforehand that the cuts are indeed live you'd really have no idea. Definitely worth picking up even if you own most of the original releases.
- This is now my favorite Stereolab album! Fans of Stereolab will love this! For folks new to Stereolab, this is a great place to start! This is high-energy pop with strong, steady, and hypnotic rhythms and nice harmonies. Certainly an "essential" Stereolab CD.

- The music from this CD was recorded during the same concert from which Rock 'N' Roll Animal was taken. Lesser known songs, but great musicianship. Fans should have this.
- Yes, it's from the same show that produced the peerless ROCK AND ROLL ANIMAL, but there's a reason it wasn't released as a double album along with that classic. R&RA is non-stop killer and this one just isn't. It isn't bad in itself; it's just that the bathos effect is, well, in effect. Heck, there isn't even a live shot on the cover so you don't get another gander at Lou's black fingernail polish. Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter are, of course quite awesome. But after all these years, I still wonder: is that Lester Bangs bellowing "LOU REED SUCKS!!!" after Sad Song?
- Warning this overpriced import IS released domestically as Lou Reed Extended Versions. This CD is the second half of the Rock N Roll Animal show but not as compelling. Just friendly advice from one Lou Reed fan who paid $40.00 for an import when I walked in the next day into a gas station to see Lou Reed - Extended Versions took it home and found out the hard way it is the same exact CD...same master too!! Buyer Beware hope you find this helpful.
- Get Rock n Roll animal 1st !
That is a god rocking album sent from heaven
When you know every lick, then get this.... its like the bonus CD
Don't get me wrong - its good, darn good - theres just an even better one out there.
- As noted many times before, this is the rest of the show that produced "Rock N Roll Animal". Lou is in good voice and the band is still presenting things with an intense arena style sound.
Here the emphasis is on his solo material with only one Velvet's song in the mix and the difference between the material is glaring. The solo work is much weaker than the Velvet covers, but the performance of it more than saves the day. Recommended to lovers of "R-N-R Animal" for the rest of the story.

- Parker's rage and equal riposte, tenderness are in full flight during this Independence Day concert at Grant Park, Chicago, 1988. He has a great Blues voice that would have been the envy of all the previous generation of British Blues Boys that launched the Blues in the early 60s; Animals, Manfred Mann, Pretty Things, the Stones. Parker remarks between songs aren't anything more than a chance to draw breath, certain that it's the songs that will do the drawing of the crowd. Wisely, he selects some of the great songs from his halcyon 70s period and then ignites the set with choices from, Mona Lisa'. I loved hearing,'Sinkin' Low', an unexpected surprise.'Local Girls','Passion','White Honey' and 'Get Started'; all are given with the passion he frequently alludes to. Yes, he did hit the seen with Costello. He got rave reviews too. But he never received the glamorous credits of his UK compatriot. If some of his great 70s works weren't produced with the quality they deserved, we do have in this concert, an appropriate clarity of delivery supported by Brinsley Schwartz on guitar, Andrew Bodnar on bass, Andy Maxwell on skins, and James Hallewell on keyboards. Parker never sounded better!
- Stumbled across this in the CD bins while on vacation in New Orleans, and had to add it to my shelf-toppling G.P. collection. It's worth the price of admission and the effort spent in reshuffling your discs to fit this one into your stash. 'Nuff said!
- Those who like Graham Parker's solo live albums "Live! Alone in America" and "Discovering Japan" but miss the punch of a full-band live album should check out "Blue Highway". This decent-sounding disc from an Independence Day, 1988, appearance at Grant Park in Chicago delves back into Parker's bag of tricks and wisely avoids his early '80s mediocre period. Parker lights a fire under five tracks from his then-new album "The Mona Lisa's Sister" (excellent, that), lending nice punch to "OK Hieronymus" and "Get Started. Start a Fire." No, the sound, though fine, is not revelatory, and few tracks actually surpass the originals, but at least we get some variety and not the slavish note-for-note recreation of the "Live Sparks" bonus concert. "Durban Poison", from the live solo "Alone in America" gets the full-band treatment here, and there's the previously unreleased song "Sinkin' Low." The liner notes are poorly written (at least the first set) and absolutely rife with typos. The publishing company is even misspelled on the back cover. The somewhat rowdy audience at this festival (not sure about festival details) is mixed too loud between songs, and the introduction at this July 4 event is a little embarrassing. Noting that Parker is the lone Englishman on the bill, the announcer says: "After all, it's their country we have to thank for our independence!" Er... Anyway, so while this Alchemy release has a slapped-together feel to it, the music is a good keepsake of Graham Parker's power in a full band setting during a point of rejuvenation in his career.

- I love this cd. the Sex Pistols sound great and as a "full" band=with having the original bass player back in the band=Glen Matlock. This is the reunion tour cd (which I so wish I got to see/I missed out on seeing the pistols in the 70's and 90's and I LOVE THIS BAND!!) Some of the songs were done with some different arrangements and has Stepping Stone and Satelitte=songs that are Pistol Staples but were not on the NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS album. It's a fun punk cd=wish their was a home video that was released of this concert. 5 stars. (Other live cds I suggest: KISS ALIVE BOX SET 1975-2000, Alice Cooper=A Fistful of Alice and MINISTRY: IN CASE YOU DIDN'T FEEL LIKE SHOWING UP).
- I heard that the Pistols' performance was less than stellar on their 2003 tour, but in 1996 they were tight as a drum. They hadn't played together since January 1978 and I remember how excited we all were to know that the Last Rock and Roll Band was back on the road. Even if their live show wasn't the greatest, we reasoned, it would be a thrill just to see the Sex Pistols together again!
Well, to cut to the chase, we were all pleasantly surprised to hear how good they sounded--how lean and aggressive. No Malcolm McLaren hype or Sid Vicious junky nonsense to contend with; just the four original members of the group(John Lydon, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook) churning out classics like "Bodies", "New York", and (of course) "Anarchy in the UK" like it was 1977 again. I saw them in Memphis, Tennessee in August '96 and the setlist there was exactly the same as "Filthy Lucre"(recorded about a month earlier at London's Finsbury Park, where they encored with the Stooges' "No Fun", which was not included on the live disc, unfortunately)...so this album has a lot of nostalgic value for me. And, apart from that, the sound is just killer! All the Pistols are in fine form, and they play a couple of their obscure B-sides--"Did You No Wrong" and "Satellite"--in addition to every track from "Never Mind the Bollocks". I remember how much fun the audience was having at the show, and the band seemed to feed off that; Lydon, in particular, seemed to be enjoying himself. Everybody sang along to "Anarchy in the UK" and it was, in an odd way, an almost spiritual moment!
Ten years later, "Filthy Lucre" still brings a smile to my face. Thanks, guys, for giving those of us who were too young to catch your show the first time around another chance to see you perform live.
- Who would've thought that the Pistols would get back together for the money? There's a certain amusing irony in there. Or is it the fact that it was done because our convictions told us that they'd never do it? Well, regardless, it happened and this is the result of that.
In terms of live albums, this one exhudes ambiance. John Lydon, I mean, Rotten (it's not PiL anymore) does a good job getting through to the audience in his own particular way. The band itself, despite playing the same chords as always, sound tighter than you'd expect. The fact that the distortion exeeds that you might be expecting also shows how these aging punks won't go down without a noisy fight.
The tracklist itself is pretty solid. It takes the basic "Never Mind the Bollocks" template and appends some tracks from that era and that Monkees cover that ever punk band does. All in all, it's good.
Given the official output from this seminal outfit, this is a welcome addition to their slim line of 'official' stuff. Fans will dig it, and it will compliment the collection of anyone who isn't too keen on bootlegs.
