- I have just recently gotten into the Toy Dolls; I was lent a couple of their cds and I can't believe I've never heard them before! Olga is an incredible guitar player/songwriter. If you're into the Ramones or The Dickies, then check these guys out. This live cd isn't a bad place to start, also check out "Our Last Album?" or "Absurd Ditties". I could go on about these guys forever - check em out - punk rock done fast and catchy with a sense of humor, like it should be.

- Performance art at its most decadent, the 2-CD set chronicles the destruction of The Stooges and the fall of Iggy (Pop) Stooge from personal demons.
Bolstered with additional material, this infamous live "bootleg" from more than 30 years ago was initially only available as an import album.
The two concerts chronicled - October 1973 and the band's final gig in February 1974 - is a sonic implosion due to any number of issues. The end is near, as a crazed Iggy implores the raucous crowd to throw more ice, eggs, beer bottles and jelly beans. The band limps along with muzak, sounding the closing chords for a wild ride that had gone so wrong.
This is all too real....and dangerous when breaking glass is the soundscape.
- The band is killing it and Iggy's between song banter is hilarious. This kinda stuff just doesn't happen at shows anymore.
Unless, of course, it's a Mighty High show. Check out Mighty High...In Drug City.
- It's fun to hear the Spinal Tap moments where he baits the crowd (once), but this was a so-so night for Iggy and Co. After slogging through a half a dozen similar CD's, it's clear that these guys got a lot of help in the studio.People who like the legendary rep of this disc would do better to just buy the tee shirt.
- This is basically a legitimized bootleg album so the sound quality isn't the best. It is however, a landmark in Rock 'n' Roll/Punk history. The Ig did in fact issue a public challenge to a local M/C club, but it was the Scorpions and not the Angels. Turns out that one of the Scorpions jumped on stage at the Rock 'n' Roll Farm the week before and punched Iggy in the face, but enough of that. This is history, if you're a collector and a punk, get this 'cause you'll dig it. Cut it a little slack and remember the times (and the old Michigan Palace...what a great place to see a show that was). This isn't a listen to all the time type of recording, it's a historical document that needs to be appreciated for what it is. If you are the type that can't do this, this one's not for you. If you're from Detroit and you don't have it...I think it may be a felony. All others check local laws before ordering.
- I have only been listening to the Stooges for maybe 4 or 5 months. I first purchased Raw Power and then The Stooges and Funhouse. This band is great and I was looking for more to listen to so I turned to this. When I first heard this yesterday, I was blown away. Though the mix is God awful, the energy and power that made the studio albums so great is definatly present in this. If you LOVE the Stooges and Iggy Pop and you are looking for more, I recommend this, but only if you REALLY want more. If your not that into the Stooges than this is NOT for you. O and if you only like The Stooges and Funhouse and don't like Raw Power (because the music is a little different), then you probably won't like this.
And Iggy's comments are funny.

- This really is a superb collection of live recordings from Boston's legendary Real Kids. If this is the first Real Kids CD you buy, then I can assure you that you will want more! Straight ahead, high energy, no B.S. rock and roll in the fine tradition of the Ramones, Iggy, Dolls and the MC5 (as the MC mentions in his intro) with the melodic quality of the Beatles and Kinks thrown in for good measure. After I bought the LP, I discovered that the CD had extra tracks. Doh! What to do but by the CD too! Yeah, this is good.
- Essential because there are loads of good original songs that I don't think are on any other Kids releases, including "Shake Outta Control," "All Night Boppin," "She Don't Take It," and the list goes on. The title track is a relatively obscure early Stones tune. The cream of the crop is tracks 19-24, which are from 1976 (the same year Boston debuted and Aerosmith was at its peak, but the Real Kids are sure up to the "competition"), before they had an album out, and the early Damned-like speed and energy are pretty contagious. They even have the Ted Nugent rhythm guitar sound blaring in "All Kinds of Girls"! Sound quality is fine except for two tracks from CBGB, but that's OK. Finally, I like the way the Kids jump into a song IMMEDIATELY after being introduced by an MC. Way cool timing!
- This CD provides an excellent overview of the Real Kids live performances in the '70s. They are captured live in a college radio station, at CBGBs, at Boston's Rathskeller, etc. Raw, passionate and full of the kind of driving, primitive garage rock that most others bands can only dream of producing. Other than their classic first album, THIS is the Real Kids CD to own.

- This album is remarkable for really capturing a lot of what makes Dead Moon the best live show ever. Toodie's remarks about the WC, the band thanking the opening band - these are so indicative of Dead Moon. Song selection is excellent, the set list captures most everything from a standard Dead Moon Show. The mix works too, a bit scratchy at times, but its all there. The enhanced CD is fun, but I really want a full length concert-documentary on this band. Truly an inspiring group, and worthy of five stars. ...
- I just saw this band last night, and their energy on stage is amazing. Hard Wired is a great collection of their older songs, and definetely captures what makes them so good live.
- The Ramones meet AC/DC. A live record with the song covered by Pearl Jam. Not a great recording. The songs are good, would rather hear studio versions. If you are looking to buy cause of the Pearl Jam song.. don't waste your money. Otherwise they are a good band but the production is no good!
- Fred Cole has been around since he was the lead singer for the Lollipop Shoppe when he was 16 years old in 1966. Him and his wife Trudy formed the Rats in the mid 70's, some great well written punk music. I have a couple of the records. Then they did some country punk before it became popular. I have seen Fred and Trudy live a few times and they are great. Dead Moon has put out a bunch of stuff since the 70's, try to find the out of print stuff. have fun,EVL.. PS. The Rats and Dead Moon had a great impact in the NW with Punk and Country Punks.
- If it is called Hard Wired in Ljubljana, why was it recorded somewhere in the Netherlands? Ljubljana is in Slovenia--a country on the other side of Europe...

- I have no idea why I bought this when it came out in 1984 or 85. Reflex, I guess. It is recorded well, but is a completely unnecessary record. There are better versions of all these songs, except maybe "Pipleline". Nothing new.
Not worth it.
- When I first heard this album back in 77 as an impressionable 15 year old ABBA fan, I ripped up my clothes, tore down my glam posters and stuck a safety pin through my nose.
Johnny Moped featured on this outstanding album. Johnny Thunders of Heartbreakers did not make the cut!
- This is indeed one of the WORST live Heartbreakers performances documented. This album is basically the full live soundtrack to the 1984 reunion concert movie, "Dead or Alive." While it sucks just as equally in the movie, at least you get a visual idea of a Heartbreakers show with the film (Not a good one, but an exciting "reunion" one nonetheless). If you want these songs, I would recommend the double disc "Street Trash," because at least with that, you get a disc of early Dolls demos to help cleanse the pallette.
Please don't see my criticism as too negative: As a Johnny Thunders/Dolls fan with over 40 solo Johnny bootlegs, I'm just trying to help save you some money. I have this only to fulfill my sick completist thing.
For your money, for quality live Heartbreakers, I suggest "Live at Max's '79" (the full band with Jerry Nolan does the last four or five tracks of the album, including my favorite version of "So Alone." As well, "DTK - Live at the Speakeasy" has some classic live JT and boys.
Also: Food for Thought: A lot of discs are packaged as the special Reunion shows and all that kind of garbage. The band was predominantly junkies, and had these "reunion" shows about as common as rent parties. Cool nonetheless, but don't be dooped. "Heartbreakers" live shows pretty much after 1984 need to be taken with a grain of salt.
L.A.M.F.
- With the vast number of Johnny Thunders post-mortem releases, it's hard to know which are any good. Having picked up my fair share of them already, I can honestly say that "Live At The Lyceum" is one of the best 'live' Heartbreakers albums on the market.
One thing that doesn't go wrong (but which could have) is the handling of Johnny's solo material, which sounds just as good as any of the studio releases. The recording mix sounds a bit unbalanced, but it's a lot cleaner than most, and the song selection is above par. It might have been '84, but the album sounds as raunchy as it might have been back in '77. Although it takes a few numbers to get into their groove, the reunited band kicks it into high gear throughout the set and never looks back. Particularly the closer "So Alone" which includes a very weird recitation and blazing guitar solo by Johnny. My CD cover art is a different photo than this one, but it's all about the music anyway. Definitely worth buying.
