- Disclaimer: Owner of all 72 official PJ bootlegs. Towards the end of the second leg of the massive 2000 world tour, Pearl Jam really got on a roll, delivering four incredible shows in a row. This includes two nights in Philly, followed by Washington, DC and a riotous show in Pittsburgh before taking a few weeks off. My personal favorite in the entire bootleg series is the show prior to this one, the first night in Philly. For tonight's follow-up performance, the band is almost as good, putting on another solid and energetic show. This one has a less creative set list than the previous night, with no real surprises, except some relative tour rarities in "Faithful," "Gods' Dice" and "Rival," all of which are especially impressive tonight. "State of Love and Trust" makes an unusually early appearance (to good effect), while "Last Exit" and "Porch" really ignite the encore. The show ends with a flawless rendition of The Who's powerhouse "Baba O'Riley" which is sung almost word-for-word by the ravenous crowd. The funniest moment of this show is in "Soon Forget," which Eddie Vedder screws up pretty badly due to some very specific distractions in the audience. I'll leave it to you to figure out what the problem was.
- Yes, this show is so very under-rated. I was a fairly decent fan of Pearl Jam going into this show at the then"E-Center in Camden, NJ"now the Tweeter center. Thats why Eddie asked the crowd is this Philly or NJ during the show. The tour listed the two nights as Philly, but they were actually right over the river in NJ. Also the performance of SOON FORGET in philly is clasic!
- Pearl Jam's second night in Camden, NJ is not quite as good as the first show, but still is great. "Hail, Hail" is by far the best song from No Code and in concert the band takes the song to another level, The Merkenball song "I Got Id" appears in a superb version and they close the show out with a reverential version of The who's "Baba O'Reilly". On the first night they played "Breath" from the Singles soundtrack and in this show they replace it with their other contribution to the soundtrack, "State Of Love & Trust" which like the former song from the night before is the standout song from the set.
- i am correcting my own review where it reads:
he appears alone on stage after an encore i wrote: after an encore correction, it should read: after a break sorry...and thanx for putting up my review.
- Ok, you may have read that I narrowly gave the previous night the edge as the better of the two Philadelphia/Camden nights. But let me highlight why this show is also a must-buy bootleg: 1) A rockin' version of State of Love and Trust...enough said. 2) A hilarious and touching Vedder moment as he appears alone on stage after an encore to acoustically attempt Soon Forget. Sure, he messes up (twice!)...but that's what makes these live CDs so unique: they're so unpredictable! Buy this one along with the night before and enjoy two consecutive shows of varied setlists.

- I loved this; I sort of knew it would never be particularly popular, but for some reason that never seemed to matter. It's just one of those albums that I can put in and listen to any time. Fun, clever, catchy, occasionally perceptive - what more could you ask for?
"Little Joe and Hoss never did this on Bonanza!"
- Originally released in 1988, as this was the New York alternative punk band's first effort. Believe I saw them open for Nirvana many moons ago. During their time together, Alice Donut put out seven CD's and many EP's from 1986-96. Tracks here I got the most out of were the awesome "Green Pea Soup", "New Jersey Exit", the unexpected Donovan cover "Sunshine Superman", the snippet "Love is A Thickle Thing" and semi-humorous "Tipper Gore". Might possibly appeal to fans of the Butthole Surfers, Jesus Lizard, Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth.
- These guys were pretty ingenious in their day. This is one of their best offerings, but their albums are all unique and strange enough to be the best on any given Tuesday.
They have, by the way, reformed recently and are playing scattered dates at home and abroad. Their latest album, "Three Sisters" is the first of a 3-part installment of CDs purportedly mixed on a mac.
You really can't go wrong with this group, this album, or any album they've put out.
- I have had a vinyl copy of this album from when it first came out, played the living dead out of it.Ive been searching for it on CD for yrs now and finally found it.
These guys are the genius of progressive alternative rock!!
Great hooks, lyrics all telling stories of infamous tabloid identities
- Alice Donut was one of the core bands of Alternative Tentacles back in the late '80s and early '90s. Their first album catches them at their rawest, but also their most fun. "Donut Comes Alive" brings across the presence of a live Donut performance - pure, wild, New Jersey punk, maximum rock n' roll fun - without being an actual "live" album. The album is so full of great songs that pointing out any in particular to look at would be a waste of time - pick anything and you won't go wrong. It's 100% pure punk fun.
Musically, Donut's style has much in common with the psychedlic punk style of the Butthole Surfers, but I regard Donut as being the more straight-up fun-to-listen-to of the two. The Surfers are great, but in a different way. Alice Donut's work is better informed by a sense of humor and a lively attitude than the Surfers, who usually come off as being much darker and more serious. However, this does not mean that Alice Donut does not pack some weight - in keeping with many Alternative Tentacles bands, Alice Donut follows in the footsteps of the Dead Kennedies with thier lyrics - heavy sarcasm, but always socially and politically relevant. Buy this album, sit back, dig the lyrics and enjoy the wild, slapdash music!

5 comments about Songs of Faith and Devotion Live.
- Being a devout DM fan, I of course bought this album. My thinking was that 101 was outstanding, why shouldn't this be? I ordered it and waited for a long time. When it finally arrived at the door, I eagerly threw it into the stereo. I was greatly disappointed.
So, lesson for all you other collectors out there: if you have to buy this, leave it until last. It sounds more like a warped recording than a great live concert.
- I haven't listened to this album since I got out of grad school ten years ago, but now that my iPod needs filling, I burned it onto my hard drive. Funny - the album art called up in Windoz Media player was wrong. Exploring the Web, I found out for the first time that DM released these songs twice, and I just happened to have bought the live version. Since I didn't know any better, I just enjoyed the music, which has the raw power of a live performance. I'd forgotten the sound, but I won't forget again. I sympathize with those who felt ripped off by the two releases, but if you didn't buy the first one, you should get the second one. And turn up the volume.
- Despite what others may say, this album is in my opinion one of the best rock albums ever. The lyrics are good, but what makes them great is the way they are song, raw and full of passion. You feel the music...which sounds cliche but far from an overstatement in regards to this album.
I'm not so crazy about most of the electronic sound Depeche Mode is involved in, but the live version of this album reduces that sound and gives them a more raw and natural element to their music. Wickedness.
- Released within a year of the studio "Songs Of Faith And Devotion," this live cash-in presents the songs of that album, in the studio album's running order, and nothing else. Bearing in mind that "SoFaD" was not exactly Depeche Mode's shining achievment, either in the songwriting or album performance department, you may find yourself asking, "what's the point?" You'd also be justified in asking said question, and the answer is, NONE.
Given two stars becuase DM are a great live band, but "DM101" and "Devotional" will give you far more bang for your buck.
- Being an idle chap, I spend far too much time reading these reviews. A fav activity is to read some of the nonsense written about terrible albums. Why find out what someone thinks of Ok Computer, when I can find someone to praise steaming piles of doo-da like this?
First of all, it's not a bad collection of songs. The album itself is rather good. But the idea of doing a copy of the original CD, 6 MONTHS after it was released blows my mind. The only possible rational is that things were getting a little tight around Maison Mode and they needed some extra dough to help out with their, ahem, medical expenses.
Not that DM have ever been shy about cashing in. The 'In Your Room' single from this CD was one of the very first 3-Part CD singles. I remember seeing it in my local HMV in Brighton barely believing my eyes. Of course, now look on ebay and that same collection is now going for $20 (for each CD!).

- All recorded live at the 1999 Hootenanny Festival at Oak Canyon Ranch, CA. It is basically all hard rocking rock-a-billy bands such as Reverend Horton Heat, Derailers, Mike Ness, Royal Crown Revue, Deke Dickerson, Dave Alvin, Lee Rocker, Amazing Crowns, Paladins and others I never heard of. Pretty cool.

- Energetic live perfomance presenting their " Pretty Ugly " record -expect 8 songs out of the 19-track setlist to be from that album- which is a great thing since it's one of their best. Tracks 1-12 are great but the overall sound and mix are somewhat flawed; there's little treble and-heresy !- the only guitar left after their second axe quit the band is appalingly low in the mix . The drums sound ok, lotsa kickdrum little snares but the takes on the bass are incredible. This band's bassist can really play so they always mix her high in the mix on their studio records too ( I got most of them).
Versions of the songs on this cd are a fresh departure from the studio one, less polished, more chaotic but still manage to retain a high level of tightness; these chicks are a steamroller on acid ! On tracks 13-19 (there's one bonus track) the sound is totally f...d up . I'd recommend this live cd to die-hard fans of the band ONLY since it's very unsatisfactory from a sonic standpoint .
- "Oh by the way, ohh yeah! We're recording this show for a live album you guys! Is the tape changed yet?"
Those are Theo's words halfway through the album as she absentmindedly remembers that this will become the band's only live cd. This album was recorded during the Pretty Ugly tour, and 10 of the 19 songs are from that cd. ("Spork" is actually track 7, and the following songs are bumped one number up respectively). Also included is a live cover version of Iggy Pop's "Passenger," which can also be found on the Iggy tribute "We Will Fall." I really like this album a lot, mostly because a lot of the songs are off of Jerk Of All Trades, which happens to be my favorite cd by them. The recording was done extremely well for being in a high school, and only once did I think the sound was kind of "far away." Lunachicks played most songs faster than the original versions, but I've noticed that a lot of bands do that when they play live. This doesn't take away from the album at all however, if anything it adds new dimensions to songs that are familiar to die hard fans like myself. All in all I highly recommend this album to any Lunachicks fan.

- 'Lost In...' was recorded at various loctations of bars, taverns, watering holes, dives(whatever you wish to call them)during the band's 'Back To The Laundromat' tour in 2001.The U.S.Bombs tend to remind me of like maybe The Clash meets The Ramones.Another good punk release on the Disaster label.Club shatterin' cuts are "Tora!Tora!Tora!","Lunch In A Sack","Rubber Room","The World Goin' Out" and "Ballad Of Sid".I had NO idea this band had put out their first lp in 1979.They'd been around that long? The line-up on this disc:Duane Peters-vocals,Kerry Martinez&Nate Sponster-guitars,Wade Walston-bass and Chip Hanna-drums.Should appeal to fans of G.B.H.,Dead Boys,Buzzcocks and Sham 69.
- If you have never been to a bombs show, they may easily be the best live punk band out there. Duane Peters go crazy on the stage and that is reflected somewhat in this album. He will be jumping, sliding and skating all around the stage. If you dont have any other bombs cds get a different one, but if you want the live element get this now. Highlights: Tora Tora Tora, Orange Crunch, and The Contract are my favorites and done really well. Downsides: Not much, the sound quality is not something you would get from a studio, but thats a good thing. Long live punk.
