- Buy This! Groovy!I met Dez Cadena, and he was in a bad moOd,but if I woulda known earlier that he was the singer of D.C.3,I would've kissed him Passionately.Another Marky story for Steve: Marky brought up this band, and didn't believe I'd ever heard of them, he sang some of their stuff and I said Yeah! That's the band that made Annihilator Vol. 1 come alive.Best guitar riffs and trippy rock and enthusiastic joyous lYrics ever.

- Basically a compilation of three live albums: Ballroom Blitz - Live at the Lyceum (CD1), Live at Newcastle (CD2. 1-10), & School Bullies (CD2, 11-18). Punk music is all about the attitude and energy, and a live album is therefore the only real way to listen to these tracks. This album doesn't disappoint in that regard: CD 2 includes the concert staple "Sensible's a wanker" chant from the audience along with some other gems. Some sections aren't a continuous recording (the 10 track Live at Newcastle CD was trimmed from a longer version of the same album) but fades are used to make this not too noticeable. Great CD, you're getting 3 albums so you can't go wrong.

- This cd has some of the best lagwagon stuff ever made. They put 22 songs on the cd so you get a lot for your money compared to most cds. They put an acoustic version of "alien 8" and then their regular one after it which was ok but they talked way too much and said hey you want to hear us sing and the first thing that should come to mind is ya I didn't buy this cd to hear you run your mouth. Some of their best stuff on the cd include "violins" it also has a good intro when joe yells violins. "Messengers" is about the same quality as the older version, "never stops" is probably a little better than the old version, Sick is way better than the old version which also was great. "island of shame" is about equal to the old one, "Give it back" is a little worse but is still great. " after you my friend" and "may 16th" are worse cause they added some comments in the middle of the songs that ruined them. "razor burn" was also much better. Falling apart was another that was about the same. "Sleep" had a long boring intro before the song, They also put "beer goggles" on the cd which would have been unforgivable if they hadn't. "beer goggles" has to be lagwagons best and most interesting song. The only new song I liked was "the Chemist" Which they said was there least favorite new song. "Bombs away" "burn" "Coffee and Cigarettes" and "stokin' the neighbors" all were great too. "stokin' the neighbors" is a halarius song. A lot of people I know said the've done some midnight landscaping too except they usually do so sober. The other stuff wasent bad but some of it was seems like it was just put on the cd to give the band a break in between the better stuff. If you've never had a lagwagon cd and want a good sample of all their best stuff this is what you would want to listen to.
- Well i never--after thinking the Caper couldnt top the live experience created on the Gimme Gimmes awesome Barmitzvah bash, he gets hold of that microphone again and proves otherwise !.With the incomparable back catalogue at their disposal, Big Joe , Big Bitch and the boys just roll out the classics one after another (and still find time for a little drop of reggae inbetween AND a great singing cameo by Leon on "Coconut" as well). The Hollywood crowd are treated to timeless punk chestnuts such as Violins, After You My Friend, Razorburn, May 16th, Bombs Away and Stokin' The Neighbours--the list goes on. The Wagon play with such great energy, and the love every minute of it just as much as the crowd, and leading them throughout the extravaganza is the finest frontman in the rock n roll cosmos--Joey Cape. The man is a true colossus, a true demi-god (pocket sized version obviously !)--a man who can do everything (sing ,strum that guitar, bang the drums and in his spare time produce and promote bands AND run his own record label. He is quite simply the greatest (forget Elvis and other such impostors), the Caper is the man. I cannot wait for the next studio album from the Wagon (building further on Blaze, which was a belter and well worth the wait), and also cannot wait for the next tour of England (as i for one will be right at the front paying homage to the greatest band in the universe).
- I already own the previous six Live in a Dive records and would have to say that this one is the best!
The guitar playing is great, drumming is amazing, Joey Cape's voice is legendary and the comic in the booklet is funny too.
Good first LAGWAGON cd.

- The live version of Little Johnny Jewel is an event. Listen to this to hear the inheritor of the Jimi Hendrix mantle. Listen to this for another world, a dark vision beyond goth or metal. Listen to this for an artist pushing beyond stupid formula into new territory. Listen to this.
- What a find! I've always _liked_ Television, but the studio records left me just a wee bit cold. This burns a hole in your spakers. Not just for previous fans. Art-rockers will no doubt like the studio stuff better, but rock-rockers will likely appreciate this more. I'm a bit of a tech-geek and I hate badly engineered records, but I find this eminently listenable. The sound is not necessarily full, but its reasonably crisp. It is a live reocrding after all, and sounds like it. But this should not keep anyone away. Yes, the shorter, quiter, more 'composed' songs like Venus do work better in the album versions. But most of the material here benefits from the looser, more energetic playing. One could say its more passionate, but that doesn't begin to describe it. These guys are playing like their lives are at stake. Even if disc one was a total waste, which it isn't, disc two would be worth more than the price of admission even WITHOUT 'Little Johnny Jewel", and that particular track is priceless. I think this is simply one of the great rock and documents ever, right up there with The Who Live at Leeds.
- If you havent heard Television and want to learn the origins of todays and tomorrows rock, than buy this record. Everyone seems to only mention Tom Verlaines work, but its the virtuosity of the guitar interplay that occurs between Richard Lloyd and Tom Verlaine (2 geniuses of the guitar) that make this band extraordinary (and Tom Verlains haunting vocals).
I am amazed by their last studio effort in '92 which almost surpasses Marquee Moon and Adventure. I saw them live in '92 at Roseland in NYC and was amazed how fresh and new this band still sounded. No other band compares. Kudo's to Bono for mentioning Television and Patti Smith as their main influences during this years rock and roll hall of fame. I wish other bands would admit their ideas were borrowed if not stolen from these legendary bands and composers.
Catch them while you can and buy their albums!
- This is simply one of the greatest recorded live performances I've ever heard and I spend a good deal of my life listening to live music in person and on CD.
The downer is that the sound quality is pretty poor in spots, but does get better on some tracks. Consequently, listening to this on headphones definitely beats listening to it in your car. In short, the sound quality will annoy you at times, but if you listen carefully, I believe you'll find it well worth it. On "The Blow-Up" you hear a band that is literally fearless. It's a bit like watching four incredibly gifted artists sprint back and forth on a tightrope. Not only is the collective performance incredible, but Verlaine's material ranks with the finest in rock history. Yes, the guitars are awesome, but the rhythm section of Fred Smith and Billy Ficca is equally incredible. Buy Marquee Moon first (everyone should own a copy of that), but get this too to hear what Television were capable of live. If you can find a copy, I'd also highly recommend Television - Live At The Old Waldorf: San Francisco, 6/29/78. This disc is a much shorter show, but it was professionally recorded and the sound quality is top notch. The performance is excellent, but perhaps not quite as incendiary as on "The Blow-Up." Sadly, Rhino Handmade only issued 5,000 copies of "Live At the Old Waldorf," so you'll have to do some hunting on Ebay, etc. However, if you love great rock and roll, it's worth the trouble and expense.
- The first Television album is all tension and restraint -- beautiful guitars slashing at each other over Verlaine's wavery voice and a thumping rhythm section. "Marquee Moon" is the sound of a world class garage band, and one of the great guitar bands of all rock music playing majestic music, nearly losing control at each curve, but catching themselves before they fell apart.
This album strays at every opportunity. It's loud and indulgent. The playing is sometimes ridiculously sloppy, but when the band gets it right, as with the 15 minutes of "Little Johnny Jewel," it's as breathtaking as anything on "Marquee Moon." I still prefer the studio versions of every song on this album to the live ones, but this is the perfect companion to "Marquee Moon." Even though the album was recorded after "Marquee Moon" was released, it works well as a backdrop for that album. Compared to the insane experimentation here, the solo on the studio version of "Marquee Moon" sounds tame and structured. The full-blown feakout of "Friction" is compressed into a tight single in the studio. Which isn't to say the album doesn't stand on its own. As a double live album with low quality sound, it doesn't have much going for it in principle, but the guitars are fantastic. Very raw, very loud, and a lot of fun. Any fan of rock music owes it to themselves to buy "Marquee Moon" first (THAT'S the essential album), but this works well for those of us who can't get enough of a good thing.

- This is one of my favorite cds. Briad is such an amazing band, and they prove it by this live album. The opportunity of hearing their raw talent, is one that should never be passes up. Because it is a live album, it is a little difficult to hear the screams and "yeah"'s, which are my favoite part. This is a great cd if it is the first Braid CD you purchase, because it has a wide variety of songs from all albums, even including some new songs. If you like this CD, I recomend that you go out and by the others. Then you can get the full effect of the yells, like in "the new nathan detroit". So all of you wondering wether to buy this album, get it now!! I promise that you wont regret it!

- This is an awesome addition to any Braid collection. This is such a great cd, made better for me considering that i was there at this show. it was my first time seeing them, kinda ironic, no? well, either way, i was floored at the show, and it totally continues and is heard in this cd. All the energy is there from the full lengths and then some. If you need more evidence of the great show they put on, they now have a video of the last few days of the band. it includes clips from their last five shows, Milwaukee, Fireside(chicago), Metro, Fireside "not so secret secret show", and then back to Champaign where it all began. Also ther are interviews from band members. Yeah, so, if you like the band even just a little bit, then you will grow to love this cd, just try to keep the tears welled up inside.
- Braid is one of those bands that is so fun to listen to you can put their CD on repeat and never get tired of it. This CD is great and really inexpensive so I reccomend that anyone into Get Up Kids, Promise Ring, or Mineral buy this CD. You will not be disappointed, this is one of the best live CDs I have ever heard.
- This is a great Farewell CD to braid since we all know that they are gonna split up after 6 years of playing but this has to be thier best CD yet is has a numper of wounderfull tracks new and old and this is a must bye for any braid fallower. i must say this is their best CD yet and it deserives way more than 5 stars they are a wonfull band that does not get the respect they desirve this is a great CD and BAnd to Listen to just give it one listin and i garentee you will get a smile on your face, braid has inspired me to take up guiter i surely hope u can listin to this CD and give them a shot
