- This album isnt quite as good as special view, but it is definitely worth buying any true power pop or pre-punk rock and roll fan should put this in their album collection right away.

- A wonderful idea, putting out a succession of live albums. You can chart their progress and listen to their live prowess grow. Live Two, like the entire series, is essential to understanding this great group.
- Coil has always been about magick and madness and this release is no exception. Hearing Jhon Balance perform live intensifies these attributes as compared to Coil's studio recordings. Coil Live Two gathers versions of the best pieces off the Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil release with the manic "What Kind of Animal Are You?" and "Blood From The Air" from Horse Rotorvator. Recorded in Moscow in 2001, Live Two will delight appreciators of Coil's more difficult music.

- Have any of you heard Crass? This is supposed to sound like Crass or RP or any of the other Crass Label bands. Do your research, damnit.
- Lately, my interest in punk has been at its absolute lowest. So much of it is poppy, whiny stuff with no personality. This album, though, keeps entertaining me. First, theres the cover, featuring a drawing of a man shooting at an airplane. Politically incorrect, true to punk's roots. Open it up, what do we find? Ridiculous drawings of things like a punk vomiting, feces, and someone getting run over by a steamroller. Already we see it isn't something to take too seriously. And thats why its so great. There is no shortage of silly humor and unusual topics (G.E Smith as scary neighbor, mustaches representing communism, a reference to Jack Palances push-ups, the list goes on). This music is fun, funny, and chuckle-inducing. Don't take it too seriously. Just enjoy it. And I havent even gotten started on the actual music. These guys can play FAST with great precision. Some of the slower songs toward the end leave a little bit to be desired, but most of the album as a whole is quite brilliant.
- i decided to write this because i saw a few people saying that this wasnt that great for the Vandals and that soup of the day was a bad song. they're wrong, this is one of the top albums of all time, and soup of the day is an amazing song, anyone who disagrees is a complete idiot. The Vandals are my favorite band but the only two albums that even come close to this one are Oi! To the World, and Hollywood Potato Chip. thats all.
- even though I listen to mostly Hiphop i enjoy a good punkrock/metal album once and a while. This album is a grade A classic with song titles like power mustache and live fast diarrhea you know what to expect. I used to listen to all punk rock but got tired of listening to the same four chords from every band and hearing the same trite lyrics about the government gets a little old after a while. The vandals are one of the only bands beside the Bad Brains and Avail that I can stand this and any of the other vandals albums up to hitler bad vandals good are highly recomended.
- Alot of Vandals cds will have some great songs on it, but then there are some that... well, suck. Just simply terrible and horrific. The only reason this cd isn't one my favorites is the last song, "Soup of the Day." The song is so bad, it actually angers me. Either because it's just that bad or it just ruins the cd that much. Either way, easily one of, it not Vandals best.

So what? It's a CD, with all it's limitations. Even so, this is a gloriously pure recording, no cuts whatsoever- the tape just runs.
The band jumps out of your speakers, with Dave Yow's inimitable between song patter launching another precision barrage from easily one of the most consistently lockstep bands ever to hit a stage.
Truest evolution of punk energy into controlled demolition, Dave taunting the Damned (headliners), the nyc rock stars in the audience, using the uncomprehending smattering of claps at the close of a song like nitrous fuel for the next.
I saw 'em no fewer than 6 times, and when I'm 80, it will probably best describe the zeitgheist of those times AND those moments.

- I saw The Jesus Lizard play at the Middle East in Boston in the last ninties, and it was probably one of the best experiences I've had, rock group entertainment-wise: David Yow was the manifestation of some type of swamp creature, who had crawled out of his back woods lair to climb around the bar and hang from the rafters, literally swinging all around and freaking people out. Show is the Jesus Lizard live experience, complete with between song banter, which is almost worth the price alone (at some point Mac's monitor goes out and David Yow says, "I think Mac's monitor has joined the realms of the non-existant." Someone in the crowd asks, "Is that Neiche?" and David Yow replies, "Neiche? I Neiche your mouth full of my cock," which may just be my late adolescent first encounter with The Jesus Lizard speaking, or the fact that it's the most hilarious thing I've ever heard in my life). Beyond the theatrics, what the disc provides you essentially, is the fact that this was an incredibly awesome live group, and if you missed them here's you chance to catch a glimpse--until they try and capitalize on some future interest punk rock, and reunite.
- The last time I saw the Jesus Lizard i had brought along two friends who knew nothing about the band. They both were blown away literally and had to leave before the show was over. Once simply replied "my heart has felt like was going to pop out of my chest many a time, but that felt like the exact opposite."
This album comes as close to anything that possibly could capture that feeling, but still miles away. Simply the best live band to grace any stage.
- This was the best live band I ever had the fortune to see and therefore I'm grateful to have a live CD to remind me of those great shows (at CBGB's no less!) As other reviewers of their stuff have mentioned, the singer is uniquely undecipherable and that's part of the beauty, the essence of this music. It is NOT for the faint of heart and isn't like anything else you've ever heard.
- after hearing this album i just wanted to go out and do something. it got my adrenaline pumping and my soul moving. the man's voice jumps out at you and you can't get it out. this is the first time i heard of jesus lizard so i don't know much about them but they got me moving. i was actually sweating after hearing it. later peeps

3 comments about Hippodrome (Paris 77).
- Alright, now THIS is more like it.An eleven track live performance from an early Iggy tour, mind you. This might've been his very first European solo outing. From his 'Lust For Life' trek. The sound isn't perfect, but outside of a few moments of annoying feedback,'Hippodrome-Paris '77' is a darn good live release. Some killer cuts include "Lust For Life","Passenger",the rarely played Mitch Ryder cover "C.C.Rider/Jenny Take A Ride" and a couple of Stooges numbers "Raw Power" and "I Wanna Be Your Dog".Line-up:Iggy-vocals,Stacey Heydon-guitar,former Stooges member Scott Thurston-keyboards,Tony Sales-bass and Hunt Sales-drums.A must-have.
- "This is the best f---ing band in the world right now," Iggy tells the audience, and it is. The live versions of these songs are (if it's possible) even better than the album versions. It isn't a perfect recording (there are some horrible feedback squeals in the Passenger) but it's well worth trying to ignore them. The rest of the CD is absolutely wonderful. This one actually includes Iggy's comments between songs (including a discussion between him and drummer Hunt Sales that I would die to be able to understand) which are really interesting, especially when he orders the audience not to applaud after his songs. This is definitely better than TV Eye Live. You can actually hear the backing vocals here! (If you're not a fan of the Sales brothers, well, too bad.)
- taken from the lust for life tour, iggy and his band(stacey heydon, tony sales, hunt sales , and former stooges keyboardist scott thurston [replacing david bowie]) put on an excellent show. iggy informs the audience that there are no stars on stage and they don't have to applaud. he also names off his band members and and mentions that all the men in his band came to visit him in the mental hospital.this album is an unpolished one take from the september 23,1977 concert at hippodrome in paris france and features the rareities "cc rider/jenny take a ride" and "that's how strong my love is". he rants a few times about the overwheling egos of rock stars and this endears him even more to his audience.this cd may not be for the casual fan but then again neither is iggy. if you want to hear music from a real band that believed in what they were doing this is an album to buy, a must have if you will. most of the bands that were outselling iggy at the time are now merely bargain bin garbage, but the ig will always be cool and will always be himself he didn't need to dress up in costumes or put on elaborate stage shows to secure his following.john lennon once said "give me some truth" well iggy delivered, even when no one wanted to hear it.

- First the good news. There is finally a release of the Damned's amazing BBC In Concert performance from May 1977, where the original quartet, at their musical peak, run through most of their debut album plus a few singles tracks. For those who've never heard the original Damned, they're generally described as a "punk" band, and they are. But this is primal, high-energy rock that belongs in the pantheon with the Stooges, MC5 and vintage Motorhead. And on this live set, they're faster and tighter than any of those bands. Simply incredible musicianship by what must have been, at the time, the fastest rock band ever. Kudos especially to drummer Rat Scabies--as wild as Keith Moon yet remarkably on the beat, always keeping the momentum up.
This package is worth the money just for that 24-minute live set. Unfortunately, it's a mess in every other way. The live set would make a perfect release on its own. There's also the (almost) complete Stiff Records studio recordings from 1976-77--one song is missing, a b-side version of Stretcher Case (but we get that song in three other versions on this set). The Damned Stiff recordings are a classic ouevre and would also be a great release on their own (fitting on one CD). The debut album is just as exciting as the live set I described above, with an even more powerful, amazingly raw studio sound.
Unfortunately this great music is watered down with already available BBC session recordings that repeat many titles in less exciting versions. And the BBC sessions are interspersed chronologically with the studio recordings, which means you get lots of repetition of songs, often very close to each other.
Finally, the mastering on the Stiff recordings is terrible. The drums come across better than ever, but the sound in some places is excessively bright. Yet in other places, there's distortion that sounds like nobody even did a quality-control check. "See Her Tonite", a highlight of the debut album, is unlistenable here, with "in the red" noise throughout and a horrible blast of static near the end.
There are also three unreleased demos from 1976. These sound terrible compared with the long available bootleg versions. The tape hiss is removed, but so is all the life in the guitar sound. And there's a live "bonus" disc from a 1976 concert that is probably the worst-sounding recording I've ever bought from a "legit" record company.
The package includes a seven-inch-size book with lots of nice photos and a long essay. I haven't read the essay, but just in scanning the basic track info and credits, I found countless typos and errors, more signs of a rush job with poor quality control.
