5 comments about Save Me, San Francisco.
- I think Train have really made a mark with this record, and it's probably their best since Drops of Jupiter - which has been very hard to top! This album overall has a catchy vibe and there's a few songs that really make me smile. It's quite a happy album, with a few slower songs here and there to even it out. This is for sure their comeback album!
Save Me, San Francisco: Awesome track! It has a slight country feel to it at first, but once the song starts to move along you find yourself tapping along and wondering when Train got so much groove. I love the "oh hell no!" part. 5/5
Hey, Soul Sister: Another toe-tapper... I just fell for this song when I first heard it. Something about the bongo sort of feel at the start, and then it just builds and you get into it. It's such a fun, happy song and always make me feel cheery! 5/5
I Got You: This track is in same sort of vibe as the previous two before it. Happy-clappy sort of music and easy to listen to. 4.5/5
Parachute: This track is a slight change than the other three before, more mellow and slowing down a little. It's a great song, more like the Train I'm used to hearing. I actually think of Daughtry when I hear it - not that that's a bad thing I guess. It has some really beautiful metaphors in the lyrics. 4.5/5
This Ain't Goodbye: This tracks slows it right down... and I LOVE this song. It's beautiful. Almost on a par with Drops of Jupiter. 5/5
If It's Love: Another catchy one; I like the fast-paced lyrics. 5/5
You Already Know: It takes a full minute for this song to get moving, so it drags a bit. But once you get past the start, it picks up and ends up being a pretty good track. 4/5
Words: This starts with Pat's vocals scratching into your ear and straining all desperate-like. It's nice. Very nice indeed. 5/5
Brick By Brick: A really nice slower track. It's quite a standard Train ballad, but that doesn't make any less good. It's not really ground-breaking material but it doesn't have to. If it's not broken, don't fix it. 4.5/5
Breakfast In Bed: This is a little different to the rest of the songs. It's more mellow, and has that indie feel with hushed vocals. It's not a favourite, but it's not bad. 4/5
Marry Me: This is a great way to wind down the record. A beautiful acoustic track, just Pat's voice and a guitar. I could see this becoming a 'first dance' song for weddings especially with the line: "Marry me today and every day." Sweet song. 5/5
- I love this CD. Every time I play it, I get a smile on my face. A great collection of songs and a great value.
- Like any band with such a long history, Train has had some points that were better than others, although in my opinion, they have been relatively consistent. This album is among their best though and I think it's safe to say they're back in a big way! Shows they are moving forward as a group but also has enough of the classic sound that put them on the map. Raw and authentic. If you liked the first record, you'll like this one.
On a related not, it's really refreshing to see them doing so well with this one. I hope it will have a positive affect on the new music being released now and we can get more stuff as good as this.
- Really liked this new Train compilation.... I found this CD to be upbeat and, well, HAPPY . . . I think Train has pulled into the right station :D
- If you do like Train, you will like this CD. Have listened to this many times already, alerted other Train fans this is available and 5 of us headed for the live show on March 17, in Glenside PA. We have been waiting for new music from this group and here it is. Glad to see most members have come together again to perform. The "Hey Soul Sister" video available for viewing on their official site.

5 comments about Drops of Jupiter.
- Despite being a favorite "Whipping Boy" of critics and the "In crowd"...Train's "Drops of Jupiter" holds up as one of the best rock releases of the 2000s. Pat Monahan's vocals are arresting. Charlie Colin cooks up innovative bass lines that rival Chris Squire (of Yes). And, Paul Buckmaster's orchestral arrangements are his best since Madman Across the Water (Elton John). Stunning album!"
- How anyone likes this is beyond me it totally sucks. The lyrics just suck and are very uninspired, bands like this usually don't write their own music anyhow so it wouldn't suprize me. The overplayed craptastic song from this album "Drops Of Jupiter" is a terrible radio play song that I would rather stab myself in the throat than listen to again. The vocals are terrible and the musicianship just isn't there. Train suck.
- 'Drops Of Jupiter' was Train's sophmore release and it was hugely successful making many people realise that the band's hit with 'Meet Virginia' wasn't a one off success but that this band had a genuine talent. In this brilliant album release, Train straddles the easy melodies of pop rock with a rock jamming beat. Train comprises of 5 men with age and majestic experience behind them and it flows into their music. Pat Monahan has a excellent voice for singing, the words come out clean and pure and he doesn't range into the screams that many modern rock lead singers vaccilate towards.
The album begins with a feel good song in 'She's On Fire' that is easy to sing along to with simply an amazing chorus. This is followed by the semi introverted 'I Wish You Would' and then the self titled song that became a radio staple 'Drops of Jupiter' that is one of Train's best songs. Another decent song is 'Hopeless' with a jamming rythmn and qaint lyrics. My favourite song on this album was the ageless beauty of a tranquil 'Whipping Boy' that Pat sings with a soft reserve and is a serenade for those downtrodden. The rest of the songs are fillers but still enjoyable and engaging in their own right and respect.
This album is a must for any Train fan or soft-rock enthusiast. A perfect album for a romantic evening or a night out with friends or family. Train followed this album with more respect and fame.
- I'm not going to repeat what everybody's said, but yes, most of the songs on this CD don't have as much feeling as "Drops of Jupiter". If it were MY choice, i'd ask that they make a Single CD on that song. It's very...soothing. It makes you sort of reminisce what's happened to you, what's happening, and what's to come. The rest of the songs are alright, but they're just not the sort of songs i can sink my teeth into and enjoy every bite my ears take.
- Like many reviewers, I can truly appreciate the title track, Drops of Jupiter. Great vocals, super keyboards and heart felt lyrics make this song(not CD) a true winner.
The rest of the CD just sounds like run of the mill pop that is here today gone tommorow. She's On Fire, Its About You, Missisippi, and Let It Roll On are semi-memorable tunes with a few good harmonies thrown in for good measure.
Otherwise this group sounds like they are merely trying to find their sound. It's too clean and pretty to be rock n roll but not natural enough to be country. Its merely syrupy hum drum pop that does not offend me but certainly does not move me either.

- this album makes me dance. it is simply BEAUTIFUL - if you are a Dave fan, this is the Best....... of the best.... and i can't get over Tim Reynolds...he is absolutley magical. * * *
- I liked the way Dave and Tim were doing with their guitars. It is amazing what you can do just with 2 guitars.
The blu-ray format is incredible.
I won't write too much about Dave's singing skill. There are plenty of them. But just assure you that you will not regret your purchase, if you like good vocal, realistic lyrics and good guitar playing...
- if you like dave matthews and acoustical, you'll love this. Tim Reynolds is simply the best!
- As promised, the cd was in good condition and I recived it on time.
Thank you.
- The audio and video are superb. You ARE sitting inside these guitars. Its amazing. Put it on a 100 inch or bigger screen in HD with high resolution audio, and its pure heaven.

- First rock and roll concert I ever attended was the Allman Brothers. These guys were awesome then and still are. Definitely should be in everyone's collection. Easy, mellow listening.
- Orginally, wasn't too familiar with the allman brothers band. I'd heard of them, but was not really in the mood to download them since I have ton of old music that i listen to. I decided to get their best hits album, and I thought most of it was pretty good. I really enjoy their rough garage rock sound, and though the lead singer's vocals were pretty standard for a rock singer. I was afraid that this album would be a bit too much on the country side, but I was glad that they didn't stray away from the rock sound. Overall, my favorite songs that I really like were southbound ramblin man, and whipping post. I really liked the folksy blueness of this band. They seem to remind me alot of the Doobie Brothers which were propably competing against them in the charts during this time frame.
- I didn't realize how many Allman Brothers songs I knew until I purchased this CD. Even the ones I didn't know were terrific. This is a great compilation CD of their best work, in my opinion. I have nearly worn this CD out over the years.
- There have already been plenty of reviews on this one, so I'll just point out a few things. How about a "Big Thanks" to all the previous reviewers who gave this one a 5 star rating!!!! This is an excellent 16 song cd of the Allman Brothers Band "classic hits & songs".
You get songs like "Statesboro Blues", "Ramblin'Man", "Midnight Rider", "Southbound", "Melissa", "Jessica", "Revival", "Blue Sky" "One Way Out", "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", "Dreams", "Whipping Post" and others.
This is a great cd, and I highly recommend it. Thanks!!!
- The Allmans Brothers Band was one of the greatest rock groups in the world and this CD is the one to own if you don't want to drag out 4 or 5 CD's to hear your favorite cuts. All of their first four albums are superb but this CD captures the essence of those. I'm sure there will be a favorite missing, like "Done Somebody Wrong" one of my faves, but if you're looking for one CD that captures their magic, this is the best one to have. I saw them a few times live between 1970 and 1971, and they were the finest live band I've ever seen. I recommend all of their first five albums, but if you don't have the time, money or room, this CD is your logical choice. Outstanding and if I was on a desert island, this would be one of my picks.

- Govt' Mule has done a good job, as discussed in the liner notes of this album, of breaking new ground and yet staying connected with their roots. They have employed new rhythms and kept old ones. The same tone you are used to from the albums Gov't Mule, Deja Voodoo, The Deep End vol 1 and 2 come thru so you won't be surprised as I was when I bought their 2007 album Mighty High. That was not an album I reviewed online, it was on a whim. Every other album I like, just not Mighty High. I own every album they have put out except Dose. I like the live versions better. You will like this album. Newcomers to Gov't Mule might like the strong guitar strumming, keyboard work by Danny Louis, and Warren Haynes Vocals. Deep, soulful, Bluesy, and passionate music. If I were to replace my early Rolling Stones albums, this is the artist I would chose, hands down.
- This is a strong set of rock tracks by a very talented band that jams. Became a fan of Haynes' guitar work after he joined The Allman Brothers Band and began buying Govt Mule cds but have never considered myself a fan of the band. This album may change that. It's the best album in the genre since 2003's Hittin' the Note. But don't be misled. This isn't a "southern rock" album as much as it is a album recorded by some southern guys who rock. Haynes' guitar talents are on display on every track - and right away! The first track, Broke Down of the Brazos, builds off the energy and grind provided by new bassist Carlsson to produce one of the best rock songs in years. Haynes has an obvious love for Hendrix/Vaughan as evidenced by Inside Outside Woman but stays closer to home with this album than his more adventurous colleague from The Allman Brothers, Derek Trucks, does with his solo work. If your idea of a great Saturday is a cooler of cold Buds, some sun, some friends, and some great American rock, buy this. You'll love it.
- Government Mule , who I have been a big fan of, has been going downhill for a while. Like a lot of groups I think their creativity is either spent or they feel the need to be mainstream. The one bright spot in the past few years has been Mighty High (which demonstrated creativity and has some excellent songs on it) and that has mostly reworked/sampled material. This disc is almost a complete loss - except for some bright moments on the last few songs and they don't even cut it because Warren seems to have some strange desire to break a good groove up with softer pop girlie moments. My suggestion is that the group figure it out. Go back to what made you great and different or sell the hell out completely and do more hard pop songs. Before I go I want to say that the majority of my frustration lies with the other reviewers here. I bought this CD because of the reviews and the lack of songs to sample. I took a chance. Well the majority of you must not know what Gov't Mule is about (Or was about?). This album shows Gov't Mule may be content with the mainstream move it has been on for years and as such maybe the majority of the reviewers who gave this thing a thumbs up have evolved with the band and embrace the "new" Gov't Mule. I for one do not buy in to that movement and want the bad asses I loved back.
- I have seen Gov't Mule a few times in person and enjoyed their shows. I really do like this new release from them. Hard driving rock vibe. Not the typical overplayed garbage that is out there aplenty. Thanks to the Mule for putting this out, my fav to date.
- When I first heard Gov't Mule, I thought that they were just a little kickass blues rock trio in the vein of ZZ Top. They had some good riffs here and there, and Warren was a great singer/guitar player, but I've heard better bands and more memorable songs.
That opinion has been flushed down the toilet with this release. To put it quite frankly, this is the best album Gov't Mule has EVER put out, and quite possibly one of the best rock and roll albums of 2009, possibly the decade even. It's all over the place. Barnstomping blues, Hendrix funk, soulful ballads, Led Zeppelin-inspired riffs, psychedelia, and the powerful vocals of Mr. Haynes. It's a fantastic album, and it FEELS like a rock album should sound like. There's a terrific flow to everything.
Broke Down On The Brazos just kicks it. Boogie in the vein of ZZ Top (It even has Billy Gibbons playing guitar), this is one of the heaviest songs the band has ever created (Apart from a certain track I will talk about later in the review.). Warren and Billy tear it up for 6-plus minutes in one of the best guitar duels ever recorded.
Steppin' Lightly is a song that reminds me of old-Mule, but the songwriting and pace of the song works, and it doesn't go into weird forgettable directions like some of the earlier stuff. It all feels right.
Railroad Boy is a reworking of an old Celtic folk song, transformed into something Led Zeppelin would've done circa 1975.
Monday Mourning Meltdown is a fine example of how Gov't Mule has progressed into an amazing BAND, and not just 3 guys backing Warren Haynes. Listen to the trippy keyboard work on this, it's a feast for the ears. And the backwards guitar solo! Just lovely.
Gordon James is a fantastic southern ballad which reminds me of something Counting Crows would do. Lovely song, though I can't place just who it's about though.
Any Open Window is just badassery. You know you're in for some funk when it's dedicated to Mitch Mitchell and Buddy Miles.
Frozen Fear sounds like it would've easily fit onto a Derek Trucks record. While it's certainly the least fulfilling song on the album, it's still quite good, and that's saying a lot.
Forevermore is a dark ballad with some interesting space noises. Very atmospheric song.
Inside Outside Woman Blues #3.....WOAH! Warren lets his hair down with this one! This is borderline heavy metal. If you think Warren has softened over the years, listen to this song. It's just intense.
Scenes From A Troubled Mind is a funky little song with some great slide work. Another keeper from a great album.
And finally, World Wake Up is a dark psychedelic song about how our economy and our world is going down the crapper. It's a fantastic album closer, you could close your eyes and imagine Pink Floyd doing this were it not for the southern accented vocals.
This album has it all. Great songs, terrific playing, showmanship, amazing tones, variety. It's just a perfect album. If you love rock and roll, get this album.

5 comments about Crash.
- I can't believe how much I like this CD. I am a new fan and asked a friend who is a fan for the name of the CD to start listening to their music and this was the one.
It's great - start to finish.
I only wish I'd discovered this band sooner.
The variety of instruments and the emotion Matthews puts into the songs is amazing.
- Before writing my review I read through most of the folks that rated this album one star. Basically, their brilliant analysis of this record amounts to "this stuff is popular so of course it sucks!" and "these guys aren't real musicians!" and "Dave can't sing". Okay, if you don't like the singer's voice for any band it's difficult or impossible to listen to the band. Personally, I don't understand the dislike for Dave's voice - it is certainly nothing akin to Geddy Lee or other vocalists that commonly warrant contempt (from others, not me: I love RUSH and the only vocalist that I've found I can't stand is Josh Groban.)
So the other arguments for disliking this record amount to "I dislike this record", "DMB sucks!", and "anything popular is garbage!" - now, perhaps it is just me, but don't those opinions sound like air-headed, anti-establishment high school sophomores with a chip on their shoulder? To me they do. I know folks that hate anything that gets radio play. Why do they hate music that gains a visible public following? It seems they carry psychological scars - perhaps they were in punk bands in their younger years (or still are) and never made the millions that they now resent being made by bands like DMB. I can understand that resentment, but it doesn't make DMB bad - it just makes DMB a symbol for those poorer, emotionally driven non-fans. So sad.
It is sad because Dave Matthews *can* be a symbol of what great music aspires to be. I quit listening to music on the radio perhaps twenty years ago because there was so much drivel (and commercials.) I discovered Dave Matthews somewhat by accident and that event was like finding an oasis in the desert - holy cow, there are still musicians making music with complexity, real instruments, real voices, and real lyrics! And this was just before Crash was released. When I first heard Crash I knew that Under The Table And Dreaming was not just a fluke, that there really was a band that would be making music for decades to come that would evolve, grow, change, surprise me, and make me hunger for more.
This is a recording that satisfies from beginning to end. Yes, I love Proudest Monkey! Every song on this record has something great to offer and Lie In Our Graves is one of the best songs DMB has ever created. Yes, live versions of many of these songs are perhaps better or warmer. I like listening to the studio versions as well as the live versions and hearing the contrast. If you don't like studio versions, choose otherwise! Pretty simple.
Dave Matthews is not for the individual that rejects what has popularity for the sake of rejecting what is popular. If that describes you then I might suggest you avoid learning what is popular (I have no idea what industry chart numbers DMB records have reached because I choose not to make myself aware of industry charts) and instead learn to choose what is good because it is good. I believe that is part of growing up and thinking for yourself, ironic though that may sound.
- A couple of good songs but nothing much. Dave seems to thing that the more instruments that you put on a track all playing at once, the better it sounds. I don't agree. Go for his acoustic tracks.
- I would like to state that I am a Dave Matthews fan and own all of his albums. Crash is hands down not only my favorite DMB album but on my top list of all cds (I own over a 1000 cds).
The DMB is known as a touring band that can take any song and turn it into a 10 minute jam. Most of the crowd favorites of any concert are songs off the Crash album. In my opinion the entire album is solid from the well known to the least known. I would be comfortable in saying that the DMB should offer a money back gurantee on this album since everyone that I know enjoys it including a buddy who listens to bands such as Slayer.
If you are reading reviews to decide if this cd is worth the money, I can only say put it in the cart you will not be disappointed.
- 4 1/2
This certainly must be as worthwhile a DMB album as any other they have come out with. It is one that, in retrospect especially, you get the feeling the creative effortlessness which guided all twelve of these unique afro-pop-rock-jazz fusion treats and framed all of them in such a warmth has all but completely run dry. Whether you are a fan of the band's signature sound or not is besides the point that Crash can rate as one of the more solid major label rock records of the 90's-easy. What did not become a massive hit on radio is an even greater treat to hear. The only possible problems I see are the sometimes overindulgences Matthews uses vocally, and the fact that Crash Into Me/Let You Down, and Too Much/Tripping Billies feel similar. Similarly great, that is.

- What a great set of songs! Wow... a must have for anyone who likes DMB.
- If you buy only one Dave Matthews cd, this should be the one but once you have this one you'll want more. It's that good. Rich musically with interesting, at times poignant lyrics.
- What can I say? It's DMB. In my opinion, there's not a better band today and there's no better place to shop than Amazon.
- Would definitely buy from this seller again. Came very quickly and in condition that was stated. Thanks!
- I am not a HUGE DMB fan, but I do have about 5 albums of theirs. Love them all--one of the few bands I can listen to the entire CD of, not just select tracks.
HOWEVER, I have been trying to get this particular CD on my PC (to transfer to my MP3) for about 5 years now. Have tried my copy, friends' copies, the library's copy--to no avail.
Copyright law states that a consumer may make one back-up copy of any copyrighted material, so there should be no copy-protection anyway. I just want to put the album on my MP3 so I can listen more often. I even thought I would purchase the MP3 album (and pay ANOTHER $12!!!!!) just so that I could have it--but they don't offer MP3 album through Amazon.
DMB, rethink this copy-protected garbage. As another reviewer pointed out, your albums sell quite well and you tour often. Some of us DO ALREADY pay the money for your work but want to actually be able to USE it!

5 comments about My Private Nation.
- Given Train's success with the strings- and piano-drenched single "Drops of Jupiter," it's not surprising that their sound on 'My Private Nation' has changed significantly from their first two albums. While Pat Monahan's lyrics and vocals remain solid, the new pop/rock sound inevitably leaves songs sounding less original than previous Train material. The album, overall, is quite good; its quality is just hidden beneath a layer of mainstream production.
Standout tracks: Calling All Angels, When I Look To The Sky, Your Every Color
- Bought for husband, he loves it and recommends it to anyone who will listen to him.
- What can one say? It's music; it's subjective. I liked some songs, didn't connect with others. Like poetry, we come to music with various needs. The songs either satisfy us or they don't. The only way to know if it's what you need... is to listen....
- This is my favorite CD from Train. It strikes the balance between solid tracks from top to bottom and having a couple of "radio friendly" hits. The first six tracks are as strong as any front six on any cd put out in the past couple of years and there isn't a song on the disc that feels like it doesn't belong there.
- Starting out with the one two punch of "Calling All Angels" and "All American Girl" was interesting. I was waiting to see if the band could match the energy and sheer tuneful nature of these two cuts. I found myself impressed because the band maintains the quality throughout. I think the band was finding their footing after the uneven nature of DROPS OF JUPITER. There are a number of good cuts here from the edgy title cut to the plaintive "Lincoln Avenue" there is a maturity here and it is appreciated. I still think the lyrics are still a bit simplistic, there is no mystery everything is spelled out a bit too clearly, but this is definitely a good listen.

- LOVE JIMMY BUFFETT MUSIC AND THIS WAS A 2 DISC SET. THE #1 DISC HAS LOTS OF HIS BIG HITS AND I LOVE LISTENING TO IT. THE #2 DISC HAD MOSTLY SONGS THAT I WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH, SO I'M NOT ENJOYING IT AS MUCH. BUT I WILL EVENTUALLY LEARN TO SING ALONG WITH THOSE SONGS TOO.
- This "ultimate collection" of Jimmy Buffet's is the best! What a wonderful set of beach music tunes perfect for getting you in the mood of relaxing during your next beach or cruise vacation. I first found out about Jimmy Buffet back in 1987 from a group of Florida State University (Go Gators!) social work students that had been attending a social work conference in New Orleans at the time. "Would you like to go to his concert tomorrow?" they queried. Not knowing anything about him I said "Of course" then was swept up into this most happy, invigorating, lively music which actually encouraged my participation with the use of hands during the "Fins" song. I have never been the same since. I have now visited Margaritaville restaurants in New Orleans, Key West, the Caymans and in Panama City, Florida. Even more so I brought this tape along the last time my husband and I went on a Carnival cruise and played it on our balcony while dancing and singing to "Margaritaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise", "Last Mango in Paris", "Why Don't We Get Drunk" and "Brown Eyed Girl". Let's not forget the "Desperation Samba" and "Creola" on the tape along with a host of others. Folks, this is a GREAT tape! My neighbors in the next balcony overheard me playing it on my portable DVD player and proceeded dancing to Jimmy Buffet's music on their balcony (the next over) as well. They later told us it was one of the most memorable moments of the cruise! So, want to start a party? Play this tape! It will make you smile!!!
- Great CD. Makes you feel like you're on vacation. The songs are classic trop rock.
- Bought this CD to enjoy as we drove down the Florida Keys to Key West. It's the perfect music for the drive.
Thanks Jimmy. We love you.
- This is the Greatest double album ever next to the Antigua concert. Jimmy never fails to lighten your heart and make you laugh. The only singer I know that can make you want to be there all the time!

5 comments about The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East.
- The very first time I Heard to "Statesboro blues", from live at fillmore, I was 15 years old...( Knowing nothing about The Allman's and less about the blues). I was just amazed and wondering how the guitar player and the singer were having that dialogue, and I already had read something about it like "A blues lesson". So I started to listen to the "blues". Nowadays , everything has been told about this record...
After all these years (I am 45 years old now) it is simple... The best "live record" of rock and roll history. But if you did not have experience nothing like I did with "STATESBORO", no problem, "STORM MONDAY" , "YOU DON'T LOVE ME" (at the final minutes Duane delivers his best solo ever)and the rest of "AT FILLMORE" are the live document of what one of the best blues/rock/jazz(a pinch) bands of the history could make on stage at that time.

- To be succinct, this album is incredible. From the first notes of Statesboro Blues to every single part of THE live version of Elizabeth Reed, this album is not to be missed. Period. Absolutely one of the most important live albums in rock music.
- Live at the Fillmore ...The music exploded from Duanne's Les Paul...Dicky traded riffs, JJohnny and Butch pounded, Berry held the balance and Greg's soulful voice carried the night..nothing compares with that live concert however crank up the cd or vinyl close your eyes and it's almost as good Play it load, often and never forget The Allman Brothers sound has never been challenged..wcwathey
- Without question, the number one live album of all time. It is hard to believe the crispness of the sound is live vs. being created in the studio. The blend of Dickie Betts guitar along with Duane Allman, and the rhythm created by Berry Oakley's bass and Greg Allman's keyboards create an unmatched sound. The 13:04 minutes of In Memory of Elizabeth Reed are the finest minutes in all of rock music.
- Just got nostalgic! bought this great cd, adding this to Eat a Peach for my Allman Bros. must haves! a great live cd by a great band, can't go wrong here!
