- Main reason I'm giving this 4-CD box set release a five-star rating is because of the 'real $teal' asking price.Looks to be a re-pressing of the Cleopatra's earlier titles,'Space Daze' 2-CD,it's follow-up 'Space Daze 2000' and a bonus CD for disc four, which is a full length release by Klange(never heard of them),but they seem to be like 'dreamy ambient'.Not a bad find.No matter,on the first three CD's,you get key tunes and some 'deep album tracks' of the greats, like Kraftwerk, The Orb, Legendary Pink Dots, Delerium, Ozric Tentacles, Hawkwind, Tangerine Dream, Nik Turner, Future Sound Of London, Melting Euphoria, Dilate among many others. Over five solid hours of music here. Great to listen to on a Saturday night when you have nothing else going on.
- Cheers to all who can appreciate this distinctly strange, anti-pop music. This is a superior compilation, each disc spanning well over 70 minutes, (is the bonus ambient CD still included?) and it connects one with so many roots which a casual listener as myself did not know to exist. The selections of self-proclaimed "ambient space-rock" range from clearly melodic rock (as with Roxy, Eno) to danceable electronica (DIN, Anubian Lights) to inaccessible dissonance from Aphex Twin. All is otherworldly, and it will transport the listener to a new, bizarre soundscape with every track. An outright steal now, but you'll probably end up buying some of the excerpted albums, which I suppose is the ploy of any compilation.

- i love box sets, and was incredibly excited to receive this as a present, because i am a HUGE Silverchair fan. I was disappointed by the fact that this set does not include many rarities, although it does have an interactive disc, which is awesome to view. Also, there is one song on one of the discs called "Undecided." This song is NOT the same song on the Frogstomp album. "Slab" is an interesting 7+ minute mix by Nick Launay, it's basically a huge compilation of all of the songs on "Freak Show." The rarities in this set are not phenomenal, but the set is worth buying.
- if your a silverchair fan this box set needs to be bought
its has the great classic tracks like 'freak' and 'abuse me'. but this also has great b sides. silverchair are definetley the greatest band ever.
- This CD is a great CD. Silverchair is one of the best groups to rock this planet. The CD here is filled with great tracks such as "Freak" and "Madman". This is probably one of the best CD's out there. GO BUY IT!
- oiii! I THINK IT WAS AMAZING TO HEAR IT!I SAID SO BECAUSE THE RHYTHM IS SO ENERGETIC.I HOPE SILVERCHAIR WILL MORE FUNKY IN THE FUTURE. I AS A STUDENT WISH ALL OF YOU SUCCESS BY ANTHEM OF THE YEAR 2000.
- The box set is a collection of all the freakshow singles and it includes an Interview Disc. For any die-hard silverchair fans it is a great pick.

- Some stats:
CD#1= 79:07
CD#2= 78:15
CD#3= 76:23
CD#4= 72:02
Over the years several record companies (major and minor) have put out compiliations of the various artists under their label, and represent those artists accordingly in the box set tradition.
THE NEW ROSE STORY is the compiliation of an obscure French Label whoose most prolific period is covered in this box set... 1980-2000.
Represented is a large amount of music that could be called 'underground' music due to the fact that many here got their first taste of major exposure in Europe through this label; managed to influence alot of music in the States yet still maintained their "unknown" status outside of Europe.
A quick glance of the track listing has artists from just about all genres of music. This speaks well of this collection specifically (lots of variety), and shows New Rose Records as adventurous music 'promoters', spearheading much of the music styles dominant in the 80's and 90's. Post-punk, new wave, singer/songwriter, psychobilly, rockabilly, obscuro, outlaw country, folk, D.I.Y., et al.
What really works in this box concept is the fact that many of the music acts are represented in both group and single artist, where some of the solo artist recordings on the later cds are first represented as a group effort in the begining (the music is presented chronologically).
So rather than this being just a disconnected bunch of styles, it has a certain consistancy, a "flow" if you will. Identifiable vocal, guitar and style nuances are intwined throughout, but never is the originality of each track compromised.
Here are some names that resonate for me here in the States: Alex Chilton (Box Tops), Arthur Lee (Love), Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators), Giant Sand, Bo Diddley, Barrence Whitfield & the Savages, Jeffrey Lee Pierce (Gun Club), Brian James (the Damned), Lyres, Shoes (U.S.), Mike Wilhelm (sf's Charlatans), Chris Bailey (the Saints), Johnny Thunders, Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys)...this is only a very small sample of the diversity here, and this was a surprise for me...though this is a French Label most of the artists featured are from the USA or UK!
This box includes extensive liner notes (large, cool booklet), complete New Rose singles/albums discogrophy for future explorations (you know who you are).
BTW, the sound quality is pristine.

- I was expecting poor quality recordings (& I got poor quality recordings, but hey, it's punk rock!). But what I wasn't expecting was poor quality mastering. This has obviously been mastered on someone's home computer and they haven't even bothered to deselect the 2-second pause option between each track. This is not usually a big problem, except this compilation is two CDs of live music. So 2-seconds of silence between each track sounds pretty awful! ...And they also haven't managed to put the track markers at the beginning of each track. Instead, each track starts about 3 seconds into the song. The CDs are basically un-listenable and whichever way you try to package it, you can't blame this mess on punk rock!!!
Get Sid Sings instead. They did a bit of a cut and paste job with the set list running order but it's a far superior package.

- Nice package ! Great sound quality ! I love the extended version of War Child and the spanish version of Call Me. For the rest I own everything from Blondie already on their remastered original albums and their Greatest Hits albums. What I really do miss here are the US singles : The Hardest Part and One Way Or Another and their dutch hitsingle: I'm Gonna Love You Too !! Otherwise I would have rated it with 5 stars!!! Because of the great original single package and the magnificent sound quality... If you're a Blondie fan : BUY IT
- One of the most ultimate Blondie collections to own.
Sound- 5 out of 5 Picth perfect sounds! You can here everything!!! ORIGINAL ARTWORKDISK 1: "Rip Her To Shreds" (From the album "Blondie") "In The Flesh" (From the album "Blondie") "X Offender" (From the album "Blondie") Three great songs from the debut album. This is when Blondie had first started out-not a bad start! DISK 2: "Denis" (From the album "Plastic Letters") "Contact In Red Square (From "Plastic Letters") "Kung Fu Girls" (From the album "Blondie") "Denis has its great French, "Contact In Red Square" has a James Bond mood to it, and "Kung Fu Girls" is a kick-butt song!!! DISK 3: "(I'm Always Touched By) Your Presence Dear" (From the album "Plastic Letters") "Poets Problem" (Bonus Track from "Plastic Letters") "Detroit 442" (From the album "Plastic Letters") "Detroit 442 is a great rockin' song, "Poets Problem" and "(I,m Always Touched By) Your Presence Dear" are beautifully done. DISK 4: "Picture This" (From "Parallel Lines") "Fade Away And Radiate" (From "Parallel Lines") Both are well done songs and will always be! DISK 5: "Hanging On The Telephone" (From "Parallel Lines") "Will Anything Happen" (From "Parallel Lines") Blondie can't do a bad song!!! There all great! DISK 6: "Heart Of Glass (7" Version) "Rifle Range" (From the album "Blondie") "Heart Of Glass (12" Version) (From "Parallel Lines") "Heart Of Glass (Instumental) The 7" version of "Heart Of Glass" is only (4:11 sec) while the 12" is the original from "Parallel Lines" and is (5:50). "Rifle Range" is another classic! "Heart Of Glass" (Instrumental) is o.k., but I usually stay away from the instumental versions. DISK 7: "Sunday Girl" (English Version) (From "Parallel Lines") "I Know But I Don't Know" (From "Parallel Lines") "Sunday Girl" (French Version) (From "Parallel Lines") Both "Sunday Girl" (English) and "Sunday Girl" (French) are great. I prefer the French version! It sort of puts a little more class into it. Disk 8: "Dreaming" (From the album "Eat To The Beat") "Sound Asleep" (From the album "Eat To The Beat") "Eat To The Beat" is the album with a little more "POP" music to it then the others. In my opinion. DISK 9: "Union City Blue" (From "Eat To The Beat") "Living In The Real World" (From "Eat To The Beat") "Union City Blue" is a classic! DISK 10: "Atomic" (From the album "Eat To The Beat") "Die Young Stay Pretty" (From "Eat To The Beat") "Heroes" (LIVE) "Atomic" is one of those "New Wave" songs! Disk 11: "Call Me" (3:32 sec version) "Call Me" (Instumental) "Call Me" (12" Version) "Call Me (Spanish Version) "Call Me (12" Instrumental) "Call Me" is the theme from "American Gigolo" a great movie I might add! "Call Me" the 12" version is even better!!! DISK 12: "The Tide Is High" (From the album "Autoamerican") "Suzie and Jeffrey Two Great Classics!!! DISK 13: "Rapture" (From the album "Autoamerican") "Walk Like Me" (From the album "Autoamerican") "Rapture" (Disco Mix) "Live It Up" (Disco Mix) Blondie does "Rap"! One of the finest CDS in the collection!!! Disk 14: "Island Of Lost Souls" (From the album "The Hunter") "Dragonfly" (From the album "The Hunter") 1982 was when "The Hunter" was released. Blondie was struggling, but still managed to release some great songs!!! Disk 15: "War Child" (From the album "The Hunter") "Little Caesar" (From the album "The Hunter") "War Child (Extended Version) "War Child" is one of the greatest songs from "The Hunter"!!! The extended version is even better! There you have it!!! A Blondie fan's dream!!! Enjoy!!!
- This is the latest in a line of record labels releasing singles box sets -like The Beatles,The Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran. Now comes the box set of singles from America's best band Blondie. This is a 15 cd set that includes every UK 45 and 12" release from the Chrysalis label. I have every single one of these 45 and 12"s on vinyl so it was great to own them on cd for the first time. The covers are the selling point for me. What can you say about seeing Debbie Harry on the cover of a single or album cover that brings back great fond memories. The set up for the single label is not the UK Chrysalis label but the 45 Chrysalis label from the German releases- the blue and black labels. I have collected over 100 Blondie singles from different countries: Japan's labels were green, the UK and US were the sky blue with the butterfly logo- so it is great to see the label go into a lot of detail. The greatest label though is set for the "Heart Of Glass" cd single. It is the label for the US 12" release from 1979 with Debbie on the label in the white dress that was on the over of Parallel Lines. To be nine years old again- this was the first 12" record I ever bought and it was a classic to start with. The rarest release on the entire set is the "Call Me" release- it features for the first time anywhere on cd the full 6 minute 12" and instrumental mixes. The US Spanish release was put out on the disco label Salsoul and in the UK the cover of the single was pink- US was white. "Call Me" in Spanish is very very rare and that makes this worth the entire price of the set. Also on the "Rapture" single the Full 8 minute (it says 4 but really is over 8 minutes long) 12" mix for the b-side of the 12" for "Live It Up". "Live It Up" was featured on the out of print 1994 UK cd pressing of Autoamerican and was not put on the reissue in 2001. Very very rare indeed- most don't even know it is even out to begin with. Listen to the break down in the middle of the song---the street sounds and whistles added are great.
What more can I say about this box set that hasn't been said before- just one more thing: if you are a Blondie freak like me then this is a must own because most of the songs are on the double cd set The Platinum Collection or Blonde and Beyond but it is the covers that make this a collectors item. Buy and listen and look at one of the best bands ever in rock and roll. A+(...)
- Oh the memories when Blondie ruled the U.K. All the singles are here from 1977 to 1982, in this box set all the singles are released with there original art work as single cd's with there Orginal B sides remember them? including the ones used on the 12" vinyl singles i.e Heroes on the Atomic single. I still remember as if it were yesterday trying to get the singles with all the different B sides and now here they are neatly packaged in one box. you could I suppose go out and by the greatest hits cd's for the Well Known tracks, but then you'd miss out on some classic Blondie tracks that didn't make it to the original albums, Poets Problems & Susie and Jeffrey to name two. All I can say is well done to whoever thought of releasing this, but why did it take so long? Enjoy PeterX
- This is the most wonderful thing to be released on CD since Blondie's long awaited come back Top 20 1999 CD "No Exit" . Singles Box is basically every 12" U.K. record that was released from 1976 -1982 . You get all Blondie's singles from "X Offender" to "War Child" plus bonus LIVE material , unreleased songs and so much more . This is all on 15 CD's all with original art work and all digitally remastered .This box set would make a great gift for any Debbie Harry and Blondie fan out there and would also be great if you do not yet have any Blondie CD's and want to get a collection started from the world's greatest band to ever put out music . Singles Box is nothing but pure power pop Blondie with all of their platinum plus hits and so much more . Buy ! Buy ! Buy ! you will be glad that you did =-)

1 comments about Stiff Singles 1976-77.
- This cool box collects the Damned's 5 singles released on the stiff label. The first 2 singles are off the superb debut Damned Damned Damned and the final 3 are from the underrated follow up Music for Pleasure (C'mon now it did have a have a few good gems tucked away there) New Rose is noted for having been the first single released by a British punk band.
Disc 1
New Rose
Help (Beatles cover)
Disc 2
Neat Neat Neat
Stab your back
Singalong Scabies (instrumental version of stab your back)
Disc 3
Problem Child
You take my money
Disc 4
Don't cry wolf
One way love (great slide guitar intro)
Disc 5
Strecher case baby
Sick of being sick
Strecher case baby was originally a freebie given way at shows to celebrate the band's first anniversary. Also the Strecher case baby single has a cool cover it looks like a skull from far away but up close its a woman sitting in front of a mirror (Def Leppard used the same type of cover on the retro active album). This was available on a single disc compilation called Skip off school to see the damned in 1992 on the Demon record label. Each single also has its cover faithfully reproduced as well.
