  1. About a year ago I picked up DecembeRadio's self-titled album,DecembeRadio (Expanded Edition), and was impressed. I had originally bought the album for the song "Drifter" (as did many others) and was pleasantly surprised that the band well known for this mellow, southern rock hit produced an album containing mostly harder rock songs. It was above fantastic for a freshman effort (yes, I am aware of the earlier independent releases which I am not counting).

This year's release, however, has blown me away! The band has shown great maturity by including songs that fit the whole range of their "southern rock" genre. Soft ballads such as "Love Can" and the hit single "Find You Waiting" are balanced with power anthems like "Believer" and "Powerful Thing" as well as the intense "Gasoline."

Through varied lyrical styles and a vast depth of emotion, the boys of DecembeRadio express their faith, love, and devotion to Christ in every song and wrap it all up with a classic jam session like the one at the end of their self-titled album.

  1. A collection to be treasured. Very well done instrumentally and vocally. I recommend this very highly for general listening, meditation, therapy, and healing.

  2. This CD is easy to listen to, inspirational and feels like "home". I like having snippets of the hymns rather than hearing all verses of each hymn. I have ordered two more to give as gifts. Try it, you'll like it.

  3. I enjoy this music very much. It reminds me of when I was a child. It relaxes me and makes me feel good. I would recomend this to anyone looking for memories.

  4. The choral vocals and the orchestrated music make this feel a bit like listening to traditional Christmas music in addition to the very splendid music that I enjoy in church. Really, it's hard not to be pleased with this CD, and I would have to work to come up with a reason not to purchase it if you're even reomotely interested in it. Nahhhh...instead, I think I'll listen to it again.
    ~ Jonathan

  5. We looked long and hard before settling on this cd for my in-laws. We wanted traditional, "older" hymns that they would know and this is very nice music that we enjoyed listening too also. It's hard to find just the right cd with all the ones out there, but this has a lot of hymns that are mostly old favorites and they are nicely done. Came quickly, well packed and with Amazon's great service! We recommend it!

5 comments about God's Property From Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation.

  1. I heard "Stomp" while I was waiting in line at Macys and had to have it. I had no idea who sang it but with some on line searching was able to find Kirk Franklin. Bought the CD and absolutely love it! I've been a Kirk Franklin fan ever since.

  2. My first song from Kirk Franklin was Stomp from a CD containing the best Christian music. At that point, I knew I had to get more of his music and I obtained at least 6 other CDs by him. This CD has both extremely happy music and extremely sad music. But, it is very supportive of anybody willing to listen closely to the lyrics and excellent music overall.
I have played this many many times in my car and at work.

  3. I remember when this album first came out. and everyone was loving it. when my cousins and i first got our lisence`s in 97 and our parents would let us use their cars , we are from Philly and my cousins and i would do the "intersection Dance" meaning that everytime we would get to a stop light or a stop sign we would put the car in park jump out of the car and start jamming.(yes i am using old school slang(smile) but when this album came out we would turn it up and start doing the "intersection dance" and everyone who was near the car would see us dancing and start to join in. we did`nt care, u could be tall, skinny, big bone, homeless, we just didn`t care. but this is a good album. i can`t believe that it has been 10 YEARS! when it first came out. but you will truly be blessed with this album.

  4. I listened to this while painting my kitchen and it kept me going. The energy of the songs and the message were sanity savers.

  5. I already had heard some of this cd from a friend, so I couldn't wait to get it.. It is the bomb... get it people it will work you out...

  1. I love this cd. Love forever Shines is better than I hhad hope for. I had bought it for one song and now there is a few songs I truly like. thank you Amazon for your service. You are the best

  2. I have enjoyed listening to this CD. Although there are a few songs I dislike, the majority are good. I purchased a used CD and I am glad I did. I do not feel this CD is good enough to have paid full price.

  3. even though I consider Regina as one of the greatest female vocalist
singers , this new style of Gospel is not for her, She is more like
soul-love music. I hope she can do something like before, but still
    this album is excellent.

  4. In the late eighties every "Quiet Storm" DJ on the planet was playing "Baby Come to Me," the bellowing slow jam by Regina Belle that seemingly seduced the charts overnight. Into the nineties, Belle manufactured numerous hit love songs -- "Is This Love?," "Make It Like It Was," "Show Me the Way," and "All I Want Is Forever" (with JT Taylor of Kool & The Gang) -- all well written and colored by her feminine tenor tones. Whether in a duet or alone, Regina was the embodiment of soulful grown folks music and one of the most recognizable and celebrated R&B vocalists of that period.
When well-known artists record an album in a genre different from the one for which they're known, it can often feel a bit forced. But for Jazz/Soul vocalist Regina Belle, a pastor's wife who has long been an outspoken believer, the move seems so obvious that it begs the question, Why didn't she take this leap of faith before?
"God says the time is right", says Regina. "He's transitioning me to do a work for him. It was opportune".
The new offering by the acclaimed songstress is a triumphant homage to God's faithfulness through it all, a testament to how His goodness and mercy followed the vocalist all the days of her life, from the cradle all the way through her decorated music career. Most importantly, the album is a tribute to the singer's gospel music heritage--14 songs that speak to the bedrock of Regina Belle's faith, never more evident in the disc's stunning centerpiece, the stirring traditional first single, "God Is Good"
Her contemporary and good friend Shirley Murdock who has walked a parallel path personally and professionally (both were leading ladies in R&B and are now first ladies in their husbands' churches), appears on the album in a duet entitled "I Call on Jesus".
Award-winning Gospel artist, Melvin Williams (Williams Brothers) duets with Regina on the song, "Good To Be Loved" as well Williams' vocals can be heard accompanying her on background on the first single, "God Is Good".
This album will undoubtedly build on Regina's success to date. Her voice embodies so much: wistful yearning, romanticism, sadness, joy and more.
Regina Belle, a noted songwriter in her own right, penned many of the songs featured on the project, while working alongside Chris Walker who produced and co-produced all but two songs on the CD. Musical talent seemingly runs in the family as her brother Bernard Belle, a well-known music industry songwriter, wrote, produced and arranged two of the album's tracks.
The tracks she wrote demonstrate her own writing ability, while her interpretations are fresh and personal.
There is very much the sense of Regina singing these absolutely as she wants, meandering and taking her time over the lyrics in a luxurious fashion.
That's the way I like it though, an artist who can effortlessly evoke feeling no matter what style she embarks on, and while her music all has her signature touch her albums never, and I mean never, falls into the rut of redundancy.
David (Letterman), Jay (Leno), Ellen (DeGeneres), and Oprah (Winfrey) : please, take note of this !

  5. If you love African American inspired gospel music, or even if you don't- this CD will knock your socks off, raise your spirits, and bring tears to your eyes. Words from the heart and divine, absolutely divine music.

5 comments about Over and Underneath.

  1. This is a beautiful CD, I went right ahead and bought more than one copy for my family. If you have a heart that yearns for God, you'll get so much out of worshipping with this CD. There's nothing cliche here, just simple, beautiful songs about suffering and talking to God about it. Lovely

  2. Received the cd in perfect condition as described and very quickly. Highly recommend seller. Great Job! Thanks Again for a Great Shopping Experience!

  3. About a year ago - before they hit the "big time" - Tenth Avenue North led worship at my church. It was amazing. They all have such a heart for God, and, to tell you the truth, it was the first time I've seen my whole church worshipping together wholeheartedly. They have such an anointing to lead people into the presence of God.

So I was quick to grab their latest CD - and I was not disappointed. They glorify God with every song. And they make it exciting. Their music has some grit to it, some edge. I have used their CD in my personal worship time. It helps me draw in to the presence of God - with style!

  4. My husband wanted this cd to take on our beach trip. I already knew I loved the song "Hallelujah for the blood of the lamb". The rest of the cd was a "slow grow" on me, but now I love it. The lyrics are great.

  5. I am very passionate about music, especially Christian music, since I think worshiping God through song is one of the best ways to get through to him spiritually. It actually lets the Holy Spirit shine through me. Tenth Avenue North, who seem to have come out of nowhere, have done this for me. I was overwhelmed with Over and Underneath. I had heard the track "Love is Here" on the radio and immediately fell in love with it. The same can be said with the rest of the album as well. My favorite songs would be the aforementioned "Love is Here", "By Your Side", the gorgeous "Beloved", and my personal favorite, "Hallelujah". Give these young men a try. You will be blessed. I was and am.
    Peace and Love,
    Jake

  1. This album is about life and love. The music is great. The vocals, well Nicole does what Nicole does. I really enjoyed this album. Look Like Me and Brainwash will get you up and moving or just get you through your drive. Feel Like I'm in Love, Treat Her Like a Lady, and Start Over Again are about the relationship between husband and wife and/or man and woman. Yo Mama is about someone who takes interest in a child that no one else does. Take a listen. You will enjoy.

5 comments about The Shadow of Your Wings: Hymns and Sacred Songs.

  1. "Grace and Peace" and "All Flesh Is Like the Grass" are two of my favorite Christian pop tunes. I might get a little tired sometimes of the olde English thees and thous (he sings a good number of the old hymns), but Ortega's combination of mellow piano and smooth voice are really good.

  2. This CD is my absolute favorite of all of Fernando's work. It is infused with God's presence and peace. As I went through a year of watching my son undergo cancer treatment, this CD was my constant companion. Truly worshipful.

  3. I just received this for my birthday today. I listened to it on the way to church and at first listen wasn't too excited, but at second listen I fell in love with it. I belong to a very litugical church and this album makes me feel like I am in church. It is a very singable album.
    I love it!

  4. Grace and peace to you from God our Father. A loving reminder of God's compassion. Most of the songs are reflective and meditative, a few are not and disrupt the flow . . . but otherwise a great album. So 4 instead of 5 stars. Still very much worth it if you're a Fernando Ortega fan (or even if you're not). If you like loud Contemporary Christian rock music, don't get this, you'll be disappointed. If you like intelligent lyrics, music that draws you to God, and sets a peaceful mood, you'll be pleased.

  5. Listening to this album early in the morning helps my entire family have a worshipful attitude throughout the day. We love the mixture of scripture songs and classic hymns. God's Word is powerful, especially when put to music!

5 comments about Bless the Broken Road: The Duets Album.

  1. This CD is such a blessing. The voices are phenominal. But the messages are powerful. Really gives you something to think about. The first song is especially meaningful to me ... I have walked the broken road and God has truly blessed me despite it, because of it. God is so good and this CD is truly an expression of the rewards He has waiting for us !!!

  2. This album is so good, my brothers, sister and parents want one! Every song is thoughtful and inspiring.

  3. The nature of this CD is variety, so most of us will probably like some songs but not others. I wasn't crazy about the title track--can't really say anything bad about it, but not my style. As for the rest:

Gentle Healer: I love this song. I'm a huge Michael Card fan and this remake is a beautiful tribute to the original.

Glory: AWESOME, probably my favorite song on the CD. I can't listen to this song without raising my hands to the heavens. Nichole Nordeman has outdone herself.

I Will Sing of My Redeemer: I like it, but promptly forget about it when it's over.

Follow Jesus: Same as above. I can't really hear the lyrics half the time because of the way it was produced. Fun to listen to but I don't get much out of it.

Mary Sweet Mary: I expected to love this song because I'm a Plum fan, and I love Christmas music. But I'm not crazy about putting all the focus on Mary. It was just okay, in my opinion.

All My Tears and Ain't No Grave: I LOVE these songs! I want them played at my funeral, and I'll be looking down from above to see everybody dance!

Be Thou Near to Me: Very nice.

Faithful One: Beautiful. Speaks to me of faithfulness that endures not only for a lifetime, but throughout the ages.

Sweet Jesus: Beautiful and intimate worship.

Softly and Tenderly: Only these two could perform this song in a way that's so intensely earnest without being manipulative. I've heard (and sung) this song a million times but never heard it like this--great job.

  4. This was my first introduction to Selah, and I am so-o-o happy I purchased this CD! Very poignant lyrics and beautiful music. My favorites are Gentle Healer and Glory, but really the whole CD is just wonderful. You won't be disappointed.

  5. I will probably always be one to recommend a Selah album, because I grew up in a church visited yearly by Nicol and Todd's parents, Congo missionaries Jim and Nancy Smith and used to hear the whole family sing way back when (in fact, I think my parents have an old record of hymns the family put out years ago!). That being said, this album is amazing! I've been listening to it over and over the last couple of weeks, hearing new layers every time. I love beautifully written lyrics - the mix of these classics with the voices of the Selah members and their duet partners is matchless.

At first listen, "Bless the Broken Road" stood out as my favorite, but then I listened more closely to "All My Tears," which I'd surprisingly never heard before. Now it stands out as my favorite on the album, esp. with Kim Hill's folksy sound, and one of my favorite songs ever.

Completely a stand-out album - so much depth and breadth.

Oh - and for those that didn't know, Nicol stepped out to raise her family and support her husband at Moody Bible Institute's grad school. She's worked some on solo stuff, too.

5 comments about At San Quentin.

  1. Johnny Cash is undoubtedly as essential to American music as Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and Hank Williams. His contributions are admired by both country aficionados and rockers alike. On none of his releases is the reason why as apparent as with his "Live At San Quentin" release.

Here, we're treated to rousing renditions of early Cash classics "Big River," "I Still Miss Somone," and "I Walk The Line" alongside revamped versions of "Folsom Prison Blues," "Ring Of Fire," and "Wreck Of The Old 97." Needless to say, the addition of Carl Perkins to the list of backing musicians has a great deal to do with the musical quality of this show! However, the musical highlights don't stop there:

At San Quentin, Cash introduces new numbers / soon to be hits such as "A Boy Named Sue" and "Jackson," as well as the biting "San Quentin" and "Starkville City Jail." On the double-disc boxed set, Cash also welcomes upcoming act The Statler Brothers and bluegrass favorites The Carter Family (now consisting of Mother Maybelle and her daughters). No longer limited to merely country or gospel numbers, modern era folk and rock covers include the eclectic and often-covered "Break My Mind," the Lovin' Spoonful's "Darlin' Companion," Tom Paxton's "The Last Thing On My Mind," and Carl Perkins' classic "Blue Suede Shoes" (performed by the master himself)!

Cash's passing would leave an empty space in American music, but the legacy of recordings he left behind and the artists he inspired (and continues to inspire) will deservedly live on as a true American treasure.

  2. Everyone knows Johnny Cash is a legend, and this album shows why that is the case. Not only does it showcase his talent, but it gives you a glimpse of the person as well. Vintage Cash and worth every penny!

  3. My husband loves this CD, but I have a hard time listening to the foul language and gospel music!

  4. Great music from a classic singer. Now part of my collection of Johnny Cash items. Price was very low when ordered with other Amazon items.

  5. My teenage son was so flipped out about getting this in the mail..We have listened to it everyday since..
In great condition and fast service.. I would definately purchase from this seller again
