  1. Great condition and packaged well, received in a very short period of time, excellent service, loved the cd.

  2. I reached into my glove compartment a few weeks ago and came up with Iris Dement's "My Life" tape. I had gotten it about a dozen years earlier and had played it over and over until I had finally had enough. When I played it again,it sounded so good that I went to Amazon to see what else she had out. I wanted her latest album because I wanted to hear how her voice had matured. It's all Gospel music so I was a bit wary since I don't particularly like it. I listened to a few excerpts and bought it. Like "My Life", I have played it over and over again. Her voice has gotten even better, much better. And the Gospel songs are very county/western in style. I found some of the lyrics on "My Life" to be a bit mawkish and self conscious. There's none of that on this album. Most of the songs are traditional Gospel songs. The subject matter is much bigger than discontents of an Idaho wife. With the voice, the musical style, and the subject matter, you can't go wrong!

  3. We think it is a great C.D. and we have come to expect to be happy with Iris's music,we realy enjoyed the song that she wrote.

  4. I love Iris DeMent, but in this album, perhaps because she felt it was the best vocal style for gospel, Iris uses a voice that is too forced. She comes across sounding hollow, with a put-on voice that someone would use when trying to sound down home. I would sing this way if I were doing a poor caricature of gospel folk singers. Since Iris already has a pure voice perfect for her music, she really shouldn't have gone this unnecessary step.

After two songs, I nearly said out loud, "Stop it, Iris."

  5. I sent this to my sister during the last days of her fight against breast cancer. She had mentioned how old time hymns "The ones you know the words to" brought her a lot of comfort.
Iris Dement outdid herself on this one. She left the music scene for awhile and I have missed her music. Maybe a little more upbeat next time out Iris.

  1. This is a wonderful collection of Christian songs. Even though the singer is no longer with us, his music lives on forever.

  2. I have almost every album that Rich Mullins released, so I already had all of these songs available to me on CD. I bought this album specifically to leave in my car, so that I could listen to my favorites whenever I want to. If you haven't been introduced to Rich Mullins yet, and wonder what the fuss has been about, this is a good first album to own. Rich had incredible insight into what the Christian life is about, and what Heaven might be like. What in incredible musician/songwriter he was, and how God must be enjoying the music he's making in Heaven.

  3. Out of all Christian music that is out there today, I believe that Rich Mullins is one of the best. Yes there are great bands out there like Jars Of Clay and Casting Crowns, but Rich Mullins is different for me. His music is intimate, his music is spirited. Though he has passed away, I feel that God continues to use this man's music in order to bring people to Him through Jesus Christ. Listening to such songs as Creed, Sometimes By Step, and We Are Not As Strong As We Think We Are, I am constantly amazed by how drawn I am to my God and my King of Kings. I hope that many people will come to listen to CDs like this and have their lives transformed just as much as this man has transformed my life in my spiritual growth.

  1. "Me And Jesus" is the best track on the album, with great lyrics, and the passion behind the song. Bad thing is the rest of the album falls into it's own formula, and one that you tire of VERY fast. Stop after five tracks, you've heard the basic sound. Creatively is badly needed on this album, change up the formula. The next album should be a complete departure from their first two albums, do hard rock, or no rock. Do something different. This isn't a sophomore slump, because their first album wasn't much better.

  2. Stellar Kart has produced yet another good cd.
This is a great cd to add to the casual music lovers collection.

It has some very catchy tunes and it has good lyrics with a postive message.
If you listen to it to much it will wear itself out though.

Activate, Me and Jesus, Always Waiting, and I Wanna Live are my favorite tracks.

Buy this cd-it has been a great addition to my collection.

  3. I was VERY surprised when I first heard this album. When I bought it, at first I had thought I had wasted my money on something that wasn't any good. Usually I don't buy a CD until I've heard more than two songs off the CD ("Me And Jesus" and "Hold On", both of which I first heard on the radio), but I bought it, anyway. And today, I HAVE NO REGRETS AT ALL! Every song is catchy, especially the songs mentioned above. This has turned out to be one of the best groups I have, along with Avalon. LOVED IT, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!:)

  4. Five stars, yes, and nothing totally mind-blowing or exceptional on the disc. Seriously, this is just a good listen from start to finish, with no dull moments and plenty of tunes that get into your head and hum along with them. It rocks at times, goes to some ballads, then rocks out some more, with a real pop-punk vibe, although more pop than punk, still rocks harder than groups like Relient K and Motion City Soundtrack. Slightly similar to EleventySeven's CD. There are a lot of songs on this CD, which makes it a better purchase than "All Gas No Brake" due to the amount of music you get for your money. There is never a dull moment, and these guys don't re-invent the wheel or anything but heck, with energy like this, they have done just fine. REAL POSITIVE MUSIC, great message. Imagine a poppy version of Allister's "Last Stop Suburbia" and that's what you have here.

  5. Stellar Kart is a great band. Their style is awesome. The band members themselves are funny and personable. Their music is great, and I love how they wear their faith. I'm so disappointed with many bands such as Relient K and Hawk Nelson, although they're very similar, they do not praise our creator! I even heard somewhere that one of them said that using God's name is tacky! I'm always proud to support a band that boldly expresses their faith. Unfortunately, Hawk Nelson is one of those bands that you have to sift through all the other stuff to find God, and Relient K is a "crossover" band. Stellar Kart keeps their music directed towards God, in their own funky and fun style.

My favorites on this CD are Activate, Me and Jesus, I'm Pretty Good, and Procrastinating. I love this CD, and I know you will too.

  1. This DVD was for my mother and she watches it a lot so I guess she is happy so I am happy

  2. I absolutely loved this dvd of the Gaither get together. How can you not love a wonderful Christian gathering. I wish that I had been there to share in the joy of the moment, absolutely wonderful. For those who critize this, get over the fact that the old timers are gone, we cannot bring them back. Move on, obviously they have moved on to today and now this broadcast has some excellent footage of all the wonderful artists of our day. Sure the old timers are gone but what is today and now is we can share with the fact that the so called new comers are here to stay..

  3. Bill Gaither continues to milk the Southern Gospel music cow, but the milk is getting thin and New Age Christian. No more Jake Hess, Happy Goodmans, Hovie Lister or George Younce.

  4. Most of the old timers are gone, but Mary Tom Speer and Eva May both sing in this one. There are some super performances from a lot of your favorites and a few surprises as well. Who would have thought to pair the Easters with Ben Speer... but it's great! It's not a favorite, but it has some wonderful moments in it.

  5. I enjoyed this DVD, as I do all the Gaither music DVDs. It wasn't the best they have done, but it was well worth the price.

  1. This CD is one of my favorites to listen to when I feel the need to be closer to the Spirit. Mack Wilberg is a master at transforming old hymns into glorious arrangements. I have had experience with high school students who love singing his arrangements even within the context of a world that seems in a state of constant conflict. THIS CD IS FABULOUS!

  2. This CD is a must have for any Mormon Tabernacle Choir fans. The music is very reverent and gentle, and should also appeal to those not from the LDS church, seeing as how most of the music is common to the wider Christian community. This CD is a fantastic addition to any music collection.

  3. It Is Well With My Soul is one of my favorite-favorites and that is the main reason why I bought the CD; it turned out to be a huge let down on this album, they rearranged it so much that I almost didn't recognize it. Be Still My Soul is another reason why I bought it and it's good, but not great. Swing Low Sweet Chariot is where it starts to get good. The last two songs "Thou Gracious God, Whose Mercy Lends"
and "Come, Let Us Anew" are very good reasons to buy this CD, they each have truely powerful passages and make the CD worth having. The Mormon Tabernacle Choirs 2006 release entitled Then Sings My Soul is by far the best that I've heard from them.

  4. However, the rating scale has a limit of five. I own over 700 CDs of virtually every type of music. Peace Like A River belongs in a class by itself! I've never written a review before but, after listening to this STUNNING performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, I feel compelled to share my praise with that of the five other reviewers. If I were limited to one word, I would use the word "SUPERB" to describe this beautiful and moving CD. SIX stars for Peace Like a River! BRAVO!!!

  5. This album is all beauty and solace. The singing is pristine, the arrangements lush and often stirring--never saccharine. As with the previous reviewer, my first listing of "Peace Like a River" brought me to tears (especially "Peace Like a River," the sopranos in "Swing Low," and the bagpipes in "Thou Gracious God"). Buy this one.

  1. Harvey it is once again you allow the Lord to use you in making another warm-heartened, life changing, spirit-liftening album. I hope God will continue to shower you with many-more blessings in the years to come.
    Rest in peace Wallace Strickland!

  2. This is the Canton's best project in my most humble opinion! This cd gets played everyday in the car. Do I like quartets? You betcha! The only downside to this is that it isn't a video! This was money well spent and I love just about every song on it. My favorite is "That Man". Theres something for everyone; a little blues, country, classic soul. Folks "Drive" yourself to the nearest outlet and pick up this cd better yet, order it from Amazon.com!

  3. I love the song I recommend Jesus. I am not a big fan of quartet music but I really like the drive of this group. The entire cd is really uplifting.

  4. This is a wonderful CD especially if you love the Canton Spirituals in the past you will love this one also. This is the same great group as always with a new style of singing with different ministers and new singers. I think Harvey and the rest of the Canton Spirituals did a wonderful job again. I know that everyone is proud of him especially his mother and father. I purchase this for my father put I enjoyed it myself and I know you will love it also. I think this a CD that can be enjoyed by most ages.

  5. I am a Canton Spirituals fan and I can say that this is their best work yet. Their smooth silky harmonies and vocal arrangements coupled with Harvey's leads makes this an incredible project. It was listening to this project that I was made aware of Wallace Strickland's death. Also their signature R&B flavored harmonies including the vocals of Victor Allen make this project a must have for any Canton Spirituals Fan. It is obvious that this project is annointed and is the result of much prayer and hard work....luv it and can't wait for the DVD !

  1. Absolutely excellent music/can't stop playing
Feel the power of God in the words of the songs

  2. Knowing that this chior is made up of people who love God, many of whom were miraculously delivered from lives of ruin, gives meaningful context to the music on this cd. I belive it is truly anointed by God. "I know that I can make it," being sung by forgiven, God loving, clean living former drug addicts and alcoholics blesses me every time I hear it!

  3. I love them, get them all! You will love them too. They have many Cd's out and I highly recommend and own most of them.

  4. How could I ever expect anything other than to be greatly blessed by this amazing choir! The CD is beautiful, inspiring and worshipful, and like most music from Brooklyn Tabernacle, makes my cry! As a professional musician, I alway appreciate their great arrangments as well as the soloists. Get this. You will be blessed and you will BE GLAD!

  5. It's the best CD that I've bought since I can't remember when. It is really good!!! It makes great music for the car. My favorite songs are "Be Glad" and "This is How it Feel to Be Free". WOW! Also, "My Life is in Your Hands" really spoke straight to my heart. I wouldn't think twice about buying this tape....It's definently a must-have!

  1. this is a great CD! I love every song on here. I am new to Christian music, but i heard their song "How Many Kings" on the radio and fell in love with this group! bought this CD and i love every song on here! this is a great buy and a great group! i would buy this CD again and for my friends.

  2. WOW!! Wide-Eyed and Mystified, the 3rd studio album by Canada's Downhere (my favorite band) and 1st with Centricity Records is literally Unbelievable in its greatness. Jars of Clay got me into Christian music and is still the standard for me, however I first saw Downhere in 2001 and I was blown away. Larger Than Life, Great Are You and Protest To Praise from the debut album made Downhere my favorite band, slightly ahead of Jars of Clay. Great for fans of Sanctus Real and Leeland as well.

This album starts rocking with The More, based on 2 Peter 1:5-8 and is an amazing reminder of how to grow in our walk with Jesus. Surrender keeps the Marc Martel/Jason Germain co-lead vocals and amazing harmonizing going. Then, my all-time favorite Downhere song A Better Way brings me to tears as I praise Jesus for His sacrifice. The album continues to amaze with Little Is Much,Stir and The Real Jesus-a stirring depiction of cultural references, which are all among the best songs by this underrated band. You can't go wrong with Downhere.

  3. This album is so fresh and full of life. The lyrics are amazing and original, and the lead singer's voice is out of this world, singing high never sounded so good. It is a must buy in my opinion!!

  4. For a relatively little-known band from Canada, Downhere really packs some punch with their album Wide-Eyed and Mystified. I must confess I did not expect much from this album when I first heard of it. Almost instantly, I was pleasantly surprised by Marc Martel's soaring vocals, the intense instrumentation and the overall passion of the band. If Downhere continues in this vein, they should become a favorite in Christian music in no time.

  5. 'Wide-Eyed And Mystified' is an album with a great sound and even better lyrics.

I had only heard two songs prior to buying the album. I really liked both of them, but considered just getting those two on ITunes and skipping the rest. I'm very glad that I decided to get the album.

The two songs that I had heard before, 'The More' and 'A Better Way', are excellent, but so are several others on this CD. I could name a couple of other great songs here, but I would be doing the reader a disservice. All of these should be heard.

This is an album that has grown on me the more that I've listened to it. Several of the songs are very catchy and you might just find yourself replaying these in your head. Highly recommended.

  1. it came on time and it was the best thing i ever gpt from Amazon

  2. I loved the Soweto Gospel Choir when I saw them on TV and decided to order the CD. As a professor in a community college, I start my 3-hour classes with music, play music during breaks, and occassionally during various activities. I try to end the class with music, too. The student population is quite diverse; infact the students hail from approximately 30 countries of origin. Last week, to the students' complete enjoyment, I used this CD. Many of the students inquired where they could get it and wanted to see more than time permitted. (It is much more interesting than my lectures, I'm sure!) They, like me, enjoyed the vibrancy and beauty of the music, costumes, and dance.

  3. I love this dvd. The songs, the outfits, the joy they have on their faces as they give thanks to god.

  4. The songs were captivating! I have enjoyed what I have seen and heard thus far. My mother was visiting me and I had ordered the dvd for her, it was wonderful indeed!!

  5. I discovered the Soweto Gospel Choir quite by accident while I was searching for information on Josh Groban, and I decided to just give them a listen to see what they were like. And I am so glad I did! To say that I was impressed would be an understatement! They totally blew me away! I went to their website, listened to a couple of sound clips, and within just minutes I was so moved that I purchased all three of their albums and this DVD! I am definitely not disappointed! These people will rock your socks off! Buy this DVD today! You will not regret it!

I was moved to tears just watching it!
