  1. These guys are fresh and completely sold out for Jesus. I can't wait for their next offering!

  2. I will say this album rocks. If you like good music that is not too hard and not too soft then check it out. I double dog dare you as this will bless your socks off...Washed by teh Water is one of the hits off this album that is a smash hit along with a bunch of others. They have a great live performance that you should see. See it because it is a different concert. Especially when they do an accustic show after as an encore. It will blow your mind to watch these guys do what they do best: Play great music and worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

  3. Absolutely my new favorite. The music, the lyrics, their style ... I had only heard one song from this CD prior to making the purchase and it has been in my player since I received it. All tracks are very good. I highly recommend it regardless of your favorite type of music!

  4. What a talented group! I love this CD from beginning to end. This is one of those rare CD's wherein there is not a bad song. I recommend it to family and friends and often I just simply buy it for them. :-) No need to suggest...just give.

  5. Very solid album but certainly not as good their first which is OK considering that Daylight was certainly the best christian rock album of the decade so far and perhaps the best rock album period. The songs are stylistically more pop than rock on this one and more homogenous; their isn't quite the sonic variety on The Heat. Instrumentally, the rhythm section seems to be less active, but the keyboard work, while more prominant than I might have wanted, is really interesting. The first two tracks probably represnt the most variety and are the highlight of the album. Everything after that sounds pretty good, but after a few songs, you have to look down at the display to see how many different songs you've actually heard.

I heard someone give an interview recently talk about the sophomore slump by saying that it makes sense that 2nd albums aren't as good as debuts because bands spent their whole lives putting together their first album for a label and are then pressured by that label to put the second one out in eighteen months or less in the midst of near-constant touring to promote the first one. I think that accounts for the lack of variety, and maybe there's one other reason; more of these songs seem to be an effort to create a single rather than just a great song. Still, an album well worth a listening to.

  1. I just love this cd! i am new to Christian music and just started listening to it on the radio. i wanted to get some of my own and i know almost every song on this cd! this is a great CD and very inspirational! i find myself singing these songs while i am running down the road! very upbeat and wonderful! this was a great purchase!

  2. Awesome sound, awesome lyrics. And, if I'm correct it's their debut CD. Never gets old.

  3. I really like this Christian group. This is one of their first albums with some really good songs that have been around for a while.

  4. a new generational wave of music that brings the heart of worship to the forefront. Life is getting tougher and these songs speak to how we feel as God directs our life. How it is when He is number one despite who we are!

  5. I really enjoy Casting Crowns. They sing about real life circumstances and lean on the Lord while having a more modern-upbeat sound that kids and adults will enjoy (light rock'ish'). I put both of their cds right onto my ipod and have been listening to them ever since...

  1. The annointing upon this young lady's life shakes one's being to the core. Get ready to worship and praise. Nicole 'brings it' in this awesome cd. She is truly a blessing to the Body of Christ!

  2. Excellent album of contemporary Christian songs. Nicole has a wonderful voice and the songs she helped write are Superb. "Reedemer" and "Call on Jesus" are two of the best ever.

  3. This CD is great. If you like Christian music, you will love this CD. Nicole Mullen is a very gifted singer and song writer. Thank God for this very talented and beautiful young woman.

  4. I had recently seen Nicole C. Mullen in person and was quite impressed by her performance and energy. I loved the songs My Redeemer Lives and Black, Brown, and Tan. It's a worship experience listening to her and a good mix of upbeat and ballad.

  5. I just can't say enough about this CD. It is simply awesome. The selection is varied and all top notch.

  1. If you like Hillsong and worship songs, you must get this! this is must buy stuff!

  2. I really like Hillsong Music, and this CD is the best of them all. Listening to the songs just transforms the atmosphere to one of Worshiping God.

    Thanks.

  3. In this live release from Hillsong United, they introduce a unique concept in creating the cd from a conglomeration of concerts held around the world. From Australia to America, Brazil to Berlin, Scotland to South Korea, some of the best songs from this multi-talented group are melded in a seamless fashion so that it sounds many times like one consecutive concert. Worship leaders such as Joel Houston, Marty Sampson, Scott Ligertwood, Reuben Morgan, and Hillsong newcomer Brooke Fraser, among others lead in a variety of heart felt worship songs as well as straight up rock worship.

Since purchasing this album a few months ago I've listened to it a great deal on a weekly basis. Disc 1 and 2 have differing feels to them but both have great worship songs.

The album includes many popular songs such as "Mighty to Save," "From the Inside Out," "The Stand," as well as newer songs such as "You'll Come." A couple songs also incorporate a Spanish element such as "Fuego de Dios" and "Shout Unto God" which are very cool and provide a sense of worldwide worship.

I highly recommend the album; you will not be disappointed.

  4. This album is great because it shows how people around the world can all come together and worship God. No there are no new songs but that's not important

  5. I like the setting, with the crowd getting involve and stuff :) Overall, it's a nice compilation of praise songs. Only reason I don't give 5 starts simply because I would prefer a harder song nothing more... Get one!

  1. Loved every song on this CD! By far the best CD that has come from any American Idol contestant!

  2. Sorry to have to say it, but in my opinion this album ain't that great. I was excited to see Chris Sligh's music being sold on the Christian circuit but a little dissapointed in how safe it is played off as being a Christian album. If there are any Christian themes within the lyrics it's very subtle, but it's art and it's whatever you make out of it so thats not really a big deal. But then I was even more dissapointed with the music. American Idol fans might enjoy this record but I personally did not. To me it sounds like a cheesy pop parody of an American Idol soundtrack. It's like the main purpose of the album was to use as background music for the show. I have to wonder if some big shot producer just made the album and told Chris Sligh to sing it giving him no leeway whatsoever. With Sligh's image I was expecting either a punk influenced record or at least something hard rock. I was hoping Chris Sligh would be this big breakout artist who would be a refreshing depart from the mundane pop rock that is out there right now. But Running Back To You is none of those things. Instead, it sounds like an over-produced pop rip off of Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson. Some of the melodies are catchy but that is about it.

  3. I've been a Chris Sligh fan since his days on American Idol and was so excited to see his first professionally produced (by Brown Bannister, no less) solo album enter the arena.

The songs are wonderful (every single one!), and I catch myself singing them days after I've listened to the album. I think my favorite is "Empty Me," but I really love them all. And his voice! What can I say about his voice? It just gets me every time.

Some of the songs are favorites of mine that have been remixed from his first album with his band Half Past Forever and have been polished to the point of perfection. (To be honest, I really loved the roughness of the Half Past Forever album and would've been happy even if this album wasn't quite as smooth.)

I hope you will buy this album and I also hope you'll treat yourself to the album by Half Past Forever, which I'd give six stars if I could. The soaring ballad, In A Moment, while wonderful on his new solo album, just makes you want to weep in its original version.

    (review by Mrs. Scott)

  4. This is a good CD for traveling in the car. I'm kind of new to the jazzy thing but this is a good one. I always look for something that I can understand the words and this comes through good.

  5. Loved Chris when he was on Idol but his full "potential" was never revealed by the show. This CD is the real Chris Sligh! Keep going Chris. Put out more of this for us, loved it!!!

  1. I found this cd to be excellent. The music is great and the lyrics are deep and make you think. I really enjoyed this latest album by Kirk Franklin
and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Gospel music.

  2. What can I say? This album brings Kirk to top form again. Reminds me of the God's Property & Nu Nation Project albums, which contain some of my best songs ever. Excellent compilation. Get it!

  3. Very uplifting!!! Kirk Franklins' music has a way of getting into your soul, with bit of a hip-hop egde!!!

  4. In the first place, I like Kirk Franklin's music. So far this tops it off until his next album

  5. I love this CD! I usually buy Kirk Franklin for my 16 yr old nephew, but this time it is MINE! Kirk is truely anointed and very inspirational. He speaks to the young person in you and helps you to be able to heal old wombs. Awesome CD!

  1. I have played this CD over and over and it's an absolutely beautiful CD. The songs are beautiful and so touching. My favorite is Wagin War, Worthy and We Welcome You.

  2. Music from a timeless worshipper of God. Songs tender and heartfelt as always. You cannot go wrong with a Cece album ...

  3. I received this cd from my sister four months ago.I stuck it in my glove box and forgot all about it until recently when I peeled off the wrap and set it in.There is something that can be said about God and His perfect timing.Through this album,God really met me at my point of need and spoke to my heart at a time when I was really down in the dumps. This music is anointed and has really been an encouragement and a blessing. My tears were flowing from start to end.Earlier in the day I was thinking while on break at work; 'Lord, let me not get tossed around like waves in the ocean, getting lost pursuing things that are only temporary on this earth, and lose my focus on You.One day I will die,and I could not imagine spending eternity without you.' Sure enough, hearing Cece's finale later that day, 'Million Miles-(better is one day with You,than a million more,a million miles away')' confirmed my prayer and she is singing about just that!'Waging War'claims victory over the enemy in the battle for our hearts and minds. The music has really given me strength for the journey.Thank you Lord for giving us Cece!

  4. I love Ceecee Winans her cd is so powerful I love all her songs, but my favorite is mama kitchen and pray, raging war.If you don't have this cd please buy it you wont be disapointed.

  5. I've followed CeCe's gospel career many years. It's clear her voice is truely anointed by God. I love her spirit and her obedience. This CD is wonderful and helps me to stay on track with God. When you really take the time to listen and absorb the lyrics, you will come away from it blessed and empowered. Keep doing what you do CeCe. I pray God blesses you forever.

5 comments about How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites Live from the Grand Ole Opry.

  1. This is a wonderful compilation of gospel songs. They are definitely old favorites and I am so glad they were finally put together with some wonderful singers on one CD! Brings back a lot of memories for me.

  2. hymns by grand ole opry members, what better music could you asked for? All perfomrmances were fantasic, especially Dierks Bentley's

  3. I like most of this CD. As could be expected, since it's from the Grand Ole Opry, some of the songs lean toward bluegrass and some are a little more hardcore country. Vince Gill and Carrie Underwood are the standouts. I also recommend the How Great Thou Art CD by the Gaithers. Amazon accidentally sent that to me on my first order, but when I saw it, I decided to keep it and reorder this one. They are both worth having.

  4. I did not get to enjoy this as it was a gift for a friend but she
    liked it very much.

  5. Trace Adkins track is fantastic as always and the other male singers do well, however, the female singers didn't sound that great.

5 comments about Toddler Tunes.

  1. My son's face lights up when I play this CD in the car. I like the variety of songs and children's voices. I don't particularly like the children's CDs with adult voices because I think it sounds cheesy (unless its Julie Andrews- only exception). Needless to say, I am really glad I found this one.

  2. I got this CD for my daughter on her 1st birthday. She loves it. Although some songs were repeat from her other CD, it has different lyrics and helps me combine all the different versus when I sing back the song to my daughter. She listens to it daily on her way to day care and enjoys it everytime. I like the fact that all the songs are sung by kids.

  3. I looked a long time for a children's CD that had actual kids' voices, but was understandable and inexpensive. I have a almost 5 year old, 2 1/2 year old and a 7 month old. I mainly bought it for my 2 1/2 year old girl because she loves to sing. She obviously loves it and has fun trying to sing with all of the songs. What was surprising was that my almost 5 year old enjoyed it too. He has Aspergers (a form of autism) and often gets upset when I put new music on. I even found him singing along with a few songs. Quite a miracle for him! The most surprising thing though was that I enjoyed it too and found myself singing along. The songs brought back a lot of great memories when I was a kid and I even learned a few new songs. This is definitely a cheap way to keep your kids entertained without the TV. It was definitely worth the few dollars I paid for it.

  4. This CD has most of the typical toddler favorite songs so my 2 yo enjoys it. The price was right- and it makes her happy- but don't expect spectacular vocals- some of the kids are too young to sing in tune LOL. I don't really see the point of the second set of tracks though....

  5. My daughter is obsessed with this CD. It's so nice to hear a children's CD where the kids can actually sing and it's not irritating to listen to. We can't go anywhere in the car without a Cedarmont Kids CD. The song choices are great, and it's a wonderful change from CDs where either the kids simply yell/sing or adults pretend to sing like kids. Thank you!

  1. I loved this CD. Dailey and Vincent have great harmonies together and they are very talented.

  2. I learned of the album release on Sirius and bought it the 1st day it was out. All the cuts are great, but "More Than a Name on a Wall" and "By the Mark" are my favorites. As a military retiree, the emotions flow when I hear "More Than a Name".

I'd followed Jamie for years with Doyle Lawson and was sad when he left. Now, I'm so proud to know the great group he and Darrin have put together. I had the opportunity to hear them live and speak to both of them in August. They've only just begun.

Count 'em... ten (10) IBMA nominations including:
    Album of the Year
Song of the Year (for "By the Mark")
Song of the Year (for "More Than a Name on a Wall")

  3. The playing is great and the harmonies are tight so why 2 stars? It's the choice of material, unfortunately. About half the cuts are that same old syrupy, hokey gospel that everyone does, and the rest is a homage to the past which is ok; but bluegrass can be much more that that. It's ok for 21th century bluegrass musicians to do contemporary material.

  4. Wow! I knew this was going to be a good recording. NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL. I've kept up with Mr. Dailey all the years he was with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver and he learned from what in my opinion is the master of harmony and instrumental excellence. I look forward to many years of Dailey and Vincent and wish them well in all their endeavors. Thanks guys for an excellent CD.

  5. Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, both veterans of years working with big-name bluegrass bands, have now teamed up to form a band of their own and have recently released their first album, the self-titled Dailey & Vincent. Dailey is best known for the nine years he spent with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, the band he left in August 2007. Vincent, brother of Rhonda Vincent, got his start performing with his family's band, The Sally Mountain Show, and has worked with the biggest names in bluegrass and country music in recent years.

If Dailey & Vincent is any indication, these guys have a very bright future in bluegrass music. What makes this album, a mix of traditional bluegrass and gospel music with a little country thrown in for good measure, special are the harmonies featured in most of the songs. Jamie Dailey has one of the purest (and highest) high tenor voices in the business and Darrin Vincent's voice offers the perfect blend needed to create some memorable vocals.

Among the album's strongest cuts are five gospel tunes, including an acappella performance of "Don't You Want to Go to Heaven When You Die," sung in four-part harmony and guaranteed to make you hold your breath as the lyrics seem to come faster and faster and get you wondering when the singers are going to run out of breath themselves. "By the Mark," a song that should be part of every Dailey & Vincent performance if it's not, gives Jamie Dailey the chance to demonstrate that superb high tenor of his and is sure to be an album favorite.

The traditional bluegrass sound is well represented by standout songs such as "Cumberland River," "Poor Boy Workin' Blues" and my favorite, "Don't You Call My Name."

This is a first class album debut but that should not be surprising considering the decades of musical experience that Dailey and Vincent already have under their belts. The guys have surrounded themselves with some fine musicians and promise to be just as good on stage as they are on this recording.
