  1. Absolutely my new favorite. The music, the lyrics, their style ... I had only heard one song from this CD prior to making the purchase and it has been in my player since I received it. All tracks are very good. I highly recommend it regardless of your favorite type of music!

  2. What a talented group! I love this CD from beginning to end. This is one of those rare CD's wherein there is not a bad song. I recommend it to family and friends and often I just simply buy it for them. :-) No need to suggest...just give.

  3. Very solid album but certainly not as good their first which is OK considering that Daylight was certainly the best christian rock album of the decade so far and perhaps the best rock album period. The songs are stylistically more pop than rock on this one and more homogenous; their isn't quite the sonic variety on The Heat. Instrumentally, the rhythm section seems to be less active, but the keyboard work, while more prominant than I might have wanted, is really interesting. The first two tracks probably represnt the most variety and are the highlight of the album. Everything after that sounds pretty good, but after a few songs, you have to look down at the display to see how many different songs you've actually heard.

I heard someone give an interview recently talk about the sophomore slump by saying that it makes sense that 2nd albums aren't as good as debuts because bands spent their whole lives putting together their first album for a label and are then pressured by that label to put the second one out in eighteen months or less in the midst of near-constant touring to promote the first one. I think that accounts for the lack of variety, and maybe there's one other reason; more of these songs seem to be an effort to create a single rather than just a great song. Still, an album well worth a listening to.

  4. I appreciate this CD by Needtobreathe. I really like "Washed by the Water" as it is one of my favorites. Fairly good theology and speaks volumes of truth in their songs. Thank you!

  5. This new project from NeedtoBreathe expands on the bands amazing talents. Incorporating more variety in sound; the melodies are as smooth as silk, this cd is breath taking. With meaningful lyrics and a stronger sound this group is maturing and bringing nothing but humility into their work. I would recommend this cd to anyone, it entails a little of everything.

  1. When you need lifes anxieties to be released from every area of your body, when you just want to spend time with the LORD and need his guidance and release whatever, this is the cd you need. YES, to your Will LORD, NO COMPROMISING!

  2. This CD flows in the anointing....though you have many moments where there is no singing it is obvious that the Holy Spirit had fallen in the room. If you are not a WORSHIPER then this CD will make no since to you. For Praise is to break through and Worship is to enter in and once you enter in the Holy of Holies is there really much that can be said or sang?

This is worth the cost and MORE

  3. T thank God for music ministries like Shekinah Glory Ministry their music usher you into the presence of the Lord and I will continue to be a faithful listener of their music. Praise god for their ministry, praise god for his continued blessing upon this group

  4. This cd was awesome. I plan to order one for a friend as a birthday gift. The cd takes you directly into worship.

  5. Shekinah Glory Ministries didn't disappoint this time (as usual) they have blessed us all with this marvelous work of art.

  1. This is Elvis at his best with the music he loved. With each song, you feel the emotion he sang with. This 3 cd set is the best. I highly recommend it, and to even to those who have never followed his music will feel his love.

  2. Singing Gospel Music. It's what Elvis loved the most, and what he did better than any mortal who ever lived on this earth. This incredible 3 CD set has every Gospel song ever done by the King - The 1 EP, three LPs, live performances, rehearsals, jam sessions. No one could do Gospel Music better than Mr. Presley & of all the various genres (rock, country, ballads, blues, etc.) Gospel was what he loved the best. I could listen to this music around the clock & it would never get old. Whether atheist or Bible Believer - YOU NEED THIS MUSIC - you'll never be the same. Thank you Elvis!!

  3. I'm a huge Elvis fan and I love his gospel songs. He sings them so beautifully and they are so uplifting. This box set is a worthy addition to any Elvis fans collection. I like that there are also some live songs and some outtakes in this box set.

  4. This is a wonderfully inspiring three disc collection of recordings by a person I feel puts his heart and soul into his gospel songs. How grand to hear the King of Rock pay homage to his Lord, the source of his "one of a kind" vocal talent. The impromptu recordings, including one where Elvis sings bass, I find especially enjoyable and touching. A few of the songs are done more than once but there are some that should be done more than once. This collection may not include all the gospel songs Elvis ever did but it a large uplifting, moving collection and well worth the price.

  5. I purchased this for a friend that loves everything Elvis. I am not an Elvis fan but do enjoy gospel. I agreed to listen with him and was very much surprised. This is better than anything else Elvis ever did. Enjoy.

  1. a new generational wave of music that brings the heart of worship to the forefront. Life is getting tougher and these songs speak to how we feel as God directs our life. How it is when He is number one despite who we are!

  2. I really enjoy Casting Crowns. They sing about real life circumstances and lean on the Lord while having a more modern-upbeat sound that kids and adults will enjoy (light rock'ish'). I put both of their cds right onto my ipod and have been listening to them ever since...

  3. I love Casting Crowns. One of the best groups I know. Always uplifting, always poignant. This CD is great.

  4. I like it very much, specially the Voice of Truth song.
It's a great album from Casting Crowns.

  5. You can tell they worked on these songs for years. Of their three cd's, this first one is the best.

  1. Sorry to have to say it, but in my opinion this album ain't that great. I was excited to see Chris Sligh's music being sold on the Christian circuit but a little dissapointed in how safe it is played off as being a Christian album. If there are any Christian themes within the lyrics it's very subtle, but it's art and it's whatever you make out of it so thats not really a big deal. But then I was even more dissapointed with the music. American Idol fans might enjoy this record but I personally did not. To me it sounds like a cheesy pop parody of an American Idol soundtrack. It's like the main purpose of the album was to use as background music for the show. I have to wonder if some big shot producer just made the album and told Chris Sligh to sing it giving him no leeway whatsoever. With Sligh's image I was expecting either a punk influenced record or at least something hard rock. I was hoping Chris Sligh would be this big breakout artist who would be a refreshing depart from the mundane pop rock that is out there right now. But Running Back To You is none of those things. Instead, it sounds like an over-produced pop rip off of Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson. Some of the melodies are catchy but that is about it.

  2. I've been a Chris Sligh fan since his days on American Idol and was so excited to see his first professionally produced (by Brown Bannister, no less) solo album enter the arena.

The songs are wonderful (every single one!), and I catch myself singing them days after I've listened to the album. I think my favorite is "Empty Me," but I really love them all. And his voice! What can I say about his voice? It just gets me every time.

Some of the songs are favorites of mine that have been remixed from his first album with his band Half Past Forever and have been polished to the point of perfection. (To be honest, I really loved the roughness of the Half Past Forever album and would've been happy even if this album wasn't quite as smooth.)

I hope you will buy this album and I also hope you'll treat yourself to the album by Half Past Forever, which I'd give six stars if I could. The soaring ballad, In A Moment, while wonderful on his new solo album, just makes you want to weep in its original version.

    (review by Mrs. Scott)

  3. This is a good CD for traveling in the car. I'm kind of new to the jazzy thing but this is a good one. I always look for something that I can understand the words and this comes through good.

  4. Loved Chris when he was on Idol but his full "potential" was never revealed by the show. This CD is the real Chris Sligh! Keep going Chris. Put out more of this for us, loved it!!!

  5. Chris Sleigh has a wonderful full voice. This CD is a good one to buy if you are a Christain. My only disappointment was that the music seemed too loud. More voice, less loud music would be nicer...but I still loved this CD...It is in my car and is very uplifting...What a wonderful talent this young man is and I hope he can make more CD's

3 comments about Witness Protection.

  1. Dave is one of the best singers around. The first half of the CD is good, the other half is excellent.

  2. I haven't written a regular review in awhile, but after hearing Dave's new album I feel compelled to write something. First, I am so happy to see that Dave decided to do another contemporary gospel album, instead of doing another secular album. So I just had to get it.

What makes me like this album is the song "You Are". This song shows to me that he's just not a good singer, but he also has a heart to worship God in Spirit and in truth. I had to play this song a few times. Then it flows into another song called "Just Worship" to give you a time for worship.

I even like the musical cleverness of his contemporary song "More of You." If you listened to secular music in the 90's you'll know what I mean. I also like to hear his story in the song called "Church", because he didn't end up allowing some of the foolishness that occurs in some churches to stop him from connecting to God.

So I would have to say this is a good sophomore gospel album for him. I still have to say, I'm glad to see he came back.

  3. Kicking off "Witness Protection" with the appropriately titled song "I'm Here," Dave Hollister announces his return to gospel proclaiming his allegiance to god singing "Here are my hands, use them as you please, lord I give you total control of me."

After a number of years on the secular charts, including his well received stint as part of the R&B group Blackstreet. Hollister seems most at home with gospel where he can truly speak about his trials, tribulations and breakthroughs. Although the album is not necessarily a traditional gospel album, Hollister does a great job at keeping contemporary and youthful audiences entertained while also channeling those who came before him such as John P. Kee, Fred Hammond and Marvin Winans.

Hollister fuses bits of R&B, Gospel and a tinge of Rock into a number of songs that are bound to rock the homes of young adults, teens and the more contemporary inclined gospel fan. "More of You" an ode to god, where Hollister proclaims that he would rather have more of him than anything else is one of the best songs on the album. "More of You," which may even be construed as a 5-star update to the classic gospel song and church favorite "Silver & Gold" finds Hollister reflecting on his past and looking toward the future. Proclaiming "everything I want, everything thing I need, material things...it don't mean a thing," Hollister continues in what seems like an ode to the days of his Blackstreet days singing: "The house, the deal, the mils, the jesibels, and the cheap grills... realizing it wasn't real, now I'm a vessel and I need to be filled."

The Stellar Award nominee continues the aforementioned trend with inspirational songs like "Standing," "Striving," and "I Know I Can" however, in a more controversial, yet well addressed song entitled "Church," Hollister talks about the drive to be in church every Sunday no matter who or what may stand in the way. Addressing commonly found issues or taboo topics in the church, Hollister says he doesn't care 'how the preacher spends his money' or 'if the choir director is friendly'... only thing that matters is my 'biz' (business) with the lord. He later continues 'I was trying to figure out what's more important my clothes or my soul.' Quick to address cynics who may say he's giving the church a bad name, Hollister says "I didn't make these stereotypes so I'm not to blame, I'm not trying to say that everyone is doing the wrong thing"

Moving on with less controversial songs like "Don't Stop," Hollister provides inspiration to press on no matter what you may be going through singing "hold on, be strong my sister, it'll soon be over."

Even though the first half of "Witness Protection" is well done, the latter half seems to be the best part of the project. Hollister seems stronger and more in tune with current issues such as the mortgage crisis, rising costs and health care crisis' affecting the nation. "Look Up," "Secret Place," "Bless Me," and "You Are" provide room for inspiration, reflection and worship. The latter of the four entitled "You Are" is the best song on the entire album for pure reflection and an amazing worship session. Powerful and true, "You Are" leads into a two track praise and worship session wrapping up Hollister's sophomore gospel album "Witness Protection" with as they say "saving the best for last" "Just Worship" and "Champion" (dedicated to Gerald & Sean Levert).

Overall, Dave Hollister's "Witness Protection" is a solid follow-up to his debut Stellar Award-nominated album "The Book of David, Vol. 1: The Transition" Providing plenty of room to celebrate what god has done, while also providing room for reflection and inspiration, "Witness Protection" easily becomes one of the year's best Contemporary Gospel albums.

5 comments about Going Home.

  1. Morris Robinson has the richest, smoothest bass voice I have enjoyed in a while. The content of GOING HOME is comforting and encouraging; the sound is equally so. Robinson sounds as though he would be as comfortable at the Met as he is in a "down home" little church. I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to give it as a gift to several friends.Going Home

  2. Each time I listen to this CD, I get a little teary eyed because of all the emotion that is put into the music. I am currently working with Mr. Robinson in the Pittsburgh Opera's production of Aida where he is portraying Ramfis. Mr. Robinson has a wonderful rich, bass voice. He is alsom one of the nicest, most considerate performers that I have worked with. I wish Morris only the best in the coming years and hope I get to work with him again. He's going to be a huge star in the next few years.

  3. Morris robinson has such potential. If you like powerful bass singing, you cannot help but find this man compelling. You could only write a negative review if you felt that no artist ever evolves, improves, or changes. Let's consider Paul Robeson- like Robinson, he was a big, commanding presence; football player in college (All American Rutgers),a singing talent forged more in the church than in a musical conservatory. His early work was recorded with minimalist accompaniment. I am persuaded that much of the glitzy background we hear nowadays is done to cover up deficiencies in the performer's voice. Robinson and Robeson both shine with instrumental support that is just barely above acapella.
While I doubt that most artists read these reviews of themselves, I would have one hope for Morris Robinson: Stick to the lower registers and don't let some studio twit try to turn you into a baritone. You can retain feeling, control and power in 'deep water', which is a rare talent. Josh Groban can do what most baritones cannot do, yet some of his recent recordings suggest someone wants him to become just another tenor.
    Go 'Dogs
Dennis Garvin MD Citadel class of 69

  4. I heared a editorial about this guy on npr and it was pretty cool so i bought the cd. but in reality it is pretty cheesy and not very well organized. opera, gospel, and smooth jazz just dont go together that well. too bad cause morris has an amazing voice and it could have been a spectacular album, but i don't think they put that much energy into it. elevator music.

  5. Morris Robinson's voice is swoon-worthy: so rich, resonant and true that this listener got cold chills listening to it for the first time. His pitch is always bang-on, he possesses an awesome breadth of expression and dynamics, and it is with regret that one hears the last note end. This CD was a gift from a friend, and I cannot WAIT to hear Mr. Robinson's operatic roles. That said, this collection of spirituals and gospel songs is superb. The arrangements vary from simple to a bit over-the-top, but they are all enjoyable, and with accompanying musicians like Cyrus Chestnut, who could go wrong? Highly recommended for lovers of this music and of beautiful male singing.

  1. I had heard of Tye Tribett in the past but didn't really get into him until I attended the San Diego County Fair Concert Featuring Tye Tribett. It was there that I had the chance to taste this new album as well as the artist and Greater Anointing. Every song on this album I love...if you don't like the album or only like a few songs I challenge you to listen to the album over and over and over and over and you will soon catch on! Also attend a Tye Tribett concert if you can He and Greater Anointing have sooooooooo much energy and give you a show worth watching as well as a wonderful worship experience. This album challenges every believer to no longer remain in the gray areas but to call sin what it is and take a stand against it!

  2. I love this CD it is very inspirational. If you like to dance a bit while praising God this is a wonderful CD that will allow you to do that.

  3. I have to say I think this is one of the best! It was a little awkward to me at first, but I just kept listening to it anyway. I love Tye Tribbett and GA, I love seeing them in concert! Tye is crazy and unique he is going to make unique songs. People who buy his albums should know that. But I love it! I love how different it is and how he has Kim back on it again! I absolutely love everything about this album. If I could give it 10 stars I would!

  4. I really WANTED to like this cd, but it just didn't do it for me. I liked a few of the songs, but Tye's last cd was much better than this one. I bought this cd because I have been on the Tye Tribbett team for a long time, and I wanted to support his music. Yet, I was a little disappointed when I listened to the songs. On one of the songs, the lyrics were basically being mumbled by G.A., and I had to look up the lyrics in the cd cover; but because all of the lyrics were so jammed together onto the page, I couldn't decipher them. Overall, the cd is mediocre.

  5. Tye Tribbet and G.A are an awesome group and what better way to come back out is to stand out.Awesome

  1. I've followed CeCe's gospel career many years. It's clear her voice is truely anointed by God. I love her spirit and her obedience. This CD is wonderful and helps me to stay on track with God. When you really take the time to listen and absorb the lyrics, you will come away from it blessed and empowered. Keep doing what you do CeCe. I pray God blesses you forever.

    Anita

  2. Cece Winans is highly annointed. The presence of God is all in this cd. I've been truly blessed by every song. It helps you get even closer to God. It's right on time during these trying times, we need to be more focused on Thy Kingdom Come. Keep on standing for the Kingdom. I remember when she sung "I'll go" some years ago, and it seems that she is still going strong for the Lord. Cece, keep on letting the Lord use you during these latter days. I recommend this to everyone. What a blessing!!!!

  3. Excellent Praise and Worship CD. This one does not eclipse "Purified" but it certainly ranks right up there with "Throne Room". A sheer joy.

  4. I love CeCe Winans so I wasn't surprised when this cd turned out to be so nice. the first track is wonderful and nice to get you in the spirit of Worship. If you like CeCe Winans and Praise and Worship music you will enjoy this cd.

  5. It's amazing to see that CeCe has not lost her touch over the past 20+ years in the industry. She's even more on fire for God now than she's ever been before, and it's very evident in this latest project. Sure, there are a few tracks that I do hit the "SKIP" button on in my car, but my favorite song from the entire album has to be "I'll Live For You." That song's lyrics speak to my heart every time I listen to it..."unmerited favor, indescribable peace..." strictly amazing! CeCe's still doing God's work, and she still has that amazing smile while doing it! She's truly someone I wouldn't mind being within the company of talking about the goodness of the Lord! Bless you, CeCe, for what you're doing for the kingdom...for such a time as this, it's what we as Christians are supposed to be all about...building up for the kingdom!

  1. This CD is great. If you like Christian music, you will love this CD. Nicole Mullen is a very gifted singer and song writer. Thank God for this very talented and beautiful young woman.

  2. I had recently seen Nicole C. Mullen in person and was quite impressed by her performance and energy. I loved the songs My Redeemer Lives and Black, Brown, and Tan. It's a worship experience listening to her and a good mix of upbeat and ballad.

  3. I just can't say enough about this CD. It is simply awesome. The selection is varied and all top notch.

  4. I was unfamiliar with Nicole Mullen before being introduced to this album by a friend. If CD's wore out like the old vinyl records, I'd already be ordering a new one and I only had it a month; I just kept playing it until my wife borrowed it from me, now she can't stop playing it.

Nicole Mullen is an amazing artist with great vocal talent, plus I'm told she writes many of the songs she records.

I give this album an enthusiastic five stars.

  5. This cd is GREAT! I purchased it for my husband who loves her voice. Music on this cd is for all our "moods" as christians..take no offense. The music can be soft, soulful, afrique, fast and loud...most of all it is worship unto the Lord. It is a very diverse worship cd. We like it.
