  2. This Cd minister to your heart, mind and soul in more ways than one of what you need it to do. I hate that I waited this long to purchase it but it still a wonderful Cd. My favorites are victory, day by day, its gonna be nice is a favorite. I don't think that you will regret purchasing this cd because better late than never. God had to place the song in my spirit in a dream before I purchase the cd it relaxing and very peaceful in so many ways.

  3. I love this CD. The music is very inspirational and the lyrics are wonderfully arranged. Yolanda Adams has a gift of song. Praise and worship as well as some heartfelt songs. I'm enjoying it everyday!

  4. The consistency and talent you'd always expect from Yolanda is evident on this album. A good mix of heart stirring ballads.

  5. This is one of the most well written and arranged gospel CD's I have heard in a long time. Yolonda Adams has one of the most beautiful and soothing voices of our time. This CD has a mixture of slow and uptempo gospel hits. Some have a jazzy feel and some make you want to jump to your feet and shout, Hallelujah!!! At any rate if you can't find a song on this CD to help you through whatever situation you may be going through whether you are Christian or not than I don't know what to tell you.

  1. Yolanda Adams helps you do your prayer work on this one. Facing serious life challenges - just put this on morning when waking and night when going to sleep. Her spiritual commitment on this cd will help YOU get a prayer through. I listen when staring down the biggest demons in my lifetime. You can leave "This too Shall Pass" on repeat. It works.

  2. Listening to Yolanda has always been a delight. In this album, she listed what she called the "best". The truth is all her songs are great!

  3. I'm a big Yolanda Adams fan I just love this CD.

    I'm glad I purchased it!!

5 comments about Faith: A Hymns Collection.

  1. I love the arrangements of these old hymns. I love the harmony of the voices. The sound is rich and full. I have almost worn my cd out listening to it.

  2. This is a great album if you like old style hymns. Very uplifting music. Old favorites with a new twist. Avalon's albums never let me down.

  3. Just had to comment on how uplifting this cd is.......thank you Avalon for your beautiful versions of these songs. God has blessed you with a sweet, joyful sound. God has blessed me for coming across this music. Anyone who loves Jesus will treasure this cd for a long time........

  4. I don't wanna deceive Avalon fans but this rendition to the hymns isn't that great, or should I say "out of common".. Even tough it arrived home broken, I had a listen to it, and it didn't grab me as other Avalon projects did in the past. Am not gonna say that it's awful tough but they sure could've done it much better. Maybe I'm wrong, some may like this album, depends if you only like slow-balladry stuff. I prefer projects with very different genres. I expected stuff like the Oxygen's catchy tunes. Once again, I think no one did better rendition to the old hymns than 4 HIM. I tell you: it's a must have. Sorry Avalon, but this time, I could only give 3 stars.

  5. I'm a "boomer" gen and I really enjoyed all but one track on this CD. They were very uplifting, esp. while sittting in traffic. They renewed my focus on God and Christ. If you are looking for the classic hymns with upbeat arrangements/ sound without heavy rock or bass, then you'll enjoy this CD, I did.

5 comments about Rhythm Country and Blues.

  1. Very good CD, blends the best of Blues and Country together for a great relaxing CD

  2. I had originally purchased this item as a tape and it quickly became a favorite. As car media players changed I looked for it in CD format as well so I could keep on listening. The voice pairings are exceptional and complement each other in every selection. Well worth the listen.

  3. this cd is one of a kind. you know every word to every song and the duets are so interesting and well done. i would highly recommend this.

the cd was in perfect condition and i would recommend the seller.

  4. I have been looking for this cd for many years. I was not living in the states when it orginally came out and I am surprised that it did not receive a lot of attention when it did come out. Music has no color and the influences that it offers is too great to mention. This is worth having in your cd collection

  5. I have had this recording on tape for about 10 years. It is one I always go back to and have had much pleasure in listening to it back-to-back for hours at a time. It has such a good variety of music, and the musicians and artists are supurb. They are amoung the best of the best. It has never failed to get me in the right mood. I love to take it hiking and and play it in my car, singing along with it, sometimes, at the top of my lungs. I purchased a new car with only a CD player. I was not able to find it at the local stores, which had so many CDs to go through. It is not just one artist and is not new, which added to my difficulty in finding it. It was so easy to just name search it on Amazon, order it, and have it delivered in a few days.

5 comments about Live Unplugged.

  1. I enjoyed this album. I liked the mellow focused mood. It is a great worship cd. I would have loved to have been there for the recording.

  2. This is a great CD...thanks for getting it here so quickly and in such great shape. The price was terrific too for a CD and DVD. Thanks!

  3. Jeremy Camp's unplugged album is one of my very favorite cd's that I own, and that is really saying something, because about 90% of my cd collection is punk music. I want to share a little testimony story on here if that's cool with you. (Don't worry, it has to do with the CD.)

So I grew up in a Christian household and always heard of Jesus every day at home and in school. It went in one ear and out the other. It was like, "blah blah blah Jesus blah blah blah." As I went thru high school I never took my Savior very seriously and well.....my heart just wasn't in the right place. Then in the winter of Senior year I went thru a huge change of heart and Jesus became the most important thing in my life. This album played a huge role in that. My dad got it for Christmas and I gave it a couple listens and adopted it as my own. (Don't worry, Dad was cool with it.) I loved being able to relate to the lyrics and come closer to my Savior. He really reintroduced Himself to me thru this album. Today I am in college preparing for the teaching ministry and I will be spending the rest of my life teaching high school age kids about Jesus as they go thru their teenage politics. <--haha mxpx...never mind.

Anyways, ON TO MY REVIEW OF THIS ALBUM!!!!!

Allright, this album is a little on the longer side, a little less than an hour...something like that. It is a bunch of Jeremy Camp's
singles, including his very best songs, (Take You Back, Walk By Faith, My Desire.) The songs go over a variety of lyrical topics, so it won't get redundant at all. For example, one of my favorites, "My Desire" is all about wanting to be used to do God's will. It is extremely easy to relate to, and you can listen to it as a prayer to God, saying to Him, "Here I am, send me." Walk By Faith is about knowing everything will be just fine, because it's all God's plan for you, and you just know in your heart that He knows what is best for you. I could go on for a long time, but I won't.

To accompany these honest and heartfelt lyrics, this album offers very laid back acoustic guitars and piano and light percussion. It's the perfect album to just chill and listen to. So when you feel the need to just refresh your mind and have some alone time with your Savior, definately pick up this album.

Allright, I'm done. I hope you check this album out, because it's worth a listen. I hope it effects your life like it did mine.

    God bless!!!

  4. If you drink coffee, than you know Starbucks. I personally hate the company, and drink for that matter. But if you've ever been in a Starbucks, then chances are you've heard their background music. That's Hear Music, Starbuck's own music brand who just released the new Paul Mcartney CD, and released the famous last Ray Charles duet album. The brand often releases "Unplugged" or acoustic versions of popular AC songs, i.e. Alanis Morrisote, Oh how I hate her.

This is the Christian's Hear Music album. A great CD to drink coffee to, or just read a book and relax.

Note: This is not a live album, it's just unplugged in front of a select audience of maybe 50 people. This is not what a Jeremy Camp concert looks like, there's no orchestra or conductor behind him.

Now that we have that out of the way, let's explore the quality of the album. Underrated is the word. Nobody liked the album because they thought it was "Live", so nobody bought it. But get the album's true art, and you'll love it. The album is an acoustic masterpiece. Every song is given a new layer, and many times improved upon. This is most evident when his wife sings with him as background vocals, nothing short of stellar.

The only problem is I wish it was longer, more songs. But overall, the album is truly an underrated classic work of art. The DVD is also a great bonus, totally adds to the album and music. The video work is very well done, and is award winning quality. So go into the album expecting a Starbucks style album, and you'll like what you hear, and want more.

  5. This DVD is brilliant and in an intimate ambiance, very different as the first I've already ordered so you can then see the multifaceted gifts of Jeremy Camp.

  1. This a wonderful CD. Very patriotic and sung beautifully by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

I would recommend this CD to anyone whose a real patriotic American.

  2. God Bless America is a fine collection of American anthems and battle-cry songs, beautifully executed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. My only complaint is that, while the CD contains more tracks than the original vinyl of the same title, a couple of the better tracks have been left off. But combine this one with their 30 best songs, and you get the lot.

  3. This CD has a great selection of songs from a top-notch choir. Unfortunately the instruments are so loud that you can't hear the singing.

  4. I am involved with several veteran/patriotic organizations and frequently have need of music of this nature. This CD is of the highest quality music of this type. I find it to be one of the best choices available for this usage. I would advise others in like situations to consider adding this CD to their resource materials.

  5. Very well conducted, every song is sung with such enthusiasm and fullness. Every song is sung to its fullness and then some.

5 comments about Music Machine: The Fruit of the Spirit.

  1. I can remember learning some of these songs many years ago in grade three! I still have the record and have just listened to it. Everyone should have this one. I will have to buy a few copies for friends who have kids. My favourite is Herbert the Snail.

  2. I listened to the "Music Machine" growing up and it brings back great memories. I love hearing my kids sing the songs and enjoy the wholesome message the songs convey. They especially love the "Patience" song! We will enjoy this one for many more years!

  3. I know there are already several positive reviews for Music Machine, but I could not pass up the opportunity to introduce others to a soundtrack that is so well loved in our family. I listened to this as a child and it was not uncommon for my mother to sing Herbert's song about patience when we were being impatient or easily offended. When I got married my mother gave me many of the cassette tapes that I had as a child and now my children love to listen to Music Machine and my 3 year old requests it every night before bed. She goes to sleep listening to songs about God's greatest fruit and, I have to admit, I sing "have patience" whenever we are dealing with grumpiness. I am ordering this CD for my family and for my friend who keeps asking me about that song I sing to my kids.

  4. Like other reviewers, I had this tape when I was younger. I think I acquired this tape when I was 9 or 10 and that was all I would listen to! I took it with me on vacation and I would listen to it through headphones but would still sing the songs outloud. My parents grew tired of hearing me sing the same songs over and over again. The tape was long gone by the time my daughter came around, and to my delight they have made it available on CD!!! Really people, 5 stars is not a high enough rating. Even though I haven't listened to this music for over 10 years I was able to sing every word of it once I got the CD home. It gives us such a good message and I still love every single song on the CD. My daughter loves them too and asks to listen to Music Machine every time we get in the car. DO NOT HESITATE to buy this CD for your children or any other children you may know. I can't say enough good things about this CD and the postive Christian message it sends.

  5. When I was in the 1st grade, I was in the Music Machine musical at our church. I would sit with my Music Machine album and listen to it for hours on end. The words and lessons have stayed with me throughout my life.
I am now a mother of two sons (ages 2 & 4). Everytime we get into the car, they both chant "Music Machine! Music Machine!". Although, I've heard these songs about a billion times, I never tire of them. It's such a blessing to see my children learning the same values that I was taught.

5 comments about Add to the Beauty.

  1. This was recommend to me to use in a Ministry I am involved with in my church. The songs are of great comfort to those going thru hard times. It reminds them of God's love and that everything will be alright.

  2. ADD TO THE BEAUTY is the worst Sara Groves album, in my opinion.

There is no Christian radio hit song on it, and it is very slow paced with no catchy song hooks or melodies.

Her best album is CONVERSATIONS, with the ultimate Christian hit song "The Word," as well as other good songs with interesting Bible references or comments about the Christian life, like "Painting Pictures of Egypt." Conversations

ALL RIGHT HERE is also pretty good. It has the big Christian radio hit "First Song That I Sing," as well as some other catchy songs, all with a nice, clean, lite rock sound. All Right Here

THE OTHER SIDE OF SOMETHING album has the Christian radio hit song, "The One Thing I Know," and you should try to get this CD with the bonus extra CD that has a few demo song versions and interview conversation. THE OTHER SIDE OF SOMETHING is not really a good album, but with the bonus stuff, it is interesting. The Other Side of Something

  3. "Add to the Beauty" is such a great album -- great songs and a shockingly great sound. This honestly is one of the best SOUNDING albums I have ever heard. You feel as though you are right there in the studio with Sara. Buy it!

  4. After seeing the "Ultimate Gift" and hearing Sara for the first time I ordered her CD. Now I'd like to get the rest of them. She has a beautiful voice, is an inspired writer and it all comes from the heart.

  5. It is a Sara Groves album, so of course it's great! Good lyrics, good music. My favorite tracks are "Just Showed Up For My Own Life" (I can relate), "You Are The Sun", "How Can I Tell", "Kingdom Comes", and "Why It Matters".

5 comments about Two Rooms: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin.

  1. This is more a bow to Bernie Taupin than Elton John. Elton's voice made them famous, but these artists mostly take Taupin's songs in new directions, and that is what is makes the album original and great. If you want some EJ's greatest hits album, go buy that. If you want interesting and excellent re-interpretations of Taupin's songwriting, buy this. The least interesting tracks are those that sound more like the original. The Kate Bush - reggae - Rocket Man ain't one of them. Many other fine performances.

  2. I purchased this CD ages ago when I was going through a folk/indie type phase simply because of the Sinead rendition of "Sacrifice." After listening to it though, I fell in love with the entire disk. I, of course, allowed someone to "borrow" it and lost it. I have been searching for it in stores ever since and was never able to locate it until Amazon.com came to the rescue.

  3. This CD was a good concept, but the early '90's production values, with the soprano sax solo (god help us) at the beginning of Joe Cocker's other wise notable version of "Sorry.." and the vocals shrouded in harsh, excessive reverb are the worst of the crimes. For the most part the new versions shed no new light on the songs, and in most cases screw them up with overly-synthed arrangements.

The few exceptions, though, are entirely worth the price of this CD, first and foremost being "Sacrifice" by Sinead O'Connor. The synth accompaniment is sensitive and well-guaged, and, despite the excessive reverb on the vocals, her performance is emotional without being oversung, and simply sublime. Also, Kate Bush's "Rocket Man" is charming and approprately ethereal in places, and Oleta Adams' piano-based performance on "Don't Let the Sun go Down on Me" is a welcome respite from the overly-electronic sounds on the rest of the album. If they could only remake this CD with modern production values, like using real acoustic instruments instead of synths and applying vocal reverb judiciously, that would be great.

  4. Congratulations,by stumbling on these CD reviews, you've manifested at least some level of inquisitivenss and or appreciation for other artists interpreting Elton and Bernies music. There's a reason, these two artists have built a serious classic body of work. Their music has reached the rare elevation of music defined as standards. This criteria used to be reserved for writers as Irving Berlin,Cole Porter, etc.
Music that tends to remain vibrant through the ages. Elton and Bernie's creations, given a 30+ year legacy, more then qualifies.
One ponders the music Lennon and McCartney would have created , if they had collaborated post Beatles. No one has to wonder about that with Elton and Bernie, its all out there. Their music creations continue to charm and reward the public as both these artists grow broader in life experiences. That said, what makes this CD a classic? It's the marvelous body of continually rewarding work interpreted by a wide range of legendary artists. Whoever selected this rooster has my eternal appreciation.
Sinead O'Conner gives " Sacrifice" a truly haunting and spiritual quality. It's simply one of the best recorded performances I've yet to hear from her. When listening to this track, please don't ignore the keyboard contributions of Paul Golding. This track alone is worth the price of admission. Same goes for Kate Bush's interpretation of " Rocket man". I'd love to hear her record an entire CD of Elton and Bernies tunes. Sting's version of " Come Down in Time " is breathtaking. Pay close attention to the piano contributions of Nancy Treadlight. This track wouldn't have achieved the same level without her artistry. Kudos to Hugh Padgham for the mix.
The Who and Beach boys turn in a yeoman's job with their choices. Neither group dissappoints. Wilson Phillips deserve special note. It's truly a discovery to hear their interpretion of "Daniel". Although considered a " light weight' pop group. They turn in a steller performance of Daniel. Their haromonies are magnificant and a female interpretion of the tune was long overdo. It makes the lyrics even more delicious. Honors for this track must be bestowed to another musical legend, Mr. Glen Ballard. Joe Cocker is the next artist to nail these body of work with his delivery of "Sorry..." One could almost believe the song was created exclusively for him. Of special note, is the sax work contributed by Deric Dyer. His licks are truly amazing and add to the tracks success.
Tina Turner delivers her version of "The Bitch is Back". She worked this tune to perfection through countless concert performances. Absolutely a classic and so interesting to hear a female interpretation. Rod Stewart delivers his version of "Your Song". Rod is a consumate artist. He makes everything seem easy and understated but its his huge talent that makes this perception deceiving. This tune is a perfect example. One listening with untrained ears might assume he phoned this in. However, it's just the opposite his artistry nails this tune in the manner it was intended. Thanks Rod! Bruce Hornsby's vocal interpretation, dare I say, exceeds Eltons. I know this statement is offensive to some but I stand by it. Just his keyboard work, delivered as an instrumental track, would have placed this track close to the top.
Oleta Adams simply kills "Don't let the sun go down'. Her lyrical/ musical interpretation makes this song a gem.
Finally, there's Phil Collins, Hall&Oats, George Michael and Bon Jovi tracks which I consider bonus tracks. They're really not needed but they don't detract either. Somewhat intertaining at best. My only wish is the a second CD ( box set ? ) with this concept is released sometime in the future. There's certainly enough E&B tunes out there ripe for the picking. I'd also suggest an instrumental project interpreting E&B tunes with leading jazz artists has a lot of potential. That's really the key to the greatness of this body of work. The lyrics could stand alone as published poetry and the music could also succeed strictly as instrumental versions. Putting the two together and including artists of this magnitude on this CD i absolutely inspiring.

  5. To me, it makes for pleasant listening by well known artists during the time of release. I like all of it, but my highlights are Kate Bush (who recorded "Candle In the Wind" on the CD single for "Rocket Man"), Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Hall & Oates, Oleta Adams, Sinead O'Connor, Phil Collins, and George Michael (who would cover "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" with Elton 2 years later). Due to the massive amount of material Elton and Bernie wrote (before and since) as well as different ways some of these songs could be reinterpreted, they should put out a second volume to it, esp. after hearing Tim McGraw doing "Tiny Dancer". A lot of the early songs have a lot of R&B and country elements that could take his songs into directions not on this collection, geared towards adult contemporary circa 1990.
The Who's performance is decent, and wound up on their box set.

Considering the "Face to Face" shows since, one has to wonder why Billy Joel wasn't asked at the time.

I think that his 90s-00s output has been great, esp. in the past few years. From "The One" to "Peachtree Road", you can picture other people doing some of these songs as well as revisiting some of the lesser known songs from the 70s and 80s.

Finally, Jeff Buckley had done "Curtains" from "Captain Fantastic" that has circulated in bootleg circles, but is amazing even if the recording quality isn't that great, but would be worth putting on a "Vol 2".
