- First, I'm not a hater. I'm new to Canton Jones and love his music. This cd has a problem with the guest rappers on songs, not Canton himself. First track 'Doin it Big': One rapper states "...got their panties up in a bunch" - not the worse thing you can say, but do you really want your kids or should you really repeat that line ever? No. Second track 'General' (Not gigolo - as the other reviewer stated): One rapper states "I keep guns, guns, lots of guns, I tote heat..." Now, the song is about demon killing, BUT this rapper never states what those guns are referring to. Most people can assume he means scriptures, but why assume? Take it at face value, again do you really want your kids or you to repeat that. Now what makes me take this rapper as meaning real guns, he later states "When you open up the trunk and smell like skunk..." now, i don't know what he's talking about. Cause in the secular world 'skunk' is a reference to weed, but maybe I'm getting too picky. Up to this point I still would have given this album 3 stars. Third Track 'Warrior': I am shocked and very sad that no one stated this before, but the guess rapper near the end of this song actually swears using the f-word. Using the f-word, and this is classified christian AUTOMATIC 1 star! If you can't put this on and feel it would be safe for your kids or yourself. 1 star. I think because it's the rappers, no one may have really listened to what they were saying but, unless you have editing software, skip this cd...buy his Kingdom Business, which is clean and great! I'm just saying what I wish someone would have told me before I got this cd, but I actually have editing software.
- Canton Jones is a great artist. His CD's have something for everyone. They are an inspiration to the spirit.
- I love this cd yall, had it for a minute and it still gets rocked on a regular basis. im a die hard cross movement fan but had to venture out of the fam to pick this one up... so nice to see Christians putting out decent, current, and relevant music for today
- I love it all. It is great way to ride, work out, and sit and meditate and still be fed with the word and good values.
- I love this album. I mainly bought it because of the song "Password (Live)" because it's like a hip-hop-praise & worship song. I wish I didn't buy this album so late, but it was worth the buy. The only song I'm not crazy about is "Doin it Big". I love the music, but it has too much rapper's vanity in it for me. If I wanted to hear that I would've bought a secular rapper's album. What I want to hear is a rapper boast about God. So I unfortunately skip this track. It's unfortunate because I really like the track but the lyrics is not edifying for me. Other than that, it's a cool album. I will more than likely be buying his new album Kingdom Business in September. I just hope it's not loaded with rapper's vanity.

5 comments about Hymned No. 1.
- I loved this CD. Milliard breathes life into songs I'm not familiar with and refreshes those that I've always loved.
If you are unfamiliar with his work you should know up front that the titles may be familiar but the songs have been 'updated' and have a more modern sound to them. This CD has achieved what the writer hoped it would do; introducing a whole new generation to some classics of the faith.
- When I bought this album, I was hoping to have a modern version of some old hymns. I guess it was, but it was mostly a country sound, which is not what I was expecting.
Bart Millard has great talent. He is the driving force behind MercyMe. Had he used that style of music in modernizing these hymns, they could have really been good. As it is, most of them were nice, but nothing great. There were a couple of exceptions to that. I think he did a very good job on 'The Old Rugged Cross' and 'My Jesus I Love Thee'. Probably the best song on the album was partially a hymn, but mostly an original that Millard wrote - 'Mawmaw's Song (In The Sweet By and By).
As this is titled 'Hymned No. 1', I'm assuming that he is planning to do some more remakes of hymns. I hope that he will do them more in the MercyMe style. One album of new sound hymns that I would highly recommend is 'Redemption Songs' by Jars of Clay.
- The more I listen to this CD, the more I love it. To me, the sound is a mixture of country, jazz, gospel, blues, and even a little classic rock. I can't wait for Hymned No. 2 - hope it has some other classics such as Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, and I Know Whom I Have Believed (three of my personal favorites). If you're looking for a good set of hymns that don't sound boring and "churchy", give this CD a try!
- Let me start off by saying that I have enjoyed MercyMe's efforts so far in their career, even though I don't particularly care for CCM anymore. Having said, much of this album misses the mark. It can't find its place; Millard tris to envoke a traditional sound and find a modern edge at the same time. As we say down South, that dog won't hunt.
For instance, "Just a Closer Walk with Thee," "Pass Me Not," and "Sofly and Tenderly" start out pretty well, but lose all sense of reverence and tone when they arrive at the choruses. "Have a Little Talk with Jesus" and the opening of "Sweetest Name I Know" are almost unlistenable. "Mammaw's Song" is a bit better, but it is not really a hymn but a tribute to Millard's grandmother. Still, it's one of the better tracks on what I'm afraid is a lackluster collection. "My Jesus I Love Thee/'Tis So Sweet" and "The Old Rugged Cross" are better, but are not so spectacular as to save the album.
I'm sure trying to bring a fresh angle on hymns is a tall order. However, if you are singing a hymn of reverence, a lot of drums and bluesly interludes like are present on this album only serve to obscure the meaning of the lyrics. There are a lot of hymns that can be turned into rocking anthems. On this album, Millard tries to force musical styles onto lyrics and ends up spoiling some truly good songs.
If you want a good collection of rockin' Southern hymns that are coherent and musically adept, try Charlie Daniels "How Sweet the Sound" instead.
- I really liked this CD... it's a twist on many older hymmn's. If you like Mercy Me, you'll love this CD! It's a little more toned down, but still has that unique quality.

- I love love love Michael English's voice. This album is so powerful, I enjoyed every moment of it and each song is so fantastic. His version of "Mary Did You Know" is the best version I ever heard. I repeat that one all the time when I listen to this CD. I pray Michael will continue in his walk with the Lord and overcome all his struggles. I will keep listening to his music.
- fantastic collection of some of his greatest hits including two new songs that should get plenty of airplay. a couple of listens to "right where you are" and "maker of the road" and you will be singing them all day long. michael never disappoints with his music and this newest cd continues that winning tradition.
- Michael English has thee best voices in Christian music. This greatest hits collection shows his vocal talent. The new song Right Where You Are is another great song with a great hook and chorus. I think that Michael really got black balled by so-called christians. How are they to judge him. So what, he made a mistake just like every single one of you do. He was totally mistreated by the christian community. This is why I choose not to go to church or surround myself with hypocrites anymore. Michael is just a man. He is also a terriffic voice in music.

5 comments about Songs for the Journey.
- "Songs For The Journey" truly knocked my socks off. I don't expect to love every song on an album, no matter who made it and this one is no exception. Like a previous reviewer, "Operator" turned me off ... always has, always will, but the dynamic with which Sandi performs the others far exceeds my expectations. "For Good" with Sheila Walsh, who herself has come a very long way from her days on the "700 Club", {Have you seen her "Women of Faith" retelling of the'Prodigal Son' -- Outstanding) I find haunting and beautiful each time I hear it. Sandy has the rare ability to make standard hymns come fully alive. "Be Thou My Vision" found in most hymn books for years has come into its own Sandy puts it on the map for me. Sandy's singing of "Were It Not For Grace" reminds me of the extraordinary grace and love I've been given. This is a GREAT CD.
- I believe and will always believe that Sandi Patty has a timeless voice and she has inspired and moved many of us throughout the years of her career. Her writers and arrangers love her and it is apparent in every project.
With that being said, I can only guess that she is so comfortable now being a mom and growing older that she does not seem to care when an unflattering picture of her is allowed to be included in the liner notes or a song already recorded in her last project fills the current project.
She sounds glorious, but I have to say that the only cuts I really care for are WERE IT NOT FOR GRACE, FOR GOOD and maybe JOYFUL JOYFUL since I find it interesting that she still hits her last note with such clarity and ease after all these years. Maybe she chooses songs that she can easily do live and at her Women in Faith concerts?
I question her choice of 2 Crouch songs. Do we really need to hear those recorded again....even by her? I know they are personal, but we grew up with them and most of us can't stand to hear them anymore. I also question the arrangement and song choice of Panis Angelicus. Though I have taught and enjoyed that sacred classic in the vocal studio, I hardly think it belongs on a contemporary album. The songs do not relate to one another very well. The arrangement on PANIS is too loud and Sandy drowns her husband out in many places. WHy do we buy a Sandy album to hear Don Peslis? ( no offense Don...we love you too). If you listen carefully, OPERATOR has vocal arrangement problems. It never rocks like it should and the background vocals on the front end of the track are not fully realized. I skip that cut always!
I got the feeling that she struggled to fill an entire album here. What happenned to cd's like ARTIST OF MY SOUL? OR LE VOYAGE, FIND IT ON THE WINGS or even the cd she put out in 2003 was far superior( can't remember the name). I liked FALLING FORWARD, but was also dissapointed on some tracks because they seemed too Praise and Worship oriented.
I will always love Sandy, but I wish she would really scour her past writers and approach some new writers to bring fresh material to her that would challenger her and the listener. I understand she has nothing to prove, but I would love for that 39th Dove Award to become 40 before she decides to retire....not because of the award, but that I know she has so much more left to give.
I would even be open to an album of Classical songs or Love Songs or an album of non sacred songs by artists that she loved growing up hearing like Streisand or Karen Carpenter. Or better yet, an album of songs that are not expressly christian, but that you could relate to as a christian. How about a Duets album?-----new duets please....not with Trocolli, but a new one with Harris or Steve Green or a famous singer who is a believer?
The choices are unlimited here. Keep recording Sandi........thought this might be helpful since you love your fans. Love, C
- Let's cut to the chase. This record is all about the producer, not the artist. Some of the production is so overwhelming that it's overshadowing the artist. Why is Sandi allowing her work to go this direction? We have bought all of her records through decades now, and given away many, many copies of her CDs in the past for others to enjoy. With this recording, we played it once and stuck it on the shelf.
This album is disjointed, and the title is misleading. It's a journey with no destination other than putting together a group of unrelated, disjointed, and, quite frankly, uninteresting songs -- a hodge-podge that has no connectivity at all. Where is Sandi Patty -- the voice we all love and want to hear?
Most of the artwork is stunning -- Sandi at her most beautiful. However, another reviewer mentioned Sandi dancing around in a photograph inside the cover. Sandi allowed that to be published? Think "What Not to Wear," and fire the stylist. We wanna see Glammy Sandi.
If I hear one more Gaither tune, I am going to hurl. And how many times can one endure "My Tribute," no matter who is singing it? My former church is in a rut. It's either Gaither tunes -- the same ones repeatedly -- or death-dirge songs there, and it's one reason we left. See where I'm going here?
Above it all just the same, Sandi's voice is top-notch. Two tunes are the best (and the only ones listenable): "For Good" and "Were It Not For Grace." She gives Larnelle a run for his money on his version. Sandi's take is phenomenal. These two showcase Sandi's God-given talent and are worth playing more than once. Also, be certain to see Sandi in concert. Wow! What a performer and an amazing example of God's creation in music and song!
Sorry, folks. We played this CD once all the way through, and we've parked it on the CD shelf. Try "Find It On the Wings" or "LeVoyage" for a much better glimpse at what this artist can do. Rock on, Sandi, just the same. We love you, baby!
- This CD is very enjoyable! From the inspirational "My Tribute" to the lovely duet with her husband, Sandi manages to turn songs that you may or may not have heard before into true masterpieces! This CD remains in the player in my car and arrived just in time as my family was dealing with the loss of a friend's child. The song "Through it All" certainly attested to her own (and my own!) growth as a Christian. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who is already a Sandi Patty fan or someone who would listen to her soaring voice for the first time and realize they may have just experienced a little taste of Heaven.
- Sandi's new album is full of great classic worship songs that take me back. Some of the songs like "Be Thou My Vision", "Joyful Joyful", and "Praise To the Lord The Almighty" have been covered many times, but Sandi's version of them are epic, and they are in fact my favorite songs on the album. The overall feel of the album in general is very epic and grand. It makes you feel like you're there watching the big performance from Sandi, and makes you want to join in and worship along with her. This album is definately one that any Sandi Patty fan will enjoy. I'm actually pretty new to Sandi's music, and have greatly enjoyed the songs on this album. It's definately one to check out!

5 comments about To Hell with the Devil.
- Another great cd by stryper. What else coud I say. The cd is as great as the cassette. A must for anyone collecting christian metal music. Just like I remember when they first came out. They know how to get the message accross. They really rock.
- "To Hell With the Devil" and "Soldiers Under Command" are both classic Christian rock album but which one is better? At least from "To Hell With the Devil" Stryper often plays more songs than "Soldiers...". The Devil's 'nightmare song' "To Hell With the Devil", "Calling on You", "Free", "The Way", and their greatest hit, the ballad, "Honestly" are played probably in every gig they have had in 00's. Also "More Than a Man" and "Sing-Along Song" are very often in the set lists. This album reprents everything that Stryper has to offer: heaviness, tenderness, a great message, and great songs with great playing and singing. Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, Timothy Gaines, and Oz Fox are truly God's soldiers. However, there's more great songs that just those seven I mentioned at first; "All of Me" is a great beautiful ballad, "Rocking the World" really rocks, and "Holding on" is also a good song, although quite basic stuff for Stryper. "More than a Man" could be called "To Heaven With Jesus" also because if you sing it and mean what you sing, you're soul will be saved. Great album, I recommend this together with the album "Soldiers Under Commandment" because they both are Christian metal classics.
Stars: Honestly, To Hell With the Devil, The Way, More Than a Man
- I had heard of Stryper in the 80s, then in the 90s they were about as 80s as totally 80s gets. Then they made a comeback this decade. This is their best aklbum, featuring the huge hit Honestly with a woman on vocals. The rest of the album is more straight forward metal, not really Christian lyrics all the time but condemning Satan. I picked up the Roxx Regime which contains Yellow and Black Attack and Honestly, and the only track better than hOnestly on there is From Wrong to Right. Abyss the opener gets things going, a joke their not. With this album they have gotten rid of most of the 50s influences into a much more EMO Poison meets Slayer tongue in cheek Christian metal band with a "we're the Christian metal kings" humor. Don't miss it!
- Come on, admit it.... you remember the old days when MTV actually played music, watching the Stryper videos playing and rocking out to the music.
I got the urge to hear some of their classic hits again, so I picked up the first four CDs via Amazon. I fully expected to listen to them now and think, "Huh, I remember them being so much better than this...."
I was wrong. Their original songs still rock as hard today as any other band out there in their sound genre. They didn't go for half the gimicky sound that some of the bands had, they just stuck to a standard rock & roll formula that worked, and it sounds just as great today as it did back then.
Well worth the meager price paid for the CDs. ;-)
- If you want to hear Styper hungry, but polished: driven, but uncompromising lyrically...then this is your album. Listen to the song More than a Man. These guys were big in the secular market in 1986, but this song gives praise and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ himself. It's a wonderful album!

5 comments about Carried Me: The Worship Project.
- While my wife and daughters were shopping one day, my son and I wandered over to a Christian bookstore. Over the store speakers I heard this song that captured my heart. I asked one of the employees what song that was, but it was already over and was part of a musical loop instead of a CD in a player. So, the employee started asking other employees when one said, "Oh, it's Jeremy Camp Empty Me."
When I returned home, I purchased the song online. For containing only a few lyrics, it sure is a powerful song.
After listening to just this song, my wife ended up purchasing this CD, now we listen to all the songs on this album.
- I love this CD! I listen to it everyday. The lyrics in some of the songs on this CD are so uplifting and powerful. This a great Cd to just listen to the words and reflect on the message that God is giving us. If I had the money I would by more of his stuff. This is my first CD of his.
- Jeremy Camp proves worship doesn't have to fit into one kind of genre. Praise and worship is about the passion that goes into worshipping God. And Jeremy definitely has the passion. This CD is a nice balance of older praise songs (You're Worthy Of My Praise and I Will Trust In You), recent popular praise songs (Chris Tomlin's Enough and Wonderful Maker as well as Tim Hughes' Beautiful One), and praise songs written by Jeremy Camp (Revive Me, Longing Heart, and Carried Me). Standouts on this CD include Enough, Beautiful One (excellent!), Revive Me, Empty Me, and Longing Heart. The only song that is out of place is "Walk By Faith," only because we have heard this song (and it sounds like the same version) on Jeremy Camp's "Stay." If he would have given a completely new version (like just an acoustic guitar and vocals!), then it would have been cooler. Oh well. All in all, this CD is near flawless and it will have you singing to Camp's powerful voice. I also bought the songbook that goes along with this so I could play guitar with it and play some of the songs for praise and worship at church (it was on sale although I probably could have gotten the chords off of the internet, but at least I know it is accurate). If you do not have a Jeremy Camp album, this is a good album to start with since you will probably recognize some of the songs.
- Glory and Honor to our Father God and Lord Jesus Christ!
I was blessed with a new Christian Radio station and fell in love with a lot of new contemporary Christian Artists. There were so many, I went on a mission and searched with only song titles I uncovered Jeremy Camp and bought his latest album because I liked some the samples I heard here.
Unfortunately once I had the CD, I realized it didn't containn the song I had jotted down on a scrap piece of paper. So I searched more and found 2 previously released albums and purchased those too.
Fortunatley they are all equally GREAT, I really wouldn't want to sacrafice one for any of the others. Camp is great, the variations amongst tracks will surely comfort you at any point during your walk in Love.
So view each album and here the samples if you must or take my word that camps' music will calm your restless spirit and uplift your weary soul. You'll be full of praise and worship!
- I am not into Christian Contemporary Music but this album to me does not seem like overly pop or produced Christian anthems for androids. First of all Jeremy Camp has a refreshing and deeply inspirational sound. You can really feel the empotion and heartfelt praise just in his vocals. He has soul, something most contemporary Christian albums lack.
Another thing is the entire album is strong and inspirational. You can actually listen to this album without having to skip over tracks. The only somewhat weak song is the final track "Carried Me." Another amazing significance is the constant focus on the glory and power Christ. Camp does not make it about "I" so much as it is about God and his glory. But at the same time it is extremely personal and deep, so it is layered well.
I really love "Beautiful One," "Enough," and "I Wait For The Lord" will really having you humbling yourself and praising the Lord. Also "Revive Me" is very powerful and great for reflection. When I met Jeremy Camp I thought he was extremely sincere and an excellent model for a Christian artist. He definitely has an excellent powerful sound. If sometimes you think contemporary Christian music is dorky and overly slick this album is for you.

4 comments about Hillsong Ultimate Worship.
- A positively yummy offering from Hillsong. I was rather disappointed by their "Celebrating Christmas" Album, but "Ultimate Worship" is back up to Hillsong's usual standard of excellence. "Made Me Glad" is extremely powerful and beautiful, musically, lyrically, and spiritually. If you like these folks, add this one to your collection. Hallelujah for modern worship! :-)
- This is my first Hillsong CD. It will likely not be my last.
All of the songs are focused on worship. Some of them are very good. Some of my favorites include the following: Made Me Glad, The Potter's Hand, Everyday, Worthy Is The Lamb, and, of course, Shout To The Lord. The songs are all strong lyrically. They are definitely about praising God.
- A great CD...I recommend to hear this CD every day, every where, to Praise and Worship HIM, Keep your spirit on Fire and Make you're heart closer with Him. Hallelujah
- Very good album. Every song on the whole disc is great, but my favourites are My Redeemer Lives (track 2), Shout Your Name (track 6), Better Than Life (track 7), and Shout to the Lord (track 17). I fully reccomend this album for anyone who likes this kind of music.

5 comments about The Watchman.
- I have listened to Paul's music since he was with Israel's Hope in the early 1980's.
His latest music seems to be even better than his early music such as Shalom Jerusalem.
This CD is a must have if you love Christian messianic praise and worship. But, moreover, it is relevant to today's praise and worship style.
- For those who love Paul Wilbur, this is a wonderful blend of new and old songs. For those who have never heard of Paul Wilbur and his Messianic style of worship music, this is a wonderful album for someone to be introduced to Paul Wilbur's music. The overall theme of this album is a great introduction to Messianic Hebrew Christian style of music. This album touches me down deeply. This album also brings a great sense of joy.
I love to sing along with it.
- Buying CD's unheard is always daunting, but this one did not disappoint. The blowing of the Shofar on the first track stirs the soul and sounds the warning. The CD is a wonderful mix of Messianic, "reggae", and christian worship music. It will be hard for Paul Wilbur to top this one.
- I love Messianic Worship. It is inspiring, and dynamic, and reminds us of how powerful songs are for delivering us from despair, depression, whatever the enemy has decided to hit us with. Just as David was able to soothe King Saul with his songs of the Lord playing his lyre, so too Paul Wilbur is able to get up stirred up and roused to worship the Lord, and praise Him for His mighty works! God loves to hear His children praise and worship Him. With each song we can fight the enemy, doing battle and bringing Glory to the Father.
I cannot get enough of the songs of Paul Wilbur. He made albums in the 90's with Integrity Music as well.
A great voice and a wonderful man living for God.
Awesome CD
- The CD arrived in excellent condition, and I was impressed with the
great packaging used to ship the product.
